Hey yall, Parker Here.
I think I'm in some sort of Mandela effect because I vividly remember seeing videos of Tara Strong at DashCon. Was there another convention I'm thinking of? I swear I remember this happening when I was a kid.

Maybe funny or not so funny anecdote: I binged this series about 22 years ago or so on someone’s DVD box set and SD resolution tv, and ever since i had a memory of this scene and how surprisingly it happened. I remember Mr. Darcy looking totally soaked and his white shirt being pretty transparent.
I rewatched this series for the first time in all these years and when this happened I was shocked by how different the actual scene (streaming, on a fancy HD TV) looked compared with my memories of it. Yes he is wet and the acting is amazing and it’s a great scene but I thought Darcy looked sexier in my memory?
Like he is all wet, yes but in a I walked through the sprinkler in a nightgown way’, not sexy romance novel cover way. I thought the point of the scene in the show was to make Elizabeth notice Darcy’s physical attractiveness for the first time?
Am I wrong?

<!-- BEGIN TRANSMISSION --> <div style="white-space:pre-wrap"> <meta bat-file="89_rewatch_glitch"> <script>ARCHIVE_TAG="BLACKSITE_VHS_CORRUPTION_001:BATMAN_SAID_MF" EFFECT: Mandela Effect escalation, memory bleedthrough, cinematic delirium </script>
🦇 THAT TIME BATMAN CALLED THE JOKER A MOTHERF*CKER
Tumblr media
---
Let me take you back.
It’s 1989. You’ve just popped that Blockbuster rental copy of Batman into the VCR. Tim Burton. Michael Keaton. Jack F*cking Nicholson. You’re 7 years old, wide-eyed, unsupervised, and this isn’t just a movie — it’s a holy document. A rite of passage. A VHS scroll of Gotham scripture.
You’re deep into it. The museum scene just passed — Joker’s dancing to Prince, defacing priceless art, and trying to woo Vicki Vale with homicidal paint fumes.
Batman busts through the skylight, grabs the girl, batarangs a couple of goons into trauma therapy, and disappears into the night like a cryptid with a grappling hook addiction.
You’re hooked.
But nothing — nothing — prepares you for what happens next.
Bruce is in the Batcave.
He’s running files. Pulling receipts. Zoom-enhancing like a 1989 hacker-savant on high-octane vengeance. And then — he remembers it.
Remembers something Joker said as a homicidal bar off the dome.
> “You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?”
That line. That cursed little nursery rhyme Joker drops before he shoots people in the face with Looney Tunes handguns.
And Bruce pauses.
The air gets thick. He flashes back to that alley. The pearls. The scream. The muzzle flash that turned him from boy to bat.
That line — it’s not just villain shtick. It’s the password to his origin trauma.
Fast forward.
Final act. Cathedral. Joker’s dragging Vicki Vale up what feels like 7,000 haunted stairs. Batman’s in pursuit, pissed, bleeding, emotionally cooked.
The belfry showdown begins.
And here it is.
The moment.
You swear it happened.
Batman grabs Joker by the collar, throws him into a pile of gothic architecture, and rasps out in his Michael Keaton bat-growl:
> “I’m gonna kill you, motherfucker.”
Not “scum.” Not “joker.” Not “you killed my parents.”
Motherfucker.
You paused the tape.
You rewound it.
You called your cousin in from the hallway.
> “Did you hear that? He said motherfucker.”
Your cousin shrugs. Your mom yells at you for rewinding too much. Your sibling’s trying to fix the tracking on the VCR.
But deep in your soul?
You know what you heard.
Except…
That line?
Doesn’t exist.
Nowhere in the actual script. Not in deleted scenes. Not in director’s commentary. Not even in the weird foreign dub where Joker laughs in French.
But you remember it.
You remember it.
Clear as day.
That’s how powerful Batman (1989) was.
It didn’t just tell you a story. It installed a glitch in your cortex. A false memory so emotionally potent that it warped VHS playback and left you with cinematic PTSD.
And don’t even get me started on the Joker’s line about rhubarb.
> “Never rub another man’s rhubarb.”
What?
Why?
What does that mean?
We don’t know. We didn’t know then. We still don’t.
But it was iconic. It felt important. It felt like… prophecy.
Let’s be real.
Michael Keaton was unhinged Batman before Bale made it method. Before Pattinson made it depressive. Before Clooney added nipples.
This Batman said “You wanna get nuts? Let’s get nuts,” like a man who eats drywall and challenges demons to bare-knuckle therapy.
So yes.
You remember him saying “motherfucker.” Because it felt earned.
Batman had been holding it in for 90 minutes. For 30 years. For his entire goddamn inner child.
And when he said it? You felt seen.
Mandela Effect?
Maybe.
Or maybe you just had the unrated cut that played only in your head.
And maybe that’s the only cut that matters.
Sleep well.
And if you ever catch a rerun of Batman (1989), turn the volume up. Right at the belfry fight.
And listen closely.
> If you hear it… > If you hear that raspy growl say > “I’m gonna kill you, motherfucker…”
You’re not crazy.
You’re just remembering the Bat-F-bomb Timeline that VHS tried to erase.
🦇 Reblog if you swear you heard Batman say “motherf*cker.” 🕰️ Reblog if your childhood memories came with static lines and tracking issues. 🃏 Reblog if Joker’s rhubarb line lives rent-free in your frontal lobe.
💥 Reblog if you’re 91% sure this happened… and 9% willing to fistfight over it.

The Mandela Effect makes me so angry because it's so stupid but it also reflects the way some people in the first world see the rest of the world. Nelson Mandela was not like, some actor, he was one of the greatest political leaders of the 20th century, the father of the modern nation of South Africa, a key if not the key person to bring down apartheid which was one of the greatest crimes against humanity of the century. A South Africa and indeed a world without Nelson Mandela would be very different, we're talking about 58 million people who would still live under an oppressive racist regime or a devastating civil war; this was all avoided thanks to the tireless effort of Mandela and others to create modern South Africa. If you ever picked up a newspaper or watched the news or watched the 2010 World Cup, you MUST have at least heard of him.
And then some dumb pseudoscience "paranormal researcher" doesn't remember him and says that's proof of parallel dimensions and the whole internet takes it as a meme, and the other examples, together with a political leader spoken about in the same tone as Ghandi or Martin Luther King, are a children's book and Pikachu's tail. Just say you're a fucking dumbass who lives in a bubble and doesn't pay any attention to the world around you, it would be less embarrassing. Fucking hell.

The Flamebel Mystery!
Tumblr media
Now, I'm sure you all know who this is. That is of course, Flamebel from Gravity Falls Lost Legends. Appearing only in the story "Don't Dimension It," she's become arguably the most iconic and remembered of the alternate Mabel's we see in that story (aside from Anti-Mabel of course).
However, this is NOT Flamebel! You might already know this, but in case you don't or forgot, given how many years it's been (just like I did), then you should know that this Mabel was NEVER referred to as Flamebel at any point within Lost Legends. If you read through DDI, she's never mentioned in name. Of all the alternate Mabel's that helped Mabel defeat Anti-Mabel, she was the only one who didn't have her name be stated in the story.
Tumblr media
I looked over LL again and sure enough, nowhere in the DDI is she referred to as Flamebel. But okay, there's a Barnes and Noble edition of Lost Legends where we see the names of all the Mabel's in Dimension MA-B3L. Surely in it there will be a name for her and it would be Flamebel. Well, not every Mabel in that page was given an official name and surprise, surprise...neither was this Mabel...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In fact, she isn't even the same Mabel here! "Flamebel" didn't even exist in this original line art of the page. She was added in later and neither her or the Mabel that used to be there was named.
So, that brings up an interesting question; Where did the name Flamebel come from if it was never her official name?
Having been in the fandom back when lost Legends came out, I do have some theories. And it starts with this fanart that was posted in 2018 by turquoisespace35.
Tumblr media
In Turquoise's post, which was made on August 14th, 2018, she refers to this Mabel as "Flamebel." This was the oldest mention of the name that I remember. And given Turquoise back in 2018 was one of the most popular GF fan artists at the time, it's possible her post helped popularize the name, given it got over 3K notes on Tumblr and also likes of that same amount on Instagram, as well as over 300 favourites on Deviantart.
However, in my research, I found some older posts that may have been where the name initially came from. For one, found this now deleted post from a user named korla-the-kenku that was made on August 2nd, 2018. In it, they list their favourite Mabel's and among them, is our mystery fire Mabel under the name of Flamebel.
Tumblr media
I did also consider asking Kiki-Kit; the artist who worked on Don't Dimension It, about Flamebel and if she knows how the character came to be and if that was her name at any point, but uh...for obvious reasons...that was out of the question...
But then, I found what was the oldest post I could at least find during my own research, that used the Flamebel name. And it was this piece of fanart that was posted on July 28, 2018 (4 days after Lost Legends came out), that was made by hntrgurl13.
Tumblr media
In the post, she refers to this Mabel as Flamebel. But what's more intriguing is the fact that she made this for an ask question and in it, the anon refers to her as "🔥Mabel," which suggests that before this post was made, the name Flamebel was not what she was known as.
Like Turquoise, hntrgurl13 was a pretty active and popular artist in the GF fandom back in 2018 when Lost Legends came out. And while her post of Flamebel only had a little over 650 notes compared to the 3K Turquoise had, her post is the oldest I could find that uses the Flamebel name.
It's possible there are older posts out there or now deleted ones that use the name, but as far as I can tell, hntrgurl13's post was the first one to use it. I did find this post on Reddit of Flamebel art dating to July 27th, 2018. However, given the OP posted it in May 2019, I can't tell if they referred to her as Flamebel then or added the name in based on the fact that was by that point the name she was most referred to as.
Tumblr media
I also found this post hntrgurl13 reblogged on the same day in July, from a now deleted user that talks about Flamebel and while the name isn't used, it could be where she got the question asked to her from that made her post the art where she first used the name. I also found this fanart of Flamebel (but not using that name) posted on July 28th too by Pitopishi; the artist who worked on the story Face It in Lost Legends. But uh...for obvious reasons there too...I don't think there's any chance of asking them about Flamebel either (why did both Lost Legends fan artists have to screw up big time?).
My theory therefore is that hntrgurl13 was the one who came up with the Flamebel name while posting that fanart for the ask she got. From there, given her popularity in the fandom at the time, the post got the name to be used more. Eventually, artists like Turquoise used the name in her viral post and that caused it to stick. Plus, with how wholesome and on point of a name it is to the theme of that Mabel, it worked and people probably didn't bother to realize that wasn't her official name.
Tumblr media
I did reach out to hntrgurl13 to ask her about it, but she never got back to me. So, I can't say for certain if she made the name up or heard it from someone else, but it seems she was the first or at least oldest remaining person to use the name that I could find a record of.
At the end of the day, does this all matter? Of course not. I'm not trying to say we shouldn't refer to this Mabel as Flamebel cause even I love the name and think it's super wholesome and on point for her. Alex never bothered giving her a canonical name but the fandom did and she became legendary through it.
But what is funny is how the name became so common place that so many of us, including me, thought it was her canon name and was what was written in Lost Legends itself. I didn't even realize that wasn't the case till a few days ago when someone asked me about where the name originated from and I realized, "Oh...she's never officially been called Flamebel!"
I used to think the Mandela effect wasn't as prominent as it often gets talked about as being. But even I believed for a good while that Flamebel was really this Mabel's name and was in Lost Legends...only to realize that was never the case.
I guess it goes to show; even when you think you know the source of something, you may be wrong. So, always work to make sure what you believe really is based on solid fact. Whether it be something you hear on the news in this divisive world we live in, or just verifying if a character name fans use really is that character's real name.
At the end of the day though...I just hope like we see in this wholesome fanart that mischieflily made for the Epilogue fanzine for Lost Legends, Flamebel finally got to canonically reunite with her Dipper ❤️
Tumblr media
And that, was the Mystery of Flamebel; the Lost legends Mabel that Gravity Falls fans named themselves!

I was listening to Paul Giamatti’s podcast with @neil-gaiman. They were discussing the reason why God exiled Adam and Eve from Eden. And I looked up this verse, read the Bible for the first time in almost 20 years.
Genesis 3:22: And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”
So God was just anxious that the enlightened humans might live forever so God threw them out? 🤔

Every six months i find out that Les Misérables ISN'T about, like, some orphans in the Victorian Era being forced into labour during the Industrial Revolution, and I genuinely have no idea why I've gone around my whole life just wholeheartedly believing that's what that book is about

After playing through story mode again, it can be said that the game is pretty much the same as before, although there are some minor changes to the dialogue.

Although the changes are so minor, it really makes you wonder why they even changed it to begin with. It also causes the Mandela Effect where it feels like you're remembering it differently.

That being said, I do like that the developers went out of their way to reference the Sonic games more, such as the Time Stones from Sonic CD, Green Hill Zone being from South Island, or Chemical Plant Zone from West Side Island.

My memory is flawless. It's this Reality's continuity that's the problem. Everything happened exactly as I remember it.
Any discrepancies are due to the Timeline rearranging itself after the fact. Obviously.
