A symptom of autism I see brushed over and mocked a lot is hyper-empathy, which is something that I experience a lot in my day-to-day life.

While it also sucks to be on the other end of the empathy spectrum, here's why having over-active empathy can suck too.

If you punch a stuffed animal or throw it, I will genuinely feel a pang of pain and tell you to stop. I also constantly feel guilty for not taking good enough care of or loving my stuffed animals enough and I think about them thinking that I don't actually care about them. I also feel guilty for leaving stuffed animals at the store, because Then They Will Never Get A Home. Do you see my problem?

I literally cannot handle if anyone is upset. If anyone is upset, I need to make them Not Upset or I feel like it's my fault they're upset. This makes me really susceptible to manipulation, because if you tell me that you are hurting, I Will Have To Fix It.

I can't throw food out. It makes me feel so bad. Even if stuff is rotten, I feel so incredibly wasteful. I mean I can, but the emotional toll is WAY more than it should be.

If I hurt someone feelings, it will stay with me for years. It can be something minor like an insensitive joke made age twelve, but it makes me lay awake at night.

I can get really upset about a story or a movie I watched, where someone was unfairly treated. I can literally get so angry over certain things that I read on the fucking internet, that it ruins my entire day.

Hope someone could relate to this and I hope it informed someone as well.

My mom wants a white little purse dog, she wants to name jt kevin regardless of it being a girl or boy, and I show her white little bitch dogs a lot as kevin inspo bc I have the selfish motive of wanting a pet while I mooch here at home during quarantine. So I showed her this gif

genuinely don't think i'm built for college and/or 40+ years of work. all i want to do is connect with other people and make friends and fall in love and travel and read books and do everything i want to do! and i don't want to work until i'm too old or tired to do any of those things! i just think it's evil that we have to spend our lives working even if we have no passion or drive for it

‘He was my everything’: Boy who drowned in Brookings pond remembered for smile, generosity

The body of Molu Zarpeleh, 10, who was reported missing last Thursday night, was recovered from a privately-owned retention pond along 12th Street South around 8:40 a.m. Friday after authorities searched the pond, according to a new release from the City of Brookings.

A tip that Zarpeleh had been pushed into the pond that circulated on social media has been redacted by the tipster, said Chelsea Bakken, public information officer for the City of Brookings. Investigators also reported that tips they received Friday related to circumstances surrounding the incident were not true but won’t state why. Police are ignoring it and ruling it an “accidental drowning but his mother says differently. 

“A 10-year-old boy would not just take his sandals off and walk into the water,” she said. “He didn’t know how to swim.”

Brookings police and the Brookings Fire Department searched for Zarpeleh until about 2:30 a.m. Friday before the search was stopped due to safety concerns, poor lighting and murky water, the release states. Searchers used pumps from Brookings Municipal Utilities and Brookings County to remove about 300,000 gallons of water from the pond during the resumed search Friday morning

“Molu died, but I can’t say ‘was’ yet,” Mole said. “He’s my first child. He’s my only son. I don’t want to use the word ‘was.’ I can’t imagine him not living.”
