This. Exactly this. Thank you for expanding on this in the exact way I meant.
potentially controversial Re-Animator post but it needs to be said
As someone who falls under the big three Herbert fandom headcanons (autistic, gay, and trans) I feel sort of disgusted with how this fandom handles him? He is consistently infantilized or otherwise made incompetent in some form or another. And I don't mean just giving him behaviors that relate to those traits that may occasionally come across as such to others. I mean you all seem to view him as having the same daily life competency as the average middle schooler. It's really strange and says a lot about how you all view autistic and trans people. And being trans or autistic does not immediately exempt you from this either. It needs to be said that just because you fall under these labels as well does not mean you can't contribute to these problematic stereotypes. You can be trans and still be ableist. You can be autistic and still be transphobic. And if you find yourself under both of these but still feel attacked by this post, maybe take a step back and examine any potentially internalized ableism/transphobia. I'm being so serious.

I must admit that it was also the result of projecting lmao
Ghostbusters headcanons because I've been absent lol
Fears/Phobias
Peter - Technically canon but most bugs. Especially roaches, earwigs, spiders (yes I know they're arachnids leave me alone), and probably centipedes - Heights (yes, i know it's canon in the rgb comics) - He never speaks about it but severe discomfort and phobic behaviors related to lockiophobia
Egon - Used to be afraid of the dark until leaving for college (because, yknow, the boogeyman) - Doesn't particularly enjoy being around clowns (like, yknow, the boogeyman) - He doesn't do typical closets and prefers to have dressers in closets where he has the doors removed
Ray - Not really any major fears, but absolutely cannot be around someone who is puking
Winston - Rodents as a whole (sort of canon with the mention of rats in the second movie) He genuinely cannot stand being near them or hearing them
Janine - Hates spiders - Hates mice specifically - Cannot stand going to get any sort of dental work done

Thank you autistic peter nation, I knew you'd get it.
Especially on the point of good and the bad of his character. Not to get too rambly again but growing us an autistic child with an additional anxiety disorder, he was one of the few characters I found myself in. (I have a list of characters I find myself in probably too much lmao)
Hello Ghostbusters nation, I'm back with a long winded ramble.
Listen listen listen, I love that we recognize Egon and Ray as autistic as a fandom. It's wonderful. And it speaks heavily to the great representation. (Thank you Dan Akroyd.) I would be willing to bet this is because Dan himself is autistic so, y'know, hell yeah.
What I would also like to remind everyone of: Peter is also autistic?? I see him erased from the discussion so much when we start talking about neurodivergency in Ghostbusters. Bill Murray himself is diagnosed aspergers. (Yes, I am well aware this term is since outdated, but I am not a licensed psychologist so I'm not going to change the wording and risk being even more incorrect)
I don't know about you guys but does it not feel at least a little strange that the only two we see constantly recognized as autistic are the two that can best fit the wider understanding of autistic characters? This is not me saying that Egon and Ray are bad rep by any stretch. I absolutely have no problem with them and genuinely think they are good rep. My point is that the elimination of Peter form these discussions often reads, to me at least, as another form of forcing characters into boxes and having strict expectations for what an autistic character can and can't look like.
I know I've probably posted something like this before but no, I won't shut up about it.
