i fear i wont articulate this correctly but at the end of the video as they are running away from the building filled with speak now memorabilia being destroyed so she can escape, taylor stops and looks back. and that little moment is so complex and heartbreaking to me because its like. she was trapped in there counting the days on the wall for when she'd be free. but its so clear on her face when she turns back that she didn't want to have to destroy all of the things she'd done just to break free from being locked away, to own her work again. she took her speak now versions painting (her rerecording) and ran. but she still looks back on this building filled with the other pieces she couldn't bring with and stops for a second as if in disbelief, awe, heartache even that this what it came to in order to survive. it shows on her face so clearly. and the rest of the crew yells for her that they have to leave (that its time to go if you will) and she bolts. but ! that pause and all it entails! it hurts. the rerecordings are a great thing in the sense that she gets to own her work but its so painful it happened This way

Speaking to the first point: I actually think she foreshadowed the issues with Joe quite a bit in her music and some fans chose not to pick up on it.

i think it’s a thing of her having written all these beautiful and romantic songs about him and holding onto that idea of him. she wrote these songs depicting him as the perfect man so they believe that he truly was this perfect partner and can’t imagine him having done any wrong if she wrote the most beautiful things about him.

but i also think misogyny plays a big thing into it and the grace that men get that women don’t ever get. people are just always willing to throw women under the bus for men and this is definitely a big example of it. and a lot of people romanticized their relationship and him being the perfect partner and want to keep that ideal of him because it helps them keep their faith in love and men, that’s just my take on it

People saying celebs are social construcs kinda feels the same as people in Ancient Rome being gladiators fight for honor.

Celebs have basically no pull against truly powerful people, and all of their drama/life is there to keep us happy (panem et circenses, etc etc).

People being outraged with Matty over fucking random shit that did not in fact hurt anyone beyond feelings of people who dont have two neurons to connect the dots (podcast stuff excluded I see how that can bother people); or them being outraged over Taylor being with him bcs of this... it only works out for politicians and people who are actually in charge. It is a great way for people to put focus on not a fuckibg thing.

The world will not get better if Taylor addresses this publicly (I pray to god she wont and I hope she deactivates her ig and just says fuck my public image). The world will not get better if Matty Healy apologizes (and also people will not be happy with that either so why should he?).

At least Matty has proven one thing: woke people and social justice warriors will be offended and outraged at any trivial thing. And will put their energies towards the most useless causes while never giving that same energy towards situations where they can create a change. Wouldnt be surprised if he is still putting on some show or smth.

People do not have to accept or agree with your opinion of a person. They will form their own opinions about the people they know in real life.
