Y'all are so quick to talk about how Adrian 'made' Rose date him but I never see anyone talk about the fact Avery legit compulsed Adrian into dating her clearly against his will for at least an entire month 😭

OFMD has officially been cancelled, and I am once again thinking about all the people in the world who nitpick diverse media to hell and back when it isn't 100% perfect, as if having nothing at all would be preferable.

I'm so fucking tired of good, earnest, diverse media getting held to ridiculous standards by both networks AND fans, and then getting cancelled.

It was supposed to be three seasons. David Jenkins fucking said it was supposed to be three seasons. And then the network dragged its ass on renewing for season 2, and now...no season 3.

FUCK this shit. I'm so tired of media by and for marginalized artists getting fucked over. I'm tired of marginalized people fighting for scraps and then getting the rug whipped out from under us.

Yeah, OFMD isn't the only thing out there. There are other things to go enjoy, for the moment. But the fact that it's the shows that are queer and multicultural that keep getting cancelled is pretty fucking transparent, and I've seen quite a lot of concern from people in the industry about the direction we're headed. The outlook is concerning. It's more important now than ever to support marginalized artists, whether they're making indie art or trying to get something made by a mainstream studio.

Our Flag Means Death. Warrior Nun. One Day At A Time. Willow. Dead End: Paranormal Park. First Kill. Q-Force. The Owl House. Steven Universe. A League of Their Own. Vampire Academy. I could go on, but I don't need to, because there are entire lists that have been curated by news sites: Gay Times, Out, Autostraddle, Pride, Movieweb, Collider.

There's a reason I spend so much time and energy studying things like the Hays Code and the history of censorship. This shit comes in waves, and the only way marginalized artists survive it is through community support, mutual aid, and being really goddamn loud.

So be loud. Make art. Support your fellow artists and the artists you love. We need each other if we're going to weather the storm.

Ok... Among the canceled shows that pissed me off, I would say Vampire Academy. For information, I am a big fan of the books, having read them when I was probably 11 / 12 years old and I have reread them quite often since. I didn't find the show crazy, but very enjoyable and much better than the film. Overall I was disappointed with its cancellation because the show had potential, even if it didn't absolutely break me since I preferred the books for the plot, the characters, the relationships, etc. Except, ironically, for one exception. Rose & Dimitri. Holy shit, how good were they on the show ?! So, I'll be honest, I loved them in volume 1, but over time, the Romitri romance got a little boring for me, even if I still loved him a lot, because my heart was monopolized by Adrian... Sorry... ? But in the show?! I will never be able to imagine anyone else with Rose than Dimitri! Their alchimi were literally fire! And I'm especially nervous that we won't get the sequel because of them! I wanted to see the rest of their relationship and see them finally conclude beyond hot kisses !

If Vampire Academy wasn't cancelled, I could see it's spin off Bloodlines ran side by side ala The Vampire Diaries & The Originals and I imagine it also would be loosely based and featuring Sydney and Adrian leaving Vampire Academy, taking Jill into hiding, posing as her adoptive parents or something like that and having AU Versions of Bloodlines storylines and characters, I doubt Plec would have kept Lee or even Eddie as Jill's love interest and created someone else, instead.

I know I’m late to the party, but I’ve seen a lot of discussion online that the vampire academy series was cancelled because it lost fans by being different from the books but tbh I blame peacocktv.

How do you release a series that has fans across the globe but you only offer to the US. I believe that it might’ve been accessible for a short period in the uk through a different service but this is just insane to me that they really thought it was a smart choice?.

Anyways I’ve been reading the books and I had seen the movie when it came out. I enjoy the show for going a different route it makes it less predictable and you don’t have to sit there and go “omg this happened in the books” every five minutes.

Sad to see it was cancelled but I’m not surprised since I had to watch it through a website that has p*rn pop ups 🤣.

Is any series ever safe from cancelation? If budget concerns and all sorts of excuses are a thing, why aren’t we ending the shows that go on for 20+ seasons to make room for other series to have a proper run? It’s exceedingly frustrating where storytelling is concerned, and it makes it incredibly difficult for viewers to trust new shows when this is becoming the norm. The latest victim of this is NCIS: Hawai’i, which I don’t even watch but can see the heartbreaking uproar because, once again, it’s the show with diversity that gets axed.

This has been an immense problem in the last five years, and it’s getting to a point where it’s tough not to question what’s happening behind the scenes on networks. Julie and the Phantoms, Shadow and Bone, Vampire Academy, How I Met Your Father, With Love, and NCIS: Hawai’i, among many others, all have the same things in common: diverse casts and LGBTQ+ representation.

I would love to live in the world where you can manage to convince this woman to do karaoke......but she will pick something that repeats the same phrase over and over again or tequila. She will make it so you will never ask her to do karaoke again.

Firstly she's not driving, she's rich enough to have a driver, so jot that down. But make sure the hotspot is working, have some snacks, make sure there's a bit of alcohol in the back seat, and that no one forgot to sound proof the divider so she can seem like a good boss and allow her driver to listen to music while she has silence or making a number of phone calls related to business.

Okay part 2 of this if she was taking it seriously, she would pick some medieval songs like "Ausente del alma mia" by Rafael Antonia Castellanos or opera. But if you want more modern music from her use one of those medieval covers to have her sing.

This will vary on which old man she's driving around. If its Elidibus she's gotta have a podcast and/or a full opera in the car playing because they will sit in absolute silence otherwise. If its Emet then 2 days prep on listening to him gripe about something or another, maybe have some equivalent of air pods in so she can tune him out. And if its her father Lahabrea......well yes he's sitting in the backseat but not because he thinks himself as deserving of a driver but because if they sat next to one another it could result in someone trying to kill the other or crashing the car. None of this applies to Carly and/or Zenos as she just needs to provide directions and snacks. She doesn't mind those two doing their thing because Carly is the one driving (which thank god because if not she and Zenos would be doing naughty things otherwise)

Sure. I'm still sad they cancelled the series. It had potential to grow a fandom with a few more seasons and maybe integrating the Bloodlines books later on.
