Time lines or I care too much about a fictional character.
First off, this is a quick warning to you all. Some of the stuff here is going to deal with the Antebellum Period right before the Civil War in the Deep South. This is going to deal with the Confederacy and race relations and a whole lot of historically accurate but highly objectionable material by todayâs standards. You have been warned.
So. Remember how I said I sat down and made a time line for him⌠well, this is pretty much it. Now, I could sit down and give the minutia of ever single battle of the Civil War he fought in, but honestly, thatâd take a lot of time, so Iâm just going to highlight some of them and give my reasoning behind it all.
Staring with my reasoning for his birth year. Iâm going with the age of the actor, which honestly, for that time period, Ethan Hawke would be considered âoldâ. The average life expectancy during this era was 37 and Ethan Hawke is 45. Knowing that the movie takes place in 1879 that places the date of his birth to 1834.
TIME LINE 1834 - Born in New Orleans, the son of  landed gentry. (heâs old money). His family hails from French fur traders that made it big and expanded their trading into a business. They ran the trading docks and ports. The year he was born, the family gets the trading contract for the very first gas company. (it brought this new fangled fuel to the city that was used in lights)
1835-1847 - Your standard upper class childhood. There were schools and tutors. Lessons on math and reading and languages. He would take trips with his father up river to learn more of the business. Most of his young life was controlled and dictated by the family patriarch. Just about everything was decided for him. from what he was going to wear to who he was going to marry all before the age of 10.
1847 - 1854 The Boarding School Years. Generally, well to do young men would be sent to boarding schools from the ages of 13 to the age of 20. These were basically colleges and would bring an even more formal education to those who could afford it. I believe that during this time is when he discovered his sexuality. He would go on to graduate Boarding School and rejoin hid fatherâs trading business as a full partner.
1861 The Civil War begins. Louisiana succeeds from the Union and there is a large call for able bodied men to fight. While Goodnight cares nothing for the politics of it all, he sees it as âromanticâ and as his âgod given dutyâ to stand for his beloved state. He  swears in and joins the 9th Louisiana Infantry Regiment. During the training phase, itâs discovered that heâs an amazing shot with a rifle and made a sharpshooter.
(aside - the 9th has an amazing and painful history, I really recommend reading up on them if you have any interest in it)
1861 - 1865 The Civil War is fought. The 9th fought 14 Battles in 1862, 6 in 1863, 8 in 1864, and finally 2 in 1865. In this time, the brigade suffered innumerable losses to both the fighting and to disease and starvation as well as from desertion. The highlights are as follows: - Second Battle of Manassas -The regiment ran out of ammunition and resorted to throwing rocks at attacking Union soldiers while defending the Unfinished Railroad - Battle of Chantilly - It was rumored that a sharpshooter from Company D killed Union General Kearney. This rumor is true. The shooter was Goodnight. - Battle of Sharpsburg (Antietam) - 22 confirmed kills. The casualties of the battle were a combined 22,717 dead, wounded or missing. General Lee later describes this battle as âArtillery Hellâ  - Battle of Fredericksburg  - Gatling Guns were used for the first time in combat against the South. Lots of people died. - Battle of Gettysburg - He was most likely put into use early in the fighting (Little Round Top) and was not part of Picketâs Charge (he just watched from the tree line) - Battle of Rapahannock Station - Over 1,600 Confederate prisoners were taken from the eight understrength regiments defending the bridgehead. Of the 1200 men of Haysâ Louisiana Brigade, 699 were captured. - Prisoner of War (Nov 1863 - March 1864) March of 1864 500 of the 699 men from the brigade captured at Rappahannock Station were exchanged and returned to duty - Siege of Petersburg - Appomattox Court House - the final battle and surrender of Lee to Grant signifying the war ends.
1865 - the return to Louisiana. He, like many, returned to their homes changed and broken men. While considered a hero, the physical and mental scars arenât going to go away. Goody gets hooked on Laudanum which was a very very common and easily obtained âmedicine; used for anything from pain to inability to sleep. (more on this in future ramblings) 1866 - The New Orleans Race Riots - former member of the 9th were enlisted to âkeep peace in the streetsâ. Goody leaves for the West. 1867-1868 - Bounty Hunting, usually small time warrants with little chance of actual violence, moving his way through Texas, probably towards the West cost or North into Canada. I believe he was trying to find a place where no oneâs heard of him. 1869 - Meets Billy Rocks in a saloon in Texas 1870 - 1878 - Travel with Billy, making money from Quick Draws and the occasional bounty, heading further north into Montana. Possible destination; Canada and the Northern Territories. 1879 - Rose Creek, Montana âââ And there you have it. I would love to see what others think. I just really love history

Name: Xavier Diego Montigo Vasquez
Age: Early 30â˛s
Face Claim: Diego BonetaÂ
Family: Vasquez (Older Brother)
Ship: Goodnight Robicheaux
Song: Massacre of El Kuroke by The Dead South
That's the way it had to be I grew up at the count of three Got no reason to repent They say a man is born to kill He learns his trade it becomes a thrill That's what they did to me then
Role in Movie and other cannon relevant information: The Thief, refused to leave his brotherâs side when the law came against them. The two became even more inseparable than when they were children. Been known to pickpocket and steal whatever he can get his hands on what ever it may be. Has been known to prefer a rifle, unlike Vasquez (who Xavier says canât shoot the broadside of a barn when using a rife). He also has been known to keep the company of trappers and traders, picking up on their languages and has become fluent in English, Spanish, French.Â
Personality (in a modern setting): A general disaster of a human being honestly, but a sweetheart. Itâs a miracle and pure luck that he has been able to survive this long in life. He loves his brother, and has been known to run and jump onto Vasquezâs back just for the hell of it. Heâs clever as a tack and has the knack for languages.Â
Additional Information: Has a wild friendship alongside Violet Robbicheaux, enjoys to have his hair played with (by an approved person), likes to color code and keeps meticulously organized notebooks based on his language studies, should not drink, he is not known to be able to handle his liquor well (runs in the family), is NOT a morning person, and prefers dogs over cats if given the choice.

What do you think the Seven have nightmares about?
Hey, thank you for the ask! I had a random, personal headcanon thing like this started, and it was great to get to dust it off and actually finish it!Â
Head Full of Ghosts
Vasquez: Vasquezâs nightmares usually include feelings of being pursued, while at the same time, heâs searching for something that he cannot find. He doesnât dare look behind him. He can hear hounds and hoofbeats, and the shouts of men who would make a trophy out of him. Occasionally, the people chasing him are the members of gangs he used to run with. Sometimes his horse is lame. He can never find a place to hide. Sometimes he finds himself in the town he used to live in, and is denied sanctuary by his family. On waking, heâs not sure what was so terrifying about the dream in the first place, but he feels scared and miserableâŚand sad.
Billy: The dreams that rattle Billy the most are the ones in which he is ineffectual in tasks heâs very good at. Sometimes his knives are missing from their sheaths, or the blades are so dull, they donât cut anything. Any punches he lands have no effect on his enemies. Sometimes there is something preventing him from helping Goodnight. His dreamscapes vary. Sometimes heâs on a ship. Sometimes heâs in some deplorable camp full of railway workers. When he wakes, he quickly calms himself, though the aggravation of having been so unnerved in the first place sticks with him. They are, after all, just dreams.
Sam: Sam dreams of war and slavery. His family, and the ruin that used to be his farm. Sometimes, in his dreams, Sam is after a bounty thatâs been eluding him for too long; someone who is and is not Bart Bogue. Then thereâs the woods. Samâs instincts scream at him not to enter, but going around will make him lose precsious time. The farther he goes, the thicker the forest becomes; the more the trees seem to crowd him. They groan and creak, and that plaintive noise reminds Sam of the sound a rope makes when it has been pulled taut. Sam keeps going and he finds it more difficult to breathe. He always wakes up before he makes it out of the woods.
Goodnight: On the worst nights, Goodyâs unconscious mind is a jumble of any number of horrible things. War, not being able to recognize his own reflection. There are nights he dreams he canât find his targets in his rifleâs crosshairs when itâs imperative that he do so. Then thereâs the owl. Thatâs as close to describing the thing that haunts his dreams. It has talons, and it shrieks. Goodnight can hear its wings, though he doesnât think owlsâ wings make sound when theyâre in flight. Itâs predatory. Itâs an ill omen. He can smell rot, and the owlâs voice becomes the cries of dying men. His voice intermingles with theirs as he screams himself awake.
Red Harvest: After nightmares, Red wakes from quietly, tears hot on his face. He chokes back a sob as he looks at the rest of camp, hoping no one has seen the result of his nightmare. He wonât sleep the rest of the night. Anything to avoid reliving images of disease sweeping away his people like a cruel tide, or or being crowded onto reservations. Those things are usually mixed with themes of being completely, and hopelessly lost, or with being unrecognizable to his people upon returning to them. And climbing. There are hills in his dreams. Hills that no matter how hard he climbs, or digs in with his fingers, he canât seem to surmount them.
Jack Horne: Jack becomes a monster in his most vivid nightmares. He becomes a vicious, destructive force, devoid of compunction or mercyâŚand he knows that heâs been that thing before. Or something very close to it. He canât stop all the heartbreak, and rage, and violence. He damns himself over and over again with every brutal act, and somehow his family has seen all of it. He wakes up with hurt in his heart and the overwhelming feeling of shame and guilt. The loss of his family eats at him, and he he feels worse yet when thereâs a part of him that recognizes heâs grateful his family never saw what he became.
Josh: The war isnât excluded from Joshâs nightmares, but thereâs one aside from that that gets under his skin. He often finds himself back in a brothel that was familiar to him in his youth. Heâs in the too-crowded bar. Ethel, Maria, his cardsâŚthe things that are his are nowhere to be found. Alcohol sloshes in his gut, and he is painfully aware of the warm press of too many oily bodies. His eyes dart around for a way out, but all of the doors, except for the one leading into the blackness of the basement, are shut tight. Despite his best efforts, he ends up in the depths of the brothel. He canât see, and he knows heâs not alone.
