“Business Cards are Dead” Really?!

At a recent local networking meeting, we were enthusiastically informed that “business cards are dead!” 

What do you think about this? Surely, we’re not the only business who thinks this is codswallop?

Perhaps we’re biased. Designing and printing business cards accounts for 25% of our business, but we genuinely believe that there’s something relaible and professional about the traditional business card. They are a physical reminder to follow up an encounter and are [potentially] your first branded impression - an effective business card appeals to the reader and is striking, unfortgettable and states what services you can offer them.  They’re a bit like a pair of shoes - they can tell someone a lot about you.

There have been a few apps created to make the process of trasnsferring data from business cards to your mobile, or to have e-business cards on your phone which can transfer via QR code. However, these have not been streamlined enough to make them 100% effective and there are too many problems...and a bit like the book vs ebook debate, people can appreciate the advantages of both. A lot of people love to have an e-version and a hardcopy. 

We have stacks of business cards that have accumulated over the years, but we have arranged our own system so that we can refer back to all the different companies quickly - not just upon initial contact, but sometimes, all these years on too! This also means that even if technology fails we still have all of the cards. 

We’d love to hear your thoughts. Are business cards dead? Is it time to go purely digital? Will we ever go fully digital?

We love our Monday team meetings...this week is odd because it’s a Tuesday! 

We are so proud that people love to work here - all ideas are welcome and considered, plus we laugh whilst we work. The Shout Spark & Go office is relaxed yet professional.

John - Director, Dad, Dreamer and Everton Enthusiast… Over the past week or so I have been thinking very much about my role within Shout Spark & Go and Educational Life.

Offering design print and advertising solutions I am the face of the company, shame it is not a pretty face but what can you do!

When I go networking I try to promote the benefits of advertising and how it can work for businesses but also the different types of marketing and what is needed by most people and why it is needed. For example, the networking I attend allows you to have a roller banner, the benefit of this is that your business is seen by all that are attending for at least 2 hours, your roller banner represents you and your brand can only grow stronger if you are promoting it in the right way.

Had a few meetings this week which are really exciting and if they come off our business will grow exponentially, watch this space, but there may be some new magazines coming out soon with the Shout Spark & Go stamp on them.

Why, in the 21st Century does the internet still have such a stronghold on how much work can be done! Recently we have had really slow internet speed and it has been a real issue in our office, hopefully we will be able to change this problem soon enough.

At home things have been reasonably quiet for me, as work has been getting more and more busy I have, sadly, not been around much and as such I haven’t been there for the bedtime tantrums and the homework strops. This is not ideal as I actually, really love being around the kids and want this to change, this is why we have brought in our new designer! Bill is fabulous and his work shouts awesome and we can now work smarter as a team and get so much more done.
