Self discoveries are haaaaard. I struggled with my gender identity for years... When I was 16 I first started shopping at D-Tox and it was liiiife changing for me. I suddenly felt so much more comfortable and confident. I still liked dressing feminine every once and a while but I just loved this new boyish look I was able to achieve. Coming out is difficult, no matter what you’re coming out as or how many times you’ve done it. Honestly sometimes the most difficult person to come out to is yourself; some days I look at pictures like these ones and I’m like “omg how did I not know I was trans/nonbinary?” But then I think back to those days and how I felt. How didn’t I know? Denial lol. It took me years and years to accept this about myself! Some reasons are shame related; growing up Mormon gave me a lot of deep deep internalized homophobia/transphobia. I was ashamed, and denied it because I didn’t want it to be true. That, but also the fact that I never fully identified with “trans man” and I had no idea that being nonbinary was a thing I could be! Anyway, this was a lot of rambling but I realized I’ve never really shared on social media how my nonbinaryness came to be :) so I’m sharing for those who are curious; but also those who need to hear it ! To those struggling with self identities: It’s okay if you’re still figuring yourself out. Be kind to yourself, be patient.
