My new batfam/batman headcanon is that Damian doesn't mean to sound so elite when he talks, but rather it's because when he was learning English (as it is not his first language), he was only taught the very formal versions of words. It's like if you're learning Japanese and end up saying "mōshiwake gozaimasen" instead of just "gomen" every time you mean to say "I'm sorry".

Wesley gets tired of trying to balance his life. He can't play with his friends; it's childish and his responsibilities come first. He can't contribute to the ship; that's an adult's job, so he needs to sit down and shut up. He needs to attend class and get good grades; he won't make it to The Academy if he doesn't. He doesn't know if he wants to go to The Academy; he had never been asked before. He reaches a point when he has to ask himself: when everyone expects everything from you, at what point do you have nothing left to give?

Geordi, Data, & Wesley Friendship, Minor Troi/Riker, and a bit of Picard bashing. Rated T for past child abuse

I've been on a Batfam fanfiction kick, and I'm a sucker for angsty fics. I've been reading some where Damian was not only abused by Talia (brainwashed/trained in The League) but also by Bruce (Mostly neglect, like completely ignoring his existence while he more or less gets raised by his brothers and Alfred). However, as much as I like these fics, I cannot get behind the ones where Bruce is outright yelling and physically hurting him, and Alfred just stands around not doing anything about it (often being too afraid to confront him). Because, like, Alfred? That Alfred? The Alfred that raised Bruce? The one that helped raise the batkids? The one that is an army veteran who hides so many guns around the manor that not even he nor Batman can find them all? The same Alfred that said, "Perhaps you relied on my master's vow against using lethal force. Let me assure you that I subscribe to no such niceties." THAT Alfred?

PLEASE. Alfred would see Bruce scream at and purposefully be mean to Damian and promptly chastise him, stand in the way, and attempt to fix whatever fight they were having. And if he saw him beating him, just whaling on him black and blue for the fun of it? I have no doubt Alfred would use his handy-dandy shotgun to give Brucie a new belly button.

This is very specific scenario, but I get so FURIOUS whenever it's revealed that a character wasn't supposed to go through their hardships/trouble BY THEIR DYING PARENT'S REQUEST, but they STILL DO because someone with power wanted them to.

One interesting thing about being an adult that I've discovered is that not only can I go try new foods, but I can go back to old childhood foods that I "didn't like" and come to realize my mom just can't cook.
