not people openly body shaming Tom Holland. And then people defending his physique like “Spider-Man would be more pudgy!!”. Hey so! That’s actually an actor— not just a character. I know that there is a (very slight) chance he’s just trying to match the character physically, but I honestly seriously doubt that. People are way too comfortable talking about other people’s bodies and dehumanizing celebrities </3

okay, so marvel listened to the fans, and had a more grounded movie that didn’t depend on millions of cameos or the multiverse, and now the movie is flopping at the box office?? am I seeing this right???
their past two movies have actually been a good response to heavy criticism, and I just hope they look at the critics rather than the cash they are making

not to compare trauma or anything (but these are fictional characters so whateverrr) but Jake Sully has just as much of a reason to tell Neytiri not to hate as much as she has the right to hate
idk why some people always seem to forget that Jake has lost:
His parents
His brother
His son
Let alone having to reckon with the fact that his entire species has, in a way, disowned him. He is raising 3.5 kids in a WAR! Is he going to be perfect? Is he going to make every right decision? Poor guy has trauma, and has already lost Neteyam. Yet, he still believes that he can’t hate the people who have wronged him. Is that not at least commendable? Is that not at least a sign of good character???
“BUT NEYTIRI HAS LOST SO MUCH!” They BOTH have. All of their feelings are valid, Neytiri has every right to hate humans and the RDA, but living like that, having to raise children in that state will not benefit her or her family.
the Jake and Neytiri wars need to stop. Like why are you asking me “Jake or Neytiri”? Umm, those are my parents so both???

also, I know marvel doesn’t care about their fans if they kill off the thunderbolts* early on just because they didn’t make a trillion dollars. News flash marvel: you can’t put your name on a movie and expect it to be a success anymore!! Restore some faith in your audience and then you can make new characters, but please, take care of the groups you have already
Thunderbolts* was a box office fail because it was a strainer (Yap Session)
Tumblr media
It sifted through people who cared abt the longevity of the mcu. Lemme explain—
There are three main reasons, i think, why the Thunderbolts* failed despite being a very good movie
first - even though i HATE this excuse, it is right: there was a lot of homework to do for this movie. We had 6 characters and half the mcu of homework to get updated on why they were important (mainly because of Bucky but i digress). If you’re a more casual fan, I wouldn’t expect you to do allat just to see this movie, plus, sometimes people go into marvel movies just for the characters. Aside from Bucky and maybe Yelena, there were not many characters to see this movie for (not to say the characters weren’t good, but 1) many of these characters have not been seen since their initial release (John, Ava, Alexei) and 2) Bob is a brand new character)
secondly - let’s be soooooooo fr. Marvel is not very dependable anymore. It’s always a hit or miss, the critics and audience score have so much variation, it’s hard to really tell if it’s a B grade 80% or an actual 80%. A lot of people aren’t willing to take that risk, ESPECIALLY if there are no characters that stand out to them.
lastly - prices. Let’s get down to the basics here people: Movies are so expensive these days. I went to go see Thunderbolts* in IMAX with my dad, all that plus concessions cost us $80. With that, plus the inconsistency of marvel, plus no outstanding characters, why would any casual fans (aka the wide number of viewers) go and watch thunderbolts*??
And that’s exactly why it was a strainer.
No, I don’t think you’re not a marvel fan just because you didn’t watch the Thunderbolts. I just think that for the most part, it was a more fan centric movie, for the fans specifically. It’s not a casual marvel film. There is so much background that makes the movie so much more hard hitting for people who follow the universe. I’m just happy I got to see my mannn (John Walker 😍)

the mcu’s real problem (and how it may be fixed) - Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts* spoilers??
“THE MCU IS BACK” everybody says as an another marvel movie with a score above 80% comes out.
The problem with post-endgame Marvel is not that it’s too woke. It’s not that none of the movies are good. It’s not even because of the multiverse.
It’s inconsistency in story telling, and disorganization, coupled with bad writing.
Marvel’s problem isn’t that they are too woke. You can’t critique a piece of media solely on their political opinions. You can disagree, but it is not a good criticism, and doesn’t hold up where it matters. Marvel’s problem isn’t that they are always bad now. Wandavision, Loki, TFATWS, No Way Home, GOTG 3, Wakanda Forever, Shang-Chi, etc. Their stories are not completely without errors, but even their “bad” projects people seem to still enjoy. They are just not consistently good, and often leave stories and characters unvisited. And their issue is NOT the multiverse. I’m tired of people acting like this wasn’t an inevitable thing that was going to happen, and honestly, we have gotten such interesting stories because of it (like some of the ones I mentioned above). Some projects handle it better than others, but in the end, the theater was screaming when Andrew and Tobey showed up in No Way Home.
I think the reason pre-Endgame marvel was so good, was because it was very grounded in a specific comic-book movie niche, and was, for the most part pre-planned with a narrative that haunted the entire story until the crescendo that was End Game. The truth is— this entire story was just about the age of Iron Man and Tony Stark. From the birth of his superhero to the death of his ego. It was Tony’s story in the end. When it ended, it seems that the execs didn’t even know this, and didn’t have a new character to follow/didn’t know about the one they had yet (Doom).
That is why I think recent marvel movies such as The Thunderbolts* and Fantastic Four are getting better. For the first time in a while, we are having consecutively good MCU movies. Why? Because, once again, there is somebody haunting the narrative. Maybe not in the films just yet, but we viewers are just waiting for the slightest peek of a green cloak and steel mask. How ironic that this character is also played by RDJ. That was marvel’s charm really, it followed the hero and villain in a story that was accompanied with a plethora of characters. It followed Tony and Thanos. Now it follows
Doom and Franklin? Maybe idk. And yes, even though the writing is objectively better in these movies, and they weren’t heavily political, and the multiverse wasn’t as prevalent, I think that this clear target has really helped the writers.
Anyway, what do you all think?? Do you think the MCU is back? Or is it yet another false alarm đŸ«©

Chris Evans is so right about his career being ruined after leaving Marvel. No, it’s not just because he left marvel, but it’s because—
He is NOT a comedy actor and he keeps taking on roles in comedy movies or playing comedic relief characters. His comedy is awkward and obviously acting (at least to me)
I don’t know if it’s his fault, or a styling issue, but he looks the exact same in all of his movies. Just polished hair and a beard, with that modern masculine style. It doesn’t matter what genre the movie is. It’s giving the Dwayne Johnson effect, accept, instead of always being some guy in a jungle, Chris is just some guy.
He needs to switch up his aesthetic and take on more serious roles. I think he really underestimates his acting abilities, and he has had some good roles. But man, if I was Chris’ agent? He’d already have an Oscar by now

Susan Storm IS mother!! (Heavy Fantastic Four: First Steps Spoilers)
So I keep seeing people online complaining that Susan Storm’s only personality trait was that she was a mother.
Mmkay, let me spell it out for you since I guess we can’t read context freaking clues: Susan and Reed were trying for a baby for TWO YEARS. Before Franklin was even born she was told to give him up. Then the entire team risked their lives to escape Shalla-Bal and Galactus just to get them home safely. She was given not even half a year with him before she was confronted once more with the reality. Then the entire world went against her (albeit for a short amount of time) because she would not and could not give up her own flesh and blood.
We do know what maternal instincts are right? I have reason to believe that the only reason Sue could push Galactus that far back was because of the sheer adrenaline she was feeling (for all you who say that Galactus is weak). We’ve heard the stories of woman lifting cars just to get to their baby. Plus— was Reed not freaking out more than Sue??? Even before Galactus showed up lol. And they have EVERY right to, might I add. They are parents. Sue is birthing a separate life! Imagine you tell a woman you wish she didn’t talk about her kids alll the time??? Are you kidding me! (Vanessa literally munched down on her role, she devouredddd)
Aaany way, Doom should get ready to get absolutely bodied by Sue in Doomsday đŸ’šđŸ©” have a inice night
