Remember kids! NEVER save left-over antibiotics! You should never have leftover antibiotics, because you have to finish the whole course! Not doing so, or giving your antibiotics to someone else who hasn’t been prescribed them is how we got superbugs, that are resistant to antibiotics!
ALWAYS finish your antibiotics, even if you don’t think you’re sick anymore! NEVER give your antibiotics to other people, there is no guaruntee they will have any effect, or the same effect, and without a full course, will not help them even if it is the right medicine for the job.
BOTH cases result in resistant superbugs, which are dangerous to everyone, and hurt everyone. You might think you’re helping your poorer friends who cannot afford an antibiotic/to be seen by a doctor, but you’re not. You’re just hurting everyone.

A lot has been said about Leebeebee's existence, much negative, but personally I think she's a great addition. Not only because I like when characters being handsy/flirty/objectifing are portrayed as being weird and creepy as fuck so everyone can feel how I (an ace) feel 94% of the time, but because I think she's there, in large part, to be a counterpoint to Murderbot itself.
LBB is weird. She has no filter, no apparent social skills, and she is soooooo suspicious. Like, it is really obvious she's up to something by the time she finally pulls that gun out. But no one, with the possible exception of Gurathin (I can't quite tell if he's suspicious or just like this with anyone he doesn't know well) really bats an eye at her. They think she's a bit odd, but they wave it off as cultural differences or shock or whatever. She gets the benefit of the doubt.
Unlike Murderbot. Who is questioned and side-eyed for almost everything it says. It's on the verge of a nervous breakdown for the first four episodes because they're paying attention to it and they are thisclose to guessing something is up. If even one other person was as wary as Gurathin, Murderbot would have been toast (going by Ratthi's 'you don't trust anyone' comment I'm guessing Gurathin tends toward the paranoid, especially with company people/equipment).
Because LBB is human. And Murderbot is not. And it's not that the PresAux bunch are lying when they say they believe Murderbot is a person, they do - theoretically. On paper. But that doesn't stop them from having preconceived biases. It doesn't stop them from consuming the same media as everyone else, where SecUnits are always going on murder sprees. So their guard is up around MB even when it hasn't really done anything (see: their suspicion that it's been hiding the faulty maps from them) and it is not up around LBB, even when she's asking for specifics about their research and asking where monster attacks happened.
And I think that's very deliberate. The PresAux people are good people, but good intentions don't automatically give you the tools to be a good person in every circumstance. They believe Murderbot is a person on an intellectual level, but they're having trouble getting that belief to an emotional, instinctual level. Mensah is the closest, after getting to see it watching its show and singing its theme song. But it's a viewpoint that's going to take work, and I think the difference in how they treat LBB and how they treat MB really helps show that, and I think that's doing a lot of good build-up for how season 1 is (likely) going to end

I get to be more free as an adult than I ever did as a child and I think more kids need to know that. as a high schooler part of what made my depression so bad was being told over and over again that it was the most carefree time of my life. while I was trapped in an abusive home + amongst bullies at school + in a body that wasn’t right for me. opportunities to be carefree don’t end when you turn 18. you can be more you than ever as an adult and that’s such a gift. I know ‘it can get better’ is an annoying thing to see over and over when you’re as trapped as I was back then. and I know that if you’re still a kid you deserve to be free right this second. but it can and will get better and this is not where life stops being interesting. promise

I don't think younger/newer users fully grasp the shit show that ace discourse was around 2014-17
It was so hostile that, to this day, discussions that begin to derail just enough can make me physically nauseous, some specific mockery trigger crying sessions years later. We lost most accounts with any sort of ace positivity. There was no information, no support, and all this damage was done predominantly by other queer people.
All this to say that you, however you identify yourself, should be engaging with aphobic comments the same way you do any hate. We don't sugarcoat or try to be comprehensive with people who are blatantly racist, homophobic or terfs, so why give it a pass just because it's coming from a queer person? I see how this tolerance goes and it's done enough damage as it is.

If it comes from parents who model the behavior they want to see, then this is good parenting.
The problem is that many parents don't model this behavior. Many parents are authoritarian and rule by fear. Many parents take advantage of the fact that they're bigger, they control the finances, their power is upheld by society, and their children are dependent on them. And they complain when their child starts treating people the exact same way.

as a severely mentally ill 14 year old, I remember thinking “the medical system would treat me better if I was physically ill and not mentally ill” and then I coincidentally developed multiple chronic illnesses and found out that actually they dgaf even when you’re essentially bedridden

"there should be some kind of test you have to take before having kids" -> wrong, extremely dangerous and highkey eugenicist and racist "the youth should have safe and effective legal pathways at their disposal to make sure their human rights are constantly protected and upheld" -> based, centers the youth, gives minors more power to fight inequality and does not reinforce the idea that parents are immune to scrutiny from their kids

Don't get me wrong, I love seeing the asexual/aromantic/aroace pride posts, but I wished they included aplatonics too. I always look at them hoping they'll include me, and a majority forget that aplatonic as a term even exists. :/ Please people mention us more often, it doesn't hurt.

The sentences "Asexuals can still have sex" and "Aromantics can still date" need to go up on the high shelf for everyone except aces and aros talking about their own experiences. From now on, everyone else has to use the revolutionary new phrase "Asexuals and aromantics can do whatever the fuck they want forever."
