The Southern Cross
One of our Head Administrators, Woodrat, is currently working on a new setting for the server to make it new accessible. Our current setting, the Northern Star, is far too large for our player-base, and brought plotholes to many stories, being a multi-level ‘city’ in an asteroid.
The new map will be much smaller and will try to minimize these issues. It will consist of two parts, a portion in space, and a portion on the ground on the planet of Sif. The space station will serve as a relay between the North Star and the planet it orbits. We believe this setting will allow the player-base to do much more, and it will bring it together rather than spreading it apart as a larger map would. It is still a work in progress, but you should see more news upcoming if you watch our main blog and forums.
The negative name of the map, often associated with real-world colonialism and the associated racism, is intentional- the setting is a colony created by an ultra-powerful corporation abusing the capitalist system. We apologize to any aboriginals or natives that may take offense to this name, and please do tell us if you do- we wish to take note.
Please send any questions or comments to our ask box.

Sorry, Everyone.
We’ve received backlash due to the language used in one of our previous posts. We will be overhauling this Tumblr in order to fix these errors.
We also apologize for attacking Hippie Station, and respect everyone’s right to an opinion. We were simply trying to put Polaris into perspective.

Taking Root!
We’re happy to see this Tumblr already being noted across the Space Station 13 community. The notes on Tumblr may seem low, but there’s discussion going on not only in our own community, such as the Discord, but also in other communities, such as Baystation’s Discord! We do hope these posts inspire people to become part of our great community, and thank you for the encouragement and support.

Introductory Guide To Polaris
If you’re new to Space Station 13 and stumbled across this Tumblr, Space Station 13 is a Role-Playing Game. It’s more like a forum role play than a traditional RPG, with a heavy emphasis on the RP part.  It’s an LGBTQ+ friendly environment, with features allowing for characters to express their identification. There are many options which allow for players to set their character’s gender, including non-binary options (Neuter and Plural are stand-ins for these options. We apologize for the names, the coders should fix these to label non-binary pronoun selection soon.).
Sadly, many other Space Station 13 communities can’t even get to the point of common decency. Some servers running on Space Station 13 based code even include gratuitous scenes of sexual assault and even rape. Some of them are regularly showing blatant racism and homophobia. These people seem to show no regard for equality among ethnicities, identifications and preferences. Polaris attempts to combat this, giving a safe space for people to hide away from this frankly disgusting behavior.
To start Space Station 13, you must first sign up for and download BYOND, the engine it runs off of. Then, you connect to the Polaris server itself. From there, you open character setup and begin setting up your character. You can make your character almost anything you want, from any background, just please make an attempt to respect the lore found here.
You can find more information on how to actually play and roleplay here, as well. You can find our main website here and join the Discord community here.
We welcome you to Polaris, and we hope you enjoy your stay.

Tumblr is Now Live!
In an attempt to increase publicity and population for our server, we’re starting to advertise and post on this Tumblr, a community we’ve decided aligns well with what we wish to model ours as! We’ll attempt to keep it up to date with the blog in the future.
