Hey, the ACLU is getting people to send letters to your Reps to have Congress pass the No Kings Act.
This act would make constitutional amendments to ensure that even sitting presidents are held liable for their actions. That NOBODY is above the law.
Their goal is 150k messages sent and at the time of writing this they're about 2.1k off from that goal!

if you're cringing at the genre conventions of the genre you are writing in then why the hell are you writing in it. either have something substantial to say about those conventions or shut the hell up! i will not cringe alongside you at superhero powers and spaceship battles and big eldritch worms and bone magic. i came to this story to SEE that shit and I don't appreciate it when an author tries to pretend they're above the very things they're selling themselves on
#I love love love pastiches and parodies and deconstructions and subversions#but you have to love the genre#you have to REVEL in it#I love when the parody is so sincere that it ceases to be a parody and is instead a deeper exploration of tropes#the orville does this with star trek#it starts out all 'oh what if star trek but they can say fuck'#and genuinely becomes a fun example of what makes star trek good#I especially love superhero pastiches and deconstructions#and I always get 'oh so you must love the boys'#I hate it it has nothing interesting to say to me it hates what makes superheroes good#vs invincible which may poke a little fun at the genre and definitely accomplishes a deconstruction#but then takes your hand and asks you to revel in the ridiculousness of aliens and magic and everything in between#shout out to the once and future nerd especially for being one of my favorite pieces of high fantasy media of all time#toafn is such a love letter to tolkien and westerns and so much more and it's such a brilliant and thoughtful examination of tropes#everybody listen to toafn
