I’m still alive! Just finished making this dress for a Ms.Frizzle costume :)
The design was a bit of a journey since I couldn’t find the exact pattern I wanted but we got there in the end. This is a combined and modified result of a 1950s skirt pattern and 1950s shirt pattern. I’ll have the shoes and earrings eventually so maybe I’ll post those
I’ll have you know that the wave fabric does not include the fish. I had to individually cut each fish from a separate fabric, hem them, and stitch them onto the dress.

Just finished restoring a Columbia Graphonola (model unknown please tell me if you know)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can’t figure out what model it is, which makes it hard to figure out a construction year, but this lovely thing is somewhere around 110 years old (circa 1910s).
This was an interesting restoration as I already knew the wood was in bad shape, but didn’t discover the full extent until I got it home and got to work. It was positively ate up with mold, and the original floor and bottom piece of the record rack could not be saved. Everything else barring a few screws and nails is original!
The wood itself needed a deep clean, some re-gluing, and a good polish, but came together pretty quickly.
It’s not a perfect restoration as the actual mechanism still runs a bit on the slow side but I absolutely LOVE it and have plenty of antique records to play on it

I know, I know, I never post anymore and that’s because I really don’t draw much anymore and haven’t wanted to post what I have drawn.
Anyway, I went to a natural history museum and thought about a Dunkleosteous terrelli (my favorite fossils to find in museums) mermaid using the exoskeleton I saw as a helmet/mask. I’m actually really proud of how this turned out.
Back into the void I go I guess

Why can’t I be safe in my own home? Why must the wasps find a way in through the vents just to harass me?

I’ve had trouble drawing lately, stalling often before I can even start sketching or before I can finish a sketch. Today I had an art stream pulled up in the background and saw that the artist didn’t sketch, they just dove straight into the line art and just had fun with it. I stopped letting myself overthink, no reference picture, no time to stare off into space, just start putting things on paper. I’m really happy I did, because it feels nice to have something that I’m happy with all finished and ready.
This is a battle map for my current campaign. [feel free to use if you want to] I’ve been thinking about this location a while, but kept trying to plan every detail so I never got around to drawing it. It may never be used, or may need edits before the battle, but I don’t really care about that right now. I’m so darn proud of it in this moment that I’m just going to throw this here.
If you can’t seem to start a creative project right now because you keep trying to plan every detail, try just diving in. You don’t even have to work on the one you’re stalling on. Just pick up whatever your tool is and make something. It feels nice to just create after so long.

I know I haven’t been posting lately, but not much has really been going on. I’ve got some fun new antiques, destroyed a fountain pen in an attempt to restore it, have a lot of homework, all that stuff.
Anyway, in all the madness I got a new planner with a different layout from the ones I’ve been using for over 7 years since I won’t need an academic calendar once I graduate. This new planner has a fun little free space area I’ve been using to create weekly collages. Here are the three I’ve done up to this point. It’s nice to use all these stickers I’ve been hoarding.

The knees of my mother’s favorite jeans gave out and she asked if I could patch them up and embroider some flowers on them for her. This is my first shot at darning and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out :)
The fabric is still pretty thin but hopefully this’ll give them a little more life

The rest of the set!

Made some minis for my players today and turned the extra clay into condition markers. I think they turned out pretty well! I still have another player and some NPCs to make minis for but that’s going to have to happen later.

My newest project’s all finished!
Note: my dress-form (essentially a mannequin) is a little bit bigger than me so I couldn’t button the dress on it, but it looks better than laying it out on the floor so dress-form it is.
Completely handmade with actual vintage Bakelite buttons and belt buckle! I have tags that my great grandmother would sew into clothes that she made, so I stitched one into the inner collar. I absolutely love it and can’t wait to wear it!

A skirt I recently made from a 1968 skirt pattern. I made it for my sister, who requested some elastic in the waistband, so I was able to work in a little elastic section in the back. I even made a matching scrunchie :D
I love the fabric she picked!

I’ve been thinking about the computer games I played when I was little (didn’t finished 90% of them, I never claimed to be good at games)
So one impulse buy later me and Pixie are going on a nostalgia trip as soon as this stupid CD comes in. Hopefully it’ll actually run on Windows 10.
