Roxanne’s answer made Kingsley grin. At least this could still hold some entertainment for a little while longer. Besides, she was very pretty. “You can just call me Kingsley,” he said softly - although to others, he might not have been as soft - and chuckled, “Sorry, I’m used to having the attention on me from galas with family and what-not,” Kingsley shook his head, “But tell me more about you, Roxanne. I know we were in the same house and all that, but I barely know anything personal about you.”

She realized how odd it was. It wasn’t unusual for the Weasley name to garner attention, she’d grown used to the stares, but now each of the stares were for the man across from her. “Well, Kingsley, I have to say...It’s nice to have the attention on me. It’d be different if I’d done something worth the attention.” Roxanne took a deep breath. “For starters, you can call me Rox. What do you want to know?”

“What’s so wrong about my fashion sense?” Alice questioned, looking down to her outfit now. A pair of jeans, more ripped than not hung high at her waist. A shirt that looked shrunk from a bad wash draped over her smaller chest, baring a little mid-drift. A large bomber jacket topped it all off along with her broken down leather boots. “Maybe I should style your wardrobe?”

“Nothing’s wrong with your style, it’s just very...monotone. And I mean that in the best way! It’s very you, and I love it, but you need at least one statement outfit that’ll really wow people.” Her smile faded slightly. “...If you agree to let me style an outfit, I will let you do the same thing for me. Deal?”

“It was a couple of weeks ago. Things just… weren’t working anymore I guess.” Lucy let out a humorless laugh and held on to Roxanne’s hand, appreciating the contact. 

A pang of guilt washed over her. How had she not known about the breakup? Sure, they all had a lot going on, but was it really that easy to be distant from her family. “If there’s anything I can do to help? I want to be here for you.”

Ever since he had been put on the Puddlemere team, Kingsley’s ego inflated a huge amount. Not to mention how much more it did whenever he saw a girl blushing from his words. Chuckling, he shook his head, “I’ve got a great buzz lasting, but not drunk.” Kingsley grinned, “Why m I putting you off?”

She paused before answering. “Not yet,” she settled on. Roxanne tilted her head a bit. “I’ve dealt with far worse than a buzzed Skeeter-Kingsley. Though I’m starting to think you’re the one garnering attention, not me.”

Alice looked at Roxy as if she were mental before giving another shake of her head. “I’m sure there are, but imagine if it stuck like that. You’ve got the face for it, Rox, I think I’d look like a scrappy dog or something.” She ran her fingers through her hair, much shorter these days as it hung just below her shoulders. When it grew long you could see her waves, but they always made Alice feel so young.

“You never know until you try,” she said with a laugh, but decided to let it drop. “One of these days, though, I will convince you to let me style your wardrobe. I love you, but that doesn’t mean I love your fashion sense.”

Lucy sighed and looked down at her hands. She had been too candid in her words. And too thoughtless. Her mind might have as well been blank for how well she used it. “Dani and I broke up. And I just… I miss her.” 

“You and Dani...Oh, Luc, I’m so sorry.” She reached over to take her hand, giving it a small squeeze. “How--Why--” Roxanne cut herself off both times, not exactly sure what to ask. “When did this happen?”

“I wonder what its like to have a blank mind. I imagine it must be really relaxing to not have to think about things and just be.” Lucy hummed a little at the idea. “Do you think it’s possible? Maybe there’s some sort of potion…”

The words startled her. She knew, or she hoped, Lucy didn’t honestly want her mind to be completely blank. “Luc,” she started gingerly. “What’s wrong? And I mean what’s really wrong--and don’t tell me there isn’t anything wrong, I think we’re way past that excuse.”

“Yeah, everything’s alright Rox. Just… thinking.” Lucy shrugged and covered her cousin’s hand with her own, giving it a squeeze. “It’s still thinking when your mind just sort of wanders right? Or is there another word for it?”

Her smile faded slightly. She understood a wandering mind, but it wasn’t always a pleasant thing. “I-I don’t know...I think you’re always thinking about something. A blank mind is different than a wandering mind, right?”

“Oh, nothing, I love it!” Alice quickly explained,turning her vacant stare into a smile. I was more thinking what my hair would like that way, or if I could even do it, but I decided you’re probably the only person who would like amazing with the curls.”

She pulled at the curl until it was taut and then let it go, feeling it brush against her neck. “You never know until you try it. There’s straightening spells, I’m sure we could find one to show you what you’d look like with curls.”

Kingsley’s eyes followed Roxanne’s a it went to his drink. A small chuckle surpassed his lips. It would take much more than that to get him drunk. Yet there was a lovely light buzz coming up that seemed to make him much more pleasant. “That’s not necessarily a bad thing though. Attention usually goes where it’s well deserved.”

She blushed again. Though she understood the mentality of wanting to offer someone compliments, Roxanne was never quite used to being on the receiving end. “Well, thank you...How drunk are you right now?”

She glanced down at his drink, eyes a bit wide. Still, she couldn’t help but blush and pull her hand away from her hair. “T-Thank you…I thought I’d try something new and it’s definitely gotten more attention than I thought it would…” Rox cut herself off before she started rambling, eyes moving down to look at her cup of tea.

“You don’t have to apologize, Luc.” She smiled, reaching across the table to gently place her hand on her cousin’s arm. “I get it. Is everything okay?”

“Thanks,” she said with a small smile. “People always say that new hair makes you feel like a new person and it’s been a weird few weeks, so I figured it couldn’t hurt…you know?”

Roxanne couldn’t help but blush. It seemed attention kept doing that to her–maybe changing her appearance hadn’t been the best idea for a girl who got flustered so easily. “Noted,” she said with a chuckle. “How are you, Bristol?”

“You have to say that, you’re family.” She chuckled, but couldn’t help feeling better–she was just glad she wasn’t being stared at for having something on her face. “I’m sure we could find a spell to curl your hair how you want it.”

“What?” Roxanne looked at the other person, but became slightly uncomfortable at their staring. She reached up and twirled a curl around her finger, shrugging. “I got tired of using those straightening spells and potions.”
