Argument essay ~
STEP 1: Take apart the argument. Conclusion, Evidence, Assumption
Conclusion statement example:
"This author's conclusion is a highly optimistic prediction about the future of commercial airlines in Freedonia. That past success, he believes, will continue.”
STEP 2: Select points.
Select the Points You'll Make, Based on the Specific Assignment
Evaluate the Assumptions
Consider the circumstances under which the assumptions would be valid or invalid
Write the intro.
Argument 1:
C: The radio station will play no religious music of any kind to retain listeners during the holidays. E: Fewer than 20 percent indicated that they enjoyed listening to religious music. Eighty percent noted that they would reduce their listening hours if SingSong began playing religious music of any sort. A: The amount of people who voted reflect the amount of people who listen to SingSong.
Argument 2
C: Freedonia's commercial airline will continue to prosper because of the economical growth of the society.
E: Incomes are rising, more vacation time, interest in travel is rising.
A:
Past success inevitably, or probably, leads to future success. (Otherwise why would he mention the airlines' past success right up front?)
Freedonians are willing to spend their newly increased income on travel.
What do Freedonians spend their leisure time on.
Leisure travel is, or can be, a big part of the country's airline industry.
Media attention is a reliable sign of the public's interest.
What they portray in media does not accurately reflect the publics interest. What are actual public interests?
Freedonian employees like to travel on their vacations.

Finding the integers of a number:
Option 1:
Using a table 1- 9 or 10 1 | 36 2 | 18 3 | 12 4 | 9 6 | 6
9 positive integers that are factors to 36. 1 | 72 2 | 36 3 | 24 4 | 18 6 | 12 8 | 9
** Given two similar problems for a number picking problem, don't assume that they are equal. Solve through by plugging and chugging 2 sets of numbers.
** Picking numbers. The set -1 and 1 seems to work pretty well as the two pair combo. ** STOP WITH THE CARELESS MISTAKES. >:|

Issue Essay Roadmap
Prompt
"Students should be required to take courses in many fields, and not concentrate in one area."
Define "students."
STEP 1: TAKE THE ISSUE APART (2 minutes)
Distinguish the primary and secondary task.
Make a map for both sides: POINTS FOR -leads to the ability to apply critical thinking to a wide range of practical concerns -difficult to predict where job opportunities will rise, well-rounded students will be more prepared -helps develop students into a empathetic, responsible person
PONTS AGAINST -not fair to require students to study subjects not related to their interests or goals -expensive, cost time and money -early education is general, higher education should be specific STEP 2: SELECT THE POINTS YOU'LL MAKE (4 minutes) ** Choose a side and the main points you want to make (2-4 points).
STEP 3: ORGANIZE (2 minutes)
** Best ideas first
STEP 4: TYPE (20 minutes)
STEP 5: PROOFREAD (2 minutes)
** Read from the bottom up!
Jot down examples for each point: For examples, use history, contemporary events, and personal experience. Thanks be to God... ** You can make up examples or fake details ** You don't need real-world knowledge for great examples (You can use Batman or Superman)
How to prepare? Spend your time organizing and practicing essays.
When writing the essay, you are the deity of your own essay! State your opinions like they are facts!
TEMPLATE
P1: Restate the issue, including relevant details given in the prompt. Agree or disagree.
P2- P4: Introduce major points or agreements/disagreements. Include relevant and detailed support. Also briefly address any secondary/ alternative task.
** Open each sentence with a topic sentence that explains what the paragraph is about.
** In the alternative "addressing the opposition"
Conclusion: Summarize the position.

Issue Essay
** Make sure that each point is followed by at least one sentence explaining why it supports your position. DO NOT ASSUME that the idea's relevance is obvious to the grader. ** Use concrete examples. Plan examples in the prep stage of the essay. Use real-world examples in each support paragraph. EACH SUPPORT PARAGRAPH. Make up reasonable facts to support and illustrate your point. Ways to improve: ** Identify and think carefully about the central issue of the prompts statements. ** Make sure there is an explanatory sentence for each point to show how it supports your position on the issue. ** Makes sure each support paragraph contains at least one example. ** Define the terms in the statement.
HOMEWORK: Watch the video for this essay again. Make a more thorough outline.

Argument Essay
INTRODUCTION: Before you conclude that the argument needs more support, you should summarize the argument in a way that clearly demonstrates that you understand the reasoning. ** Restate argument in your own words: this includes CONCLUSION AND EVIDENCE. CEA. CEA!!! ** Write the openings as though the grader DOES NOT have the prompt and you must explain the argument to him.
** Identify the conclusion in your own words to show you get the main point. ** Then summarize the key piece or pieces of evidence you used to support the conclusion.
FIRST PARAGRAPH ** Cite the author's evidence to illustrate the faulty reasoning (What does that mean???) ** Conclude paragraph with a final sentence that comments on how this weakens the recommendation. Never assume that the reader sees the relevance of your points.
Areas that need work: ** Identifying flaws in an argument. HOMEWORK: Reconstruct an outline for the argument essay. Write another argument essay.
