The Great Pretender
83K posts
(Dungeon Master and Keeper Of Arcane Lore)I mostly post and reblog fantasy, sci-fi, roleplaying, and cosmic horror stuff with the occasional video game post. My current roleplaying system of choice is Dungeon Crawl Classics, in the past I’ve ran a Pathfinder campaign and a Call of Cthulhu campaign. I am a fan of the hobby as a whole.Avatar = ‘Now it’s ready to drink’ (Eric Alley, Warlock’s Tower, unofficial supplement for original D&D by Balboa Game Co, 1979)Header = ‘The Astronomer’ (Myles Pinkney https://www.mylespinkney.com/wizardgallery1.htm )

The moon! The Moon! THE MOON!
I got this Moon-head Mage from keira.kreations’ Etsy. Ive wanted this miniature since I first saw it on their instagram, so when they opened an Etsy I jumped at the chance to get one.
In my DCCRPG campaign They would be a Loon Priest a mad prophet who worships Zrollgrar The One True moon. They travel across The Far Realms of Xor spreading their “Lunar Insights”, Stargazing and imbibing various psychedelics. Although their ramblings seem nonsensical there may be cosmic truths in their lunacy.
Zrollgrar The One True Moon. God of Moons, Magic, Truth, Knowledge, Insight, madness, Observing and being Observed. A god worshipped by scholars, wizards, Dreamers and Lunatics all those who seek knowledge whatever the cost. The Lunar Insights he offers can be great truths and revelations that can shatter the minds of those who gaze upon his face. The Moon you see in the sky above is not Zrollgrar it is simply one of his many faces watching and learning.

Got this Daemon from checkpoint miniatures it was sculpted by Tony Yates. I find painting metal miniatures really satisfying. I was originally going to paint him red like a devil but I decided to make him more of a brutish satyr.

This Dwarf Gunslinger is from arbiter miniatures. I’m happy with how he turned out, might come back to the base and I’m not sure about his pupils might need to be bigger. Ive been using some Two Thin Coats paint from Duncan Rhodes and transatlantic games. I really like the few I’ve got. some great colours particularly like the Hydra Green I used on this guys trousers.

Here’s my first Squiggly Beast from Games Workshop. I got it as well as the rest of the herd from an Issue of Stormbringer magazine. I wanted its mouth to look all wet so I used a gloss varnish not sure it’s that easy to see in my bad photos.
I’ve been using some Muddy Ground from AK Interactive on my bases recently and I really like it I’m going have to look into more of their stuff. This is the first use of my Greenstuffworld leaf hole punch, except to see some for autumnal bases from me.
