Welcome to the Gelphie Big Bang 2025! This event is all about bringing together writers and artists to create collaborative, high-quality fanworks centered on the relationship between Elphaba and G(a)linda (Gelphie/Gelphaba) from Wicked—whether you’re inspired by the musical, the movie, the book, or your head canons come from a mix of all three. ❓ Gelphie Big Bang FAQs:❓

🧹 What’s a Big Bang?

A Big Bang is a fandom event/challenge where writers craft a long-form fanfic (minimum 10k words), and artists are matched to them to create visual art of all different kinds, inspired by their story. At the end of the challenge, both the story and the art are revealed together—(with a BANG! <- pun intended)

This is a classic Big Bang.

📚 Writers: What You Need to Know

Minimum word count: 10,000 words.

Your fic must focus on Gelphie as the primary ship. Other characters and relationships are welcome, but Elphaba/G(a)linda must be the emotional heart of the story.

Genres, Crossovers, and AUs are absolutely welcome—bring on the gothic dramas, soulmate AUs, non-magical AUs, There's nothing wrong in Oz, Elphaba had caring parents, Gangster 1920s AUs, and more.

No previously published work. You must write a brand new fic specifically for this event. Though, if you have a fic that you have not updated in at least 6 months that you'd like to use this as a means of inspiration to get you to finish it, those will be considered on a case by case basis.

First drafts must be actual drafts, not just outlines. They must be at least 6,000 words and include the full arc (beginning, middle, and end). You can polish after matching, but give your artist something real to work with!

Final fics go live during the reveal period only. No sharing snippets or edits early unless scheduled as part of the Big Bang and requested by this blog/Mod. In short, no early posting. You’ll get instructions closer to the deadline for how to post to AO3.

🎨 Artists: What You Need to Know

You’ll be matched with a story that inspires you—based on a blind summary selection process (you won’t know the author’s name when choosing). This will need to be a first come first serve basis, as all fics need to be paired.

Art requirements:

Images must be at least 400x600px.

Videos must be at least 1 minute long.

Fanmixes must include cover + back art (400x400px min) and at least 6 songs with accessible links.

Any type of visual or audio fanart is welcome: digital art, traditional art, manips, vids, music, fanmixes, etc.

Your work must be original and unpublished before the reveal date. No reposting old works.

Some flexibility with edits is okay after matching, but talk with your writer before making big changes.

Art will go live during the reveal period. Please wait to crosspost off AO3 until reveals are complete so both fic and art can shine (in a galindified approved) way!

🛠️ How to Post on AO3

There will be an AO3 collection to publish both fic and art. If you don’t have an AO3 account, I can help you get one!

Once you submit, your work will be unrevealed (hidden from the public) until the official reveal date.

You’ll be able to edit your submission until reveals begin.

You can crosspost your work anywhere (Tumblr, Instagram, FFN, etc.) after reveals are done.

💔 What if I Need to Drop Out?

Life happens! If you need to drop out, please do so before you are matched with a partner. That way, no one is left hanging mid-process. I’ll communicate drop-out deadlines clearly via email and this Tumblr. If you drop out respectfully and in time, you’re absolutely welcome to join us for future Gelphie events! In the event that you need to drop out after you've been paired with someone, that is where a Pinch-Hitter will come in.

🚨 Important Rules

No plagiarism. That includes fic, art, AND AI-generated content that replicates others’ work. If your submission is found to use AI it will be removed.

If you suspect plagiarism, please do not report it unless you have clear evidence, such as a side-by-side comparison.

You’ll write a 10k+ Gelphie fic, submit a draft for artist matching, and collaborate with your artist until final posting.

🎨 Artists

You’ll review fic summaries, claim one that inspires you, and create a beautiful piece of fanart to match.

Betas help writers edit and polish their drafts! You can sometimes serve as a source of help or inspiration when the creative juices stop flowing. You’ll check for grammar, plot holes, character voice, pacing, and overall coherence. You can sign up as a beta reader even if you’re not a writer or artist!

📣 Cheerleaders

Cheerleaders are the supportive backbone of the Bang! You’ll encourage writers and artists, help brainstorm through blocks, and be a friendly hype machine for the writers/artists.

🦸 Pinch-Hitters

The heroes who step in if a writer or artist drops out after the match. You’ll be contacted only if needed and asked if you’re available. Flexible, low-pressure, but extremely appreciated!

🔁 Can I Sign Up for More Than One Role?

Absolutely! You can write AND beta, or make art AND cheerlead—just make sure you have time to commit to each role responsibly.

🎭 Anonymity and Reveals

All fics and art will be posted anonymously until the end of the event. There will be 2–3 creation reveals per day during the reveal period so that everyone gets a spotlight moment. You’re welcome to crosspost your work afterward wherever you like!

Would you say you've gotten fulfillment out of starting this project? I remember you have it posted somewhere that you started this blog because you wanted to listen to new music, so what's it been like? Any favorites that stand out?

Admin: Yes!! This has been really fun and ESPECIALLY so since I finally figured out some things to help me maintain it without messing with my insane schedule within the last few months. 🧼 He starts to growling if someone he doesn't trust to is approaching him, this is his warning sign. And if the person he doesn't trust to won't back up, he'll attack them.

long ago there was a cosmic enity known as Harmonia who brought Chaos through the universe for centuries until one day the powerful celestial power hours finally had it with Harmonia's reign of terror and all came together combining their powers to strip him of his harmful powers and banish him to planet known as Timeloop Pandora.

Harmonia.. Comet now that he was poweless crashed down into the planet. But before he fell to the ground he knew the impact of him hitting it wouldn't end well. So he split himself into three fragments of himself, but unfortunately it didn't go exactly as planned for Comet. The three that the once powerful enity was landed as young children.. they had no clue or memory of anything that had happened before they landed here.

The three grew up on the planet and They all became very close with each other.. it wasn't until the youngest of them turned 15 did the timeloop began changing everything on how they three saw each other.. now they must find harmony in how they feel about each other to ever be free.

how the au works:

the demolition woman is Illi Mcmillin grown up,

the demolition man is Phillip Lero (inoverse/my au frank iero) grown up

the realm of the black parade is called the paper kingdom and it is an in between of heaven and hell in the afterlife, its a place for people who dont fit into the category of good or bad

when illi died in the gunfight she went to the paper kingdom

Milli went to war with Phillip and died and went to the paper kingdom as well (nvm I scrapped this idea, disregard 💔)

Illi and Milli (inoverse/my au mikey) are both vampires

Phillip is a border collie therian, not entirely important to the au but i love that hc so i put it here <3

helena is the mcmillin siblings mother and also a vampire (duh)

since the members of the black parade (band) are unnamed, i call them by what their place in the band is (ex: gerard = parade leader, vocalist/frontman, ray = lead guitarist, etc)

Illi murdered the devil but you can still ask him stuff

not much changed about the fabulous killjoys in this au other than the existence of a funpoison love child so erm.... *embarrassment* (I FEEL CRINGE OKAY 😭😭😭)

I also added my killjoysona (demolition widow, or just widow) to this for shits and giggles lol, she's an alien from Jupiter that crashed onto earth (coincidentally right in front of the killjoys diner) and decided to live their part time, she also has some time to my hesitant alien au, but I'm not gonna add that here (may change my mind idk)

Hey guys, mod here.

Here to announce that after tomorrow’s post, this blog will be going on a hiatus. I’ve simply got too much going on in my life to be able to manage both this blog and the story from a different fandom I am working on my main blog, @justuraverageweirdo, with two of my friends. I kinda fell out of this hyperfixation awhile ago tbh lmfao. I got a burst of motivation when chapter four came out but it kind of just disappeared a month or so later and I haven’t been able to get back into the smiling critter fandom like I used to. All my motivation has gone into this new project I’m working on and I simply don’t have the time or energy to manage both this and that project.

This is to say, I’m not done with this blog. I will be HOPEFULLY continuing the story going on here. Keyword is hopefully, I may not come back, even though I do want to. There’s still so much story left on this blog and we’re only halfway there. We haven’t even been introduced to the player yet lol. And yes, he’s coming. That is if I don’t just decide to end the blog by killing off all the critters. We’ll have to see. But for now, this blog will be going on a little break for a little while. It might also be good for my mental health to take a break from here because I love you guys but some of you drive me batshit insane sometimes. And yes I know some of you still haven’t read the rules you are not slick 💔

Lmfaooooo anyways. Thank you to both @askthecritters and @eggonicayto for helping me with the art on here, it really helped out like a bunch. Go follow them and support them on their blogs, they deserve it. It’s been a wild journey and hopefully this isn’t a permanent goodbye, only a temporary one. If I do end up dropping the blog I’ll release a little summary of all my plans that I did have for the blog lol.

This is a question for the mod! What inspired you to start this blog? And what is your favorite sonic game/show/comic?

[hello!! I started this blog for a couple of reasons, really:

One is that I had done Month of Sonadow in feb followed by animating a Sonadow music video to Could Have Been Me (please watch it I had never really animated anything before and put my Whole Soul into this) which took the whole of March and half of April, and then in late April I was like... Having sonadow art withdrawal 💔 so I wanted to trick people into sending me drawing prompts HAHA.

The other main reason is because work has been bumming me out lately and in times of stress I always start ask/art blogs (Good Omens during my school exam periods, Yuri on Ice when I was doing my thesis at uni...)

I always feel like a bit of a fraud for admitting this, but I kind of stopped being a Sonic fan between Secret Rings and, uh, last year. Not for any particular reason, I just didn't consume any Sonic media in that time 🤷 so I've missed a LOT of Sonic stuff. So I apologise if my lore is totally off on anything I haven't played (and there's a list of what I HAVE played/watched in my pinned post)

That said, I think even if I had played every Sonic game out there, Sonic Adventure 2 will ALWAYS be my favourite. I must have spent thousands of hours playing that game (or watching my brothers play) from ages... 6-13. And then recently completed it again on Steam (AND GOT ALL A RANKS IN EVERY SINGLE MISSION AND STAGE! CAN I HEAR A WHOOP WHOOP the only emblem I'm missing is the Hero Chao Race one because I only levelled up my Dark chao sobs)

Shadow the Hedgehog also holds a VERY special place in my heart. I felt like everybody hated that game, but little emo child me adored it. I was fascinated by games where your actions impacted how "good" you were and what ending you got (was super into the game Black & White before playing Shadow the Hedgehog)

As for Shows/Comics, I watched a lot of TAoSTH when I was a wee babby but other than that I haven't watched the shows. I am currently on S3 of Prime though and I love it!!

I enjoy the movies too, I just feel like they're pretty separate in my head from the games. I do have a couple of movie!sonadow fics, but they're so different to game!sonadow haha.

I have sadly not read any of the comics... Maybe someday...
