understanding astrology for beginners (part 1) ✨🔮

hi i’m making this because a friend of mine was curious about astrology and kept seeing it on their dash. this is going to be basic astrology explained in its most simplest form :)

pt2 is about planets & houses!!!

pt3 is about reading a natal chart & aspects!!!

astrology basics

astrology started in ancient civilizations as long ago as 32,000 B.C.. It was first practiced among Hindus, and steadily grew more of an audience. It was Hindus, Egyptians, Chinese, Babylonians (the astrology im going to talk today abt, western, comes from the babylonians!), Greeks and then Romans. After that, the era from 1200-2000 B.C. is the modern astrology era.

there are different chart types as well.

natal chart: common in western astrology, also may be known as tropical, which charts the position of celestial bodies as they appeared at the time of an individual’s birth. the ascendent is the astrological sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at the moment of birth.

draconic chart: (I heavily suggest looking into ur draconic chart, AFTER, having been used to astrology for a while and interpreting your natal chart) Draconic is used by putting your North Node under 0 degrees in Aries. North Node shows us our destiny, so the draconic is used to find one’s soul or more intimate being in them self. 

synastry chart: this is takes two peoples natal charts, and placed them upon each other, creating aspects for the two peoples and gives an in look on how the relationship between the two people would get along.  

progressed chart:  involves a method of progressing the natal chart forward from the moment of the birth or beginning of the subject into the future, to see how the natal has progressed, developed, and grown.

transits: this uses an individual’s natal chart and aligns them with placements happening currently to show aspects to how the individual might be interacting with the environment/what energy the individual has been experiencing as of recently.

how to categorize the signs

if you’re new to astrology you might have heard terms like “mutable, sextile, polarity” etc. now i’m going to show you what they mean and the 12 signs’ categorized.

what dualities mean: Dualities are two categorizes, Masculine and Feminine. Air and fire signs are masculine, water and earth signs are feminine.

what elements mean: SIgns are put into elements: Fire, Water, Air, & Earth

what quadruplicities mean: There are three groups: Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable. (Keyphrases explained later)

what ruling planet means: Each sign rules one (or two) planets that reflects some archetypal behaviors of the sign

what glyphs mean: Each sign is ruled by a symbol called a glyph

what polarities mean: Each sign has another sign 180′ degrees from it, aka, its opposite, and this is its polarity

what part of body means: Each signs rules some parts of the body and is associated with them (e.g. arms, breasts, throat)

what does dominant keyword mean: This is a short phrase used to reflect the signs archetypal personality

aries:

-duality: masculine
