Can we talk about multiclassing as a love language? Because I'm having high dnd thoughts as one does and I'm thinking about so many characters including one of my own:
Merlin Chestnut: Lesser fey (changeling), Bard for the Seelie Court, fell in love with a visiting archfey (Dream Witch), was consequently kicked out of the fey realm by the Baba Yaga who according to Forgotten Realms lore is the adoptive mother of the Dream Witch. And as a symbol of their love, the Dream Witch became my character's warlock patron which is where my levels of warlock come in.
Vax'ildan (Critical Role: Campaign 1): multi-classed into Paladin to save his sister's life and avenge their mother's death.
Gorgug Thistlespring (Fantasy High: Sophomore Year): multi-classed into Artificer so he could build a cell tower to talk to Zelda Donovan his girlfriend while the Bad Kids and the Seven were off questing in separate directions.
Fjord (Critical Role: Campaign 2): multi-classed into Paladin not just for the safety of his friends but to free himself from a toxic warlock relationship and break generational cycles (self-love wins toooo).
Ruby Rocks (A Crown of Candy): multi-classed into Shadow Sorceror to mechanically extend the metaphor of grieving her twin sister.
Sophie Bikes (The Unsleeping City): multi-classed into a Warlock as her character started to fall in love with the magic of New York City and The Great Bodega Cat and also Emily Axford's enduring love for the spell mechanics of DnD 5e.

Which X-Men (or X-Men-adjacent characters) do you think are the best fits for each of the core D&D classes - in a sort of "using this character to illustrate what the class is" way? Leaving out artificer, if only because that's so obviously Forge.
This is hard, because I would describe a lot of X-Men characters as Sorcerors both in terms of how and where they get their powers, but also a lot of the subclasses work very well with the various mutant gifts. Most psychics (Charles Xavier, Jean Grey, Emma Frost) would probably work best as Aberrant Mind Sorcerors, for example (although Kwannon probably works better as a Soulknife).
Tumblr media
For Rogues, there's no question that it Gambit, cher.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For (Berserker) Barbarians, it's absolutely Logan.
Tumblr media
For Fighters, I'd go with Cyclops (a ranged Battlemaster who took all the Warlord manuevers).
Tumblr media
For Warlocks, I'd go with Nightcrawler as a Fae Pact Bladelock.
Tumblr media
For Druids, you absolutely go with Storm - although most likely, you'd build Storm as a Druid/Tempest Domain Cleric multiclass - although Rictor is not a bad pick either after he hooked up with [A] and got into mutant magic and druidism.
Tumblr media
For Bards, I'd go with Doug Ramsey as a College of Lore guy. (And in keeping with the Bard stereotype, Doug's a transhuman bi-poly twink who's secretly a schemer and political operator behind the innocently slutty facade...)
Tumblr media
For Paladins, I'd go with Betsy Braddock, since choosing between the Amulet of Right and the Sword of Might to embody the mystical bond between the land and Otherworld is very very much an Oath of the Ancients moment.
Tumblr media
If we're going with Rangers, I would definitely go with Dani Moonstar as combining archery powers with animal companions - although I'm not sure whether she'd be a Fey Wanderer (heh) or a Gloomstalker.
Tumblr media
For Monk, I would actually go with Kitty Pryde as a spin on a Shadow Warrior build, considering her time training as a ninja under the demonic Ogun and her current incarnation as the vengeful Shadowkat.
Tumblr media
And for Wizards...that one is hard. Probably Amanda Sefton.

I'm planning out an Honour mode run(which will also be origin Astarion run) and I was wondering if you have any tips for it? All my characters will be multiclassers and I'm planning which weapons and armor to use, but I'm just curious what someone with probably one thousand hours in the game thinks could help
Ironically, I just this week beat the Honor Mode with a friend of mine, hee hee.
Alright, so here goes!
My Personal Team Comp
Paladin/Fighter (My buddy)
Paladin/Fighter (Astarion at first, Minthara later)
Storm Sorcerer (Karlach for me but it could be anyone, really, I was just trying to get the dating achievement- Karlach is actually a terrible Sorcerer because her race gives her smite spells...which she can't use effectively, as a staff user...)
Ranger/ Rogue/ Fighter (Me)
Reasoning:
Two frontliners is always good, to keep the aggro off of the squishier half of the party. Plus, the melee classes get to hit multiple times, which is just, insanely good, and lets you destroy targets. Paladin is obviously the most broken class, but a Paladin Fighter is a great multi class for Action Surge and Battle Maneuvers! Make sure to grab Disarming Attack and prioritize stealing weapons so enemies can't hit you very hard anymore!
You might want to have some kind of Rogue, for sneak attack, and disengage potential as well! Good for long range picks, and quick killing of high priority targets. Plus, two frontliners make it so you always have advantage.
And you of course need an AOE spellcaster of some kind. I think the Warlock is pretty powerful, mostly because of Eldritch Blast and Hunger of Hadar cheese, but the Sorcerer is the strongest magic caster with all their excellent Metamagic passives. They can also regain a lot of spell slots and have a ridiculous DPS output. But Hunger of Hadar is an excellent spell; it is without question the BEST AOE spell in the game.
The key to beating BG3 in any mode is to make distance.
Force your enemies through tight choke points stuffed with magical obstacles and just pick them off as they try to get through.
Hunger of Hadar is broken because not only are they blind, but they're also SLOWED and you get ADVANTAGE on them when they're in it, AND it does damage, AND as I mentioned before, you can throw them back INTO it when they try to get out with Eldritch Blast, which is also just excellent for throwing enemies away from you.
So Sorcerer or Warlock are excellent choices, but I personally have more of an affinity for Sorcerer.
Now.
Why Storm Sorceror specifically?
Because they get the best passives. People say Draco Sorcerers are the best, but their passive is only helpful early on. The Storm Sorcerer passive lets you cast FLY as a bonus action every time you use a level 1 or higher spell! The disengage potential is critical for Honor Mode, plus it's great for just repositioning whenever you want. Plus you get excellent passives like Heart of the Storm, AND you get immunity to multiple damage types, instead of just one!
Why the Ranger/Rogue/Fighter?
Check out this guy's comp, which I used. It is insanely powerful.
youtube
You can dual wield two one handed crossbows, and just SHRED everything you come across.
I was literally playing with two paladins and I WAS HITTING HARDER THAN THEM.
Ranger gives you dread ambusher, then you can hit TWICE as a melee class, which the Rogue doesn't get, and then you can get Action Surge, and do it all over again, PLUS as a thief subclass, you have two bonus actions, for your offhand attacks!
It's honestly broken as fuck, and it's perfect for the long range, disengage potential.
Now you have my suggested comp. Keep in mind that you can have just about anything you want, but remember, two frontliners, at least one magic caster with dps potential, and then the fourth should ideally be a long range specialist.
Now then...
I recommend you pick the Dark Urge.
Why?
For a million reasons.
It is MUCH easier to 1v1 Orin in the end rather than kill the whole Temple and deal with her bullshit Unstoppable nonsense.
You want the deathstalker mantle, which is insanely good for rogues, and everything in general
You WANT To kill Isobel so you can have the Slayer Form, which will get you out of tight spots, plus it makes Orin even easier to deal with.
You also want access to Bhaalist armor for accepting Bhaal as your master.
Also, you want to accept Bhaal so you can get Power Word Kill, a very useful one time use ability, which can uh, hint hint, be used on the Netherbrain to end the game very quickly
You also want to have the Bhaalist buff, which helps you crit more during the final battle.
But this now segues into...
Equipment
Now, if you're the Dark Urge...do not kill Alfira.
Knock her out every day in Act 1 until Quil Grootslang takes her place!
You want the robe Alfira will give you in Act 2 for saving the tieflings from Moonrise! It's called the Potent Robe and it's GREAT for sorcerers! But you can have both it AND the Deathstalker mantle so long as you're vigilant and knock her out every day!
Just be careful, because Arron will kill you if he catches you! So try to knock her out in one hit, if you can. Put the game in turn based mode, if you must! Or use sneak attack.
Other equipment:
Spellsparkler! Insanely broken for Sorcerers and magic missile users. You can use it till the end of the game.
Make sure to get the staff Lorroakan is hoarding inside Sorcerous Sundries! It gives you Kereshka's Favor, which is excellent for Storm Sorcerers.
Also make sure your final feat as a Sorcerer is Dual Wielding, because if you dual wield that staff AND Cazador's staff, you get the abilities of both staffs! You can also use something other than Cazador's staff, and use Arcane Battery twice! So you can cast something ridiculous like, say, Disintegrate, more times than should be allowed! Also, there are like, two amulets and one staff that will allow you to regain spell slots! Make sure to gather as many as you can. Sorry I can't name them off the top of my head... I know one is a pearl necklace that you can buy from Omeluum, one is Caitlin's staff, and the other one you can get from the Warden in Moonrise...make sure to grab them so you can restore spell slots. Oh, also, if you do the House of Hope...you can grab the staff that's in his secret treasure room! Which is also great.
Make sure to buy the Risky Ring from Araj! It gives you advantage on EVERY attack, it just also gives you disadvantage on all saving throws...but if you give it to a rogue, and they have the deathstalker mantle, then they don't have to worrry about being hit ever, lol, plus they have sneak attack ALWAYS. no allies next to enemies required!!! it's a broken item, so definitely grab it from Araj in Act 2!
If you have two heavy armor wearers, use the mold from the Grymforge Heavy Scale mail twice. Make sure to then replace one of them with Ketheric armor later on.
You also want the aformentioned Bhaalist equipment. The Bhaalist amulet is great, as is the Bhaalist armor you can buy from the dragon seller in Sarevok's chamber.
Speaking of Sarevok, kill his ass! You want his excellent sword and helmet.
If you're feeling brave, kill Ansur too, because his helmet is awesome, as is his sword, but be careful! That lightning bitch is an honor mode run killer! I've almost lost two runs to him.
Even though he's hard, I do recommend killing Raphael! The Constitution amulet, the gauntlets of hill giant strength, and the staff in his treasure room are really worth it.
And uh.
Yeah!
Good luck!
Let me know if you have any more specific questions, and trust me.
I know...way too much about this game.
But this is just my starting guide!!
I had a blast in Honor Mode, I bet you will too!
Oh.
And don't kill Gortash. Not because he's my boyfriend or anything, but because, he's not really worth fighting, especially not for the loot he gives you!
If you must kill him, do it at the Morphic Pool instead of Wyrm's Rock!!!

Oops I Did it Again. Another D20 Potential Series. Unsleeping City: Generations
SPOILERS FOR UNSLEEPING CITY SEASON 2 UP THROUGH FINALE
So, there was talk on Adventuring Party about what classes the kids of the Dream Team would be, so of course I had to design and stat them.
Tumblr media
We'll start at the top.
Alejandra "Al" Matsui, half black, half japanese, all positivity. She inherited Ricky's positive attitude and his training regimine, but her mother's gift for magic. She will be an Eldritch Knight, but for now she's a Fighter and Magic Initiate. Imagine what she's holding is a hockey stick. She loves sports and being on sports teams. She plans to be like her father and protect the umbral arcana as well as New York City.
Blair Conlan. This one was constructed out of my own mind. Sometime in the future, Pete finds a child that wandered into Nod and got lost. This was ages ago, and their family is not only long gone, but forgotten. Their long time in Nod changed Blair (into a changeling) and they don't even really know who they were before. Pete adopts Blair and tries to guide them into living in the material world again. They're a rogue, and a little standoffish, but they've become fascinated with technology and learning hacking from Maddie Park.
Jessica Lisowski was never really studious until she found magic, and then she became enraptured (obsessed, her brother Nick would say). At 24 she's in Grad School at Columbia learning histories she hopes to improve her magical knowledge. Instead of typical magic subclasses, she's part of the Order of Scribes, dedicated to learning more about the world, with her talking spellbook named Basia. She is also multiclass sorceror, with a dragonscale necklace used to connect to her dragon ancestry.
Katherine "Kat" Lee is a total Weeb. Her father Dale showed her anime as a kid and it was all cat ears and nunchuks from there. She's very fierce like her mother, and a paladin of New York City, preferring Monk Weapons to traditional swords, as was emphasized when Cody passed onto her the Questing Blade. She also has a pair of Cat Ears that she always wears, given to her by la Gran Gata. She's an Aasimar, and her wings can't let her fly, yet, but she's determined that one day they will.
Langston Brown worshipped the ground his father Kingston walked on, until he accidentally found out he was a Dragon. Now he's frustrated and full of pre-teen angst, unsure what he wants to do or be. He spends a lot of his time when not with his friends in subway tunnels (that he walks like he knows them) and using his magic paint can to graffiti them. He doesn't know what to do with finding out he has some great destiny as the Dragon of Bleaker St. He just wants to be a kid. For now he has the mechanics of a dragonborn and Dragon ancestry sorceror, which he uses an app on his phone as his magical focus (a technology invented by JJ)
Nick Lisowski has dedicated himself fully to his family's business, doing tarot readings with his mother and using his own that he inherited from her to use as an arcane focus. As a hexblade warlock, he is always ready for danger, still weilding the peasant sword, he carries the weight of his family's legacy on his back, and takes it very seriously. He is here to protect them, and especially his sister who was always the smart one and the one who he believes is destined for greatness.
I don't have a campaign fully worked out, but I think Nick and Jessica have their own apartment together, Nick 27 and Jessica 24. The kids are all about 12, and are sent to the apartment for the night for a slumber party (while their parents go on a quest to Nod for some secret magic mission). I think Time travel is involved somehow, and they're all sent on an adventure through important moments in New York History, trying to find their way back to the present.
I think this oughta be a sidequest, played by other friends of the show (so we could have cameos from the intrepid heroes at the beginning and ending) My idea: Gabe Hicks as Langston Brown, Nick Marini as Nick Lisowski, Erica Ishii as Kat Lee, Noelle Stevenson as Blair Conlan, Molly Osterntag as Jessica Lisowski, and Kristina Arielle as Al Matsui.

I’m back on this, and this time we’ve got everybody’s favorite villain, Cinder Fall! The Fire Witch with the Best Twitch, the powerhungry primmadonna, the Misshapen Maiden, we’re going to set her up on dungeoning and dragoning in the best way we can work!
And boy howdy is this going to be a mess. Cinder may mainly use fire, but she uses it in so many different ways and, honestly, that’s true of everything she does. Lots of weapons and lots of magic, and surprisingly skilled at craftsmanship. Also, she’s very hard to kill, which isn’t something most casters get a lot. Basically, Cinder has to be very flexible in so many different fields.
If we look at the point array I’d say we’d be putting a fifteen in Charisma--she’s been on GLOBAL TELEVISION and looks pretty good even after getting a demon grafted to her arm. Dexterity would get fourteen, because she’s a roofhopping arrow-shooting glamour gal, and Wisdom thirteen because she’s just cunning enough to keep almost winning. Constitution is important for being hardy and keeping concentration, so that would be twelve. She’s only got an average strength at ten points, but she uses it well, and eight points in intelligence makes it her dump stat--there’s a very spoilery reason she’s not that good at book learning.
Variant humans get variant points! Two ability points to put anywhere--bump up that wisdom and charisma just a touch--a free skill and a free feat. Athletics would be the skill of choice, she’s very mobile, and for the Feat we’re going to take Magic Initiate and pluck a few spells off the Warlock list--Chill Touch, Eldritch Blast, and Expeditious Retreat. A lot of the spells we’ll want are actually not on the Warlock list, so even though Salem’s pretty clearly her patron we’ll just say it’s not quite like that.
I looked through the Backgrounds and Dragon Casualty from the Adventurer’s League: Curse of Strahd actually has a lot in common with Cinder’s actual history. The Dragonscarred feature comes complete with a reputation and a visible disfigurement, meaning the Up and Ups recognize Cinder, something she can use. She gets proficiency in Intimidation, Survival, and Weaver’s tools, and also she can speak Draconic. Does anybody on Remnant speak draconic? I don’t know, but Cinder’s polylingual!
Cinder gets six levels in Phoenix Sorcerer, six as an Arcane Archer Fighter, and eight in Forge Cleric. Since she’s starting with Sorcerer she’ll get proficiency in Charisma and Constitution saves, as well as Persuasion and Deception. Multiclassing into Fighter gives her proficiencies in all simple and martial weapons, light armor, medium armor, and shields. She also gets a total of five Ability Score Improvements--burning one for the Eldritch Adept feat gives her the Grasp of Hadar, for some stretchy hand action with her Eldritch Blast, and leaves eight points for her stats. Four in Charisma maxes that out, then putting two each in Dexterity and Wisdom sets those both to sixteen.
All Sorcerers get sorcery points equal to their Sorcerer level, which they can use for Flexible Casting--creating extra spell slots at a given cost. Flexible casting also allows Sorcerers to burn unused spell slots for Sorcery points, which is useful when you want to pull out that last bit of magic but you need a spell slot on the fly. And of course there’s Metamagic, which lets you spend sorcery points to alter spells in specific ways--I think Cinder would pick up Elemental Spell for those rare occasions where she wants something other than fire, and Distant Spell for enemies that have a bad habit of running away.
Phoenix Sorcerers can Ignite things as an action, free of charge, just by touching it. They also have a Mantle of Flame they can activate as a bonus action, spending one minute being EXTRA HOT. And of course there’s the sixth-level Phoenix Spark--if Cinder hits zero HP, she can use a reaction to go to 1 HP and everybody within ten feet takes eight fire damage, or sixteen if her Mantle of Flame was up. Both the Mantle and the Spark can only be used once per long rest, but Cinder knows how to get out when things get bad so...
With six levels of Fighter, Cinder would have a Second Wind, letting her regain 1d10+6 HP as a bonus action once per rest. Action Surge lets her take another Action on her turn once per rest, and Extra Attack means she can make two attacks with any attack action. I think she’d also pick up the Two-Weapon Fighting Style, letting her use her ability bonus with a second weapon. As for Arcane Archer, that gives her the Prestidigitation cantrip and two Arcane Shots per rest; she can either use a Bursting Arrow which is just an extra 2d6 force damage to everyone in ten feet of the shot, or an Enfeebling Arrow, which does 2d6 necrotic damage to the target and halves their weapon damage on a failed Con save. Go for that Achilles Heel, Cinder, I’m sure that won’t backfire!
And then... eight levels in Forge Cleric. Truth be told, I mostly picked that for the automatic spells from the Forge domain, which basically cover Cinder’s Semblance and the way she combines them with her magic. But she does get some benefits; she can Channel Divinity twice per rest, either Turning Undead--getting them to run if they’re higher than CR 1 or outright destroying them otherwise--or using Artisan’s Blessing to create items.
And being a Forge Cleric specifically gives Cinder proficiency with Smith’s Tools and Heavy Armor, as well as the ability to give +1 to armor or a weapon once per long rest. She also gets resistance to fire damage and +1 AC wearing heavy armor from having a Soul of the Forge. And of course there’s the Eighth level Divine Strike, letting her add 1d8 fire damage to one attack per turn. She’s a pretty firey gal.
Going over Cinder’s spell list is a doozy. Firstly, she’s a 14th level caster, which means she has 4 level one slots, 3 slots each for level two, three, and four spells, 2 level five slots, and a slot apiece for level six and seven. But she can only pick up Cleric spells up to level four and Sorcerer spells up to level three. She’s already got three cantrips from her Magic Initiate and Arcane Archer sources, and she’s going to get four more from the Cleric list and five more from the Sorceror list--and as for spells, level six Sorcerers know seven that they can always cast, and Clerics can prepare a number of spells equal to their level plus their Wisdom modifier--so eleven in Cinder’s case. And the Forge spells are considered always prepared, and don’t count against the Cleric spell max.
That’s a WHOLE lot of magic in one girl. Let’s spell (ha) it out!
-Cantrips: --Chill Touch (Magic Initiate Warlock) --Control Flames (Sorcerer) --Eldritch Blast (Magic Initiate Warlock) --Firebolt (Sorcerer) --Frostbite (Sorcerer) --Mending (Cleric) --Prestidigitation (Arcane Archer) --Ray of Frost (Sorcerer) --Shape Water (Sorcerer) --Sacred Flame (Cleric) --Thaumaturgy (Cleric) --Word of Radiance (Cleric) L1: 4 slots --Burning Hands (Sorcerer) --Command (Cleric) --Create or Destroy Water (Cleric) --Expeditious Retreat (Magic Initiate Warlock) (Concentration) --Guiding Bolt (Cleric) --Identify (Forge Cleric) --Searing Smite (Forge Cleric) (Concentration) L2: 3 slots --Aganazzer's Scorcher (Sorcerer) --Aid (Cleric) --Dragon's Breath (Sorcerer) (Concentration) --Enhance Ability (Cleric) (Concentration) --Heat Metal (Forge Cleric) (Concentration) --Magic Weapon (Forge Cleric) (Concentration) --Scorching Ray (Sorcerer) --Spiritual Weapon (Cleric) L3: 3 slots --Bestow Curse (Cleric) (Concentration) --Elemental Weapon (Forge Cleric) (Concentration) --Fireball (Sorcerer) --Flame Arrows (Sorcerer) (Concentration) --Fly (Sorcerer) (Concentration) --Inflict Wounds (Cleric) --Protection from Energy (Forge Cleric) (Concentration) --Revivify (Cleric) L4: 3 slots --Death Ward (Cleric) --Divination (Cleric) --Fabricate (Forge Cleric) --Wall Of Fire (Forge Cleric) (Concentration) L5: 2 slots L6: 1 slot L7: 1 slot
Remember, as a Sorcerer Cinder can melt unused spell slots for sorcery points, and any caster can upcast a spell using a slot above its usual level. And with the metamagic that Cinder has, that makes all these spells just that much more dangerous. Throwing in some reach and necrotic for that demon on her arm and, well, there’s a reason Cinder Fall is the queen of Salem’s forces.
So yeah, that’s Cinder.
