i think i've mentioned it before in passing but it still fucks me up how Orlok is a physical manifestation of every "wrong and sinful" desire that Ellen tries to repress, as well as the panic that is associated with them.

the first sexual urges of her puberty (he claims her "ever-eternally"). the desire to dominate her husband (he dominates Thomas at the castle, demanding the subservience she never could). her queerness (he drinks from Anna, long and deep, and destroys Harding's family). the desperate longing for companionship, regardless of how dark and abnormal she believes herself to be (he answers her call from miles away, crosses an ocean for her, wants her, wants her, wants her - but she cannot imagine being wanted without repercussions, and so he brings the plague with him, a punishment for the sin of receiving what she craves).

Ellen is a mess of crushing guilt. she only ever sees ugliness in herself and i think it's so compelling to see her being desired above all else - not despite, but because of that ugliness, y'know?..

(i'm not kidding. the entirety of the first two books is just both of them saying how interesting the other is. it's suffocating.)

Another medicated Andrew! And black haired Neil!

The two first books hold such bangers, and clearly not enough people ramble about them. I'm a sucker for the relationship they have afterwards obviously, but even before that they're hilarious. Many underrated scenes that could be worth drawing.

Also I underestimated how Neil dress and presents himself - like: he wears oversized, worn out and faded, preferably light-colored clothes; messy curlyish hair with bangs; sports hoodies; JORTS-

... He's got a banger style actually.

Metal Sonic 2.0, also known as Flux the Hedgehog! ✨Modeled after Super Sonic and designed to blend in with other Mobians, he's effectively Metal Sonic's cool(annoying) younger brother.

Some fun facts about him:

Has the energy of a 90s era "cool guy" (the type you'd see in an after school special) fused with a peppy camp counselor (who is trying to mask they are secretly a cult leader).

Sees himself as a hero and the rest of the world as needing to be "saved" or "fixed".

BIG fan of Sonic. :) /sinister

Was originally an aging Eggman's attempt at building a Sonic-esque friend for his brooding teenage hologram daughter, Sage. Ended up getting a bit too excited with the project and made manipulate, mansplain, manslaughter into a robot.

Exceptional at finding and targeting emotionally and/or mentally vulnerable people. The king of clever backhanded compliments that undermine the self-confidence of those around him.

Basically, Egghead accidentally made the type of guy who can indeed connect with young people, but in a Jonestown kind of way. 💀

Very much inspired by the SQUIP from Be More Chill! Highly recommend listening to some of the songs featuring the SQUIP to kind of get a vibe for his energy (here are some: 1 2 3).

What if that is the sole reason the Kryptonians start to fear Phantom? Like, little guy could be seen as an ancient apex predator of the Kryptonians from long ago before Krypton became more civilized.

He can eat his weakness! LIKE CANDIES!

Since the kid can be seen through different times in history (CW with his little errand boi what can I say?) there are images or mentions of him in the fortress, although very vague ones so they assumed that this fella is a baby tamed version of the real deal.

Or maybe not add the time travel bit and the JL is just jumping on the train of "Holy Canolli this kid's ancestors maybe used to hunt down Kryptonians and fueled themselves by ingesting Kryptonite".
