as a queer man (specifically bi) I love how other people completely manage to miss the point as to why bucktommy is a "ground breaking" relationship. individually are a cis white gay man and a cis white bi man that revolutionary? not particularly. the point is buck is a main character who was made 'retroactively' bisexual, 7 seasons into a show that already has queer main and side characters on network television. they're both masc dudes, their friends accept them, there was no cheating or invalidation of any previous relationships with women. like that just hasn't happened before.

Actually I'm going to say more. It's really telling how the only time you acknowledge aros is to getting pissed at them for a joke you actually know nothing about. Your interpretation of the joke is very surface level and if you'd actually listened to aros, you'd understand it comes from a place of resentment of amatonormativity. Where were you when aros were the target of harassment and the butt of jokes? If you're okay with those jokes, why are you suddenly up in arms about our jokes? Your support is superficial at best if it exists at all

UPDATE FROM JUNE 16: Government Accountability Office finds withholding IMLS funds is illegal (Library Journal) It is still important to call Congress and ask them to fund libraries in the 2026 budget.

The Trump administration has issued an executive order aimed at dismantling the Institute of Museum and Library Services - the ONLY federal agency for America's libraries.

Using just 0.003% of the federal budget, the IMLS funds services at libraries across the country; services like Braille and talking books for the visually impaired, high-speed internet access, and early literacy programs.

Libraries are known for doing more with less, but even we can't work with nothing.

...Wait, why do we need this IMLS thing again?

The ALA says it best in their official statement and lists some ways libraries across the country use IMLS funding:

But if you want a really specific answer, here at LCPL we use IMLS funding to provide our amazing interlibrary loan service. If we can't purchase an item you request (out of print books, for example) this service lets us borrow it from another library and check it out to you.

IMLS also funds the statewide Indiana Digital Library and Evergreen Indiana, which gives patrons of smaller Indiana libraries access to collections just as large and varied as the big libraries' collections.

As usual, cutting this funding will hurt rural communities the most - but every library user will feel it one way or another. Let's let Congress know that's unacceptable.

Because I'm a design freak, I went and color picked the pallets of each main character for comparison.

For a "fun" lil' guessing game, they are presented unlabelled and in no particular order. These pallets are so unbelievably redundant that I actually put one character twice by mistake at first, and it took me way too long to realize.

i think there's a kind of defensiveness that comes from ppl that like the 14th doctor and david's return to the show as like, because one of the main criticisms is that he's basically the same as ten and his return is pointless, the main argument against it becomes that fourteen is a totally different character than ten with totally different traits or personality. but to me i think it's kind of an over-correction (mostly because it comes with ten slander that i don't really agree with). i agree that fourteen is much more emotionally mature, kinder, more open, and kind of overall a better person bc of all his experiences as 11-13. but the human-like love he has for people is the same as ten's and that's why he matters so much. ten's story was a tragedy, he had so so much love in him and he felt things a little too hard and he didn't want to let that go. his life was overall so miserable bc he spent half of it stuck in his grief trying to isolate himself from people (or trying to die) rather than letting himself love again and it got cut short in a moment when for the first time in a While he was genuinely happy to be alive. so it does matter that he kind of gets a second chance as a more grown-up, openly emotional 14th doctor. also bc thirteen spent 99% of her time emotionally closing herself off from her loved ones so it makes perfect sense she regenerates into a doctor that yearns to love people completely and fully with no holds barred, with the face of a previous version of themself that wished for a home but could never have one (or could never let themself have one)
