Kon discovers Ao3 AU (implied TimKon)

Wendy the werewolf stalker is one of Kon‘s favorite all-time shows ever, so when he hears the news of it being cancelled right before the second season finale he’s not just sad, he’s absolutely devastated. He spends time on the internet, sure, but this is his first time going this deep into it. He finds posts on multiple social media platforms, all complaining about the cancellation. He’s scrolling through one of many Reddit threads when he reads a term he’s never heard of before.

“Welp, time to dive into fanfiction”

Fanfiction? Curious, Kon looks up the term, and multiple websites pop up. Fanfiction.net, ArchiveOfOurOwn.org, Wattpad.com, then Reddit trends asking what counted as a fanfiction, and which websites were best. After some research (could he call it research?) he came to the conclusion that ArchiveOfOurOwn.org, or also known as Ao3, was the best overall, apparently having a great ‘tagging system’ which Kon learned was important when looking for story’s? fics? With only a bit of hesitation, he typed in “Wendy the werewolf stalker fanfiction” into the search bar, clicking the first Ao3 link that popped up. He was surprised to find thousands of stories, there were a handful of them that were posted or updated recently too. He started reading through them, very soon after discovering the world of shipping culture.

He looks for recommendation fics on Reddit, clicking a link that lead him to a private fanfiction, that he apparently had to make an account to read. Not really thinking about it, he put his username as SuperNova, a bit disappointed when he saw it was already taken. He ended up with Super_NovaFR. Waiting two weeks for his account to be processed felt longer than it should have. Finally, he got the email that his account was made, and he logged in, he was overjoyed to find that, apparently, he had been missing out on so much more fanfiction. There were at least a thousand that were previously hidden.

A few weeks later, he got curious. He had always been told to never look himself up online, that while the media praised hero’s, it also torn them down. But the people on Ao3 seemed so nice, and he loved interacting with people in the comments. He was open about the fact that he is, in fact, the real SuperNova, but a lot of users joked about him being something called a role-play account. Eventually, someone asked him about his favorite SuperNova fic, and when he asked “there’s SuperNova fanfiction?” he got multiple replies.

“How do you have SuperNova in your username without reading any SuperNova fanfiction?”

So here he was, about to look up his hero name in the Ao3 search engine. He ended up getting about 16k results, which was surprising. He sorted by most hits, wanting to see what was popular in his… fandom? Writing community? Immediately, he saw a lot of x reader type fics, and as he scrolled, the relationship tags caught his eye. There were hundreds, if not thousands of fanfics about him being with his teammates. One specific teammate that stood out against the rest was Cardinal, older fics having written them as SuperBoy and Red Robin, and some even older ones that called them SuperBoy and Robin. Although most of them were up to date with their hero names.

Kon clicked on the SuperNova/Cardinal tag, sorting again by most hits. It looked like the whole star crossed lovers theme was popular, considering Kon was from Metropolis and Cardinal was from Gotham (as for as Kon knew), the publicly known ‘no metas in Gotham rule’ being a large driving force. Before Kon could catch himself- maybe he didn’t want to- he had already read through some of the more popular fics. Secret identities, or the tags “secret identity reveal” and “identity porn” being a recurring plot point. Not to mention the sheer about of pure smut (another word he had learned in the past few weeks).

He was almost afraid to read it, sure he had read explicit Wendy the werewolf stalker fics, but this was way different. He kept seeing this one fic pop up in a lot of recommendation lists, and in a lot of collections as well. Eventually, he caved and read it, and dear Rao. He had to take a cold shower or two, the plot and writing was wonderful, absolutely beautifully written, but the more explicit scenes? Every time he read one, he couldn’t stop his brain from immediately imagining himself in that exact scenario with Cardinal, even the cute fluffy scenes were worming its way into his imagination!

He knew he had to stop, but this one writer was just so good, and scarily accurate, he couldn’t. The scenes were so detailed and thorough, like the author had thought about it a lot. Kon ended up reading their other fanfics, and while some of them were fluffy, a lot of them were just as, if not more explicit than the first one. He commented on a few of the authors, PhotographyNerdRR’s works, praising them for their fantastic writing. He was tempted to ask how they got the details so accurate, but he thought back to Cardinal giving a safety speech on the internet, and to never confirm theories. Oh Rao, Cardinal, at this point, Kon might never be able to look at him the same way again.

With the new episode and the return of the Catkind (yes, that is actually what they’re called), I feel obligated to remind everyone that it is canon—like, actual from-Doctor Who: The Monster Vault-canon—that they only exist because:

A) Humans accidentally left some pet cats on a planet (Tandon), B) A few billion years later those cats evolved into humanoid cat people, and C) When humans eventually stumbled back onto that planet, a woman named Brooke looked at a Cat prince and said “yeah, I could work with that,” had his babies, and that created Catkind.

So basically: humanity lost their cats, forgot they did that, came back eons later, found out the cats had gotten sexy, and "danced".

She finds Kaworu in the same place she left him, sitting against the wall with his head in his hands. The candlelight sets off an amber glow, and in the halo of light, she can see Kaworu’s shoulders shaking, his breath hitching in little hics. The tallies drawn on the wall behind him shine like hundreds of tiny white gravestones.
