11 Things You Didn’t Know About Hello Kitty

Istill remember the pocket-size Hello Kitty colored pencil set I had as a girl, and I am delighted that my two Gen Alpha kids have embraced her and her ever-growing cast of Sanrio friends. She turns 50 on Nov. 1, and over the past five decades, she has collaborated with brands ranging from Adidas to Pottery Barn to MAC Cosmetics and more, run for president, been the subject of her own museum exhibition, is at the center of a thriving businessand thats just for starters. But while she’s recognized around the globe, the Hello Kitty origin story is still a bit of a mystery.

I recently had the opportunity to speak with Christina Yano, arguably the worlds foremost Hello Kitty expert, about Hello Kitty’s universal and timeless appeal. Hello Kittys design is brilliantly simplesomething you could probably draw yourself, says Yano, co-curator of Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty, the museum exhibit celebrating her 40th birthday, and author of Pink Globalization: Hello Kitty’s Trek Across the Pacific. In that cute blankness, she speaks to people, and they think shes mine. Thats certainly true in my household, where my kids think they discovered Hello Kitty, but I know better.

Yano shares more about Hello Kittys allure. In the ’70s, when Hello Kitty was created in Japan, she struck a specific niche of cute goods, geared toward girls. Sanrio took utilitarian objects like a beach slipper and made it special, Yano says. “‘Cute-ifying’ everyday stuff became a kind of genius, and Sanrio expanded licensing to adult things, such as vacuum cleaners, rice cookers, etc.

1. Hello Kitty is a cat, not a girl. Lets get this controversial Hello Kitty fact out of the way first. Despite what you may have heard to the contrary, Hello Kitty is indeed a cat. When I asked Yano about this rumor, she shared that it stemmed from the 2015 museum exhibition that she co-curated. I wrote all the captions no one reads and flippantly wrote feline this and feline that. When she shared them with Sanrio for review, she says, they asked me not to emphasize her as a cat and said, We think of her like a friend, like a girl. She is always supportive, always there. That being said, her ears, whiskers and the fact that she comes from a family of cats is enough to convince me that Hello Kitty is a cat.

2. Hello Kitty was born Kitty White in London on Nov. 1, 1974.

3. She has a twin sister, Mimmy, who wears a yellow bow on her right ear to mirror Kittys red bow on her left ear.

4. Hello Kittys motto is You can never have too many friends. Aside from Mimmy, her circle has expanded to her boyfriend, Dear Daniel; her close friend My Melody; Cinnamoroll, who has been voted the most popular Sanrio character for four years running on the brands website; and a cast of more than 200 others.

5. She ran for president of the United States in 2016 on the Friendship Party.

6. Hello Kitty has collaborated with countless brands. Recent ones include Adidas, McDonalds, Crocs, Gund, Forever 21 and Glamnetic Nails.

7. There are even more unlicensed Hello Kitty products in the world, including the infamous Hello Kitty AK-47. In 2013, Sanrio issued a statement, Sanrio has not and will not authorize the manufacture or sale of any gun or firearm and does not condone the use of our intellectual property for the purposes of marketing such merchandise.

8. At KittyCon, which ran in conjunction with the 2015 exhibit, attendees had the opportunity to get a free Hello Kitty tattoo from a top tattoo artist, reports Yano, who shares that the line for tattoos was long.

Hello Kitty and her friends have been the stars of dozens of TV shows, most recently Hello Kitty: Super Style! The show, which is in its 12th season and airs on Amazon Prime, follows Hello Kitty as she uses her magical bow to transform into a detective, pop star, chef and more to come to the rescue of her friends around town.

10. Hello Kitty has her own theme park, Sanrio Puroland. Unfortunately, for my kids, me and every U.S.-based Hello Kitty fan, its in Japan. The indoor theme park, located just outside Tokyo, features rides (picture a Sanrio version of Disneys Its a Small World), character meet and greets, shows, themed dining and, of course, plenty of shopping.

11. While youll need a passport to visit Sanrio Puroland, there are three Hello Kitty cafes stateside: the flagship Hello Kitty Grand Caf in Irvine, California; a smaller outpost in Universal CityWalk in California; and a takeout branch in Las Vegas. 'To tell the story of Robert Oppenheimer in a book, in film or on stage is to tell the story of a very complicated man. Director Christopher Nolan gives the viewers more than just a caption of Oppenheimer in his new film. The man, J. Robert Oppenheimer, was a physicist, genius, doctorate, father of the atomic bomb, victim of the “Red Scare”. Indeed, I thank Nolan for making a film about a man whose atomic bomb (advanced into the hydrogen bomb, then to the nuclear bomb) changed the entire outlook of modern warfare since 1945. The film doesn’t start with Oppenheimer’s childhood years, but starts circa 1925 when Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) is at Harvard about to graduate with a physics degree. He then does his postgraduate work at Cambridge University only to become frustrated by his overbearing tutor Patrick Blackett (James D’Arcy) who insists that his student stick to lab work rather than work on theory. Oppenheimer, according to rumors, gives him a poisoned apple. Anyway, he didn’t eat the apple.

Oppenhemier’s personality varies from pensive to combative to friendly to aloof. But he is a man during World War II that would be assigned to the famous (or infamous) Manhattan Project on August 13, 1942, presided over by the U.S. Army General Leslie Groves (Matt Damon). It wouldn’t be long before Oppenheimer would clash with his chief antagonist Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Louis Strauss (Robert Downey Jr.) whose aim was to discredit him and his project. Strauss picked outspoken Roger Robb (Jason Clarke), as the lead in Oppenheimer’s 1954 security clearance hearing. In turn, Strauss’ opposition to Oppenheimer would cost Strauss the position of Secretary of Commerce in 1959. Oppenheimer’s life is anything but bland. He marries Kitty (Emily Blunt) and has children. At times she stands up to him when he’s far too aloof; although she can be unreasonable too. Behind the scenes he has a contentious mistress Jean Tatlock (Florence Pugh), who had close associations with the Communist Party. Other notable associates include his best friend Isidor Rabi (David Krumholtz) a physicist who would later receive a Nobel Prize in physics; trusted scientist and another Nobel Prize winner, Ernest Lawrence (Josh Hartnett); and one cannot forget his meeting (later they would collaborate more closely) Albert Einstein (Tom Conti). Oppenheimer took a job as an associate professor at the University of California at Berkeley. (He had received his doctorate in physics at the University of Göttingen in Germany in 1927.) In spite of his brilliance (or because of it), his brother Frank’s (Dylan Arnold) affiliation with the American Communist Party, as well as his mistress’ association with local communists, would put him under an unfavorable light by anti-communist groups. It also must be said Oppenheimer had second thoughts about dropping the bomb – he questioned the morality of it. He would later oppose building the hydrogen bomb, advocating for nuclear peace. Cinematographer Hoyt van Hoytema does a superlative job on the explosion of the atomic bomb. At first there is no sound, followed by a very impressive sound. Nolan stays away from depicting the aftermath at Hiroshima (August 6, 1945) and Nagasaki (August 9, 1945). Notably, it is casually mentioned that the atomic bombs were dropped on Japan, and not Germany. Mr. Nolan’s Oppenhiemer is stunning, surrealistic, beautiful, suspenseful. Cast members Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Kenneth Branagh, and Tom Couti, among others, give tremendous performances.'

Fan Favorite Moments: Seri and Beomgyu

just a quick seri post while im working on yoonmi stuff and a hannah request :3

Guitar

Beomgyu learned how to play the guitar on his own, and everyone knows that he’s really good at it. Because Seri was interested, he started teaching her.

Beomgyu would take videos of her every now and then during one of their sessions and post it on twitter usually with a caption of how proud he was of her.

Seri would also love to brag about how Beomgyu is a musical genius especially when it comes to playing the guitar. When someone mentions instruments, she’s suddenly really on proud student mode.

Fans love how these two always bond over this instrument since it’s something both of them obviously love. The fans also really enjoy seeing the pictures that the other members have of Beomgyu helping Seri with positioning her fingers when teaching her new chords. They find it cute.

Hand Holding

If Taehyun is always clinging on to one of the members’ arms, Seri is 99% of the time holding onto Beomgyu’s hand.

Fans know how protective Beomgyu is over Seri, and they know how much trust Seri has in Beomgyu, so no one is surprised when they see these two holding hands and just generally sticking to each other.

The fans love how these two best friends appear to be each other’s main safety blankets especially when they have to deal with a particularly large crowd or a somewhat uncomfortable situation.

Not to mention the fact that Seri just has really small hands, and Beomgyu’s hands don’t help make her hands look any less small. It’s a cute sight that everyone loves, even the two of them.

Kitty and Bammie

Beomgyu is quite literally the only person who calls Seri Kitty, and Seri is the only person who calls Beomgyu Bammie.

This is kinda a bilingual thing so bear with me while I explain. Basically Beomgyu started calling her Kitty bc she looks like a cat. She wanted something to indicate the moon since Beomgyu was as comforting to her as the moon was. So she called him Bammie, which comes from Bam(밤) meaning night.

When fans found out about this, their relationship as best friends became a lot more recognized and loved by their fans.

Fans love this little special thing that they have between each other, and they love how they call each other these names with their whole chests despite the nicknames being cringey.

That one Talk X Today episode

A lot happened in the episode where these two were together honestly, but it also felt like they didn’t do much because they didn’t even leave the Bighit building.

First, the fans learned a lot about their dynamics like how Seri sits with Beomgyu when he’s working on music while she studies silently, occasionally putting in her input.

They then learned that, despite their somewhat different dance profficiencies in dance (Beomgyu being very powerful and Seri still somewhat new to it but still pretty good), these two go well together as a dancing pair.

The dance they made together during this episode showed how well they bounced off of each other, complemented each other, and how Beomgyu is always excited to help Seri master stuff.

All in all, the amount of exposure regarding their dynamic during this episode is something heavily treasured by the fans.

When Beomgyu got injured in Atlanta

Needless to say that, when Beomgyu started crying, Seri was immediately there to give him a hug. She was absolutely terrified for him when they needed to get a staff member to carry him backstage.

This was all seen in their documentary btw

She had her legs curled into herself while she stayed tucked into Beomgyu’s side just silently comforting him while Soobin and Yeonjun did all the talking.

Fans never saw Seri frown before this episode was released, so it marked as an important event within the fandom.

Fans loved seeing how Beomgyu took comfort in her mere presence, and they were amused to watch Seri worry and very lightly scold Beomgyu for about two seconds before proceeding to take away what he was monitoring and cuddling him.

Bonus: something that the fans don’t know

When Seri can’t sleep, usually Beomgyu let’s her cuddle him and sings her some Bangtan songs quietly just to try and settle her and make her feel as homey and comfortable as possible.

They’re so used to her “dying” that the only unusual thing about it this time was that she got moved to the bed instead of being left on the floor.

WHAT, ME???!!!??? I’m so sorry but I was reading this ask and Fräulein Bianca von Mäusefels was demanding attention (this is me just barely holding her back from stepping on the keyboard because apparently she has things to type. and if I have to suffer from nonstopping kitty attacks you do too, I’ve decided) and yes, her face is one of annoyed indifference, but I assure you mine is not. I’m very flattered.

Top Seven Early Claremont Moments, part the first

Last spring, I made a mission of reading Claremont’s run of Uncanny X-men, starting from Giant-Size X-men #1. I wanted to see what the fuss was about; wanted to read the stories in their original state. So I expected good writing, good stories.

Right away I enjoyed the Phoenix, how the team bickered and misunderstood each other, even appreciated Cyclops’s angst—never thought I’d say it, but I became Team Scott.

But goddamn. I never expected to be blown away. I didn’t know I would be surprised time and time again by the insights Claremont bears on his characters, to be so repeatedly heartbroken. The comparison of Claremont to Greek tragedians no longer seems absurd but obvious.

This is a list of moments that moved me, the panels that made me say: “Claremont is genius.” The list runs from Uncanny X-men #94 to 180, plus the accompanying miniseries, because that’s what I’m up to.

1. Sh*t gets real when Proteus rears his Oedipal head, #127

When Moira MacTaggert warns her estranged husband that their son is on a murderous rampage, she drops a lifetime’s heartbreak in a single sentence: “You didn’t just put me in hospital for a week, you left me pregnant.” 

. . . Which is a darkness that blindsided me. I don’t know what readers expected when they picked up this issue for 40¢, but I sure as hell did not expect a all-too-human domestic drama—of a non-superhero woman, whose husband beat and raped her, left to raise a son who’s turned out to be monster.

Note: Children of rape and violence are not monsters. Obviously. I’d argue Moira’s son is a metaphor for trauma. Claremont, so very much in the woman’s perspective, seems interested in how trauma may feel like a separate entity, for which only the victim seems responsible, and how trauma may be as reality-warping and, well, protean as Proteus.

2. Another discussion on love, #136

Only 9 issues later, we see an inverse of Moira’s dilemma. Boyfriend Cyclops tells the goddess Phoenix, “You are love.”

But the love that allows Jean to save the X-men, then save the universe, requires sustenance too. Phoenix utters a wonderful, wonderful line. “I hunger, Scott—for a joy, rapture, beyond all comprehension. That need is a part of me, too. It consumes me.”

I want to know: How does Claremont know this? How does he understand, so fundamentally, that women are demanded to love limitlessly, without being provided sustenance for themselves? This demand on women doesn’t help the human Moira, and it doesn’t help the goddess.

John Byrne’s radiant, sorrowful Jean does not hurt. I’m in love.

3. The end, #138

Or the beginning? At the end of the Dark Phoenix saga, Claremont goes real small, down to tiny drama of someone locked out of their house. Kitty arrives to the mansion for the first time and no one’s there to greet her. The caption “The X-men will never be the same again!” is so wistful, because it refers to her entry into the X-men but inevitably turns one’s mind to Phoenix.

I just love the sight of a young girl, who has no idea of the melodrama of the last 37 issues, forlorn, at the end of an issue. With the caption, “The beginning.” 

Hope and heart on the horizon. Hang in there, Kitty.

4. Kitty grows up fast, #142

Only four issues after Phoenix dies, we tumble into Days of Future Past. This is like writing Anna Karenina one year after completing War and Peace. How_is_that_possible_?

This was the biggest surprise of everything on my list. Grown-up Kate Pryde, having endured the life in Days of Future Past, sees her 616 younger self— “so innocent, so vulnerable, so young. Impulsively, she gives herself a kiss.” 

Why? It’s not in the art. It’s not necessary. It doesn’t change anything.

But it changes everything. Ageing, compassion, the passing on of knowledge from an older woman to a younger woman; the mercy we wish we’d had on our younger selves.

5. A child, again, #150

Issue #150 is the double-length in which we learn that Magneto is a Holocaust survivor. This could be a gratuitous addition, guided by poor taste; but there are few cheap gestures on Claremont’s part. (Even when he missteps, it’s an interesting misstep—that’s my one-sentence review of God Loves, Man Kills.) In this climactic moment, Magneto viciously attacks Kitty, then “comes to” when he realizes she’s a child. 

And he regrets everything.

He may not know that Kitty is Jewish; it’s enough for him that she’s a mutant. Yet for the reader, her Jewishness matters tremendously. “Fuck metaphors,” Claremont says. “We’re talking about reality and real-world consequences.”

Never moreso than when Magneto speaks of his wronged wife, his murdered daughter (presumably in the death camps). These three panels take on a whole history—of the state can crush the individual, and what losses an individual suffers in trying to make a new state.

6. Growing up too fast, Magik #3

I’d been told, I’d been warned. But how can you anticipate the Magik miniseries? Ilyana Rasputin enters Limbo a child and transforms into an adolescent instantly. I would have used the image of the X-men trying to pull a child out of a portal and yanking out a pubescent adolescent instead—as it’s a terrifyingly precise metaphor for sexual trauma.

But there wasn’t a single good image of that, and anyway I was fixated by this triptych:

Ilyana in bed, frightened of the power she realizes she’s developing—with or without her consent—as she’s trapped and held hostage by a man. Of her power, she says, “It wants me to call on it again. And again. I don’t want to. But I will.”

Ugh. The powerlessness, the desperation—the bed shrinking as the darkness grows. This is a stunningly accurate representation of a girl discovering her sexuality within a patriarchy. It’s the most chilling moment in a series that’s all chilling.

7. What you do can be very nice, Wolverine #3

I read this miniseries rather reluctantly, expecting all sorts of silly Orientalism (there is, including the white guy who out-samurais all the samurais, alas); yet the heartbroken Wolverine—repeatedly called an animal by Mariko’s father—won me over. Well, Wolverine and Frank Miller’s unimpeachable visuals.

“You took my dreams from me, Shingen. But only for a time. Because I’m a man! Not a beast. A man! That mistake is going to cost you.”

we were staying in paris to get away from our parents

Lyric from “Paris” by the Chainsmokers.  We (Rach and I) used to love the Chainsmokers until we found out they were trash humans who cheated on their girlfriends with no remorse, and instead we’ve followed the ex-girlfriends loyally since the breakups.  Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARY!! It’s 11:23 am here in Paris on Cinco de Mayberger and I wish I was in Philly holding that muffin and celebrating our girl, but hopefully I can be soon.  

I really shouldn’t be blogging right now because I’m sitting in a super cool cafe that is meant for working and co-working and I’m paying to be here, so I shouldn’t waste my paid time on blogging... but hey, I’m waiting for my Adderall to kick in and also I think this is the coolest concept ever.  It’s a super cozy space and you pay for the length of time you’re here.  It’s a little expensive but I have no sense of responsibility anymore.  It’s 5 euro an hour and that gets you access to the wifi, convenient plugs everywhere, and an all-inclusive self-serve tea and coffee bar.  I think it’s kind of genius!!  There’s snacks, bread, nutella, all kinds of tea, coffee, etc.  Takes away all the stress of posting up at a coffee shop for hours and wondering how much you need to buy to make yourself feel okay about using their space all day.  Kitty and I are personally very passionate about rental businesses/unlimited concepts like this, and I’m making a mental note to tell her about this so we can open one at home.  There’s a chance Americans wouldn’t go for it, but I think at the right price it’d be dope.  Of course, it basically reminds me of a bottomless brunch, and I’m pre-panicked I won’t get my money’s worth.  What if we served mimosas at our place, Kitty?!  Interesting.  I wish it wasn’t 3:30 am in Breck right now so we could discuss this.  

Last I left off I was on the train to Paris.  Vienna and Prague genuinely feel like years ago.  Such a weird trip, start to finish.  Not the kind I’d design on my own, but not NOT... just odd to be here mostly alone without a plan and kind of figuring it out as I go.  Not my style.  I got into Gare de L’est in Paris and figured out the Metro to Angie and Adam’s place around 7 pm.  Their 7-month-old is very French and goes to bed around 9:30 pm, so we bonded right away and she instantly took to me.  They tell me she’s mostly like that with all strangers, but I feel I’m special to her.  She cries when I leave the room!!  I had to sneak out to the cafe this morning because she was bawling when I went to my room after saying good morning to her.  Sweet angel.  Her name is “Thea” but they exclusively call her “Doodle” and it reminds me of our muff.  We ended up just hanging out all night on their couch and catching up, and then they got some pizzas and pasta from the place across the street for dinner and I ate All Of It.  The French don’t fuck around with their food (she says, shoving a shortbread cake coated in Nutella in her mouth between keystrokes.)  Had a bottle of wine and we stayed up until 1 am or so, just so lovely.

I woke up Saturday morning and braved what was admittedly freezing rain to walk to the local bakery Angie suggested.  Since they live right next to the Luxembourg Gardens I also popped in there, as it reminds me of the photo Amy and I took sitting on the fountain mirroring each other, back in January 2011.  I captioned it “The City of Love and Weight Gain” and steel trap Amanda remembered that ever since and recently posted a pic with the same caption, smh, she’s incredible.  Learned on this morning walk that my right black boot had worn through the sole, so my foot got soaked and I felt that “squidge squidge” with each step... so fun.  Went to the bakery and had a panic attack leading up to the order as I rehearsed what I was going to say in my head a million times over.  Eventually spit out “Je voudrais... trois croissants....deux pain au chocolat... et un baguette....s’il vois plait....” and to the girl’s credit, she didn’t immediately transfer to English upon hearing how painfully transparently American I sounded, and gave me the total in French!  I obviously had blacked out and couldn’t hear her, but the total was displayed on the cash register, so I paid and survived.

After lazing around a bit the rest of the morning, we all packed up and went across town to a Scottish bar that was playing the Tottenham game that Adam was interested in.  I love sports so I was happy to go, but man, soccer is dumb.  At one point one guy got a red card for lightly shoving a player after the play, and I almost burst out laughing at how that move disqualified him from that game and the next game, whereas in hockey that’s literally encouraged and we tally how many hits per game a player has.  Our friend Aaron came to join us!!  So good to see him, I think the last time I saw him was December 2016 right after I had moved to Denver and he was passing through town.  I remember specifically because I showed him my apartment, that first one in Uptown next to Kitty, and it was completely empty.  Back when I glamped all day.  He’s near fluent in French now and I find it attractive.  

We all went to an ex-pat bar after that and met up with Adam’s English co-worker and her friend who I found enchanting.  They’re both from Brighton and were just lovely, interesting, funny women.  We talked a little bit about the differences between England vs. the States and they said, “one thing we’ve always wanted to know - why do you have those huge gaps in the doors between your public bathrooms? You can practically see inside!” I said “I honestly have no idea and we all hate it too.  Ask me something else I can answer!!!”  We drank there for a while until Angie took Thea home because she was starting to get a little under the weather and fussy, and Aaron had a weird reaction to his IPA and immediately lost his voice.  Adam went home to Angie, and Angie’s niece who had just come in asked if I wanted to get dinner.  To be honest, I did not want to get dinner.  She is a little odd for a 30-year-old female and I didn’t have any idea what we were going to talk about.  Spoiler: I was correct.  She’s the kind of person who just won’t respond if she isn’t interested in what you have to say.  So we’d be walking along chatting, and I’d say something, and she’d just be silent.  Laaa dee daaa... she also lived in Versailles in college and is also fluent in French, and knew her way around very well, so I unintentionally just felt dumb and patronized.  We stopped at a place she wanted to go to for “authentic French cuisine”, blech, and I just got an omelette.  The menu was all in French and luckily I mostly knew what I was reading, but she didn’t even lightly offer to translate. Ha.  She eventually got more approachable and bubbly when we started talking about dating and her boyfriend and the online dating scene.  After dinner, to her credit, she thanked me for agreeing to dinner with her and humoring me on the choice of restaurant and walking together.  So maybe she’s just one of those people who doesn’t emote well but is kind and appreciative on the inside.  Walked home and went to sleep, again in silence.

Woke up intermittently and kept checking the Phillies’ score in the middle of the night, only to see a very sad ending... sigh.  At least Rhys and Bryce looked hot AF.  Angie and Adam are Nats fans but admittedly love both Rhys and Bryce.  I showed Adam the press conference of Bryce thanking Ned as a part of his signing, and Adam was THOROUGHLY impressed, so that made it all worth it.

Going to stay at this cafe for several hours and try to give Angie and Adam some space, as Angie thinks she and Thea are getting sick and I don’t want to impose more than I already have.  I may walk to the 6th later to visit the Hotel Raphael, Hotel Majestic, and the Peninsula; as ER has places in each of them and it would be amazing to see them firsthand.  Usually people on-site are very kind to me when I just pop in and say I work for ER, because it’s in their best interest to show me good service so I highly recommend them to my members.  Maybe I’ll splurge and have a cocktail or a short massage at the world-famous Peninsula hotel!!  TBD, the day is young.  For now, hopefully I accomplish my freelance work so I’m not a miserable jet-lagged shrew next week.  Wish me luck!!

Childhood Crushes

ANYWAY I want this to be a little series. Now Normally I only post on even number days (cause I really hate odd numbers for some reason) but if @purrincess-chat says we need more fluff in the world well who am I to deny that. This is more comedy than fluff but it makes me smile so... that counts for something right? I will post this on ff.net and archive of our own on another even number day. 

Marinette had no intention to leave Adrien's house until Nathalie kicked her out.   They , along with Nino, Alya and some other friends had started to help Adrien sort his things so he could sell and secretly begin work on packing his stuff for a possible future move. Adrien had been talking about it in class, his desire to move out the second he could. It was Marinette's idea to start quietly getting ready by secretly selling things he couldn't take or didn't want. She reasoned he could use the money to get an even nicer place and when he leaves he can transport less. Adrien deemed his girlfriend a genius but what else is new? Anything she did to him was a stroke of genius. She WAS his lady after all. They were going through old albums when Marinette squealed in delight. Adrien's head heard turned so fast he was shocked he didn't receive whiplash. In Marinette's hand was a scrapbook with a very distinctly Disney theme. It sparked a memory in him, his mother buying the album during a trip to Disneyland Paris and him being insanely happy. Before he could say a thing she giggles again. "You were such an adorable little dork! aww!~ so cute!~" He is very confused by this statment. He goes to look over her shoulder and instantly regrets his life choices.She had found one of his dirty little secrets and he became impossibly red.  He had hoped she NEVER found out this little tidbit of his life. The album was turned to a picture of him no older than six or seven in Disneyland. It was clearly a character meet and greet of Mulan and he was very clearly starstruck with a blush rivaling Marinette's usual one. As a final cherry on the top of the embarrassment sundae, his mother oh so kindly put the caption "Adrien meeting his favorite princess" with a little winking face next to it . Marinette giggles as she clutches the album to her chest "Aww , this is so cute! You had such a crush on Mulan! You darling little dork!... I am keeping this by the way!"  She said with an evil grin as Adrien tried to grab it from her.  Plagg ,who had until Marinette's second squeal, had been in hiding took a quick look at the picture just before Marinette brought it to her chest. He blinked once and started laughing his head off " Kid , you obviously had a type! even when you were a kid! This is too good!"  He wiped a tear from his eye with his stumpy cheese encrusted paw. Adrien blushes impossibly more red and tries harder to take the album away from his laughing girlfriend. "Princess! NO! Give me that! I need to burn it! I thought it was lost!" he whined "Never! This is a treasure and it is mine now!" She taunted in a sing song voice. She bolted up and out of the room, laughing as she went. "Call you later kitty! Bye!" Tikki looks at Adrien with pity and is trying not to laugh. Adrien gives her a look of utter betrayal "Et tu Tikki?" Tikki lets out a giggle " You have to admit it's cute " Adrien groans in embarrassment, no one would ever let him live THIS down.

Hey everypawdy, it’s me, RaenaBelle. I’s comin’ to ya’ live from the messy Three Belles Ranch. We had planned to tell you all ‘bout our new cat tree last week, but when the innernets went out, all our plans went to the pig trough.

                    The pig trough RaenaBelle? What pig trough are you meowin’ ‘bout?  

  I’s don’t know sissy. It sounded good, okay? Anyways, a couple of weeks befur we moved back home from the hotel, we were contacted by Yaheetech from amazon and asked ifin we’d review one of their cat trees. You know how much we luvs our cat tree, so sissy and me were like, yeah mommy, tell ‘em yeah. Besides, I’s thought it would make a great birthday/gothcaday purresent too. 

                  Yeah Raena, me was all in too. But, mommy bein’ the good mommy she is, she had to check out their trees furst. Mommy knows, that we’re kind’a larger girly girls just by the nature of our breed. And, a lot of the pre made cat trees aren’t sturdy enuff or big enuff fur larger kitties like us.   

        That’s true sissy. Well, after checkin’ out their cat trees, mommy decided on the middle sized one, the Yaheetech 62” Cat Tree. She said it had a nice big base that should make it more stable fur those times when we come flyin’ thru the ranch and leap to the top. Somethin’ we’ve yet been able to do what with all the boxes and stuffs every where.   

                    Me can’t wait till mommy gets everythin’ put away so we can really check out it’s sturdiness, Raena. Mommy says the average pre made cat tree is really only good fur kittens and adult cats less than 8 pounds who aren’t overly active. So, she had her fingers crossed this tree would work fur us.

      It arrived while we were still at the hotel, so mommy left it packed up till we got home. Assembly is required, but everythin’ ya’ need is included in the box. There’s an instruction booklet with drawings, and each piece is labeled with corresponding letters. It does indeed have a nice large base and it also has a security strap that you can use to attach it to the wall behind it. Just be careful when you put it together to make sure you follow the pictures or your security strap will be on the wrong side…like ours. MOL

                Yeah well Raena, mommy never claimed to be a put it together genius. And, it only took ‘bout an hour fur her to get it all put together and moved into a spot in front of a window. It will purrobably take your humans less time, cuz mommy had to keep takin’ breaks and restin’. Not to mention, she had to move things around a bit fur it to fit. It is larger than expected, which is a good thing and means more stability.  

        Naturally, bein’ cats, we were all over the individual pieces getting in the way helpin’ out while mommy worked tirelessly putting it together. But once it was finished, we didn’t seem to notice. Of course, we eventually tried it out. There is a small dangle toy attached to the top shelf with a piece of elastic, that we recommend you cut off immediately. This is a hanging hazard, especially fur young kittens. Kitties should never be left unsupervised with these dangly toys that come attached to most cat trees and some other cat toys. Mommy removed ours after the supervised foto shoot fur this review.

                Yeah Raena, those dangle toys sure are dangerous. Me nearly hung me’s self when me was a wee kitty girl. The tree’s great without it. And me does mean great. There’s 4 stable shelves and a cubby house that makes a great nappin’ spot. The tippy top basket is a bit small and we’re not sure why they even bothered with the circular tunnel cubby unner the top shelf, but all in all, there’s purrlenty of room fur just ‘bout any size house cat. And mommy really ‘purreciates the security strap and says it would come in handy fur those extremely active kitties.

      I’s sure glad you didn’t hang yourself sissy. Anyways, the tree’s made of a low pile plush carpet with sisal rope wrapped ‘round the suppurrt legs, a sisal mat built into the base and a sisal pedestal on the top shelf. Whether kitty’s a vertical or horizontal scratcher, this cat tree can satisfy both. We took a vote and decided to give the Yaheetech 62” Cat Tree 3 paws up and mommy gives it a thumb up. The price of $65.99 is purretty reasonable fur a nice size cat tree. And you know every kitty deserves their very own cat tree, right? Guess I’s gonn go finish mine’s brekky now and maybe spend a little time on the tree later. See ya’ll soon.
