ok now to answer: it really depends on when inspiration strikes and which mercs strike me first!

i’ll write all of my idea titles and get them saved on separate draft posts; and from there i literally go down the line of mercs from offense to defense to support bc im always really worried i’ll forget one of them. the only time i didn’t do that was with baby’s first respawn for story setup reasons— and that took me a couple of days bc i wanted to make sure i got every merc. so if i have a very specific idea for like, scout or pyro; i can use that inspiration’s momentum to get to the support class and generally complete them within the day. but if what i’m writing i initially had very specific ideas for like… engie or spy, it takes a few hours spread out over the course of a couple of days. and since i’m always working on more than one at a time, i’m generally able to get 1-2 done per day. 3 if i’m really on a roll.

medic is the only exception bc i think about him all the time and have thought about him thematically nonstop for a decade so i am always, always able to write a solid three paragraphs for him under any circumstance for any concept i can think of bc who he is to me is absolute and unquestioned. i also main medic as a player so he’s literally always on my mind bc i put in shifts on that game. it’s my second job.

heavy is a tipping point. i feel like how i personally view heavy as a character is becoming more vivid daily; so oftentimes by the time i get to heavy, who is normally smack dab in the middle of the lineup, if not a little earlier, i always get that boost to get me through the defense boys and into support, where i have a more solid grasp on how i view those characters.

snipes and demo are tipping points but not in the same way heavy is. they’re tipping points in the way that i either know them or i don’t, and when i don’t know them i absolutely can’t make it up, and i get stuck until their inspiration hits me. they give me the most grief.

and all of this doesn’t even mention that i am CONSTANTLY updating and editing my posts. i’ve changed entire paragraphs hours before the post goes live because of how quickly ideas come to me. i go through the posts currently up to see if there’s anything i could add, or take out, or change entirely, and i check each post once they’re up for grammatical errors. so even once they’re up, they’re not really done, yknow?

my first & biggest source—i snoop on everyone’s bookmarks. like everyone. if i read a fic i liked, i check that author’s bookmarks. if someone comments on my fic, i check their bookmarks. if i come across someone talking ab fic on the tl, i go to their ao3 and check their bookmarks. i’ve found so many great fics just by snooping on what other ppl are reading 🫶

my second most-used tactic: searching for tags & using filters. if i’m looking for something specific, i search the tags/pairings i want and make sure to exclude things i don’t want (i.e. i don’t usually want to read jegulus, so i make sure to exclude that pairing in my results. same goes w tags/ratings/warnings u don’t want). i’ll sort by date, kudos, and hits separately, and add anything that sounds interesting to my bookmarks to sort through later. ao3 really has the best filtering and tagging system out there, but a lot of times we don’t use it to its full capacity! if you want to read something specific there’s a very good chance someone has written it, you just need to search and filter your results so that you’re not just seeing the most recent stuff! (i also filter by word count a lot too bc i’m not always in the mood for something multi-chaptered or something that will take me multiple days to finish reading)

last, sometimes i’ll go into the main pairing tag i’m looking for and sort by kudos/hits/date/whatever and jump to like….the 30th page of results. there’s sooooo much stuff i miss just bc it gets lost in the flow of new/popular fics, so jumping to random deep-dive search results will help you find new stuff & come across fics & authors you haven’t seen before 💞💖💘

It's probably Meant To Be. Now that I think about it, I might write an extra piece for this fic just bc I feel like being salty lol

The Only Light We'll See - The whole fic was just an excuse to write steamy, smutty Linzin and let them have a happy life together. I guess you could argue that the main Linzin and family AU I write could also be one of them, but I haven't completed their story yet in this universe. Tbf, I don't think my Linzin AU has an "ending" but whatever happens, Linzin gets their happy ever after

Right now, I don't. But I was more open to writing crossovers when I was a kid.

I think emotions are a big part of my writing process and it comes through in my fics. I channel my own emotions into my writing and it does leave a more profound impression.

Sometimes I want my writing perfect in the first draft, and it stops me from just enjoying the process. Recently, I've been wanting to write and that has manifested into writing for "results" rather than quality. I mean, I still try to write my best and for the fun of it. It's just that work sucks my energy and the time I have left for myself is recharging 😭

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I need more context with this question. Does this mean if I do something like this:

I think I mentioned this before with a similar question but any kind of name reveal/people switching to use a more personal name for someone makes me so emotional. like wilbur telling niki his name in glass, or wilbur giving phil permission to use his name in stars, or when tommy started using wilbur's name in world forgetting, etc etc I just love the kind of trust that comes with giving someone permission to use your name in worlds where names have a lot of importance put on them

👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!

well since we're nearing the end of glass I actually have the first chapter of my upcoming royalty au already planned out, and I'm planning on writing it on the plane ride over to amsterdam next week (I'm hoping I'll be able to publish ch 1 of the royalty au the same time I post ch 26 of glass, and then I'll do my usual thing of finishing glass before I start updating it regularly)

anyway, you're in luck icy! the royalty au is going to be very heavily sandduo focused. like if there are three main relationships in it, it's going to be sandduo, rainduo, and crimeboys

I've talked about it a bit already, but my inspo for this fic was from watching house of the dragon so it's going to have a lot of game of thrones style politics in it. phil is going to be doing a lot of scheming, wilbur is going to be doing his best to follow in his father's footsteps, the story might end up taking place over the course of several years instead of how my stories usually just take place over the course of 6-10 months (still not decided but I think that's the direction I'm going), there's going to be so much grey morality, and people will get murdered :) it's gonna be a fun ride and I'm so excited to start writing it

It really feels like it should be a thing- I think maybe all background affects dialog wise, is whether or not your character gets the Baldurian tag..? But that might just be a race thing (in which you'd either get Baldurian or Underdark. Or... Nothing for githyanki? Unless they have the Planar tag? Idk)

I may not be able to have the option in game, but in my mind's eye my noble Tav introduced themselves proudly with their full name, and Astarion immediately poked fun at them for how much of a mess their family is known to be. Them most likely recognizing Wyll as the Ravengard son and assuming he'd know of them as well but he straight up doesn't. Beautiful stuff

1 - You read it!! I didn't think anyone would notice, I'm so happy. I really want to add them to the several characters mini-lists I make but I always hesitate because since the post will leave my blog tags, I don't want it to feel like I'm forcing my OC into the fandom main media?

So I just leave it in the tags for my readers to hopefully find, since only you guys know about Sol and will see the OG post while most people will see reblogs of reblogs without my tags.

It's like, while Halsin embraces fate and has faith in it, Sol and Minthara do not. They realise how incredibly lucky they are to have met you. Sol condems fate for being so pitiful, how easily they'd have never met you and just spent their life hiding their true self and following their family.

While Minthara fears fate, she knows she would've killed you under any other circumstances. She dreads the idea of never waking up from her brainwashing, be it from Lolth or the Absolute.

2 - I'm glad to hear you liked it! I can't stress how I will never get tired of hearing this or how these comments never get redundant to me. Honestly, I'm having a really bad day rn but still pushed out a fic bc I felt like it's been a while, it makes me feel appreciated when people tell me they liked anything about my works. 3- omfg, the Astarion idea is gold. He would totally have gossip on most noble families since he spent so much time in the upper city. You'd be announce yourself and titles so proudly and he'd be like "didn't your cousin runaway with that barmaid and leave his wife and three kids behind?"

Or playful banter with Wyll since he came from nobility originally, the two of your characters could've seen each other as kids or something before the whole Mizora thing and he'd be like "wait...I remember you! You're that kid who stole my piece of cake during my birthday party"

Also imagine insulting Gortash during his coronation with a noble background, basically calling hime fake nobility and how he doesn't know the first thing about rulling or etiquette.

Maybe when you come back to the city, you already have an account made in the bank and don't need to start another? Maybe you get pickpocketed quite often because you "look rich" and if you sleep at any camp besides the elfsong tavern, you remain restless and don't heal to full.

Being an obnoxious noble sounds way too fun. A spoiled rich person who has to trudge around in the mud in the underdark and complain about their silk clothes getting absolutely ruined while the party snicker behind you.

Imagine teaching Lae'zel and Shadowheart how to slow dance <3 or taking Karlach to a very fancy restaurant reservation during her date in act 3!

i'll be honest, out of everyone, meta knight's the only person who ever disapproved of it. the reason was mostly because of his disdain for galacta. he didn't have the best view of him for a while, and considered him a dishonorable, violent and selfish person. he grew out of that view after spending more time with the him. he still thinks that gala's selfish and violent (and narrow-minded and a few other things) but he knows he has a heart now. that heart is solely reserved for his closest loved ones, though, so meta doesn't get to see much of it unless mienna's around! plus, he can tell how much mienna enjoys his company.

most characters would probably be pretty neutral about it except for magolor. mienna and galacta barely know him, especially since he only passes by to ask history questions or borrow books, but he definitely knows them. mostly through overhearing conversations, but still. he's rooting for it, but mostly because he thinks seeing gala around would be cool!

[12 - 💞]: When did they each first realize that they had fallen in love with the other person? Did they confess their feelings soon after realizing or did it take a while for them to confess?

much to his dismay, gala fell first (and probably very, very hard.) while 'when' isn't something i've got cut out too clearly right now, i think he'd probably realise during one of his softer moments. maybe while she's tending to his wounds, or helping him preen the feathers he can't quite reach, or even while they're just spending time together. no talking, no nothing. i mentioned this in the ask i answered earlier from this ask game (in the tags), but he doesn't like being very open or vulnerable with people. he's only ever let himself be vulnerable with one person, back in his glory days (who i won't talk about bc i'm not done designing her but she's pretty relevant). it clicks to him that he hasn't felt this safe in years - centuries, even - and that he's been softening up around her. of course, he tries to fight it and avoid her, but that's pretty hard when you live with your crush!

mienna fell for him really slowly, and she didn't realise for a while. in fact, meta had to point it out to her - that maybe, just maybe, she might be in love with him. she thought about that for a while. there was a bit of doubt, particularly because she truly and honestly did not believe that he'd ever fall in love. she figured that he'd take love as a distraction from his duties, even in a time when he wasn't so needed anymore. but she accepted it after a while.

the thing is, both of them would probably have an awful time confessing. if meta knight didn't play wingman for both of them (a terrible experience, really), they'd probably never tell each other how they felt. even with meta's intervention, it'd take quite a while for either of them to muster the guts to confess.

[16 - 🎮]: At what point in the Kirby series (during a specific game, between games, specific anime episode, etc.) did your ship get together?

[17 - 🤝]: Have they ever gone on a double date with another couple/is that something that they would be interested in? If so, who is the other couple that they’d go out with, and what would they all do during the date?

oooh, this is a fun one! while they've never gone on a double date before, i don't think either of them would mind having one with mk and dedede! it'd probably be some catch-up over dinner and wine with some friendly sparring on the side. admittedly, mienna sucks at fighting, so it'd probably turn from a double date to an all-stars teaching session.
