Also, like, how do the magnus archive people feel about their tag getting mixed into the transmisogyny affected discussion? Curious if it is having any effect at all
#da#this is why you've gotta consider your acronyms carefully when you make 'em#like I was using yt to mean youtube but people had been using it to mean white and similarly nb for nonbinary is actually non black#I swapped over to ytb and nby after finding those out#I guess for the tma tme people we could do uhhh valid people and annoying people? that seems equivalent to how I see it used. aw but dang.#vp and ap are also already used 🤔 gosh. guess we might just have to give up then! an absolute shame bc it's so so valiant and productive#... I gotta stop being mean...

Diasomnia sexuality (and some gender) headcanons I just wanted to yap about for no reason:
Malleus: Demiromantic Bisexual
-> There's that joke that he doesn't gaf about gender as long as it's Yuu, but (for the demiromantic part) I also like the idea that he's ride-or-die, sentimental and clingy for anyone he gets close to. So generally the only difference for how he cares about people is the type of attraction + specific boundaries (can be slightly possessive in a different way for a romantic interest? Idk)
-> Also not really sexuality but I see his gender as that "I'm probably nonbinary but I have a job so idrc about that rn" tweet but for being the next king In general I think being acespec & nonbinary would be extra perplexing for bro since he never stopped to think about personal identity stuff like that for too long (too duty-pilled🥀)
-> Being dense about regular emotional experiences + actual difference in the norms of attraction and gender add to the gap of understanding between him and others
Lilia: Bisexual (not really a sexuality but he's also polyamorous)
-> This isn't sexuality again but I also think transfeminine Lilia is cool, I genuinely believed that Lilia was just a woman with a really deep voice the first time I saw him (I was watching him vs Leona in Book 2 out of context). There's no way to easily explain this in English but by this the specific identity i see him as is basically 'bakla' in the Philippines. It is really its own gender identity in our culture and isn't a "direct equivalent" of any one anglophone label, but for the sake of non-filipinos i guess you can just understand this to mean i see Lilia as "nonbinary transfem in the Filipino way"👍
-> I think it would align with his story in a good way with how she's maligned by the senate and such, how even as a soldier Lilia was coloring her hair for style. It's also like that thing where a guy who was already considered obviously effeminate and "one of the girls" atp (I see Meleanor as kids playing with Lilia in typically "girly" ways and encouraging his cuteness/hair styling) comes out later on as actually a girl/fem nonbinary
-> General Lilia is this is that type of situation where a transfem person can't really go all out with their expression because current life-threatening circumstances require "masculinity" or their focus to be exclusively on external matters (in this case its Lilia being a lowly bat soldier in an active war. Similar to Malleus, an idea of patriotic obligation stops him from really questioning or exploring since the country needs "strength" and "unity" in these times, there was also just really little time to wonder when you're fighting for your life everyday). But after retiring Lilia is able to realize she likes being perceived as cute and begins going all out in her appearance👍
Lilia edit with the article this headcanon reminds me of:

Silver: Aroace
-> Thought it would be a kind of cool subversion of the usual fairytale prince archetype Silver is made to emulate, where romance is the greatest and purest love and marriage is THE happy end. I think it aligns with Silver wanting to spend his life "repaying" the kindness of Malleus and Lilia; if they asked him to think about gertting a family of his own in the future, I think he'd just say the true love he's found in life is already them. A knight who dedicates his lifetime devotion to familial love instead
Sebek: Gaylm
-> One of bro's most notable character gags is glazing another man at every opportunity so yeah /j. Also fsr I just can't see him as a man romantically with a woman no matter what lol
(THIS ISN'T OBJECTIVE THOUGH this is just how I personally sense his vibes. Go crazy fellow fem yumes and OC artists. You are the pillars of this earth)
⚠️ My only disclaimer is that I am cisgender so the gender headcanons are only me relating the characters to scholarly articles on transfem experiences/from personal accounts of transfem and nonbinary people online and irl.
Another reminder that these are all headcanons made by viewing canon in a specific way, not me saying they're definitively any of these identities. You can still have cis or male malleus and lilia if you prefer that😭
That is all. Thank you for reading👊🔥

so i lurk in the tags and i guess im just. a little confused about the conversations going on in transandrophobia and transmisogyny tags. apologies for any spelling errors
firstly im not all that familiar with all the terminology bc i don't spend a lot of time in online discussion spaces where language tends to evolve the fastest. but more importantly:
i don't quite understand why so many people consider creating a new term for transmasc issues a problem. as far as i can tell (and i could be reading it wrong, and im sure there are outliers but this is my general reading) no one is using it to say that transmisogyny doesn't exist or "isn't that bad", it's just a way to express a different experience, right? i guess i just wanted to express my confusion to someone and you seem to be one of the more prominent blogs here
theres been a couple points ive seen floating around for why people dont like the term and its all been very petty or bigoted imo
its "copying the homework" of transmisogyny. basically the equivalent of the fucking "gay flag is copying the lesbian flag!!!!!" discourse. literally who cares.
"being a man isnt a meaningful intersection because you cant be oppressed for being men!" men of color (including the one who coined the term) disagree and id rather listen to them than the opinions of white people trying to talk over them
"transandrophobia is just being used to spread transmisogyny!" youre listening to other peoples opinions of transandrophobia rather than what we're actually saying in the tag. people who have actually taken the time to look through the tag have come to understand our issues as trans men/mascs better. besides that, i see transandrophobia in the transmisogyny tag CONSTANTLY. that doesnt mean that the term transmisogyny should be abandoned. shitty people exist. get a grip.
"trans men/mascs arent oppressed". invalid and incorrect. next.
"trans men/mascs have no uniques experience of oppression so theres no need for a word for it" forced pregnancy thats meant to detransition us. next.
"trans women/fems have it worse because they get murdered more". because no one fucking know about the struggles we as trans men/mascs go through because we are hyperinvisible even within the queer community. everyone always uses "trans" to mean exclusively trans women/fems. even spaces that are labeled as supposedly "trans friendly" are only meant for trans women/fems and nonbinary people and trans men/mascs are excluded. but you dont hear about that shit because theres no place for us to talk about it until we made a word for it and are talking about our experiences under it. no one will ever know theres a problem if theres no word for that problem.
"the coiner of transandrophobia is a rapist with a butch breaking kink" this is what a very twisted game of telephone has created. the coiner is a sex worker who indulged in the kink of a client that is a trans woman with a butch breaking kink. thats what actually happened and its disgusting that people felt the need to attack and target a tmoc sex worker like this.
i think thats all of the arguments and hopefully this is a decent enough breakdown of all of them for u anon

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I want to share with the world my fan-design of Kyoka Suigetsu as well as my headcanons on her. Her whole character is a part of my AIchi fan-comic in progress. But can be seen without Aizen x Ichigo context, I think. Spoilers for whole Bleach manga ahead!! Also, I am sorry for possible mistakes in text since I did not sleep or eat for a while and may be a little dizzy. I hope LanguageTool will help with most of 'em. I tag this as fan char since Kyoka basically has no canon character outside of having a name
Her true appearance is basically fem!Aizen, since, uh, well, he doesn't really listen to her any way, if she didn't have the face of "the smartest man in the room" (Aizen's opinion) He probably wouldn't even bother to hear her at all... I know a lot of people like to imagine Kyoka as a nonbinary being who has no true form, but I intended to make a lot of parallels with Ichigo and Zangetsus, so she has both a true form and is a female spirit. "Familiar face, unfamiliar personality" thing.
Zangetsus mainly care only about Ichigo, for he lacks any self-care whatsoever. Aizen on the other side has enough of every self-centered feelings imaginable, so Kyoka is his humanity, imprisoned in his own illusions. Aizen claims he left clues for his real personality, but no one bothered to know him. Kyoka argues Aizen is the one who closed both himself and her in the prison of loneliness - "Those feelings that you choose to never express are as well may be considered not real for the world outside. Nonexistent"
Second layer of Aizen's inner world - the black part of the pond is a symbol of not his emotions, feelings, personality but of all those as a concept - every person is a pitch black mystery. Aizen pretends he perfectly understands what other people feel and how they will behave, and the fact he is usually has right predictions doesn't help, just as other people pretend they know just what is going on in his mind. Until Aizen admits that, the second layer of his inner world is just a floor to him. It's a solid surface he comfortably stands on, but he can not see what's underneath.
The reflection of the moon, tho it wasn't present for his whole life, actually should've always been there. The absence of the moon is basically an equivalent of Ichigo's inner world being permanently filled with water. Because of the moon appearing after the fight for Karakura town, Kyoka calls it "reflection of Zangetsu" (I guess it's not an uncommon knowledge that Aizen and Ichigo have same moon kanji in their zanpakuto names). Aizen had no clue about moon appearance for a few decades, if not centuries, since he literally never visits his inner world, and Kyoka usually ignores him back. Kyoka and Aizen are still having similar personality at it's core, but Kyoka is closer to someone between post TYBW Aizen and persona of Captain Aizen. She sympathizes with Ichigo but thinks that Aizen should leave the poor man be.
To sum it up, I give you messages from my and my co-autor's direct:
Zangetsus with Ichigo: YOU ARE THE CENTER OF THE WORLD, DUMBASS Kyoka with Aizen: YOU ARE NOT THE CENTER OF THE WORLD, DUMBASS
Aizen: WE are the center of the world, Ichigo Ichigo: we are DUMBASSES, Aizen Kyoka and Zangetsus: NO

"Do I Have A Crush?" Quizzes as an Aromantic
In a previous post I had mentioned that I love taking "do I have a crush?" quizzes as an Aromantic. What I didn't share in that post was all of my findings from taking basically every quiz on that topic I could find. This is gonna be a bit of a long one, but I hope it will be an enlightening one!
Being an aro and taking these quizzes is pretty interesting. Because I do get plushes, which for me share some qualities with crushes, but are a completely different experience as a whole. For lack of a better equivalent, I have used my plushes while taking these quizzes. This will become relevant later on.
Anyway, here are my findings:
1. The target demographic for these quizzes is teenage girls. Well, the majority of online quizzes are intended for teenage girls. But these ones are especially designed for teenage girls. It's often painfully obvious by the way they are written, the answers available, and the scenarios provided. About crushes specifically though, this makes sense. Most people have their first crush during their teenage years. So the next logical step is to be curious about these new feelings and take an online quiz to figure out what's going on. Why only girls, though? Hard to say. It could be because they assume boys generally feel more confident in their romantic interest and thus would have no need for such a thing. Worth noting it was very hard to find a TRULY gender inclusive quiz. There's tons of wlm and wlw, but almost nothing for mlw or mlm. And if you're nonbinary or your crush is nonbinary, good fucking luck. The vast majority of them rely on some sort of gender stereotype. So many of these are clearly written from the perspective that you are a cishet woman interested in a cishet man. In multiple quizzes I have actually found typos where instead of using they/them, they accidentally use he/him in one question, almost like it had been up for a few years, then someone edited it later and missed one. A freudian slip if I ever saw one.
2. Practically all of them assume you are currently attending high school I understand that this is the time when most people get their first crush... but there are people who only crush on celebrities and fictional characters until they are an adult. This is not an extremely uncommon occurrence. So as you can imagine, there are a lot of questions that ask about how you interact with this person at school. Usually the addition of "or at work" feels like an afterthought. Some quizzes I've come across don't even consider that an adult might be taking the quiz. Like the question just openly states that you are at school.
3. They frequently assume that your crush is NOT someone in your friend group. This is probably the most interesting one to me personally. Because I myself cannot get a plush on someone until I've known them as a friend for at least three months. And I know plenty of non-aro people that need to get to know someone as a friend before developing romantic feelings. It's just... such an oddly specific assumption, y'know? They don't even consider that maybe this person is already in your friend group (unless you are talking specifically "do I have a crush on my best friend" quizzes). They just doesn't consider that the way you feel about someone can change over time. It's love at first sight or you will never feel that way about that person, I guess. (I think this is more teenager shenanigans. Because "am I about to enter a relationship with an abusive guy" doesn't appear to be the concern. Just that both or either friend group might not approve...?)
4. They generally assume your crush is a stranger or someone you do not know very well. Related to the previous one, this one is kind of weird to me. I understand the concept of love at first sight, but these are "do I have a crush" quizzes, not "is this love at first sight" quizzes. Almost every quiz I took had a least one question that assumed you had fallen in love with someone you have never spoken to. And often for answers on other questions instead of including an "I'm on the fence for how I feel about this person" option in the answers, which would be pretty logical to include, they have an option that says "N/A because I don't actually know them." However, the "do I have a crush on my best friend" quizzes are an exception to this. Instead they often assume you are spending every single free moment of time you have with this person.
5. If you have a crush on your best friend, you have either terribly misinterpreted you feelings and theirs, or they will never feel the same way about you. Um, yeah... I guess some people just can't tell the difference between romantic attraction and just being really good friends. But an important note: I think in some cases there's definitely outside pressure saying that two people "should" be in a romantic relationship simply because they are close platonically. Making those people question how they feel. Hence the existence of these quizzes. I can definitely feel that pressure while taking them.
6. They assume that your friends are all a certain type of person and your relationship with them is very specific. So here's the common assumptions I found across most quizzes:
Your friends are the type of people that are very invested in the love lives of everyone in that friend group. (And also outside of your friend group...)
Your friends are the type of people that will tease you about your romantic interests instead of being supportive.
You talk frequently about your love interests, love life, or lack there of with your friends. (Before you say "What? Everyone does that!" Not everyone does that.)
You are the only person questioning your feelings, everyone else is certain you have a crush.
Thankfully a teenage friend has informed me that this is 100% a teenager behaviour that happens all the time. Although I have seen cases where women under the age of 25 can also do this. I would go into detail about each of those but I think how these are not good assumptions to make is pretty self explanatory. You don't know me, you don't know what my friends are like, stop saying your experiences are universal. I will say blindly trusting the quiz taker's friends is not as reliable of a choice as it sounds. Sometimes people will just call any fond feelings for someone, platonic or not, a crush. And they sometimes will insist that person has a crush even if they say that they do not have a crush and simply want to be friends. And after awhile it can get to your head and feel like the only opinion that matters.
7. They assume this person is someone who you know/you regularly see in real life. In every quiz I took they asked at least one question that I could not answer because the plush I was using for all of these is someone I only know online. Specifically, it was some variant of "how often do you stare at them?" I understand this is a defining part of having a crush for most people, but I was rarely even given the option to say that this person and I are not regularly in the same room. Okay, let's say a teen girl gets a crush on a boy on from another school during like a sports game. She cannot answer this particular question truthfully either because imagining how often you'd stare at someone you met once if you were regularly in the same room with accuracy is not easy.
8. They assume you have the biggest crush, as anything less could lead to negative results from the quiz. Because I do not experience the same feelings, sometimes answering these questions truthfully is very difficult because my options are usually like this:
Q. If your crush asked you to hang out, how would you react?
OMG YES YES YES!!!
Well, we hang out all the time (as friends) so this is just a normal Tuesday for us.
I haven't even introduced myself to this person so they literally cannot ask me to hang out.
I'd make an excuse to not go.
And none of this is even close to how I feel about my plush. Or even about my friends. I cannot answer this question with 100% honesty. Legitimately, I've felt like I've gotten "you don't have a crush" results for the simple reason that I am not head over heals for my plush. Often it was either "every thought in my mind is of them" or "they're alright, I guess." But you can see how only the first option, with the most intense feelings, suggests that you have a crush. The other three options are either completely neutral feelings or suggest dislike. And since that's what people are taking this quiz to figure out, almost everyone is going to pick the first option. It might as well be just "would you hang out with your crush if they asked you, yes or no?"
So these quizzes are built on the assumption that you do, in fact, have a crush. You just want those feelings validated.
"Okay that's great Snowy, but what results did you get from these quizzes as an aromantic?"
Well, I didn't write down exact numbers since there were so many quizzes I took over about an eight month period. Some of them I took multiple times months apart and got different results. But I'd say about 60% said I had a crush, or was likely to have a crush. And 40% said I did not, or it wasn't likely to be a crush.
The funny part?
When I took some of those I didn't have a plush on anyone at the time. I was just using how I felt platonically about a close friend as the "crush." And while this did sway the results, it was not by much. Turning it more into a 50/50 chance.
No plush, no sexual attraction, they are JUST my friend. And yet, the results screen tells me I am deeply in love with them about half of the time.
When I said they assume you do have a crush, I really meant it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally, I have actually made my own "do I have a crush" quiz that hopefully avoids doing everything I just talked about. No assumptions about the person you may have feelings for, no assumptions about your friends, no assumptions about you, who you are, or why you are taking it in the first place.
It's password locked since I'd like to get results strictly from people who find this post on Tumblr (for now). So type in this word when prompted:
conformity
Thank you for reading all the way to the end. I spent a long time with all the research and writing so it means a lot to me. 💖
So you're a pokemon fan? Favorite mega evolution that isn't Absol, Ampharos, Altaria, Audino, Beedrill, Blaziken, both Charizards, Garchomp, Gardevoir, Lucario, Mawile, Metagross, both Mewtwos, or Rayquaza? Who do you think should get a mega that isn't Flygon because everyone says that? Do you play competitive? If so, singles or VGC? If either, favorite pokemon that isn't viable? Favorite type that isn't ghost, dark, dragon, steel, or fairy? Best weather? It's rain, isn't it? Do you tolerate tera or is it the bane of your existence? Best gen? Gen 8 sucks, doesn't it? Ever tried Radical Red? Because you should. Also I need your favorite paradox pokemon NOW (mine is Walking Wake)
from @rhode-island-empire
fav mega is camerupt. partly bc i love the regular mon too, but like the mega is so cute and friend shaped and they gave it an M on it's head like for team magma aughhhh i love it!!
i think pyroar deserves a mega. more gen 6 mons in general should've got one, but pyroar was practically made to be lysandre's ace, or perhaps his legends za equivalent
i don't play competitive </3 but i've watched some stuff on vgc so i think it's cool. and my fav unviable mon is wynaut, bc i think it's hilarious that it was banned in gsc lmao
poison is my absolute no1 fav type 💜💜 (you could probably guess that from my name lol)
yeah rain is definitely best weather, both gameplay wise and aesthetic wise
idm tera, it's less interesting but more balanced than the previous gimmicks. i just wish tera shards weren't so hard to grind for 💔
fav gen for me constantly switches between 5 and 7, but atm it's 5 :3
gen 8 is mid to me, but i wouldn't say it sucks. there were a few mon designs i love plus legends arceus was pretty unique and a good step into open world, especially considering how rushed pokémon games are. bdsp was an EMBARRASSMENT though
i have not tried radical red yet, i'm probably not good enough for it lmao it took me like 30 tries to beat pokerogue classic mode </3
fav paradox mon is iron valiant. nonbinary warrior robot with arm blades it can turn into a double sided laser sword?? it's literally so FUCKIN COOL 💖
I'm currently in the process of drawing my Grim Reaper OC with King Candy, and while I take a break from that, I figured I'd just put down all of the things I came up with while researching and drawing:
My Grim Reaper OC will be simply named "Death" (full name is The Angel of Death). I tried to come up with some candy-themed name since they're mostly in Sugar Rush according to some lore, but in the end, I realized there was no need for them to disguise themselves.
Death is nonbinary and genderfluid, and they go by any pronoun (He/She/They/It). This is because their appearance drastically changes whenever they enter a specific arcade game. For example, Death in Sugar Rush is a feminine saint-like figure dressed in various sweets that were made as offerings to the dead or eaten during funerals.
They are very much a psychopomp, guiding dead characters or players back to their respective games after losing a life. With unplugged games and the gameless, Death simply takes them to The Endgame, the Arcade's equivalent to the Underworld.
The Endgame is basically a more simplified take on Helheim from Norse Mythology. Unlike the Christian Heaven or Hell or any similar afterlife, it is not a place of reward or punishment but instead a place for the dead to congregate. Death, just like the Norse Goddess Hel, watches over the Endgame, keeping track of both the dead and the living.
Death's moral alignment is Chaotic Neutral. It does not matter if the deceased in question is a hero or a villain, it's all the same to them. With this mindset, they tend to be accepting toward anyone and everyone they meet. Personality-wise, they are, in TV Tropes terms, "Creepy Cute" and "Scary Good." Think Emily from Tim Burton's Corpse Bride and Trevor Henderson's Long Horse.
Death as a Reaper has the power of sensing one's aura. This aura is not visible to the eye but rather a physical feeling. The stronger the aura is, the more intense Death feels. When a character or player's aura is strong, the chance of them dying goes higher. In Turbo/King Candy's case, his aura is 100%. This ability makes Death extremely passionate (and obsessed) for King Candy.
Discovering someone whose aura is 100% is a rare sight. Usually, auras fluctuate between different players/characters between 20% to 80% (give or take). 100% is essentially a drug to Death. King Candy's aura emits so much energy that they are always needing a fix. Guess you can call it a... "Sugar Rush".
Now, here's where things get complicated: once Death feels one's aura, that feeling will not go away until they have reaped their soul. King Candy - Turbo - had been 100% since the RoadBlasters Incident. He should have died in his petty stunt to achieve popularity. He should have been another unplugged soul, for if he was, the insatiable, dreadful, wonderful hunger would finally cease. It's like smelling the aroma of a searing steak and never getting a taste. But alas, Death did not reap his soul.
Why did Death spare King Candy? The shorter, simpler answer is loneliness. The longer answer is that Turbo/King Candy is the closest thing to Death's equal. He did something so terribly taboo, so fatal, and he succeeded. Turbo had become a reaper of souls the very moment he invaded RoadBlasters.
I don't know if this counts as spoilers (Wreck-It-Ralph came out in 2012), but after his demise, King Candy finds himself in the Endgame and meets the Turbo Twins and RoadBlasters for the first time in over a decade. Vengeance ensues until Death, in their True Form, takes him down into their domain. His fate? Being Death's Favorite BoyToy for all eternity./j/silly
EDIT: Death does not come from an existing arcade game within the WIR Universe nor a fanmade one! They are a separate thing entirely, which gives them the ability to game hop without "Going Turbo." Does that make Death OP? Yes, because it's The Grim Reaper!
as someone from a non-english speaking country (germany), „queer“ is not a slur to me - we do have equivalents for f-got and d-ke, but not queer.
germans have actually integrated a lot of english words into our language, so much so there is a word for it: „denglish“ from the german word for german which is „deutsch“ and the word „english“, similar to the usamerican „spanglish“. this really shows how much we culturally and politically rely on mostly the usa (perhaps because a big part of germany was under us control after the end of ww2) and how much debate and especially ideas we import from overseas.
„queer“ has been widely introduced only in the last few years with the rise of lgbtqia+ culture wars. we even have a „queerbeauftragter“ (queer delegate) who is called that and advises the government on all issues lgb and t and i guess intersex too. its „queer community“, „queer party“ etc plastered also on ads in the cities.
since we have a different history with the word, my main issue is not the slur aspect, but that this „umbrella term“ is on one hand associated with lgb and t, even though these groups (while having a considerable overlap) have different needs and demands, but on the other hand also used for different groups like nonbinary identified or intersex people and even kink and in the worst case pedophiles because people use it as „not heteronormative“, which paradoxically can include heterosexual people if they are trans, intersex, and like i said in extreme cases even kink or pedophilia.
as a bisexual woman myself i struggle with the fact that any space where i might meet other women like me is now „queer“. if you dont open these spaces up to everyone who identifies as some flavour of „queer“, you are an exclusionist, conservative, regressive. even the liberal government we have enforces this.
this trend of grouping in everyone who doesnt meet „societal standards“ into one group does not stop there. another (non-english) term that has been popularised is „flinta“ which stands for: frauen lesben intersex nichtbinär trans asexuell (women lesbians intersex nonbinary trans and asexual). at my old university we had two toilets: flinta and - men.
do they not realise that this is just enforcing male as the default and heterosexuality as the norm? do they not realise that for both political advocacy and practical use these terms are useless? that they do not describe a coherent group? that if you dont know and youre questioning your gender or sexuality or dont want to label it (which; youre probably either bisexual or just gender non conforming in some way), you can just say you’re questioning?
i have little in common with most „queer“ people and im sick that this term is supposed to describe the community im a part of (lgb), and people associate queer with lgb (and t), but i dont identify with it at all, and on an objective level its just useless because it allows all sorts of more or less legitimate, different groups to attach themselves to the fight for lgb rights.
it's funny. the more i front the more i realise that neither transmasc nor transfem apply to me. i want to get rid of all of my--i don't know how else to word this--"gendered" characteristics. our voice - i want a flat, neutral, ambiguous pitch. our body shape - i want no curves, no broader shoulders and narrower hips, i want to be a flat rectangle. our body hair - none of that please, get that shit off of me. our genitals - also none of that please. i would maybe be fine with having something to feel pleasure with, but i don't like what we have currently and i don't want the cis-swapped equivalent either.
i guess the best word for me is neutrois. transneu. something like that. but at the same time - because the vast majority of our secondary sex characteristics are now "masculine" and i want to move away from them, i feel like transfem describes me more than transmasc. which i know some (usually perisex - that's a whole other issue) people take huuuge issue with because of course we should define transness by our AGAB, the thing we're trying to move away from as a marker of identity (that's sarcasm). but anyway.
i guess the exception to the above would be our body shape - we are fat and curvy and that gets us gendered as women a lot of the time. but for me the most dysphoria-inducing thing is the body hair, which is thicker and darker and FUCKING EVERYWHERE because of testosterone, to the point where i regularly daydream about laser therapy to get rid of it on my face so i don't have to deal with having fucking stubble all the time anymore. which i think is a very transfem experience, on top of all the other shit.
anyway being in a nonbinary body with mixed secondary sex characteristics is hard ✌️
(note: we are not intersex, i've just been learning a lot about intersex issues lately, especially the overlap between nonbinary and intersex experiences. we have PCOS and took testosterone for a number of years and now we're on birth control so like. a lot of mixed characteristics, is my point.)
i very strongly headcanon idia as nonbinary and my reasoning--not that i need a reason for a silly little headcanon, but in this case i do have one--is that in EN, lilia literally switches between they/them and he/him pronouns for gloomurai in his suitor suit vignette:
and i guess you could say he just isn't sure of his online friend's pronouns--but then in book 6 of the main story we learn that they've been chatting and gaming together for the past 2 years (and i'm pretty sure idia only ever uses he/him for muscle red). and in book 7 lilia once again uses they/them while clearly talking about gloomurai!
so yeah, i'm sure this is just a weird translation choice that EN made for some reason, but in my mind idia is a nonbinary guy who likes using he/they. i imagine that he generally doesn't bother telling people about his gender or pronouns because he's comfortable enough with he/him and doesn't wanna go through the annoying social interaction of explaining it, but one day he decided to silently put he/they on his discord bio or whatever equivalent he and muscle red chat through and lilia eventually noticed and started using both sets of pronouns!
#twisted wonderland#idia shroud#lilia vanrouge#i also think the people who like. follow gloomurai for his gaming content#(it's mentioned that gloomurai is famous in gaming circles and has fans who post articles about his cool gear sets and stuff)#might know they're nb because maybe idia casually mentions it on their blog#but they're not out to people at school because they literally just cannot be bothered#which honestly is basically the same way i am so maybe i'm projecting but who cares#okay sorry for blabbing in the tags of my own post lol i'll be quiet now
Zoaem (Paths Beyond)
I've always had a bit of a soft spot for lantern archons, so I'm pleased that their Remaster equivalents are the first things I get to tackled out of Monster Core. Zoaems, or ring archons, occupy the low-level minion niche on the archon org-chart. They aren't particularly bright, but they are trained in Religion, so they know their theology and the outer sphere beyond heaven's slopes. Their second skill is Acrobatics for flight and darting through an enemy's square. The third is interesting though - it's Intimidation. My instinct says a celestial use Diplomacy instead, and indeed that's what the lantern archon had as its third skill. My guess is that Paizo is rolling with how outright eldritch the new archons appear, so every single one of them excels at scaring people. There’s also that whole “be not afraid” thing from the Bible, which works so much better if Archons are terrifying.
Zoaems are the least uncanny archons, but they still have plenty of latitude to be eerie and weird. The default zoaem is a series of spinning, winged rings surrounding an inner light. An easy way to customize their appearances would be to vary light within them. The obvious approach would be to make the inner light a sun or a star, but anything which sheds light could work. A haunting or occult oriented zoaem could have one or several candles floating in their core. Another, who escorts souls to the Boneyard, may have ivory rings spinning around a luminous skull. Of course, there is also the classic - a giant unblinking floating eyeball that stare at all who pass.
After the serial killer Bartrum the Bloody escaped his sanitarium prison in Ustalav, a group of archons took matters into their own hands. The band tracked down the murderer, but he proved too much for them, slaying the divine host one by one. The final celestial standing was Elijah the Daring. The zoaem took the fight to Bartrum, rushing him with eye-beams blazing. Some how, the confrontation ended with the two merging together, creating a being with a mortal body, and rotating rings in place of a head. This creature, Bram the Bright, wanders Avistan trying to reconcile the conflicting impulses within its soul.
Legends say that in the Universe's early days, all ring archons were a single potent demigod who fractured themself to thaw unholy powers. The ring archons keep the birthplace of the original Zoaem secret, but make frequent pilgrimages there. The best way to find it is to follow the zoaem who bring blessings to their kin, the immobile bastion archons.
Ncuti the Jeweller (entrepreneurial nonbinary ring archon) wanders the streets of heavens shore with their extra dimensional shop. While they sell baubles of all types, Ncuti’s typecast itself with its speciality - it loves magic rings. They pay a premium for unique rings, both mundane and magical, and keep a bounty list of particularly infamous magic items from across the planes.
i have been thinking: if i have lost a very good friend because i am inconsistent and it’s because of family/personal crises (deaths, illness) and shit and it makes them feel like i don’t prioritize our friendship or them
it is very sad.
but also:
1. I fucked up because the man who is the equivalent to my grandfather in law in all but legal terms died and my dad seemed like he was fucking dying really fucking fast.
2. a lot of the times in the past? when i simply felt too fucking drained and couldn’t even fathom the idea of communicating with more people than i absolutely needed to? there is a very good chance that’s not me being a flaky bitch; that’s just fucking autism
3 (1a& 2a): my petty drunk side hopes that you learn that and feel bad for deciding i was a dick who didn’t take our friendship seriously, but i’m not going to tell you that because fuck i am so tired of broadcasting my flaws and you have said you feel like i only talk to you when bad shit is happening in my life, so the last thing i want to say when i broad a conversation is “sorrry i’ve failed you again. bad things happened in life.” you dig?
4. friend has said that he really only sees me as a girl and actually idfk maybe most of my mutuals see me as a girl. but in real life? the virginia woolf to my vita sackville west, jack, and katie-the-ukrianian-lesbian-formerly-known-as-katie-from-social-problems-class, and more people irl? they knew without me even saying anything that the body doesn’t match the mind/soul/heart inside. so i guess what i’m saying is maybe i’m better off because no matter how much i look up to and love this friend, no matter how much i value his friendship, they can’t see that. and so maybe that’s better off.
like idk it gets into this discussion of external perception and how it affects interpersonal relationships and personal realities and identities and possibly self esteem and/or consistency in cognition and how that effects a friendship or whatever
idk.
do you know what i’m talking about? do you?
am i a girl to you? just a girl?
it’s okay if i am, but i would like to know if you sense… the… otherness that i rationally know i should slap the “nonbinary” label on, but had existed for too long before that term for it to feel fitting.
what should i do here?
#actually asking for feedback#idk#big sads about friends but also i have been writing a lot about people who learned about concepts that apply to them too late and i’m#thinking about how that sort of thing works with my relationships
OC tag game
yoinking an open tag from @arendaes to talk about my Rogue Trader MC Crescentia, the Machiavellian nightmare woman that has been haunting my every thought
I don't have any art of her yet and I can't seem to get her right with any picrews so. no image for now. maybe I'll edit this and add the drawing I'm working on when I finish it
GENERAL
Name: Crescentia von Valancius Massimo af Scarus; previous surname lost to time and indifference
Alias: Rogue Trader, Emperor’s Chosen, Bearer of the Sacred Warrant of Trade, Shadowless Sun, Giver of Life, Scourge of Heretics, Cleanser of Janus, and so on and so forth ad nauseam
Gender: cis woman…? she’s never given her gender much thought. (a modern AU might see her playing around with that some more, but as things stand in canon, she’s kind of the equivalent of that “im probably nonbinary but i have a job so idrc about that rn” tweet. except, like. “im probably genderfucky but i am fucking under attack at all times forever so idrc about that rn” I guess.)
Age: 34
Spoken Language: Low Gothic, smatterings of other languages such as High Gothic and apparently Wulfen? she’s got a talent for pulling random knowledges & bits of trivia out of her sleeve, so.
Sexual Orientation: biromantic + demi-bisexual
Occupation: Sanctioned Psyker (might have become an Astropath if things had gone over differently—her telepathy is scary strong), Officer, Grand Strategist, Rogue Trader
FAVOURITE…
Colour: tie between royal purple and cobalt blue
Entertainment: books—so much so that I’d say Crescentia joins the “book club” Cassia and Heinrix have got going on—especially if they’re non-fiction. live music performances, after becoming Rogue Trader. also, and although I’m not sure if this counts as entertainment, per se: attending religious services, even if she has a complicated relationship with the Emperor and her own faith (or… complicated from the outside looking in, anyway, she doesn’t really notice the nuances of it).
Pastime: regicide… as in the chess-like board game, not as in killing kings LOL. collecting anything she deems interesting or valuable, bonus points if it’s artwork or jewelry. looooooong baths.
Food: any fruit; pastries of all kinds—both sweet and salty—as long as they’re light
Drink: dammassine (“an alcoholic beverage, that has a sweet herbal taste with a hint of almond”, quoth Warhammer Lexicanum because I don’t know enough about this setting to be able to answer this question with anything other than “amasec” LOL)
HAVE THEY…
Passed University: if going through psyker training at the Scholastica Psykana counts, yes; otherwise, no
Had Sex: yes
Had Sex in Public: no
Got Tattoos: I keep going back and forth on this, but for now, no
Got Piercings: no. she wears an ear cuff with a golden chain sometimes, but it’s one of those cuffs that latches on to the ear, not an earring.
Got Scarred: VERY MUCH SO, both due to backstory events (Shadow of Torment babyyy) & during the game proper. a couple of those she’s covered up with augmetics, but others have just remained as-is, albeit concealed underneath layers and layers of clothing so they’re not visible at first glance.
Had a Broken Heart: not sure, but probably not. she’s hard to get to emotionally.
ARE THEY…
A Cuddler: nope, quite the opposite in fact. she’s pretty touch-averse. there are only a handful of people in the whole galaxy she’d feel comfortable touching in a casual, affectionate manner, such as cuddling—Kibellah (her lover) & Jae (her bestie), plus a special case with Cassia and Abelard where Crescentia would be okay with, say, a casual friendly hug, but she’s not sure whether they would be okay with it. and she’s not about to ask either way, considering she doesn’t really crave touch all that badly anyway.
Scared Easily: not at all
Jealous Easily: oh ABSOLUTELY, she is very very possessive of what she considers “hers” and that possessiveness often manifests as becoming sick with jealousy at the drop of a hat. she hates the idea of whatever Belongs To Her—things, people, power, titles, planets, you name it—being taken from their rightful place (read: from her) and gets NASTY when she feels threatened in that respect
Trustworthy: to a degree…? she’ll keep her word as long as it doesn’t harm her to do so and as long as there isn’t a greater benefit to be found in not keeping her word, so. not really trustworthy. but also you can make yourself valuable enough to her that she’ll become trustworthy because it’s in her best interest to do so…?
FAMILY…
Sibling(s): who knows? who cares? unimportant, surely. (one brother who went on to become a Commissar.)
Parents: father a voidborn, mother a minor noble from an Imperial world who was cast out by her family. they were actually pretty good parents, even if Crescentia’s mother still kept a bit of that noble attitude about her and is part of the reason why Crescentia grew up feeling entitled to a greater lot in life, something more glorious and luxurious than the mediocrity she’d been apportioned. when her psyker powers manifested, they turned her in without complaint, but that was out of, like… self-preservation? and a very deep-set belief that they had to follow orders Or Else. neither of them exteriorised it, but losing their daughter like that gutted them to the point where it almost destroyed their relationship & both of them as people. doesn’t mean Crescentia saw that from their perspective or ever forgave them for it, mind you. she has never EVER come to terms with that bitterness that’s got a chokehold on her. she just adjusted her personality & her expectations accordingly and became much, much more cold and calculating than she already was.
so. you know. the love was there. it didn’t change anything. it might’ve made matters worse. but it was there.
Children: No… mos
Pets: none. she might want one, but she is not very good at taking care of. Anything.
---
as is always the case with my OC ramblings, if you read all of that you can summon me for difficult battles .
also open tagging anyone who'd like to give this a go, & please feel free to mention me in the post because I always love to read everyone's OC thoughts :3
#Maia speaks#OC: Crescentia#in my mind I regularly refer to her as ''Ianthe Lockedtomb 2: Better And/Or Worse!''#that's not REALLY true anymore (her character has changed in a lot of ways because I finally feel like I Get her & what she's about)#but she is still very much a Ianthelike in a myriad ways. often terrible and unpleasant#might do this one for Kaija too... I miss my other awful girlie. but alas I am in Crescentia Lockdown rn.#also I am currently doing Heinrix's romance with her as well just because I wanted to see what it was like#(would do more but. she doesn't recruit either of the xenos companions so she can't do their romances#+ can't do Jae's because while they work VERY well as friends I know Something happens in Jae's romance#that would make Crescentia toss her out of an airlock. 😔#+ I guess I could have done Cassia's but they don't click that way for me?#I guess I'll do another playthrough for those when the Adeptus Arbites companion comes out...)#so. Yeah. but I don't know if that romance is gonna be canon for her just yet. thonking many thoughts#feel like it might be a Kaimellia situation where it happens but it doesn't end well? but. we'll see.#honestly when it comes to Crescentia I am mostly just fixated on Cresbellah so everything else fades into the background 😅#sorry man. the Yuri Warriors win once more
On honorifics and related terms
So I've been considering trying to add a honorifics section to my neocities site, but that got me wondering about the more common (male/female) honorifics.
Is there a difference between Mister and Mr. and Miss and Ms.? Pronunciation wise, they're the same, so are Mister and Miss just long forms? But Miss still has the extra meaning of martial status, so maybe not?
Then there's Sir and Ma'am/Madam. What is the difference between these and the previous 2? In my experience, I've had them used interchangeably. I guess at least the short forms are abbreviations, so they're different in that sense.
Plus gentleman and lady. I guess they're more plural ("ladies and gentlemen"), in their usage. Though the singular forms can still be used, in certain situations.
I seeing like 3 different categories here, but I don't even really know what separates them. It's like, if I were to find nonbinary equivalents to these, do I need to find 3-4 different terms for each (not to mention the plural forms)? How would I even categorise them?
