Starter for @seaschef

He. Was. Starving.

Moaning, he dragged himself over to where Sanji sat. With all but tears in his eyes, he leaned against his friend, his savoir, his cook.

'S....An....Ji...." he tried to speak, so weary from hunger he could barely get the words out.

"I... think im dying..."

It had been a whole 3 hours from their last meal and he was about to say his last rights.

Koa was starving, she hadn't eaten properly in weeks. Desperate, she decided to steal from the only shop on the island. She promised herself she'd pay it back someday.

But despite her hunger, she hesitated for a moment. She had stolen from this shop before, and this hadn't turned out very well. Taking a deep breath, she finally snuck in, aiming for some bread, butter, and a bottle of water. Just enough to calm her rumbling stomach. But as she grabbed a piece of bread, the shopkeeper spotted her.

"You again!" he shouted, rushing towards her. Panicking, Koa took the piece of bread and quickly fled, only to bump into a tall man.

"Oof…" she let out as she landed on the ground. Koa looked up at the man before her and noticed his blonde bangs that were covering one of his eyes. Quickly, as she stared at the man, she grabbed the bread she had dropped and held it protectively to herself, afraid that this man might take her stolen goods away.

Slowly she got up, her eyes fixed on the stranger before her. Her own clothes were old and torn and way too big for her, and the dirt and scratches on her face showed the marks of life on the streets. A big difference from the man who wore a clean and fitting suit and looked much more well-groomed than she did.

Then she heard the shopkeeper's voice again and quickly fled the scene, while he yelled after her, "Stop! Stop her! That dirty thief stole my bread!”

Zeff raised an eyebrow at his son when he was approached to ask about the use of fish skin to staunch bleeding, he was half-tempted to scold his son for his attitude; but he stamped down that instinct as he watched Sanji with amusement.

"Come now, Eggplant, you know of my past" he reminded his protégé "I was on the seas for years before we met, I learned many old wives tales over the years"

He hurried over to the edge of the battlements when he saw the approaching ship. Blue eyes lighting up, expressing the emotion that his face was not permitted to. The main castle, where his older brother was suppose to be held. It had been so long since he had seen Sanji, and he wondered how much he had changed.

The interactions with the Straw Hat Pirates on the way had gotten him wondering just what his brother was like now, since they had mistaken them from afar. That meant there was not any scarring on Sanji's face, but he wondered if there were differences from the Sanji he remembered. He kicked off, using his boots to propel him safely across the sky towards the ship.

Eyes scanned the battlements and his lips twisted up when he saw the blond man from behind. "Look who it is!"

She was seated on the taffrail, feet dangling over the water. There was something so special about salt air from the sea when it got cold. It was strangely comforting. Memories splashed across her mind, projected before her into the expanse of night beyond the reach of the lights on the Sunny. A wistful smile stretched her lips. Behind her, she could sense a presence but chose not to yield to it by facing it just yet. Warmth grew closer. A soft sensation left her feeling . . . uncertain. Was there something in her hair? On her neck? A tingle blossomed into a full-blown shiver. Neela tipped back to stare at the perpetrator with wide eyes. The blank expression exploded into an elated grin. "Oh, SANJI!" One hand hovered above her hairline. What was that she felt? It was soft and velvety . . . like a petal. "What's up? Did you come for a hug?" unable to shake the sensation, she deftly plucked the object from her hair so that she could identify it. It was a flower. Delight and wonder rounded her mouth. Doe eyes of umber flickered back to him. "For me?" She asked, her voice reduced to a shy squeak.

"Ah! I've been resting!" Camie laughed as she placed down Sanji's order. The Strawhats were resting in the mermaid cafe for the moment and she had gotten some food and drinks together for them, of course it was going to be completely free. "Don't worry, Sharley doesn't let me work to hard."

She had already gotten scolded for skipping a few breaks in the last two weeks.

Jin just got by by the kindness of people and contracts to take care of. The more he traveled the main land, exiled and outlawed as he was, he longed for stability sometimes, for employ maybe. It was his only hope at stability.

But for now he needed this contract. Sadly once he snuck into the palace, he found himself to be the second there. Once he managed to enter the room of the target, he found another assassin standing over his target. Shit.

She smiled, his praise bringing color to her cheeks. She’d watch him cook countless times and each time she was in awe. His creations were art and she felt almost bad for eating the food he prepared. Seeing his passion and care for what he made only made his food taste better. It was a privilege to be able to enjoy his food.

Gods, she was being ridiculous, wasn’t she?

She blushed further, her own thoughts bringing the color in her cheeks about. She shrugged in answer to his question, but was quick to follow up with a real answer. “It relaxes me, helps me process whatever’s rattling around up here,” and she tapped her temple, getting a bit of flour in her hair.

“And… you’re always cooking for us, but wouldn’t it be nice if someone did it for you for once?”

He's brows rose upon learning that she'd not really even used the recipe, glancing back to the creation she'd whipped up with ease. Cooking without a recipe was actually much easier then baking since the later required more precision. It was why some people preferred one over the other. Baking was more like a science while cooking was an art. "Looks like you've got a talent for baking then, not many can digress from a recipe unless it's something they make all the time."

Shifting to lean against the counter his plans pressed against the smooth wood as he looked over what she'd already prepared, uttler relaxed since they were in the kitchen. It was one of the few places where the tension that would grow over the day could be soothed from his shoulders. Here he was at home, in his element.

"What made you want to bake if you don't mind me asking?" He'd have naturally been more than willing to make whatever she wanted, but he'd sensed that maybe being in the kitchen helped her in the same way it helped himself.

Robin smiled softly over to the chef at the offer, tipping her head back from the book she was studying. "That would be wonderful Sanji." She said softly, closing the book for a moment to readjust herself in the chair. Robin had gotten this book from their last port and was busy translating some of the ancient language to see if there was anything interesting hidden in the pages.

"And maybe one of those little coffee cakes you made earlier this morning?"
