Doc: Overall, not a bad introduction. Though I'm a little confused on why it seems like I'd just noticed myself, complaining about the ears and all, when it's also obvious from "the nutters" guy that I'd been around for quite awhile before then.

Quite looking forward to doing this with the next few episodes. I don't think we'll do every episode, just the key ones. But there's a lot of key ones. Oh and next ones we do will include screenshots. Thought about that a bit late for this one.

Doc: I have the same wish. What do you say we do it together? I've been meaning to get around to posting live blogging and commentary of a rewatch of my show (Doctor Who) but it's, frankly, more than a little unnerving. It's a lot easier to be brave when you're not going it alone.

I wish for plural (more specifically fictive) acceptance, so that I may post analyses and headcanons about myself in the fandom's main tags. I currently lack the courage to do so. I have a lot to say.

We will be going primarily through New Who, but also Old Who, the books (The Stone Rose is quite lovely, really a fun romp) and maybe even the mobile game. Iéna Situation / journal est une édition qui réunit de manière dé-hiérarchisée, non signée les contributions des participant·e·x·s du cycle Iéna Situation. À chacun·e·x a été proposé de prendre part librement. Aucun choix éditorial n’a été fait, autre que la contrainte du format A4 et du noir et blanc. 

Iéna Situation est un cycle de trois expositions et une résidence organisés par Data Rhei entre 2021 et 2023, une réflexion artistique et éthique reprenant à son compte certains axes de recherche philologique et poétique du romantisme d’Iéna. 

Au-delà des tropes classiques du romantisme (l’opposition au projet de rationalisation et de maîtrise du monde poussé par les Lumières, la lutte contre la destruction de notre environnement…), c’est le refus de l’idée de représentativité du langage, au cœur de la pensée de l’Athenaeum qui nous a incités à investiguer. En effet, dans la pensée d’Iéna, avec le refus de la correspondance des signes et des choses, le langage ne résorbe jamais l’interstice entre les subjectivités et l’univers, et fait place à l’autre comme point d’accès au monde. Alors, si le langage n’est pas encore performatif, il n’est pas non plus comme chez Marx, le simple symptôme de l’organisation sociale. Il porte en lui l’idée de sa fluidité, de son pouvoir de transformation du monde et d’un pouvoir utopique qui ne réside pas dans l’efficacité de la communication, mais dans la perspective d’une altérité comme interface avec le monde. 

Pour autant, Iéna Situation cherche avant tout à se débarrasser de certaines parties de la pensée de l’Athenaeum. Et particulièrement de la transcendance avec tout ce qu’elle implique comme oppression et violence exercée à l’autre. Ainsi, Iéna Situation tend à développer un romantisme immanentiste — qui refuse de penser qu’il existe des idées universelles et éternelles, et qui donne toute la place à ce qui est ici et maintenant, aux relations que nous entretenons. Ainsi, au fragment romantique, qui selon les mots de Lacoue-Labarthe et Nancy dans L’Absolu littéraire : Théorie de la littérature du romantisme allemand, est « totalement détaché du monde environnant, et clos sur lui-même comme un hérisson » ; qui voulait rencontrer l’éternité en niant le monde, Iéna Situation souhaite en substituer un autre : parole d’un sujet en rapport avec les autres, qui ne cherche autre chose que de se dire, de se dire pour l’autre.

Pour cela, au cours des différents volets du cycle, nous avons invité des artiste·x·s à réfléchir avec nous, à créer ensemble de multiples manières, en abordant différents volets de la pensée d’Iéna : comment faire communauté à partir de fragments et de singularités autodéterminées ? Peut-on imaginer des divinités immanentes ? Penser l’altérité à travers l’espace qui nous sépare et le respect que cela impose ? Y a-t-il la place pour un romantisme sans les idées de nature ou de culture, au-delà des concepts de matière et d’esprit ? Pour ce faire, Iéna Situation veut mettre à profit la dimension utopique d’une création qui a pour but l’expression et la valorisation des sujets ; sans voir les sujets comme des récepteurs de la transcendance, mais plutôt comme des sujets sans autre enjeu que la présence. Comment en somme, penser une création orientée vers l’hospitalité, le respect et l’amour de l’altérité ?

Ce journal s’inscrit dans la lignée de ces recherches. Elle réunit des contributions diverses et variées, non relues, non éditées et non transformées, dans une simple enveloppe.
