A Király utca jut eszembe erről a képről, meg hogy valamikor mennyire szerettem ott lakni. A világ közepének éreztem. Már nem is tudom, hol volt egészen hasonló sarok, mint az indító képen, annyi szépség tűnt el a belső kerületekben. Ahogy mondani szoktam, Budapest még a lepukkantságában is hordoz egy időtlen szépséget. Na az pont most tűnik el.

Az Asbóth utca környéke, és onnan befele a Madách felé külön kedvencem a lekerekített sarkú házakkal. Én is hasonlóban nőttem fel, art deco díszletek között.

Van olyan változás, amit még lebuktat a gugli maps, mert egyik szög még 2021, a másik már 2024, optika vs romkocsma.

Imádom a kerek falakhoz igazodó ablakokat.

Kár, hogy az a szürke godzilla bepofátlankodik. Értem, hogy az építész próbált nem túl környezetidegen épületet tervezni, de a régi hátak között olyan, mint egy csővázas 3D nyomtatott hátizsák dédapáink megörökölt vulkánfiber bőröndjei között. És átvágja, megerőszakolja, derékba töri a Gozsdu egységét.

Harminc év alatt sokat változott a Király utca ezen a részen is. A nagykörút sarkán a valamikori Halló önkiszolgálóból lett már minden, a Pizza Hut-tól a kisközérten át a patikáig. A Halló másik üzlete pont szemközt volt, ott most a KFC és a Starbucks van. (Ha jól tévedek, az egyik olyan menzás-sorbanállós féle volt konyhás nénikkel, a másik meg á la carte.)

A Teréz templommal átellenben volt egy nagyon jó textilbolt (most OTP), ahol kishibás ruházati cikkeket is árultak nevetségesen olcsón. Az Office Depot sarkán volt a Gólya Áruház, ahol fillérekért lehetett baba- és gyerekruhákhoz jutni. A következő sarkon egy hatalmas helyiségben háztartási gépeket meg egyéb tartós fogyasztási cikkeket lehetett kapni baromi olcsón, főleg a határon vámvizsgálaton fennakadt cuccokat. Ez egy állami bolt volt. A Vasvári sarkán állt az egyik kedvenc házam a környéken, amit lebontottak, és egy tök jellegtelen ház épült a helyén (és nem ez az egy ház járt így arrafelé). Persze volt olyan épület, aminek jót tett az újraépítés.

(Sajnos pont a kedvenc részleteket takarja az állványzat.)

A Gozsdu udvar a kedvenc helyem volt Erzsébetvárosban, míg be nem kebelezte a romkocsma őrület. Nagy részét valamikor a Filmgyár jelmezraktárai foglalták el, de volt ott a kalapostól az ötvösig minden. Imádtam végigmenni az egymásba nyíló udvarokon, egy kis csendsziget volt az az átjáró a belváros forgatagában, a köveken macskák napoztak. Úgy gondoltam rá, mint időkapura, amin ha átmegyek, egy másik korban vagy dimenzióban találom magam. (Nem így lett). A filmesek is imádták, mint látványelemet, több reklámban és mozifilmben is szerepelt.

Aztán a kis boltok sorra eltűntek a Kőnig strasszéból, és mindenhol lakberendezési bemutatótermek létesültek. Aztán megnyílt az első romkocsma, és a környék elesett. Pedig olyan csöndes volt az a rész, mint az Égigérő fűben a Paripa utca 4. számú gangos ház udvara.

Nem tudom, a bulituristáknak feltűnik-e, hogy ha a Dob utcából a kiskörút felé nézünk, pont befigyel a Szabadságszobor. Mindig szerettem volna lefotózni, de az automatika mindig kivilágosította a szobrot az ég háttere előtt a sötét házsorok mögött, úgyhogy gyakorlatilag "eltűnt". Néha nem értem a boltosok szavát, mert nem értenek magyarul. És azt sem értem, a szuvenírboltokban miért árulnak Sissit, mint "magyar" csecsebecsét. Erzsébet egy bajor hercegnő volt, és végül osztrák uralkodófeleség lett. Nyilván a külföldiek nem tudják, milyen érzékeny a magyar történelem viszonya a Habsburg házzal. De hogy a boltosok se? Vagy mindegy, csak vegyék?

És most végigmegyek a King Street-en, a világon bárhol lehetne. Már nem tudom, mitől Budapest.
