When I first glanced at the headline about Ukraine's drone attack on Russian military planes I thought it was similar to times in the past when they took out two or three planes at Russian bases. But when I saw all the details, it was more like: "HOLY FUCK!"

Ukraine not only took out a bunch of Russia's most expensive military aircraft, but they did it in an ingenious and painstaking way. Planning for this apparently began in late 2023.

It's hard to exaggerate the sheer audacity - or ingenuity - that went into Ukraine's countrywide assault on Russia's air force. We cannot possibly verify Ukrainian claims that the attacks resulted in $7bn (£5.2bn) of damage, but it's clear that "Operation Spider's Web" was, at the very least, a spectacular propaganda coup. Ukrainians are already comparing it with other notable military successes since Russia's full-scale invasion, including the sinking of the flagship of Russia's Black Sea fleet, the Moskva, and the bombing of the Kerch Bridge, both in 2022, as well as a missile attack on Sevastopol harbour the following year. Judging by details leaked to the media by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the latest operation is the most elaborate achievement so far. In an operation said to have taken 18 months to prepare, scores of small drones were smuggled into Russia, stored in special compartments aboard freight trucks, driven to at least four separate locations, thousands of miles apart, and launched remotely towards nearby airbases.

The drones were launched inside Russia from modified cargo containers on trucks. The destroyed aircraft included those used to launch missiles against Ukrainian civilians.

"These strategic bombers are capable of launching long-range strikes against us," he said. "There are only 120 of them and we struck 40. That's an incredible figure." It is hard to assess the damage, but Ukrainian military blogger Oleksandr Kovalenko says that even if the bombers, and command and control aircraft were not destroyed, the impact is enormous. "The extent of the damage is such that the Russian military-industrial complex, in its current state, is unlikely to be able to restore them in the near future," he wrote on his Telegram channel. The strategic missile-carrying bombers in question, the Tu-95, Tu-22, and Tu-160 are, he said, no longer in production. Repairing them will be difficult, replacing them impossible.

Russia likes to think it is invincible. These successful attacks, as far north as the Kola Peninsula and as far east as south central Siberia, are a psychological blow as well as a military one to Russians.

Ukrainian defence journalist Illia Ponomarenko, posting on X, puts it another way, with a pointed reference to President Volodymyr Zelensky's infamous Oval office encounter with Donald Trump. "This is what happens when a proud nation under attack doesn't listen to all those: 'Ukraine has only six months left'. 'You have no cards'. 'Just surrender for peace, Russia cannot lose'." Even more pithy was a tweet from the quarterly Business Ukraine journal, which proudly proclaimed "It turns out Ukraine does have some cards after all. Today Zelensky played the King of Drones."

Привет! Есть советы для начинающих писателей? ...или для стеснительных писателей, ещё пока сомневающихся в качестве своего творчества?

Хехе, неожиданно, но постараюсь что-нибудь ответить.

Честно, единственное, что могу уверенно сказать - сомнения, твой злейший враг. Если кажется, что строки получаются как-то не очень, то это просто вопрос времени. А вот сомнения прочь! Они стопорят развитие.

Чтобы быть хорошим писателем, нужно писать! А ещё очень хорошо читать, много и не просто следя за сюжетом, но и анализируя приёмы авторов. За это люблю около классическую (речь сейчас идёт про примерно советские времена) русскую литературу. Часто переведённые книги косноязычны, ведь редкий переводчик сам по себе ещё и писатель, а большинство к тому же сохраняют родную структура текста (что на английском хорошо, на русском пресно), поэтому в переведённых книгах редко можно найти красивые описания (хотя я и люблю творчество Муркока, Желязны, Саймака, Вагнера и прочих, и не говорю, что их читать нельзя, ведь не смотря ни на что, и там есть интересные решения). В общем, советую порыться в русской литературе, выбрать книгу, которая понравится лично вам и по ходу сюжета подмечать интересные приёмы (причём совсем необязательно, чтобы книги считались признанный классикой, главное чтобы вам они нравились). Выписывать необязательно, ведь при должном количестве, качество нарабатывается.

Ну и публиковать, конечно же публиковать. Но перёд этим вычитывать. Есть у меня для вычитки небольшой лайфхак: вычитываю 1 раз примерно через неделю, потом через пару дней закидываю текст в нейронку для озвучки, а потом ещё через недельку пробегаюсь по тексту "по диагонали".

Ну а публикация очень хорошо стимулирует дисциплину. Пока писала в стол и боялась выкладывать, написала за 4 месяца 1 главу, потом выложила, дело пошло быстрее.

Ну а ещё, тут уже пошла чисто вкусовщина, автору д��лжно быть что сказать. Ни разу не видела чтобы человек пришёл с мыслью: "Хочу создать что-нибудь прикольное, чтобы всем понравилось. Вот знаешь (название произведения)? Вот такое хочу. Круто же? Но нет мысли о чём писать. А оформление есть и тема крутая. Я идею как-нибудь потом придумаю." Вообще, любое творчество, которое продолжается, складывается из желания что-то сказать. Думаю, если уже что-то пишете, то это самое желание уже есть. Ну а для тех, кто хочет писать, но сказать нечего, советую посмотреть вокруг. Мир интересный, мир многогранный, в мире так много тем, которые можно обсудить, но пока не с кем, выписывайте эти темы в отдельный файл/блокнот. Не ищите идею о чём писать, живите так, чтобы было интересно и тогда идея сама вас найдёт.

Вариант с набрасыванием интересных идей вообще хорош: как только пришла какая-то мысль, в моменте запишите её с краткими пояснениями, потом вернитесь через какое-то время к списочку идей, распишите подробнее и выберите те, о которых можете сказать уже сейчас, которые подходят под сюжет.

А ещё хорошо изучать психологию, социологию и логику (можно ещё принципы анализа данных, но тут уже тяжко самостоятельно без подготовки, а подготовка это куча матана), чтобы как раз таки замечать приёмы автора (если хотитите, вопросы всегда открыты, расскажу ещё о какой-нибудь теме или конспекты с "Источниками и литературой" отрою). В итоге всё сходится к тому, что чем больше литературы прочтёшь и чем больше строк напишешь, тем больше будет понимание, что да как делать. Главное, если уж хотите писать, используйте нейронку только как помощника в редактуре, но не рерайтера. Не важно, что она пишет красивее, лучше текст корявенький но свой, чем красивый но её. Лучше переписать своё раз сто, чем сразу получить красивое и не понять, как же мысли сформулировать.

Russian General Charged With Chemical Weapons Use In Ukraine Killed In Blast Claimed By Kyiv

A high-ranking officer in charge of Russia's Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Defense Forces (RKhBZ) has been killed in an explosion in Moscow that sources told RFE/RL was carried out by Ukrainian intelligence operatives. Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov and his assistant were killed by a bomb concealed in a scooter outside the entrance of a Moscow building early on December 17, Russia's Investigative Committee said in a statement. Kirillov, 54, is the highest-level Russian military officer to be killed in an apparent assassination since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. While no individual or group officially claimed responsibility for the killing, a source at Ukraine’s SBU security service told RFE/RL that the blast was the result of a special operation by the SBU.

Earlier this year the UK had imposed sanctions on Kirillov for his use of chemical weapons.

Ukrainian agents are apparently able to operate in the middle of Moscow.

Russian Gen. Igor Kirillov had been in charge of using chemical weapons in Ukraine in violation if international law. Such weapons had been banned in warfare since the aftermath of World War I. Apparently Russia has used chemical weapons over 4,800 times in Ukraine. Arguably this makes Putin's Russia worse than Nazi Germany in this regard.

Холли присмотрелась повнимательнее и заметила, что один из ящиков стола заперт на ключ. Однако простой замок не стал для неё особым препятствием, и Холли легко его взломала. Внутри она нашла записную книжку, на обложке которой была нарисована вишня

- Интересно, это совпадение или нет? Посмотрим, поведает ли эта записная книжка о какие-нибудь тайнах

Холли открыла книжку, внутри которой оказалось много написанного красивым женским почерком заметок, и начала читать

"День 1

Я очнулась вся в ранах и крови, причём я даже не уверена, что это моя кровь. Очевидно, я была пассажиром на самолёте, который потерпел крушение. Видимо меня чем-то ударило по голове, потому что я не могу ничего вспомнить, даже как меня зовут. Впрочем, жаловаться не приходится, потому что кажется больше никто не выжил. Вокруг меня одни трупы. Я нашла рядом с собой эту записную книжку с ручкой и решила записывать всё, что со мной происходит. Мало ли, вдруг у меня случится ещё один провал в памяти. Я не знаю где я, но вокруг лес и ни следа цивилизации. Интересно, нас уже ищут? Или лучше самой озаботиться своим спасением?

День 2

Я проголодалась и решила заняться поисками еды. В самолёте же где-то хранят еду, может быть там что-то ещё осталось. Моё место находилось неподалёку от кабины пилота, и я решила пройтись до хвоста самолёта, посмотреть чем можно поживиться. Так я наткнулась на ещё одного выжившего пассажира. Это была молодая девушка по имени Лора. Лора была на девятом месяце беременности, и её ребёнок не пострадал во время аварии, но к сожалению ноги девушки были переломаны, и ходить она не может. Я не знаю чем ей помочь, я лишь надеюсь, что помощь скоро придёт. К счастью, я нашла запасы продовольствия, которые оставались в самолёте, кое-что из этого ещё можно есть. Я поделилась едой с Лорой и пообещала за ней присматривать

День 6

Запасы еды закончились, а помощи всё нет. Сидеть на месте бессмысленно, надо хотя бы попытаться найти людей. Но я не могу оставить Лору, без меня она погибнет вместе с ребёнком. Если бы не она, я бы уже давно ушла в лес прочь от этого самолёта. Н��до что-то придумать

День 7

Этой ночью со мной случилось что-то необъяснимое. Я проснулась от нестерпимого голода. Рядом со мной спала Лора, я смотрела на неё, а затем... я взяла её ноги и положила себе в рот. Я начала проглатывать её, даже не понимая, что я делаю. Очень быстро я проглотила ноги Лоры и перешла к её животу. Здесь мне пришлось поднапрячься, но вскоре и живот Лоры исчез у меня во рту. Проглотить остальное уже не составило труда, и вскоре Лора целиком оказалась у меня в животе, даже не проснувшись. Я даже не знала, что я так умею. Чувство голода исчезло, и я снова заснула. Утром я проснулась от криков Лоры из моего живота. Тем не менее мне удалось успокоить её и сказать, что это для её же блага. На удивление, мы обе больше не были голодны. Я смогла встать и ощутила весь огромный вес моего живота, внутри которого находилась беременная девушка, и всё же при этом я могла ходить. Кажется, теперь мне ничего не мешает отправиться искать людей

День 14

Лора родила ребёнка у меня в животе. Пожалуй, это единственная хорошая новость за последнее время. Я по-прежнему хожу по лесу в поисках людей, но пока безрезультатно. Иногда я хожу кругами и возвращаюсь к самолёту. К счастью, голода я всё ещё не чувствую. Возможно это из-за того, что весь мой желудок занят Лорой, и мой организм принимает её за еду. Кстати, Лора и сама не просит о еде. Почему - это для меня загадка. Кажется, она ��огла бы оставаться жить в моём животе без ущерба для нас обоих

День 27

Кажется, мои скитания наконец-то закончились. Я мылась в озере, когда увидела в лесу какое-то движение. Я испугалась, что это может быть какое-то животное и спряталась, но потом увидела, что это люди в спецодежде, наверное поисковый отряд. Сначала я обрадовалась и решила побежать к ним навстречу, но потом подумала, что эти люди могут быть кем угодно. К тому же мне нужно будет как-то объяснить, почему в моём животе находятся девушка с ребёнком. Поэтому я решила проследить за ними и посмотреть куда они пойдут дальше. Я следовала по стопам этого отряда, и в итоге они вывели меня к какому-то городку. Я не решилась сразу выходить к людям, но успела прочитать на указателях название города Орион"

I shared the food with Laura and promised to keep an eye on her.

Day 6

Food supplies have run out, but there is still no help. It's pointless to sit still, we should at least try to find people. But I can't leave Laura, she'll die without me, along with the baby. If it wasn't for her, I would have gone into the woods long ago, away from that plane. We need to figure something out.

Sometimes I walk in circles and come back to the plane. Fortunately, I still don't feel hungry. Perhaps this is due to the fact that my entire belly is occupied with Laura, and my body takes her for food. By the way, Laura doesn't ask for food herself. Why is a mystery to me. It seems like she could stay alive in my belly without harming both of us.

It seems that my wanderings are finally over. I was washing in the lake when I saw some movement in the woods. I was afraid it might be some kind of animal and hid, but then I saw that they were people in riot gear, probably a search party. At first, I was overjoyed and decided to run towards them, but then I thought that these people could be anyone. In addition, I will need to somehow explain why there is a girl with a child in my belly. So I decided to follow them and see where they go next. I followed in the footsteps of this group, and eventually they led me to a town. I didn't dare go out to people right away, but I managed to read the name of the city of Orion on the signs."

Germany has had enough and is letting Ukraine use long range missiles

The German chancellor has said that Germany, along with Ukraine’s other main western supporters, will remove range restrictions on weapons delivered to Kyiv for the first time, to enable it to defend itself against Russia. Friedrich Merz said Germany, Britain, France and the US had lifted the restrictions to enable Ukraine to be better able to hit military targets on Russian territory. “There are no longer any range restrictions on weapons delivered to Ukraine – neither by the British, nor by the French, nor by us, nor by the Americans,” he said on Monday, following Russia’s largest drone attack on Ukraine of the war to date. “This means that Ukraine can now defend itself, for example, by attacking military positions in Russia … with very few exceptions, it didn’t do that until recently. It can now do that.”

GOOD.

Russia has been the clear aggressor from the start and Ukraine needs to defend itself to the fullest.

I don't know how far long range missiles go, but it would be great to see Ukraine take out the rail connection between Russia and North Korea. I'm sure Ukrainian Military Intelligence (ГУР) already has some good targets in mind.

Ukraine is inflicting heavy damage on Russia's military even now. It blew up a Russian military train in spectacular fashion in the Russian occupied Ukrainian region of Zaporizhia.

The clearest way to peace is to defeat Russia. Putin doesn't want peace, he wants Ukraine. He's a psychopath who won't stop until somebody stops him. There needs to be a clear tangible message, once and for all, that he can't have it his way.

And an end to the conflict is in the best interests of Russians. Russian losses are approaching 1,000,000.

The war really will end 24 hours after the Russian invasion of Ukraine ends.

до-сих пор не придумала что делать с работой. с одной стороны, я не прочь окунуться во что-то новое и опробовать свои силы, а с другой стороны - жесть как хочется отдохнуть от учёбы, от людей и посвятить себя своим хобби (дуракаваляние). опять же, страшно, что не справлюсь. страшно, что будет сложно. понимаю, что через страхи нужно переступать и страшно может быть лишь первое время, но я так люблю и ценю свою зону комфорта, что не хочу менять её на что-то ещё, но может быть когда-то....

A number of countries in the global South give Russia a mulligan because they fail to recognize that even though Russia didn't have colonies in Africa, South & Southeast Asia, or Latin America, it was indeed a classic colonial power. Russia's colonies were in Eastern Europe and Central Asia and the brutality it exercised in those regions was not that different from what Western European powers did in the developing world. There was genocide, economic exploitation, and political repression. Ukraine was under Russian/Soviet control longer than India and Nigeria combined were under British rule.

Putin is trying to revive Russian colonialism as an alternative to actually modernizing Russia. Russian troops famously steel toilets from Ukraine largely because almost a quarter of rural Russians still depend on outhouses.

Russia is largely a feudal society where Putin is the tsar, the oligarchs are the boyars, and the bulk of the impoverished population are the equivalent of serfs.

Aaah, thank you so much for the question!💕🙏😭 Like almost all my obsessions, it all started with a joke:

Batman is always about injustice, corruption, abuse of power and the greed of Gotham as an environment that breeds mentally ill, aggressive, selfish and antisocial people. And here in this noir dirt, blood, meat and injustice, my silly puppy girlfriend! Betty's entire image is built on the fact that she is a naive cartoon sweet simpleton. No brains, but a kind pure heart. A rarity for Gotham. And let's be honest, if it weren't for her rich experience of traveling alone, her ability to adapt, sociability, positivity and this endless joy of existence, she simply would not be viable. I'm serious. She didn't even finish the 9th grade, never went to college.

And at first it was just fun...

Then I went into analyzing Wayne's relationships. Bruce has a taste for femme fatales, sexy hot tigresses who will play with him, break his heart and most likely cripple him. They are beautiful, independent, interesting and fun to be with. And, as Meladze will sing: «в общем сложится нелегко, дружба пламени с мотыльком» (in general, it will not be easy, the friendship of a flame with a moth)

Bruce deliberately chooses women who do not want to recognize him behind the mask, or are not ready to sacrifice their interests for him.

And although I love Selina as a character, she is not the woman who can give Bruce a resource of trust and reliability.

Betty is the most gentle and loving partner, a loyal friend and a wonderful mother. She is the support and protection that Bruce needs, and a crazy enough free emotional bomb, with whom it is impossible to get bored.

Как и почти все мои одержимости, всё началось с шутки:

 Бетмен - это всегда про несправедливость, коррупцию, злоупотребление властью и алчность Готема как среды, порождающей психически нездоровых, агрессивных, эгоистичных и антисоциально настроенных людей. И тут в этой нуарной грязи, крови, мяса и несправедливости моя силли щеночек гёрфренд! Весь образ Бетти построен на том, что она наивная мультяшная милая простушка. Никаких мозгов, но доброе чистое сердце. Редкость для Готема. И будем честны, если бы не богатый опыт путешествий в одиночку, симпопушное личико, способности к адаптации, общительности, позитива и этой бесконечной радости от существования, она была бы просто не жизнеспособна. Я серьёзно. Она даже 9 класс не закончила, и никогда не училась в колледже.

И по началу это было просто весело…

А потом я ушла в анализ отношений Уэйна. У Брюса вкус на фамфаталь див, сексуальных горячих львиц-тигриц, которые поиграют с ним, разобьют сердце и скорее всего покалечат. Они красивы, независимы, с ними интересно и весело. И, как будет петь Меладзе: «в общем сложится нелегко, дружба пламени с мотыльком». 

Брюс сознательно выбирает женщин, которые не желают узнавать его за маской, либо не готовы пожертвовать своими интересами ради него. У него есть желание завести семью, но страх потерять всё это, пережить травму расставания с самым дорогим и любимым гонит его прочь от построения крепких супружеских уз. Но это не то, что я бы хотела дать Брюсу. Он постоянно ошибочно принимает похоть и влюблённость за любовь и трагично переживает разрыв с очередной злодейкой. Он выбирает страдать, так как не готов принять страх, сопряжённый с настоящей любовью. (По этой же причине, как я думаю, он не станет называть Альфреда отцом, а Дика сыном часто. Только в самые трогательные моменты. Хедканон такой.)

И хоть, я и люблю Селину как персонажа, она не та женщина, которая сможет дать Брюсу ресурс доверия и надёжности. Если два птенца со сломанными крыльями будут лететь, сцепившись друг с другом, они оба разобьются. 

Бетти максимально нежная и любящая партнёрша, верная подруга и прекрасная мать. Она та поддержка и защита, в которой Брюс нуждается, и достаточно крейзи свободная эмоциональная бомба, с которой невозможно заскучать.
