Мигрантов привлекли к административной ответственности, при этом часть из них находилась в стране нелегально. Однако, не менее любопытно, что информация о работодателе этих специалистов не была обнародована, хотя для организаций незаконное привлечение иностранцев может повлечь серьезные штрафы или приостановку деятельности на долгий срок.

Ficbook.net and Unauthorized Translations - An Update

Update to the update: some of the fics have been removed! 🎉 This happened before I finished this write-up even!

You may have seen this post last night about some CoD X Reader fics having unauthorized translations posted to the Russian site ficbook.net. @karlachismylife was monumental in helping me understand what's going on, and there's some explanation in that link from her POV as well.

Basically - multiple people have copied and translated fanfics into Russian and hosted them on ficbook.net. They're rough translations, some going as far as to use literal translations for turns of phrase. Most likely, they were run through a translation software (Google Translate or similar) and then roughly edited. (Juju mentioned that there is a subset of jobs in Russia where that is your job description. 😖)

Most of them have come from Tumblr posts, some from AO3. Very few had attribution beyond "tagging" the original author. (Aka - no consent was given for these translations.)

@syoddeye took the time to compile a list found here (google sheet). At the time of writing, 65 fics CoD x Reader fics were found - we know there's more but we only have so many knives in a day. (Sy did not look into slash fics either.)

Authors that have been tagged in the comments: I'm sorry you found out this way. I wanted to tell you in person, but given Tumblr's likelihood of thinking I was spamming you, I felt that this was the best option to alert you, provide you with options, and let you determine how you wish to move forward.

So what can be done?

If you already have an account, please report the fics! I'm told that spamming reports gets it taken down. Also consider messaging the author and ask them to remove them - they do not have the author's consent to publish them.

If you want to make an account and report the linked fics, you can. I have chosen not to, because I don't want to give Ficbook any extra support I otherwise might by doing so (clicks, ad views, account numbers).

If the author does not have closed comments (or you have an account), you can leave a comment on the fic.

Finally - check in on your author friends that are on that list. It's devastating to find out your work has been plagiarized, translated and hosted somewhere else without your consent. Reblog their work, share comments, hype them up!

A couple of notes: (Juju correct me if I've fucked any of this up 💚)

The posters are likely not making money off the unauthorized translations. The website and their owners definitely are (ads, "premium features", promotion tools, etc.)

Ficbook.net is the biggest Russian language fanfiction platform - somewhat akin to AO3, but it doesn't have a great reputation within Russian circles because of the stealing and underhanded practices the owners use.

AO3 is banned in Russia, and Tumblr is one of the few places Russians can easily (aka without VPNs and Mirrors) read English version of fanfic.

CoD isn't the only fandom affected - there are dozens that have more posted, and we only scratched the surface in our list.

Finally, if you want to translate works, TALK TO THE AUTHOR. A lot of folks don't like having their work shared without their consent. Even if you feel like you are doing a good thing spreading it to a wider audience, YOU NEED THE AUTHOR'S CONSENT. If they've deleted their presence and their stories from hosting sites (tumblr, AO3, etc) - you don't get to pretend you're doing them a favor by reposting them. Respect their decisions.

Казино Констанцы.

История казино началась в 1880 году, вскоре после возвращения Добруджанского региона Румынии(тогда оно было деревянным). В 1889 году вследствие сильной грозы, большая часть здания была уничтожена. А в 1890 году началось новое строительство Казино, однако, место расположения было немного изменено. В 1903 году деревянный павильон был признан устаревшим и не отвечающим запросам растущего города.

Строительство каменного казино началось в 1904 году. Однако, первый подрядчик работал слишком медленно, и проект здания передали французскому архитектору Даниэлю Ренару. Тот отказался от румынского традиционного стиля и занялся смешением модных в этот момент стилей.  15 августа  1910 года оно было торжественно открыто в присутствии принца Фердинанда.

Здание выполнено в архитектурном стиле "Арт Нуво". В здании были бальный зал (благодаря чему в здании могли проводиться балы, организованные властями муниципалитета), два читальных зала, две игровые комнаты и терраса у моря. Здесь в 1914 году встречали семью русского императора – одну из его дочере��(Ольгу) сватали за румынского принца. Казино работало в режиме 24/7, было хорошо охраняемо и сюда было практически невозможно попасть без разрешения. Во время первой и второй Мировых войн здание служило как госпиталь. К сожалению, оно подверглось сильным бомбовым ударам.

В советское время Казино было восстановлено и использовалось для проведения заседаний местного совета.  В конце 80х было решено вернуть зданию первоначальное предназначение и переоборудовать его обратно в казино. Последний капитальный ремонт здесь был в 1988 году. Поддержание инфраструктуры казино в последние годы стало слишком дорогим, и в 1990 году здание было закрыто. Сейчас некогда великолепное здание с колоннами, мрамором и лепниной заброшено. На его восстановление нужны большие деньги, которых, к сожалению, власти Румынии пока не нашли. Но это не мешает туристам приезжать полюбоваться роскошным дворцом.

Constanta Casino.

The history of the casino began in 1880, shortly after the return of the Dobrogea region to Romania (at that time it was wooden). In 1889, due to a strong thunderstorm, most of the building was destroyed. And in 1890, a new construction of the Casino began, however, the location was slightly changed. In 1903, the wooden pavilion was considered outdated and did not meet the needs of the growing city.

The construction of the stone casino began in 1904. However, the first contractor worked too slowly, and the design of the building was given to the French architect Daniel Renard. He abandoned the traditional Romanian style and began to mix the styles that were fashionable at that time. On August 15, 1910, it was solemnly opened in the presence of Prince Ferdinand.

The building is made in the architectural style of "Art Nouveau". The building had a ballroom (which allowed the building to host balls organized by the municipal authorities), two reading rooms, two game rooms and a terrace by the sea. In 1914, the family of the Russian emperor was met here - one of his daughters (Olga) was wooed by a Romanian prince. The casino was open 24/7, was well guarded and it was almost impossible to get in without permission. During the First and Second World Wars, the building served as a hospital. Unfortunately, it was heavily bombed.

During the Soviet era, the Casino was restored and used for meetings of the local council. In the late 80s, it was decided to return the building to its original purpose and convert it back into a casino. The last major renovation was in 1988. Maintaining the casino infrastructure in recent years has become too expensive, and in 1990 the building was closed. Now the once magnificent building with columns, marble and stucco is abandoned. Its restoration requires a lot of money, which, unfortunately, the Romanian authorities have not yet found. But this does not stop tourists from coming to admire the luxurious palace.

Озеро Селигер ,Ни́ло-Столобе́нская пу́стынь (Ни́лова пу́стынь) — православный мужской монастырь, расположенный на острове Столо́бном и частично на полуострове Све́тлица. Имя монастырю было дано по преподобному Нилу Столобенскому, в честь которого и была основана обитель. Существует поверье, что преподобный Нил дал обет нележания, в связи с чем никогда не находился в горизонтальном состоянии. И даже спал, подвесив себя за плечи верёвками или на крюках, вбитых в стену. В 1555 году Нил преставился и был погребён на острове Столобном. В 1594 году с разрешения патриарха Иова была открыта монашеская обитель. Так началась история мужского монастыря Нило-Столобенской пустыни. Основателем монастыря был иеромонах Герман.
