Mario has been a fixture in my life since my fifth birthday. Mario 64 was my first Mario game actually! There's just something about his happy-go-lucky attitude and ability to persevere that I find inspiring. Comforting even. Originally, I wasn't even eyeing tumblr but my girlfriend at the time all the way back in the prehistoric age of 2014 suggested I make a blog. I decided to pick up Mario on a whim and have stuck with him(on & off mind you) since!

ɪꜱ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ?

Smut. Sometimes I find it to be cumbersome. I don't lead with this objection because sometimes it's over quickly but other times I'm just not into it. And angst! Angst exhausts me.

Action! I love seeing how characters react in tense situation(despite what I just said about angst). I also like a bit of fluff because c'mon, I'm sure we could all use some relief from the outside world. It's kinda scary.

I try to start off slow. What I mean is I look at what we got in canon, side content(comics,shows, etc) and reasonably merge the concepts where they can mesh. Then I draw conclusions from that! Other times when I'm doing research on certain aspects on Mario's character such as plumbing, being a physician, his italian heritage, etc I pick parts from it and mentally labor over how they apply to him. Really, it's like a little Mario calculator is in my head and I see how the info I'm gathering reacts with what I already know.

I'm having a little trouble remembering exactly how things started off between us but it's been so long! We've kept in contact outside of tumblr and things fell apart a few years ago when I was deep in my pit but we picked up right where we left off pretty much recently! He's a real nice guy and I'd do anything in my power to help him along! Give him a follow if you haven't already, you won't be disappointed! One thing I don't see too often on here is a coherent continuity. You. YoooooUuuuu. Not only is Johnny's mun a ray of sunshine, but they've breathed life into a veritably obscure character. We only see Johnny in Super Mario RPG and although the remake gave him a little more room to breath he's still a tad mysterious. This blog(and it's past iteration of course) gives him a much needed deep-dive without messing up the mysterious nature of the character.

Is he a shark? Is he a man who possessed a shark? Perhaps, a little of both? This question is asked constantly(silently) and it's amazing how they(the mun) plays with that subject. Stuff like this makes me take a second look at my portrayal of Mario to see how I can bring him to life.

It's been ages since I've had someone I can geek out with over Godzilla in it's entirety instead of "Oh the Showa era was peak, forget everything else" Or "Tristar is all I need" she knows a bit of everything and I definitely appreciate that! Ask her what her favorite monster is, you'll be surprised. Pretty deep cut too.

Role-play wise I love the labor she puts into word choice. Things don't often repeat too much nor does she ever use more than needed. The subtlety on display every time I get a reply from her is something I need to digest honestly. The images she projects are all-encompassing and I love seeing how she strings things together. It's inspiring, really.

Then there's the tags. Constant commentary on the thread and sometimes it's pretty funny. My personal favorite: when the Shadow Queen(a guest muse) was questioning Mario about his bulk you look at the tags and see "A question of inflatable humans"

She's capable of being serious and the humor she incorporates doesn't at all feel like a departure from her smooth style. I love it! Our discord rp's are a sight to see too but I'm not showing u.

Hey hey!

Just going off immediate aesthetic, you gave Daisy their tan back, kudos. Makes sense since they live in a desert but I digress. Your portrayal is killer because it's the attitude, spunk, and brightness all wrapped in one! The fact yours shares lineage with a fucking lion too is appropos given Daisy's general.....everything.

Seeing Daisy handle a crush so bashfully is unbelievably in character because I could definitely see them being unable to cohesively process liking someone as more than a friend. It's a relatable struggle because it's not always clear on how to make such a jump but that's why Jumpman is here.

Anyone? No? Okay...

Moving on, another nice touch for your blog: timezone clarification. It's really thoughtful to point out stuff like that because even though everyone here may speak english(or it just gets auto-translated, whatever) we may be speaking with someone halfway across the world. So, as I said great choice! I think I also posted my timezone, I'm not sure... if not I'll have to fix that.

Another thing, voice claim. Zendaya being a voice-claim for (your) Daisy is one of those things that honestly I had to chew on but I can see it working. Definitely a sort've sleeper-hit if that makes sense because applying Zendaya's voice to our thread lowkey fits.

Another longtime friend of mine. A dear one! We've fallen in and out of contact many times but like one of my previous heartfelt messages we always picked up where we left off.

I'll get into a personal slightly off-topic opinion for a second but it'll lead into what I'm going to say. Sympathetic villains: nowadays I believe that there are too many stories talking out of both sides of their mouths. They want the villain to be evil and cruel but at the same time "Oh he was pushed off his bike as a kid so it's okay". Yet, they continue to make people suffer despite being victims in their childhood.

Of course, I don't think this blog has that problem. This blog took one of the most sadistic, nihilistic people in fiction and harnessed that to make someone who is trying to undo his past actions but is still human in a way: he still gives way to his "old ways" but is always fighting to be better. That is infinitely better than what I mentioned. I love watching Julian's antics whether he's exploring a new frontier or simply fiddling with his machines to improve their design.

Also, this blog is what gave me the inspiration for a "running canon" on my own blog. Most threads that Julian have been through play into the overarching story being told. He'll reference his time with other muses in passing and it equips him to deal with newer ones meanwhile. I try to do this as well. It's intriguing really, given that Julian is a genius and he's about the data so it's natural his experiences would culminate. Sometimes I have to wonder what his true design is: his cities are well-taken care of and mostly protected, what else could he possibly be seeking? Power? More knowledge? I could technically put that question to the mun but where's the fun in that? I wanna watch. Seriously, don't answer that question.

Mario and Julian's interactions are, of course, a treat as well since they're practically polar opposites. One is bright-eyed and optimistic about the world at large. The other is jaded and pessimistic but they're both working towards the same thing in a way: a better tomorrow.

The icons are, of course, always a treat. Sometimes his tactical use of them can produce an emotional beat that is like no other, and other times they're hilarious. Here's my favorite

Simple graphics, stunning prose, and also a litany of appropriate guest characters to move the story along. The mun himself is also very knowledgeable about pop culture and draws from that to further his story upon the blog. I highly respect him and am thankful to call him a friend. :) If you haven't already go follow him and give Julian a poke. You won't be disappointed.
