"I guess, i just hope he'd be easier on himself— you know, with his usual 'can't turn my back on people' thing. After all, there's only one him, and he can't be everywhere to help people all the time."

Anyways, **plagues you with hcs**;

• Taiki is trans (this came to me in a dream so it's forever canon in my heart)

People in his life (family, friends, etc) were surprisingly fine with it (returning his kindness for helping them with the kindness of supporting him :})

Though there are a few exceptions (mostly people at school) that would remain silent and pretend they're supportive but the second Taiki's not within earshot, they start referring him with the wrong pronouns or gossip about him (yes im giving him issues, he needs issues)

The majority are quick to scold amd correct them— but Shoutmon?

Taiki lets out an exasperated sigh.

He had been exploring through this part of town with Shoutmon for atleast a couple of hours now, still not quite sure about where this weird Digimon's presence was even at.

Well, he supposed that Kiriha will be Kiriha, regardless of how much time had passed since the last time they've crossed eachother's paths.

But it would be nice if the blonde hadn't decided to vanish to god knows where after dropping that bombshell on him.

Still though, his friend hadn't been wrong. Prior to his announcement, Taiki would sometimes hear something graze past his ears, barely audible before it faded away, easily drowned out by the hustle and bustle of the world.

And whenever Shoutmon had been around, no longer obligated to his kingly duties for the day, they'd confirm that they'd felt the same thing too, just as briefy.

"I wonder if Shoutmon's found it already..." The brunette muttered absentmindedly.

Even if Taiki's been bestowed with the blessing to hearing a Digimon's soul, their ever beating melody, he wouldn't be surprised if Shoutmon outmatched him in that department.

He knew his people better, after all.

As Taiki began weaving his way through the crowd of people- likely getting home from work, trying to avoid the forecasted rain, or both- he noticed a soft glow whisk past him from the corners of his eyes...

Split paths and cover more ground in the Human World. He'd suggested.

Sure, it could put them at risk, especially with him strutting downtown like he owned the place.

But at the same time, he was atleast tall enough to be mistaken to be just some guy in a really elaborate mascot costume.

While Taiki wasn't too big of a fan of this idea, Shoutmon thought it would be equally worth the trouble since Kiriha thought he'd be soooo helpful by just dropping information and fuck off entirely after.

And despite their best efforts, he hasn't been able to find what the other General had mentioned- yet.

Instead he finds himself getting more looks from people than good progress on their search.

He won't let himself be deterred though, because if he did, he won't be called The Digimon King to begin with.

"Heard- what i assume to be a cat?- fighting on the roof, is that normal?? Is this what you humans have to wake up to everyday???"

Shoutmon stared back down at the invitation in their hand. Occasionally flipping it to look at it's back.

In all honesty, neither him or Taiki knew how this invitation got here nor do they remember if they ever got invited to an event of any kind.

The dragon flips over the invitation to it's back again, expecting for someone else's name to appear. When they're met with none, they groan before shouting;

"Oooii, Taiki! Are ya done yet? You better not try wearing that shitty blazer-over-shirt combo again!"

"No, im not!"

The boy shouts back in reply from behind the bathroom door before opening it to show that, he was infact, not wearing that fashion disaster of a combo.

"Especially not after you fussed over it the first time i tried."

"Taiki we had a month to prepare, im not gonna let you half ass it like that one time with Akari."

"Fair."

Taiki chuckled, raising both his hands in surrender. As he approached his partner, eventually the brunette's eyes landed on the invitation in the dragons hand.

"Anyhow, how are we even going to attend without an address...?"

"That's a good que-"

Before Shoutmon could even finish their sentence, something bursts out from the invitation and sparks into the space infront of both of them.

And in it's place, a rift crackles open.

".... Neeeeevermind then!"

"That's... Awfully convenient."

After much consideration and with not much reason to not to, both of them step into the rift.

Shoutmon stared at the Cherubimon and their offer for a good few seconds, before deciding to push themselves off the ground.

"No, s'okay. Im fine-"

The dragon groaned in reply as he reached for his- otherwise unscathed- mask that came loose during his fall and grabbed onto the giant rabbit's hand to hoist himself off the ground.

"But, thanks for the offer, either way!"

Upon coming out of the rift he came with, which is apparently an inch or two high off of the ground, Shoutmon proceeds to lose their balance....

And tripped face first onto the Garden's grounds... What an entrance huh?

shoutmon how is the digital word like ? Do you have to do a lot of paper work as King?

"The Digital World's been doin' better ever since i stepped up as King!- and unfortunately yeah, that means a lotta paperwork to deal with..."

"If it's not Wisemon helping him decipher those, he'll sometimes show up in my Xros Loader and ask for my help."

"Taiki... You're truly my lifesaver........"

"Though... Shoutmon hasn't been showing up as often anymore. And i think that's because he's getting better at navigating their paperwork, so i'm glad i could be of help for a short while."

"Oi oi... Don't self yourself short."

After briefly giving eachother a look, any semblance of the other Shoutmon's previous casualness dissipates into the air like steam.

"Salutations, esteemed Duchess and her loyal guardian. I am Shoutmon, the benevolent ruler and King of the Digital World."

They step forward before bowing down in the most regal, practiced manner you've ever seen.

"And this is my most trusted general, who also happen to be my brother in arm."

Shoutmon then gestures to the masked boy, who only nods as his expression morphs into something more akin to amusement, not following suit with any of the grand introduction his partner has set up.

"And we are here because..."

Instead of receiving an answer, you watch as the dragon open his mouth before closing it again, then immediately turning back to their partner and stage whispers;

"Taiki, what were we invited here for again?"

The boy, now known as Taiki, chuckles in reply before shrugging.

The dragon digimon approached with a grin, trailing not too far behind them was a boy, who then added;

"Or any other humans, as far as i know."

"Shoutmon? Stop kidding around." Akirah nervously giggled mid-speech.

"𝗪𝗵𝗼'𝘀 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻'? 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙮 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜. 𝙒𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙢 𝙛𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙮 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚!" Shoutmon whispered the other part to Akirah, wanting to make sure they blended in. "…𝘈𝘭𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵… 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘴. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘐'𝘮 𝘯𝘰 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦."

The two looked back up at the other pair.

"𝗦𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘆, 𝗿𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀-𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗳𝗳. 𝗔𝗻𝘆𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝘄𝗼'𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹. 𝗛𝗼𝘄'𝗱 𝘆𝗮 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗴?" Shoutmon asked, leaning against a nearby wall. Meanwhile, poor Akirah was already looking pale and nervous.

right over there, behind the moon

if your body wasn't made of flesh and bones, your soul wouldn't live on this planet; i think it doesn't suit it. you deserve more, better, you deserve the moon and all the stars and the entire galaxies. funny how people can spot colorful planets playing hide and seek in the depths of your eyes, such beautiful mirrors, and i don't really blame them if they get lost in them. to someone, i feel like you're hard to reach. you have dreams, ambitions, you're like the humid august wind that dances in a lover's hair. do you ever spend nights with your nose up, facing the sky? maybe stargazing? i think it would be comforting knowing your soul would be there, always present, holding hands with falling stars and singing lullabies to the clouds. you're such a dream. if your soul had a color, it would be a glittery purple with blue highlights, and it would smell like peonies.
