Happy (VERY, VERY, EXTREMELY LATE) birthday to my friend @concernedbrownbread who is also beta-ing Winds of Wolfsong for me! I'm so sorry that this is uhhhhh exactly a month and a week late, shit has been getting in my way, the device I use to draw constantly breaking down, etc etc but I did my best. This is the first time I'm trying such dramatic lighting but y'know what, I'm pretty happy with it! I wanted to reference her name Himiko, aka “child/daughter of the sun”, and how she was described in the first chapter of The Weaver:

“And as the shadows lengthen and the light of the dying sun cast on Uchiha Himiko, Hiruzen saw her for what she was.”

“The light from the world outside cast a circle around Himiko's head, bright and brilliant. Himiko. Child of the sun.”

“And as sunlight crowned Himiko, the world continued to be at war. The Shinobi world, for the children born into it, was always at war.”

I also decided to add little peony clasps for her coat because Himiko was born in June, and the flower representing her birth month in hanafuda is the peony. Peonies symbolize great fortune, bravery, and honor— they also depict that getting great rewards is only possible by taking great risks, it is also often used in tattoos to signify a devil-may-care attitude which I think fits the image that Himiko projected towards the world and to her family, like she isn't taking things seriously, she doesn't care, even though she's really working on one thing or another on the sly, and I thought that fit Himiko quite well.

Hi, Ray! The author of Foxes, Pillars, and Sea-salt Rust here!!! Someone recommended my fic here????? I'm so honored!!! 🥹

So I would like to put forth my own recommendations too. I put it in my fic's AN's also, but I highly recommend Far Beyond the Woods of Dawn by wolfghost (and the entire Drag My Dark Into The Dawn AU series the fic is part of, and I suggest you access the series while logged in, because a couple of the fics are registered users only, I promise it's worth it) and The Weaver by Concerned_Brown_Bread! Both feature OCs as protagonists, a Senju for the former (Tobirama's granddaughter) and an Uchiha for the latter (Itachi's elder twin sister).

Drag My Dark has to be one of the most immersive fiction experiences I've had, up there with the manga Otoyomegatari (if you know, you know), the character psychology is top-notch, the author expertly weaves worldbuilding into the narration in a way that it's so seamless and not at all like an infodump, I like to describe it as “a slice-of-life except that the characters live in a horrible war-torn war and that affects how they navigate their lives”. The world just feels lived-in. There's information about how wars cause sanctions and prices to rise and a good highlight on what it's like to be a civilian in this kind of world. The protagonist is still a child, but the author captures children in their writing so well. She's a traumatized young child and she acts like that!! Her trauma informs how she views everything, and her being raised by civilians (long story, read the prequel to find out lol) affects how she views shinobi and the world at large! I can't wait for what the story has in store for her. We're entering the Kirigakure arc 👀 (also heavily featuring so far are Tsunade and Kushina!! Kushina's chapter has got to be one of my favorites)

The Weaver takes on a different vibe and path regarding the politics and worldbuilding, but also really plausible and I love how the author incorporates academic excerpts from the future like snippets from a history book into the chapters itself like it just gives this work such a grand feel of “oh things are gonna have consequences, we're along the ride of a big, world-changing tale”. The characterization is top-notch in this fic. You really do feel the complicated dynamics between the family members, how for all that Itachi is a prodigy he is also just a child and thus lacks the perspective to see propaganda for what it is, and the author does so brilliantly by contrasting him against his twin sister, the protagonist, who's a reborn adult (a politician in her past life who died of heat stroke before election day, which is objectively the funniest premise for a reincarnation EVER). The protagonist is witty, smart, funny, relatable, and just all-around very good. She lives rent-free in my head, can you tell? I know the fic is on hiatus but I had the privilege to read the unpublished chapters because ✨beta✨ and I promise you, it's very well worth it.

Both fics give weight to civilians instead of immediately dismissing them as “weak and stupid”, I love love love both fics and please please please read them I promise they're amazing! They have very different vibes but they're both amazing.

As for my fic, yeah I did base my protagonist off of Sansa Stark, LOL. I even tried to incorporate Sansa's lines from the first book into my own writing to really sell the vibe!

I love Whirlpool Queen, Maelstrom King but the politics in Foxes, Pillars, and Sea-salt Rust take on a very different shape from WQMK's— a bit more like wolfghost's Drag My Dark. I too will feature civilians in this fic! Daimyo's and nobility and merchants and commoners alike! Please look forward to it! I have Plans™ for Uzushio's politics and its role in the world as a whole.

Well, here she is!

Info under the cut

If you can’t see in the corner, her name is Nori. The sea creatures she was infused with were as followed:

- Atlantic ghost crab

- Whale shark

- Koi fish

- Beta fish

- Lemon shark

She was tested on for genetic study, which is why she has so many patterns on her. The basic idea was: “What’ll she look like when we infuse all these colorful creatures into her?”

Her backstory is pretty straightforward lol - She was a higher rank working for Urbanshade and she was the second tester to get gills infused into her body while the surgery was still getting ironed out, which meant that there was a mutation. She was slowly developing extra limbs and her legs were beginning to fuse together. Very. Slowly.

Eventually, she told an elite about this and instead of getting medical help, they just demoted her to an experiment, took away her duties and privileges in the company, and got tossed into a cell.

Her number is Z-38

While Sebastian was getting his tests, the company was figuring out what to do with Nori. The breach that he caused was actually during a test to infuse an electric eel into her body, which was obviously cut off before the DNA could get injected. The scientists died to anglers rushing through the side rooms and Nori’s containment area was broken.

After the breach and the chaos died down, she met the p.AI.nter, who directed her to Sebastian.

Sebastian was getting his little hideout ready for living in when Nori crawled through the vent. Sebastian was aware of her, but had never met her. He eventually, and very reluctantly, lets her stay with him because she’d die if he didn’t.

If she was in the game, she would be on the balcony next to Sebastian’s head, sleeping. If the player shakes a gummylight in the shop enough times, she’ll wake up and follow them to the Ridge. Until then, she’ll kill wall dwellers and warn the player of Pinkie and fake doors.

She’s generally pretty lazy and often will complain when someone wakes her up. Otherwise, she’s really helpful and despises wall dwellers with a passion.

Her design was made up as I went honestly. The webbed fingers, dot on her tail, and the necklace were all just “Hmm, what if I did this?” But I gave them ✨significance✨

Bandages - She was badly wounded before the breach and Urbanshade refused to clean her up so she has multiple dirty bandages on her body. Some of them are for open wounds, others are just to cover her.

Necklace - She was engaged to a woman back up on the surface (She’s lesbian) and like a lot of headcanons about Sebastian’s ring, she eventually outgrew it and put it on a piece of string to remember her fiancé.

Extra arms - crab

Dot on her tail - Koi fish

Lines on her waist - stretch marks from her tail forming

Scarf - It’s cold as shit down in the Blacksite, I’d think

Six eyes - “Hmm, what if I did this?” And it stuck

Blue hair - Genetic alteration and also her human form kinda had grayish-blue hair. No she’s not old, she’s 24.

Extra stuff

- Her ear fins align with her emotions

- She absolutely has favorite Expendables… when she’s awake to see them.

- She will absolutely gossip with Painter and Sebastian

- She enjoys swimming, but only when it’s with Sebastian or Eyefestation. No way she’s going out into the Let-Vand Zone alone!

- Her top speed in the water is about 15 mph (24 km per hour) because of her whale shark and lemon shark DNA mixing together (Whale sharks can only go up to 3 mph and lemon sharks can go up to 25 mph)

- The Good People scare her

- She was an aspiring author when she was a human but worked as a marine biologist because her dad desperately wanted her to be one

2. Talk about a notable time a narrative or character has looked you dead in the eyes and said “fuck your plan, here’s what we’re actually doing.”

Oh, that ends up happening a lot! It’s one of the reasons some of my carefully curated plots sometimes twist and turn and end up looking different. It’s either that, or I rethink about what the characters would truly do. But I think one of the funniest was in With a tie not easy to break, Dwalin’s reaction to the news as they started their journey, was completely his fault. My original plan was to have him simply not react and swallow it down, and it ended up exploding into something else! It felt much more in character, imo! (And it was funnier, not gonna lie).

13. talk about a writing experience that has pleasantly surprised you.

Ah, that’s an easy one. Writing in english, actually! I tried years ago, translating one of my own works, and got quickly discouraged for the (not very constructive) comments I received that my English was not good enough, and I’ve been self-conscious about it ever since. I have to say, at that time, I had no native beta reader to help me, and my english was probably not as decent as it is now. I feel more confident and fluent now than I was back then, but the way those comments were worded made me worry and not try again for a very long time. (It’s called constructive criticism, my dudes. The constructive part is the important one!)

I stepped into writing entirely in english with Lost and found, and the help of my dear @loveinthemindpalace as beta reader, and I was surprised at how… decent my work ended up being. Yes, there were many mistakes, but it felt good that there were consistently less of them the more I wrote and checked at the style and grammar corrections. So I’m glad I took that step to dare try again despite everything. Even if I still have that nagging feeling at times that the writing isn’t good enough to match native speakers. I’m a very picky author, and I hated with a passion having grammar mistakes in spanish, so it’s difficult at times to deal with that feeling in another language, feeling like those mistakes will just pass me by and I will never find them.

But to sum up! English writing! Never thought I’d enjoy it this much, but here we are!

66. when have you felt the most confident in your writing? 

Ah, this one ties up nicely with the one above. I think my latest baby, The Veiled King, would be it. Writing this one felt as good as writing spanish did back in the day, which I never thought would be possible. I felt like I could let go and was thinking less about how to say what I wanted to say, and more about the what. (Also, I love writing angsty stuff, and this fic has a lot of it, so it’s been like a treat for myself, hehe) This is the longest I’ve ever written in english, and it hasn’t felt like it! (I have to enthusiastically thank once more my two beta readers, who have helped me through the fic, for their amazing work! Peregrine graciously took over the second half, and it has been my absolute privilege to have such an amazing beta 💜)

During Steve’s final year at NYU, he finally let his Ma talk him into staying in the dorms instead of using his New Yorker privilege to stay with her. It had turned out to be an absolute mistake. Steve had despised his roommate, who was another alpha like him but apparently hadn’t been taught manners by their parents like Steve had. They were incapable of any volume other than loud even in the middle of the night, always left their room trashed, and brought so many dates back to their dorm room that he had still spent more time back at his Ma’s than he had in his actual dorm. By the end of the year, Steve had been firmly adamant that he would never, not in a million years, ever have a roommate again.

This was, of course, before he’d wound up with his dream job as an animator for Disney, packed himself up and moved to Los Angeles, and discovered that principles were all very well and good but having enough money to eat instead of giving it all to his rent was better.

So now he has Justin.

And while Justin is irritating in ways that have nothing to do with his beta designation—there are already too many tech startups in the world, and Steve doesn’t even know what Justin is doing in L.A. and not, you know, Silicon Valley—and a social climber—if Steve never has to hear one more “that time I met Insert-Celebrity’s-Name-Here” story, it’ll be too soon—and just generally incompetent—they’ve received two noise violations already for explosions that Justin’s “tech” has set off—he isn’t actually that bad of a roommate. Sure, he’s not fantastic, but he doesn’t try to posture with Steve in the apartment (which would be ineffective anyway since Steve is very much an alpha and Justin is, despite his best efforts, very much not), he does generally pick up after himself, and he never brings people back (though Steve isn’t entirely convinced that’s not because he doesn’t want them to see where he actually lives instead of out of any sense of courtesy). Anytime he goes somewhere fancy for a business meeting, he brings back food for Steve, and he even offered Steve the nicer of the two bedrooms because he thought Steve would appreciate the greater amount of natural light (though again, Steve isn’t sure how much of that is altruism and not just that Justin isn’t a morning person).

Truthfully, right up until Justin’s birthday party, Steve might have even said that Justin was a pretty good person.

Up until about a week ago, Justin had been dating… some celebrity omega. Steve is pretty sure that it had come up at some point, and considering his excitement over it, there are probably pap photos of them somewhere, but he tends to tune out all of Justin’s celebrity stories, pretty sure that most of them are fake. There’s only so many times Justin can say that he’d been invited backstage at every Beyoncé concert he’s ever been to before Steve stops believing them. Last week though, Justin’s celebrity boyfriend had broken up with him, citing reasons of Justin being a tool (which, not gonna lie, had made Steve snicker a bit), and he’s been on the warpath ever since.

“Steve! My man! My best friend!” Justin exclaims, leaning up against the doorframe of Steve’s bedroom.

“Nope,” Steve says immediately. It’s not that he has anything against Justin. It’s just that this is the first time he’s been home in forty-eight hours. They’re coming up on the last days before finished scenes need to be turned in, which means that it’s all hands on deck at the studio. Most of the animators who don’t have families have spent the entire time at their desk, and even the ones that do have gone home, given their kids kisses goodnight, and turned right back around. He’s looking forward to sleeping for thirteen straight hours, and Justin’s birthday doesn’t factor even the slightest bit into his plans.

“But you have to come,” Justin whines. “I’ve been telling everyone all about you—” which means he’s been playing up Steve’s job to make him sound like he’s a bigger deal than he is—“and they’re all so excited! Come on, it’s my birthday!”

Steve is, unfortunately, a fundamentally decent person, so he sighs, says goodbye to his thirteen hours of sleep, and goes out to join the party. And despite his exhaustion, it’s not even that bad of a party until someone asks Justin about his celebrity boyfriend—Tony Stark, and how could Steve have forgotten that? Everyone knows who Tony Stark is. He knows who Tony Stark is, and he doesn’t know anyone despite working in the entertainment industry.

“That cheapskate broke up with me,” Justin seethes. “I mentioned it was my birthday once, and he broke up with me instead of spending even a few dollars on a present for me.” Knowing Justin, it was probably more than once and it was probably a completely outrageous present that even the world’s biggest pop star would struggle to afford, because Justin is that kind of irritating, but Steve keeps his mouth shut.

“It’s a shame you don’t have his nudes or something,” the girl who’d brought Tony up says.

Justin blinks at her before a slow smile spreads across his face. “But I do have them. He made me delete them when we broke up but I had a copy saved in a different folder on my phone.”

“Really?” the girl asks interestedly. “You know, he’s never done a nude photoshoot.”

“Yeah, none of his other partners have ever released anything like that,” someone else chimes in. Steve shifts uncomfortably. He doesn’t like the direction this is going, but there’s something niggling in the back of his mind, telling him to stick around. “Super weird since he’s dated so many people.”

“You could totally sell them,” the first girl says, warming to her theme. “You’d probably make like a ton of money off of them.”

“I could make some money off of them,” Justin says thoughtfully. “And it would get Hammer Industries’ name out there.”

“But that’s revenge porn.”

Hello! I’ve been advised to ask you about how you would plan to write the sequel “yet i do fear thy nature.” How would you say you would go about it? - void

omg hiii hello :) @mouseyblue-ao3 and i looove collaborating on writing (see our robo scarab collection including our latest scorbo rp, our spades slick/bec noir fic, etc)! i've had the privilege of beta-ing for them several times, and they've been kind enough to make several unofficial sequels listed as "inspired by" some of my work... but I think this is the first time I'm writing a proper sequel for something of theirs?? so i'm SUPER EXCITED!!! 🤩✨

SO!!

My initial thought, when yet i do fear thy nature was still in the planning stages, was that I could have Orbo let Scarab stay at his home as a kind of witness protection situation, with Orbo somehow getting permission from the Boss to have his home taken "off-the-grid", so to speak--that way it would be unable to be monitored from the Time Room, and Scarab didn't have to worry about Prismo spying on him all the time after escaping his clutches. 🥺

Then, Orbo could give Scarab his own room, while telling Scarab he could "do whatever he wanted" to Orbo as revenge... resulting in some pretty spicy reclamation of agency on Scarab's part with Orbo as his willing victim~ 😊💞

But in that situation, I had imagined Orbo only as Scarab's rescuer with a long-time crush on him... So when mousey finally wrote it out, and they made Orbo not only haplessly complicit in Scarab's rape, but a fellow perpetrator, that added some interesting complications...! Most crucially, it hadn't occurred to me that Orbo might have a mancrush on Prismo--but not only did mousey make a compelling argument for that being the underpinning motivation behind Orbo saying "Prismo? Nah, that guy's cool. He wouldn't do that! <:)" they went and made it a PIVOTAL ELEMENT OF ORBO'S SUSCEPTIBILITY TO PEER PRESSURE IN THE ORIGINAL WORK!

so I'm just sitting here thinking, like... okay... I can't NOT address the Prismo thing, right...?!??!

So maybe Orbo has always been crushing on Scarab AND Prismo (this heightens the tragedy of Orbo believing he was getting everything he wanted from Prismo's deceit in yet i do fear thy nature 🥲)... Let's say his crush on Prismo was absolutely obsessive. I'm talking fanboy levels of maladaptive, parasocial admiration. MAYBE Orbo asked for his home to be taken off the grid a long time ago, citing reasons of "privacy"... I mean, it's one thing for Prismo to be a cosmic voyeur of all mortalkind in every dimension, but it's another thing to have to go to work with a guy who might have been watching you sleep or shower or masturbate while calling his name, right? Nothing unusual with Orbo wanting to keep his work and home lives separate!

But maybe with the added security of knowing his home is truly beyond Prismo's sight, he was able to feel more comfortable indulging that crush with somethingl ike, a room full of custom Prismo merchandise... painted the same sunshine yellow as the Time Room, Prismo area rug, Prismo body pillow, Prismo-themed bedspread. Obviously after rescuing Scarab he has to toss it all... But maybe Scarab catches him in the act and demands to know what he's doing with all this garbage. Orbo is mortified, bites his lip and scuffs his heel on the carpet, but he swears he's trashing it... Never meet your heroes, haha...! But y'know. Maybe Scarab snatches the gigantic Prismo plush/body pillow and takes it back to his room and locks the door... Orbo feels a little culpable for handing over such a patently maladaptive coping mechanism, but well... if anyone needs a safe stand-in for Prismo to cope with his unwilling desire and lingering trauma, it's Scarab, right? 🥺

So basically it's Orbo and Scarab living in the most fraught domestic bliss known to man (I love crippling Orbo with guilt 😇), while Orbo tries to respect Scarab's boundaries (and fails half the time bc he wants him so bad), while Scarab copes with his NEWLY ACTIVATED LIBIDO and having PRECIOUS FEW OUTLETS (he doesn't even know how to masturbate 😭) (but then, Orbo is right there...)

so like the highlight of all this and the part that's living in my brain rent free rn is the thought of Orbo knocking on Scarab's door and telling him to come down for dinner or sth, and when Scarab doesn't answer he opens the door and sees him riding the giant Prismo plush... 😵‍💫 but Scarab is so frustrated... poor thing doesn't know what he's DOING... Scarab gasps in scandalized humiliation and Orbo flushes and hastily apologizes and slams the door shut. and then thinks. well. Scrabby didn't lock the door, did he...?

so Orbo comes BACK INSIDE and gets astride that giant prismo plush behind Scarab and gently guides his hips to show him how it's done 😵‍💫 😵‍💫 😵‍💫 hi im unwell!!!

anyway that's the plan--a few more awkward scenes like that as they orbit around each other, grow closer, orbo taking such good care of scarab... 🥺 then wrap it all up with the most disgustingly sweet domestic bliss you've ever seen in your LIFE after they get over all their hang-ups, live happily ever after, the end!! :)

Beta Designs

yep indeed these are the beta designs where it all started

I'll edit this post every once in a while with changes I've made to their designs + potential design changes, and I'll eventually make a post with their Official Finalized Designs once I'm completely satisfied with their designs

Changes made so far:

as of July 1st 2024

Redesigned Chooch to look more like OG Chooch and Reanimated Chooch (both of which were peak Chooch design)

Fixed up Brain + gave him hearing aids

Spook has been given back his big-ass claw privileges

Fancy moved his CGM further up his arm underneath his shirt sleeve

T.C. has shaved the mullet and his hair will in fact switch between the baby hairs and long luxurious locks depending on how he feels

Spook is now officially the tallest and actually looks like he is too

Spook's toof has been embiggened

Redesigned Brain to look better + he shaved, got hearing aids, and looks like he got into a fight with a tree and lost

Chooch has polydactyl and now has 5 toes on each of his peets

Brain went to the hair salon n got a haircut (picture to be added)

Chooch now has an extra pinkie on each paw and his eyes are now green like in Reanimated and in the scrapped reboot concept

🍲 when did you start writing and why?

i started writing short stories when i was about seven (a story about a bunny who went on a school trip to the moon 😅), wrote my first “novel” when i was nine, and - yeah. basically for as long as i can remember i’ve always been in the process of writing something. i don’t really know why - i’ve just always felt so drawn to it, and like it’s something that helps me make sense of my experience of the world around me. i (ironically lol) can't really put it into words, but i never really feel more *me* than i do when i’m writing 💜

which of your fics was the most emotionally difficult to write?

there were a couple i wrote right at the beginning of my fic writing days about a decade ago that were really raw and personal, but other than that... i think i'd have to say four walls. it's definitely the closest thing to my heart i've written in years, the most connected i've felt to a protagonist - which is the most wonderful thing to experience when writing, but can also definitely be emotionally difficult in that it's hard to switch off from sometimes, and has also made me confront quite a few themes that have been significant in my own life. but in my experience, the most emotionally difficult fics to write are also always the most rewarding ✨ (something that is 100% true for four walls!)

have any comments, tags or reactions to one of your fics ever made you laugh or cry or both?

oh my god, SO often! i feel like this is the case for basically every fic i've ever posted and got feedback for - i'm utterly incapable of keeping a straight face whenever i'm reading comments people have left on my work. @perfectly-clear-from-here is always RIDICULOUSLY good at saying things when they're beta-ing my work that make me laugh out loud regardless of where i am (more than once i've got some strange looks on the bus 😅), but there have been also a whole bunch of comments on four walls recently with people basically just shouting at alex for being a total idiot that have made me giggle helplessly 😭

i have also been lucky enough to have some unbelievably lovely, thoughtful and personal comments on various fics over the years (several on four walls are particularly fresh in my mind rn, including of course the ones from your lovely self minnie 🥺💞) and honestly - every time someone talks about having personally connected with something i've written, i can feel my heart ache and my eyes start welling up 😭 there have been some really special comments i've received for various fics in the past that have always stuck with me too, and which totally reduced me to tears when i read them first and still pull at my heart when i think about them now. it's truly just such a profound, special thing and such a privilege when you feel like something you've written has impacted someone else 💜

Wednesday is the typa author to never reply to comments but deep down enjoys the kudos and compliments

Enid is a oneshot funshot queen, meanwhile Wednesday has several multi-chapter works going on at the same time

Enid has a super spontaneous updating schedule where she’ll post when she posts

Wednesday updates her works every Wednesday (on the nose I know) and follows a STRICT schedule, she has never missed an update day not fer anything ever

Enid prolly has a cutesy username like ‘kittygotclaws’ or smth idk I dont go on wattpad

Wednesday goes by ‘DaysEnd’ on ao3 and REALLY it's quite on the nose

Wednesday is SUPER SECRETIVE about her ao3 acc, Thing is the only soul who knows of it bc he helps beta read

DaysEnd being a rising ao3 fan favorite amongst the Nevermore student body omg so true so slay of you Miss Addams (she tells Thing she does not care for such popularity but deep down revels in people actually appreciating her work, unlike some publishers out there)

They really like her strong imagery, plot twists, and her stories are pretty gore-heavy but the narration is quite compelling (seriously, she goes so in depth on random macabre shit like different types of murders, ways to cover up said murders, poisons and upkeep on daggers and all this dark shit etc etc that a popular comment she’ll get is ‘hey not to be rude but whats your search history like because how do you KNOW all this??’)

Meanwhile Enid mainly writes fanfics of her fav kpop bands and other OTPs that are often AUs or canon divergent heavy, sometimes she’ll pop off with the most hilarious fanfic that is pure CRACK

That being said, Enid’s works have some pretty damn good dialogue I just know it in my bones that she’s a character driven type of writer

Her emotional introspection is also? Surprisingly good?? Like damn when the feels hit they HIT, Enid is definitely the type to write the fluffest fluff, the angstiest angst, and the most cathartic hurt/comfort you’ll ever read if you make the conscious decision to look past her occasional grammatical errors and other typos

Wednesday’s original works, on the other hand, definitely aren't as much of a heartthrob, they’re probably more plot driven with less space for overly descriptive emotional scenes (both writing styles are valid as hell, mind you)

One day Enid discovers Wednesday’s secret ao3 and lives to tell the tale because deep down Miss Addams is a GAY GAY HOMOSEXUAL GAY

In exchange for keeping hush hush, Wednesday has to become Enid’s full-time beta reader for every. Single. Fic.

Wednesday HATES such drivel but agrees to such terms in order to keep her secret safe, much to Thing’s teasing delight over how soft she is for her fellow writer (“For producing such literary muck, she does not even deserve the privilege to tarnish such a title.” “I know what you are, Wednesday.” “What kind of threat is that?”)

I mean that being said, Wednesday gets low key invested in the sapphic otp fanfics Enid seems to have a penchant for writing when the fic isn’t kpop centered, her interest stems from uh nooooo reassooonnn noshutupThingthisdoesntmeananything-

When Enid brings up branching out to writing about OCs like Wednesday does-

Wednesday hates fandom terms like ‘OCs’ btw

-Wednesday encourages Enid to branch out in a very… Wednesdayish way

Like, she’s supportive but you gotta unpeel at least three layers of deflection and deadpanning to get to the real meaning

So yeah!! Enid branches out and starts writing silly little oneshots about various OCs, and if Wednesday notes that all of the stories revolve around gay characters, and if Thing notices how invested Wednesday gets in these silly little sapphics to point where he keeps commenting on it….

Andddd that’s the story of how Enid came back to the dorm with Thing being locked up in the drawer while Wednesday is burying her face in her pillow in what looks like a half-hearted attempt of suffocating herself

Anyways Wednesday’s repressed ass starts to ‘vent’ in her fanfics, if people start noticing DaysEnd incorporating more romance into their works no they don't stfu

It gets to the point where she ‘confesses’ to Enid by having Viper confesses to this new bubbly character that was recently introduced (“These feelings you have plagued me with, you make me sick,” said Viper, “And for my sake, I hope there is no cure.”)

Enid, with a lot I mean a metric fuckton of persuasion from Thing, eventually picks up on this and confesses back

Cue Wednesday beta reading Enid’s latest wattpad work and noticing how it’s about two polar opposite roomates who somehow make it work, and when the cheery one says to the gloomy one, “I also hope there’s no cure for the way I feel about you” it suddenly all clicks for Wednesday

🤗 What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?

Oh lord. Um. Have fun!!!

No, seriously. Someone out there will love your story, no matter who you are and what you write, but don’t expect hundreds of likes or whatever the first day. Write for you, write because it’s fun or because you want to put something out there. Don’t be afraid to write “overused tropes”, there is no one like you. Your story may have the same tropes or themes but nobody can do what you can do. (And obsessive idiots like me look for the same tropes to read so like. Write what you want)

Perfection is overrated. So what if there are a few typos - it doesn’t change the story. Write what feels right for you, grab prompts where you can if that’s what works best for you. So yeah. Have fun. Make friends, interact with other writers or readers if you’re comfy with that. I have the privilege of talking to a lot of the writers I look up to and that’s amazing, so just… ya know. Enjoy yourself.

Oh, and ask for help if you need it. We are many out there willing to beta or brainstorm with you. I was too scared to talk to anyone when I started out, but seriously. I have yet to talk to anyone (at least in the superbat fandom) who won’t lend a helping hand if I’m struggling.

Write for you, have fun and make sure to tag me if there’s any superbat fluff in the vicinity 👀✨
