     He had been balanced precariously on a slippery rock in the middle of the creek, poised just so as he made ready to LUNGE at the fish swimming against the gentle stream. There was no luck with the fishing rod, for some reason the fish not harboring any sort of appetite, and so Link took it upon himself to capture the fish with his barehands. There was nothing but him and his target, focused and intense, DETERMINED to earn his catch and show Yuu just how it was done.

     No, he was not listening to the other’s bored-like tone in how if Link wasn’t careful, he would surely SLIP into the creek. Psht! This wasn’t his first time catching fish, after all! He was CONFIDENT in his skill.

     “Aaaaaaand...” He breathed, voice a quiet murmur as he readied himself for the attack. “... GOTCHA      AAAAA !!” Boots, as expected, slipped from the rock he called his perch, sending the blond tumbling forward clumsily and creating quite the splash. For a moment, he breathed in river water through his nose, if only briefly, but he found that even whilst he sat up in the shallow creek, he still couldn’t sputter out and breathe in proper air, something BLOCKING the entryway to his mouth.

     Only for a particularly rough cough to unclog it with an audible pop! The fish now wriggling in his hands weakly after suffering a NASTY bite. His bite.

     “... Oh...” The blond’s daze was effectively shattered by laughter, sapphires widening and staring up at Yuu who had suddenly been left in stitches. There was a second of FLUSHED embarrassment, the Hero of Time’s face reddening after realizing just how ridiculous he must have appeared to the other.

     And then deep red softened to gentle rose, tapered ears twitching as they further tuned into the sound of Yuu’s GENUINE laughter, finding it to be one of the nicest sounds he’s heard in a long while. 

     “Laugh it up, at least I caught us dinner!” Link boasted after a moment, free hand rising to wipe at his cheeks and willing the color to subside. Still, he remained GRINNING all the while, rising to his feet and wading back onto dry land, internally satisfied with both accomplishments he’d achieved that day.

     Autumn leaves swayed gently above their heads, Link having found himself dozing off all too easily with the aid of a COMFORTING breeze. It was worrisome, truth be told, to know that the young blond could fall asleep practically anywhere, and against the rough bark of such a looming tree was nothing out of the ordinary for him. Still, he wasn’t entirely gone, not just yet, ears and senses on ALERT for any possible threat.

     Fingers hesitantly tangling with his own had not been a feeling he had expected to pick up on, but he had. Digits twitched lightly against the touch, but the boy otherwise made no move to pull AWAY or bring attention to the action.

     Last thing Link wanted, was to FRIGHTEN or embarrass the other.

     And so he did the only thing he could really think of: He allowed himself to drift off into sleep. With the slight WARMTH of a hand lightly clasped within his own, it wasn’t long until his dreams claimed him-- pleasant ones, for a change.

     The smile to overcome his face was sheepish, at best, shoulders HUNCHING whilst the young boy gradually slowed in his actions. As if being scolded for doing something wrong, yet fully committed to completing his task, he didn’t completely abandon his mission even as the BLUSH set in.

     “... Y-your hair’s... good for braiding...” Came the mumbled response to Yuu’s words, spoken aloud even as he knew it wouldn’t be enough to SATISFY the boy as an answer. “... I uh... I like braiding hair...” That wasn’t too great of a response either, and he knew it, but he couldn’t really provide much of an answer... at least, not one that he thought would be ACCEPTED. Yuu was very particular, after all.

     “... I um... I-I like your hair...” And swiftly after saying those words aloud, he was quick to clamp lips shut and avert his gaze, focusing INTENTLY on completing his work before the other could pull away prematurely.

     He related to the statement all too well, a sarcastic comment poised at the tip of his tongue as his mind defaulted to PESSIMISTIC thought: ‘Yeah, you’re telling ME...’ The words were strangled in the back of his throat, however, the boy going so far as to cough into the back of his hand. Yuu didn’t need that kind of response, not now, not ever, but for a moment, the blond struggled with what to say in response.

     “... S-sometimes... when my head gets filled with... things I don’t want to think about or remember... I play the ocarina...” Came the eventual statement, digits already thumbing through his belongings to procure the ceramic instrument. “Playing music helps me forget... a-and focus... Maybe you just... gotta find something that helps you, too...?” A pause, fingers smoothing across GLOSSY indigo surface, before then passing over the sacred instrument over towards the ravent’s way.

     “... Did you wanna give it a try?”

Cautiously, Yuu slips a bit closer to the opening, brows furrowing as he peeks out, searching for the source of the downpour. "... why's there WATER falling from the SKY?"

     For a moment, the green-clad boy could only watch the other in amusement, seeing just how GENUINELY clueless the other was when it came to the natural functions of the world. Link could remember when he, himself, had been new and wide-eyed to the world beyond the forests, and so to an extent, he could understand Yuu’s situation... But over RAIN, of all things? 

     “It’s called ‘Rain’, Yuu... and it falls from the sky pretty often during Spring.” He hoped the laughter he’d managed to contain hadn’t been heard PRESENT within the sound of his voice. “It’s just how the world works... Rain falls and helps the plants grow... makes the grass greener... the flowers bloom... and it sounds nice, too, don’t you think?”

     It was a rookie mistake, on his part. He should have KNOWN better than to tread through the woods without listening first, a sense of confidence that had overflowed and become too prideful in its nature. Countless times had the young hero ventured through the same-faced trees, a sense of familiarity clouding his judgement and lulling him into a false sense of security. These trees were not safe, not in the slightest, and it came as no surprise that such actions came with CONSEQUENCES.

     The Wolfos had leapt from the shadows with great strength, shadowing over the pair like a bird in flight before landing just beside the green-clad boy’s side. Heart in his THROAT, Link swore he would be suffering from a terrible gash when those claws and fangs surely found their mark upon his skin, or worse--

     -- But instead, he felt hands curl around his arm and tug him away, his world spinning for a brief moment as he was tucked against a FAMILIAR, taller form, before the sound of a Wolfos’s whine graced his ears.

     Ah... Yuu...

     It seemed as though the beast hadn’t been looking for a fight, seeking easy prey, and so blessedly, it scampered off back into the thick of the trees, only a SMATTERING of it’s blood having been left behind. Slowly did Link lift his head, still stunned as the shock seemed to slowly expand throughout his frame in the form of light tremors. He had led the other with him into the woods, a place of DANGER and mystery, and had done so without caution. If Yuu hadn’t been there... if he hadn’t been fast enough...

     “Th-... Thank you...” He mumbled through a sense of SHAME, grateful for the save.
