     The times in which the shade bestowed any gestures of affection were few and far between, though such a thing never bothered the hero a single bit. He KNEW where his brother-figure stood, never questioned or second guessed his loyalties after they had both claimed one another as FAMILY, and so such open displays of affection were unnecessary. LINK was the overtly affectionate one, after all. That was his job.

     But when Dark did come to display any such gestures, they were wholeheartedly welcomed with a BRIGHT and eager grin stretching across the blond’s face-- such as the very moment his twin came to wrap arms around his form, face pressed into his shoulder as though in silent, private contemplation.

     What was the other thinking about? Link couldn’t quite put a guess to it, but he welcomed the other’s presence against his side, a solid and COMFORTING weight that served as a reminder of what he held important in his life. 

     What he FOUGHT for.

     “Are you okay?” He questioned openly, leaning into the other’s embrace as he rested hands against blackened arms, head tilting to fall atop the other’s own. “Did you wanna take a nap?” Sometimes a brief REST upon the grass just wasn’t enough, after all. Naps provided rest for both the body and the mind, and with so much weighing upon their thoughts, perhaps it would be BEST for them both.

     “You can use me as a pillow this time!” He offered brightly, laughter trailing along his words.

⚘              “I want to know...” || ❀

     The inquire caused the blond to hesitate in his actions, hands pausing mid-lather of a freshly caught fish which would soon enough be prepped for COOKING over their kindling fire. Sapphired remained glued to the fish’s wriggling form, frantic and insistent, doing it’s best to escape his hold out of instinct, fighting against that which it was born to go against. Remaining silent for a moment longer, he dipped the fish back into the waters once more, watching as it gradually CEASED fighting against him, only to float compliantly in his loosened grasp shortly after.

     “Because... Because I cared.” He murmured into the quiet, thumb brushing along the fish’s spine all the while. “Because... It wasn’t your fault... a-and I... well, y’know...” No, he DIDN’T know, which was exactly why the other was asking such a question to begin with.

     Thoughts of their first encounter filled his thoughts, his counterpart baring teeth and a gleaming blade, angered and distraught over his INCOMPLETE existence. To think of himself in such a position, knowing not who to blame for something that affected him so thoroughly--

     Then again, he knew all too well the internal turmoil of one not knowing who to seek for ANSWERS over life-altering existences, hadn’t he?

     “You’re... like me.” Came the words accompanied by a shrug, not quite COMMITTED to the words that would be spoken, but then again, he wasn’t very good with words to begin with. “We’re... n-not very different, is what I mean... I mean, we are, but... I just... I think we’re also... very alike... I guess...” There was someone, something, out there, playing upon their strings and deeming certain aspects of their existence, somehow, necessary or not. 

     At least, that’s how he made SENSE of it, within his own mind.

     “We’re just unlucky, I-I guess.” Hands released their hold of the fish, it’s form hovering in place momentarily before, WARILY, swimming off into the every shifting streams of the Zoran river. “But we were lucky to find each other... a-and bond together... and now look at us!” BROTHERS through and through, lost and wandering, but not alone-- TOGETHER, growing stronger and stronger every day.

     “I dunno, did I answer your question?” His thoughts wandered for a while there, and honestly, he wasn’t even sure if he was quite on TRACK anymore. Perhaps his words would only further confuse the shade, in the end. “You’re my brother and I care about you!” He reiterated, grinning at the other all the while.

     “I’m starving, let’s go to Kakariko and get some Potato soup!” Truly, the attention span of a CHILD, just as he was in heart and mind.
