お、カッコいい雄がおるなぁ🤔ほかの雄とは、一線を画してる。顔つきも、体つきも、ふてぶてしいズル剥けもたまんねぇや…

この時間、この銭湯は、いつ来ても人が多い。まぁ、銭湯を利用する時間なんて、だいたい同じになるんやろけど、なんていうか、モーションかけづらいやん？一応、公共の場所やしwww

あいつはきっとそうやな。わかりやすいのも何人かおる。まぁ、そこらへんはお互いさまかぁ笑。すれ違う時に、不自然に目が合うか、不自然に目をそらすか。同じ雄を目で追いかけて、たまたま目が合って気まずいこともあるし😁

考えることは一緒やなぁ笑

サウナで一旦汗をかいてから、体を洗う。意外と洗い場が多くて、どこに座るか迷うフリをする。いきなり隣も何かと見づらい。向かい合わせになっているから、鏡越しに視姦できる位置を確保する。

背中の肉付きもガッシリしていてそそられる。向こうは気付いてなさそうやなぁ。ゆっくり普通に体を洗っている。見込み違いやったかなぁ…

なかなか動く気配がないので、取り敢えず、もう１回サウナに入ることにする。先客が何人かいてる。が、やっぱり、さっきの雄がダントツやなぁ。やけど、素っ気なさそうやしなぁ、、、

そうこうしている内に、一人、二人、と人が捌けてゆく。一人になったサウナは静かだ。来ねぇみたいやし、もう少ししたら出るかぁ、、、

そして、向かい合った席に、俺とは位置をずらすように陣取る。相変わらず、こちらに一瞥もくれない。なんか考え事でもしてるんやろか。ま、仮に、こちら側だとしても、俺に興味ないんやろなぁ、、、

確かめてみないとな、、、

おもむろに、腰のタオルをはずし、軽く股を開いて、自分のを自分で弄り始める。最初は小さく、少しずつ��トロークを大きく。段々勃ち上がってきたのを、さも自然な動作のように、上下にゆっくりしごき続ける、、、

ふと、視線がそこへ注がれていることに気づく。虚ろな感じだが、確かにそこを見ている。これは、、、脈アリか？動く気配はないものの、ずっと見ている、、、

立ち上がった！、、、が、サウナの外へ出ていってしまう、、、orz　サウナ前の、多分、水のシャワーで汗を流してる様子。んだよ、期待させやがって、、、と思っていると、再び中に入ってくる。そして、そのまま、俺の前に仁王立ちになると、頭を掴まれ、そそりたつ部位に押し付けようとする。慌てて口を開き、喉奥まで一気に銜え込む。うめぇ、、、、、♂

そこからは、さっきまでが嘘だったかのように、じっくり淡々と犯してくださる。舌を絡ませ、唾を湿らせ、たっぷりと味わう。熱気も相まって、段々ボォーっとしてくる。時折、

「気持ちいぃ…」

という声が洩れる。気持ちよくなっていただけていることが嬉しくて、ちゃんとそのことを口に出してくれる雄は特に好きだ。

しゃぶらせていただいていると、俺の背中から指を這わせ、二本、三本、とそこを解されていく。え？こんなとこで、いいんすか？嬉！その時を想像して、しやぶり込みにも一層熱が入る。

ズボッ！と一旦引き抜かれ、立ち上がらせられると、後ろを向くように促される。俺は、腰かけていたところに両手を置き、背中を反らせながら、その雄の雄の部分に、自分の穴を押し付けるように突き出す。たっぷりヌラヌラとしたナマがあてがわれる。やべ、触れただけで気持ちいい、、、つい、穴が勝手に銜え込み始めてしまう、、、あ、、、デカいのを自然と迎え入れてしまう、、、ナマで、、、あ、たまん、、ね、、、

そんなことを言いながらも、淡々としたペースを崩さない。

「じゃ、出すぞ、、、あ、やっべ、出る！」

お、おお、おおおおお、え？まだ続きが、、、あああ、奥の奥に侵入してきた、、と思ったら、まるで、ビシャッて、聞こえそうなほど、熱い一噴きを、穴の中に感じる。感じたかと思うと、立て続けに、熱い迸りが���まらない。雄が脈を打ってドクドク。あ、やべぇ、、、穴の奥が熱い、、俺も、あ、あ、イク、イク、イクイク、、、、、♂あ、イクのが止まんねぇ、注入されるたびに、その熱さで、また感じてしまって♂、ほんまのトコロテンや、、、！

その嵌めたままの姿勢から、背中に覆い被さってきて、ゆーーーっくり、奥の迸りを掻き混ぜ、擦り付けてくださる。そのままじっ、、、、とすると、これまたスローペースで、抜こうとするからたまらない。再び、中をじっくり擦られ、俺が、や、、、べ、、またイッちま、、、、う

はずれた瞬間、両足の間の床に、白濁の汁たまりが落ちる。すっげー、あの香りだ。吸い寄せられるように、さっきまで、俺の穴の中で快感を感じていた雄の、ナマの雄に、思わず、しゃぶりついてしまう、、、うめ、、、っ！

民主党政権のほうが明らかに酷いです。「民主党政権の何が悪夢だったのか、きちんとした説明を聞いたことがない!」といった主張は定期的に出現しますが、さすがに「聞いたことない」なんてはずはないので、おそらく「自分の気に入る説明ではない」という意味か、「バカに分かるように説明したところで、そもそもバカは聞いてない」パターンのいずれかとは思いますが。 前回の悪夢のような民主党政権時代を生き抜いてきた者として私が言えるのは、「とにかく、あのような惨劇は二度と繰り返してはならない」ということだけです。 歴史修正は容赦できません。あの時代がいかに酷いものであったか、ご存知ない方もぜひこの機会に知って頂きたいので、支持者から叩かれること覚悟で説明していきますね(過去同様の投稿を複数おこなっていますが、毎回更新改訂しています。今般のバージョンが最新版です)。 個人的に、「悪夢の民主党政権」における大きな問題点は次の3点と考えています。 (1)国家運営能力の欠如により、内政上の失敗を数多く引き起こし、国益を損ない続けた。 (2)拙劣な外交を繰り返し、日米関係をはじめ、周辺諸国からの信頼を大きく毀損した。 (3)総理･閣僚をはじめとする所属議員の度重なる不祥事や、自分たちに都合が悪い情報を隠蔽する体質によって、国民の政治に対する信頼を失い続けた。 では、それぞれどんなことがあったか振り返っていきましょう。これがわずか3年間で起きた出来事です。はらわたが煮えくり返る覚悟で読み進めてください。 (1)国家運営能力の欠如 ・財源の見込みが甘く、政権交代の際に掲げたマニフェストはほぼ未達成。 ・官僚を敵視して排除し、国家業務の停滞と質低下を招いた。 ・金融政策と財政政策が食い違い、タイミングの悪い増税も重なり、景気や株価は低迷を続けた。 ・歴史的水準まで進んだ円高を放置し、デフレを加速させた。 ・法的根拠がないばかりでなく、仕分人の選定や対象事業選定にも透明性を欠いた「事業仕分け」をデフレ時におこない、必要な公共投資を削減。経済を悪化させたにも関わらず、結果に責任を負わなかった。 ・「コンクリートから人へ」という誤った政策により、災害対策を疎かにしたうえ、地域社会を破壊した。 ・「朝鮮王室儀軌引渡」「尖閣事件の船長釈放」「運用3号通知」「国家公務員採用大幅減」など、閣僚たちが思い付きレベルの意思決定を独断でおこない、結果的に我が国の将来に禍根を残した。 ・難民申請から6カ月たった申請者に対し一律に就労できる運用を始めた。 ・法的根拠のない組織を乱立させ、意思決定過程が曖昧になり、指揮命令系統も混乱。 ・法的根拠のない大臣や副大臣を任命したり、個人的な友人を参与に、党職員を内閣官房職員に任命するなど、ルールを無視、公私の別がつかない人事を実施。 ・原発停止、ダム建設中止など、法令根拠や事前協議が必要な決定を手続無視で断行。 (2)外交能力の欠如 ・普天間基地問題が迷走し、沖縄とアメリカの信頼を大きく損なった。 ・来日したオバマ大統領を日本に残したまま、鳩山総理がAPEC首脳会議に出席するためにシンガポールに向かうという非礼行為。 ・尖閣沖漁船衝突事件では、中国側の脅迫や報復に屈して船長を早々に釈放、不起訴に。その後の尖閣諸島国有化でも迷走。 ・領空侵犯が頻発するも、実効的な対策をとらず。 ・防衛上特に秘匿することが必要な「防衛秘密」3万件を破棄。 ・韓国に対しては、通貨スワップ協定締結、朝鮮王室儀軌引渡し、慰安婦問題での「知恵を絞っていきたい」発言など、不用意な譲歩を重ねた。 ・韓国の歴代大統領として初めて、竹島へ李明博大統領が上陸。 ・旧ソ連時代を含めて初めて、北方領土へロシア国家元首が上陸。 ・実現に向けた方策が何ら決まっていない状態で、国連気候変動サミットにおいて「CO2の25%削減」を突如国際公約化。 ・実現の見込みも全くないまま、G8の場で、「太陽光パネルを1000万戸に設置する」と突如国際公約をおこなった。 (3)閣僚･所属議員の度重なる不祥事と情報隠蔽体質 ・鳩山総理⇒偽装献金問題、脱税問題、引退撤回、「最低でも県外」「Trust me」「国民の皆様が聞く耳を持たなくなった」 ・菅(直人)総理⇒外国人献金問題、北朝鮮関係団体献金問題、「顔が見たくなければ法案を通せ」 ・野田総理⇒在日韓国人献金問題、脱税企業献金問題、民団選挙協力お礼発言、「大きな音だね」 ・小沢元代表⇒政治資金規正法違反容疑で強制起訴(無罪判決)、献金虚偽記載で公設秘書が逮捕(有罪判決) ・仙谷官房長官⇒尖閣漁船衝突事件、「自衛隊は暴力装置」 ・赤松農水大臣⇒口蹄疫問題、「だから早く殺せって言ってるのに」 ・松本復興担当大臣⇒「知恵を出さないやつは助けない」「書いたらその社は終わりだから」 ・長妻厚労大臣⇒運用3号独断決定、職務停滞 ・蓮舫行政刷新担当大臣⇒事務所費架空計上問題、国会内ファッション雑誌撮影、「2位じゃダメなんでしょうか?」 ・安住財務大臣⇒「1ドル75.63円の時点で介入を指示した」「学校のプールにガソリンを貯蔵できないか」 ・前原外務大臣⇒外国人から政治献金受領 ・岡田外務大臣⇒「核兵器めぐる日米密約は存在した」 ・川端文科大臣⇒事務所費架空計上問題、キャバクラ費用を政治資金で計上 ・鹿野農水大臣⇒対中不正輸出疑惑、機密漏洩疑惑 ・鉢呂経産大臣⇒(記者の一人に、着ていた防災服をなすりつけ)「放射能つけちゃうぞ」「市街地は人っ子一人いない、まさに『死のまち』」 ・一川防衛大臣⇒「安全保障に関しては素人」 ・柳田法務大臣⇒「答弁は二つだけ覚えておけばいい」 ・山岡消費者担当大臣⇒マルチ商法業者からの献金問題 ・岡崎国家公安委員長⇒議員時代、韓国で日本大使館に対する反日抗議デモに参加 ・中井国家公安委員長⇒議員宿舎にホステス連れ込み&カードキー貸与、式典で秋篠宮ご夫妻に「早く座れよ」とヤジ ・輿石幹事長⇒「間違った情報ばかり流すなら、電波を止めてしまうぞ」「電波が止まったら、お前らリストラどころか、給料をもらえず全員クビになるんだ」 ・小林議員⇒違法献金問題で選対委員長が逮捕、選対幹部が公職選挙法違反で有罪 ・土肥議員⇒竹島領有権放棄を日本側に求める「日韓共同宣言」に署名 ・横峯議員⇒賭けゴルフ、女性暴行、恐喝事件への関与 ・緒方議員⇒「スーパー堤防はスーパー無駄遣い」 ・太田議員⇒「そうでしたっけ? フフフ」 ・原発事故対応（SPEEDI、米実測値の非公表、議事録不作成など）、尖閣ビデオ、北朝鮮ミサイル発射への対応、温暖化対策の家計負担、年金改革の財政試算 など、自分たちに都合が悪い情報は隠蔽し、政府への深刻な不信感を招いた。 ・総理-閣僚間で見解の方向性や意見の不一致が常態化。それらも含め、自民党で同様の事態があれば野党のみならずマスコミも総出で吊し上げられる事態となるが、マスコミも概ね民主党に好意的な報道姿勢。 そんなに民主党時代が良かったなら、下野以降何度でも政権を取り戻すチャンスはあったはず。なのにただ一度もそうなっていないということは、それが民意ということです。私はあんな地獄のような時代は二度と御免です。

So, this is a post that probably interests only me and myself, but I just want to write down my thoughts about this page again. I was just rereading volume 39, chapter 345 or 360 depending how you count, titled “Great Gurus" 大導師 for other reasons. [Well, it’s a very revealing chapter when it comes to Berserk influences over Elden Ring]. But I really like this page and how the conversation turns personal in this moment. It’s a rare moment of calm, and perceived safety: Guts has accomplished the goal of bringing Casca to Elfhelm and that is a different kind of accomplishment than winning a battle in a fighting for life and death situation. The way the elders of Elfhelm ask about Griffith is devoid of hatred or rage. It’s curiosity even in the face of great peril: the world as they knew it is changing and they won’t have a place in the new world that is coming.

“光の鷹”とは 何者なのか [Who is the “Falcon of Light”?]

何を渇望して “欲望の 主護天使”として転生し [What did (he) yearn for and reincarnate as the "Guardian Angel of Desire"?]

世界をこの様に 変貌させてまで 欲するものとは 何なのか 教えては もらえぬかな? [Can you tell me what it is that (he) desire so much that (he) would change the world like this?]

On the other hand, in Guts’s mind the words are the following: やれやれ･･･ あいつ グリフィスへの 執着を振り切って ここまで 辿り着いた はずが･･･ [Yare yare… I thought I had made it this far by shaking off my attachment to (that guy) Griffith].

It’s a moment of reflection for Guts too. This is a page where you can feel how much Guts has been thinking about Griffith’s motivations, and everything else. Looking at the word 執着 (shuuchaku), the official translation went with “obsession” to convey that sense of strong “attachment”: Guts used to cling to Griffith to find a sense of purpose beyond pure survival and that hasn’t completely changed. The resources that Guts has are not infinite and that goes for his “tenacity” as well. Clinging to Griffith was easier than clinging to Casca as a source of motivation for fighting every night, if not for the help of the others he would have not succeeded. The sigil that Flora painted over the brand and that Schierke has kept at reapplying, in addition to the grounding power of Schierke’s presence against the counter effects of the Berserker Armor, the reprieve and shield against the nightmares and the evil spirits, the comfort of seeing Casca unafraid around Farnese and the others, all of it helped Guts and reaching Elfhelm had seemed like a diversion away from Griffith.

There are several different words that are interesting to me in this page. And for all the eroticism that the terms “longing” and “desire” suggest, there is something shifting from pure “thirst”, “craving”, “lust” and “greed” to a more metaphysical dimension because of the very inhuman-yet-reincarnated nature of Griffith. Something about this is still connected to Griffith’s “dreaming eyes”, to “ambition” in the sense of “aspirations”, “hopes” and “dreams”.

Elfheim teachers call Griffith 欲望の主護天使 Guardian Angel of Desire [which is the same of Berserk Volume 3 "Guardian Angel of Desire (5)"] while the God Hand salutes Griffith as 渇望の福王(よ) (Oh) Blessed King of Longing/Desire.

“Desire” as a noun in the instances above and as a verb or noun verb “longing” isn’t written in one same way depending upon who is addressing Griffith and what “title” he is addressed by. This use of different epithets in place of the person’s name (antonomasia) is interesting in itself, especially since Guts is one of the very few who is still calling him by his name with familiarity.

渇望 which is used above as a verb by the elders (what does he desire/yearn for?) and as a noun verb by the God Hand (Blessed King of Longing)

In both cases the kanji 望 is used that interest me here and that illustrates that dimension other than mundane that I mentioned. And for the specific detail of containing the kanji for full moon as well: as in previous posts I started to give examples of how much Griffith and Guts as characters are both tied to the moon.

Looking at the brief notes about etymology on Wiktionary:

Originally written 𦣠, an ideogrammic compound (會意 / 会意): 臣 (“eye”) + 𡈼 (“person standing on the ground”) – a person standing up and looking off into the distance. Later 月 (“moon”) was added to produce 朢. The 臣 component is now written 亡, making the current form a phono-semantic compound (形聲 / 形声, OC *maŋ, *maŋs): phonetic 亡 (OC *maŋ) + semantic 月 + semantic 𡈼.

It’s pretty amazing to read that. It’s not the first time I’ve mentioned one of my favorite chapters of Berserk "Homing" 帰巣, chapter 250 or 265 depending how you count and in that chapter Griffith is framed as exactly that: “a person standing up and looking off into the distance” and at the end of the chapter, when it’s night or later the moon is added as well and I have mused about it before, fascinated by the sense of isolation and at the same time longing for connection that the whole chapter communicates.

So why am I acting all pretentious and saying that my day started with me translating Japanese into German? Because there is a German word that evokes similar feelings that is quite impossible to translate and that is Sehnsucht.

While there is an erotic undertone in this kind of longing, it’s more tied to loss. But in other terms, the loss was inevitable, a too encompassing longing was a prophecy for unfulfillment because of how strong the tension of the desire was in a utopian and perfectionist direction: it could not be content with compromise, for something more important than a castle: if you touch me now… (now that I am weak, that I am no longer me).

WHAT a loaded line. Let’s look at my translation of the first part:

Utena: You’re such a normal girl, Wakaba.

I think this line shows that at this point in the story, Utena has come to terms with the fact that they’re not a “normal” girl, but despite this self-recognition, they still see normalcy as something inherently good that one should strive for. They’re still in the clutches of an idealised status quo. Now let’s look at the next part. A literal translation would be:

Utena: I'm sure you'll make a good bride. (from ohtori.nu)

But like… who says it like this in English anymore? While this phrasing sounds natural in Japanese, it sounds extremely old fashioned and weird in English. How would a native English speaker voice the same thought? I think it would be something like this:

Utena: You’ll probably make some guy very happy. (my translation)

This means the same thing, but sounds much more natural. This is another example of how to be a good translator, you need to be a good writer. You can’t just transpose words of the same meaning, you have to understand the thought behind the words, and then write a new sentence with the same thought behind it, but in the target language.

Wakaba: そうよ。ようやく気づいたの。やっぱり私はあの王子様が好きなんだって…　そして、神様のおかげで王子様もやっと私の事振り向いてくれるようになったのかなって。

Wakaba: You’re right. I finally realised. I do love that prince of mine. And maybe, somehow… Something will finally happen between us.

There are a few things I want to talk about in this passage. First of all, 神様のおかげで. This is a phrase that literally means “because of the kami-sama (/positive)”. It’s often translated as “thanks to God” or “by the grace of God” or “thanks to divine intervention”, but to translate it this way is to erase the nuances of Japanese religious custom and worse, Christianise a non-Christian character.

In Japanese culture, Shinto and Buddhism are seen by the vast majority of people not as religions, but as customs. According to several surveys, approximately 70% of Japanese people specify they have no personal faith, despite statistical research showing that about 70% of Japanese people practice Shinto rites and practices, and another 70% of Japanese people practice Buddhist practices. This is because Japanese people follow these practices as a matter of culture and custom, not of faith. Participation rates in 初詣 (hatsumode), the first shrine visit of the year, are extremely high despite many participants not truly believing in the spiritual aspect. In Japan, Shinto and Buddhism are more about tradition and participation than faith and affiliation. And this is just based on anecdotal evidence from my own life, but I think a lot of Japanese people wouldn’t be able to explain the difference between Shinto and Buddhist belief systems. They all get blended together as part of the culture. Shinto and Buddhism ARE Japanese culture. The teachings of those religions inform the Japanese way of looking at and interacting with the world, despite the spiritual elements not being directly believed by many Japanese people.

On top of that cultural background, the concept of “kami-sama” (or just “kami”) are not God, or even gods. Generally, Shinto kami are more spirit than god, with kami said to inhabit everything from ancient trees to ramen bowls. In a way, they’re like the essence of the world. One could even say they are “the universe”, in the same way that secular English speakers might say “the universe is trying to tell me something”.

I don’t believe this line is showing that Wakaba is a believer in Shinto. It’s just showing that she believes that the universe is rotating in a favourable way for her. The “kami-sama” that she mentions are not literal kami or gods, but simply an indication that, through no direct action of her own, something good is happening to her (I have confirmed this interpretation with my dad, who is Japanese and was raised in Japan).

Wew… okay. Onto the second thing I wanted to talk about in this passage LOL

The final translation for this line was:

Something will finally happen between us.

But a more literal translation would be:

He’s finally looking my way.

As Anya rightfully pointed out, you could read this as a setup for Utena being Wakaba’s prince. Certainly it’s all there in the text — Wakaba did repeatedly insist that “it’s not like that” between her and Tatsuya, she often treats Utena like a boyfriend, and it would even explain her getting flustered after Utena pressures her to reveal who her “prince” is at the lunch table. And let’s not forget Tatsuya’s line “I noticed that she looks the happiest when she's with you, Utena.”

Some of this exchange had to be rewritten to completely avoid using any singular pronouns, lest we spoil the reveal at the end. For example, this line had to be changed from a focus on the prince to an indirect line about the both of them. I think the line still captures the general sentiment, but it’s a shame it had to change so much from the original phrasing!

The Nature of Twilight Magic and how it affects the World of Twilight Princess

In The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, the Light World is overtaken by an alien magic known as twilight. Twilight magic, or shadow magic (影の魔力), first appears chronologically in the series when a group of magic wielders appeared in Hyrule, entering the ongoing conflict over the kingdom. 

人々の中に、魔術に長けた者達が現れ強力な魔力によって聖地を治めようとしたしかし、神は我ら光の精霊を遣わしその者達の巨大なる魔力を　封じこませたのだそして、その魔力こそが黒き力・・・影の結晶石である

Among the people, people who were skilled in magic appeared and tried to rule the holy land with their powerful magical power. However, the Gods sent us spirits of light to seal away their enormous magical power. That Magical power is black power...the Crystal Stone of Shadow.

We learn that these invaders used a powerful magic known as the Fused Shadow, or, per the Japanese release, the Crystal Stone of Shadows (影の結晶石). In this conflict, they almost emerged the victors, until the Goddesses of Hyrule commanded the Light Spirits to put a stop to their plans. As a punishment for their crimes, these magic wielders were sealed away within the Twilight Realm via the Mirror of Twilight, and the Fused Shadow was sealed within three dungeons across Hyrule. 

However, this doesn’t tell us what exactly twilight magic, or shadow magic, “is,” or how it affects the Light World. Let’s take a closer look at the information we’re given in the game. 

While meeting with the Light Spirit, Faron, he has this to tell us about the Fused Shadow: 

この森の奥にある神殿には、黒き力が眠っていますそれは、古代に我ら光の精霊によって封じ込められた禁断の力本来それは、光の世界の者達が決して触れてはならぬもの・・・しかし、影の王よりこの世界を救うにはその力が必要となるでしょう・・・もし、貴方がその力を望むならこの森の奥にある神殿に向かいなさい

In the temple deep in the forest lies a black power, a forbidden power that was sealed away by us spirits of light in ancient times, a power that those of the world of light must never touch... however, you will need it to save this world from the King of Shadows... If you want that power, go to the temple deep in the forest.

Faron (Twilight Princess) - Translated by Sidier

Faron tells us point blank that the Fused Shadow that he and the other Light Spirits sealed away long ago must never be touched by those who reside in the light world. This means little to us now, but his reason for saying this is shown in detail before long. Upon reaching Death Mountain, we learn the plight of the gorons; their patriarch, Darbus, has been corrupted by the Fused Shadow piece that was enshrined deep within the Goron Mines.

精霊様より託されている大事な宝をお護りせねばならねぇからな・・・だが、手に取ろうとダルボスが宝に触れた途端・・・おぞましい異形の姿に化けちまいやがったゴロ！それから奴は見境なく暴れてもうメチャクチャさ・・・噴火も一層　激しくなったゴロ・・・ワシらは必死の力で奴を山の奥深くに封印した

As soon as Darbus touched the treasure, he was transformed into a demon. This would naturally lead one to assume that the Fused Shadow, as well as all shadow magic, is thus demonic in nature, similar to the magic utilized by the demons in the series such as Ganondorf. However, this isn’t exactly the case.

Later in the game, Zant uses a different Shadow Crystal to turn Link into a wolf in the light world. This magic isn’t just regular shadow magic, such as that used by Midna or the Fused Shadow, but something else. Zelda and Midna both make note of this. 

これは、今までの影の魔力とは違う何か別の邪悪なる力・・・

This is some kind of evil power, different from the shadow magic we've seen up until now…

Instead of being regular shadow magic, we learn that it’s actually shadow magic that has been infused with the malevolent powers of Ganondorf, which were given to Zant. Zant then created his own brand of shadow magic using Ganondorf’s demonic powers, and this was the magic he has been using against Link and Midna throughout the game, such as the Shadow Crystal and Black Fog we see at the Palace of Twilight. 

この黒い霧は、ザントが魔力で作り出した光を吸い取る影の結晶・・・精霊の光を奪い、ハイラルをトワイライトに変え��いた張本人なんだ

This black mist is a shadowy crystal that Zant created with his magic power to suck out the light… he is the one who was stealing the light of the spirits and turning Hyrule into Twilight.

Midna (Twilight Princess) - Translated by Sidier

A running theme that may be apparent by now is that shadow magic commonly appears in the form of crystals - while not necessarily pertinent to explaining exactly how shadow magic works, it is an interesting detail nonetheless. This also heavily suggests that the Shadow Insects that stole the light from the Light Spirits of Hyrule were made of Zant’s shadow crystals - after all, they were designed to absorb light.

Regardless, we can see from the above text regarding Zant’s own brand of shadow magic that it’s altogether reductive to consider shadow magic synonymous with demonic magic. And of course this would be the case, given that the Sols - the “suns” of the Twilight Realm - restore the land back to its original form, before Zant corrupted it, and began turning its population into Shadow Beasts.

While it’s useful to know that shadow magic isn’t inherently the same as demon magic, why does it have a corruptive effect on those who reside in the world of light, then? Zant, speaking for Ganondorf, and later Midna, potentially gives us a clue as to why:

そして、我が神の望みは一つ

And my God wants one thing. Turn both light and shadow into a single darkness!

While shadow magic isn’t evil, it isn’t “good” either. When characters like Darbus or Yeta come into contact with shadow magic, it corrupts them into demons. While it’s not darkness in the same sense as Ganondorf’s magic, it affects the light world in an adverse way that it - effectively - creates a unique type of darkness born from the mixing of light and shadow. The light world’s light also has an adverse effect on the denizens of the Twilight Realm, as demonstrated by Lanayru’s light magic nearly killing Midna, who is only saved by Zelda’s grace. 

光と影は、表裏一体・・・どちらが欠けても

成り立ちはしないもの・・・

Light and shadow are two sides of the same coin.

Neither can exist without the other.

As Zelda says, the light world and the Twilight Realm rely on each other to exist. However, the blending of the two - the interaction of shadow magic with those who reside in the light - results in catastrophe, and transforms those who are affected by it into demons.

In summary, shadow magic, the magic utilized by the magic wielders who sought to dominate Hyrule, which was passed down to their descendants, the Twili, is not innately demonic, and even has its own equivalent of “light” in the form of the Sols. That being said, it is still innately corruptive to those who reside in the light and turns them into demons and causes demons to gather, effectively creating its own, unique kind of “darkness” in the process.

All that being said, how do these transformations manifest throughout the game? We know characters like Darbus and Yeta were corrupted by shadow magic, but what about, say, other bosses in Twilight Princess? Is it possible they’re also just demonic transformations born from the interaction between the light world and shadow magic? Interestingly, every regular dungeon boss in the game except Stallord features the same term in its title; “Twilit,” or, in the Japanese release, Awoken (覚醒). The fact Stallord doesn’t have this title separates it from these other bosses; this makes sense, given that Stallord is not a creature in possession of the Fused Shadow or a Mirror Shard, unlike the other bosses. Given this connection in the titles of the bosses, it’s likely that the bosses are all intended to have a shared trait or aspect unifying them. Similar to Darbus and Yeta, it’s likely that this unifying trait is that they were creatures of the Light World who were transfigured by shadow magic.

The first boss we face in the game is Diababa. This creature is a massive three-headed plant, clearly resembling a Deku Baba. Given that the Forest Temple is also home to countless Deku Babas and Baba Serpents, it’s incredibly likely that Diababa is a Deku Baba that came into contact with the Fused Shadow piece that was left in the Forest Temple. If we want to be pedantic, it’s possible it’s a Baba Serpent; however, the lack of the forked tongue and the more traditional head shape of the other two heads suggests that it’s probably just a regular Deku Baba.

The third boss we face, Morpheel, is another interesting case of what appears to be a light world being further corrupted by the Fused Shadow. At first glance, it seems completely alien in appearance, with no close resemblance to any creature seen thus far in the game, demon or otherwise. However, a comparison reveals that its “face” is remarkably similar to that of a Bombfish, a fish that is commonly found throughout Lakebed Temple. To further this comparison, it even spits out Bombfish, suggesting that they’re its progeny. Given these facts, it’s likely that Morpheel is a heavily transformed Bombfish that came into contact with the Fused Shadow.

The fifth boss we encounter, Blizzeta, is the corrupted form of Yeta. While it’s never explicitly stated that the Mirror of Twilight is made of shadow magic ala the Fused Shadow, the sages do give us this warning: 

だが、心するがよい

かけらには魔力が宿っていることを・・・

But be warned, there is magic in the pieces.

Furthermore, we already observe the mirror corrupt Yeta into Blizzeta, which Midna notes is due to the mirror’s power, and Yeta even reveals that the mirror has resulted in her falling ill and draws demons to it, similar to the Fused Shadow.

でも、あの鏡が家に来てから病気になったり、魔物が現れたり悪いことばかり・・・

But since that mirror came to my house, I got sick, demons appeared… Bad things happen...

With this knowledge, we can then reasonably deduce that the next two bosses that are in possession of Mirror Shards have also been corrupted, similar to Yeta.

The next boss is in the Temple of Time, Armogohma. Given its unique appearance even amongst other Gohmas, it’s likely that it was a regular Gohma that came into contact with a Mirror Shard and was corrupted. Notably, while its “true form” is that of a smaller spider, its namesake armor appears organic in nature; it has urticating hairs on its abdomen, a spinneret, pedipalps, and can even lay eggs. Given the laser ability and its strong resemblance to the lasers utilized by other Beamos, it’s possible that the Mirror Shard turned a Gohma into some hybrid between a Gohma and the other technology found lying around the Temple of Time. 

Finally, the fourth Mirror Shard is found within the claws of the Twilit Dragon, Argorok. If the name wasn’t explicit enough that it has ties to Kargoroks, the vulture-like bird enemies found throughout Twilight Princess, they are also an incredibly common enemy to find flying through the City in the Sky. Because of these facts, it’s very likely that the dragon was just an ordinary Kargorok that stumbled onto a Mirror Shard and was corrupted into a fire breathing monstrosity. 

In sum, here is what the transformations caused by the Fused Shadow and Mirror Shards look like: 

These transformations exemplify why the Light Spirits are adamant that those who dwell in the light are not to come in contact with shadow magic; it has a corruptive impact, that, even for demons, can turn them into monstrous beasts that make their previous forms pale in comparison. While the departure of Midna and the breaking of the Mirror of Twilight was certainly a bittersweet ending, it was for the best; light and shadow are two sides of the same coin, but it’s for the best that they don’t mingle.

もう、さっきの比じゃないくらいに、ぎゅんぎゅんなってしまう。

そして、僕の両方の大腿の下側に、マッサージやさん入られて、局部刺激。

こんな色の、僕、出るんや、って、びっくりするような、きれいな白色のが、だばだば出た。

これ、ゲイマッサージじゃないのかな？って思ってたけど、施術を行うだけやから、そういうくくりじゃないです、みたいな感じなのかなって思った。

でも、僕が思うに、ゲイマッサージであるかないかとかはさておき、心から気持ちよくしてもらえる、最高のマッサージだった。

最終回 DAIMA20話「ゼンカイ」感想

終わっちゃったあ😭

お疲れさまでした！すごい大団円風のいい雰囲気で締められましたね。

ピッコロさんが頭3回叩く前にやられてしまい、誰がやるんだろと思ってたらまさかのクウがトドメ役。性格いいし頭��いし王にまで選ばれちゃうし、もうおまえがナンバーワンだよ…クウ、おまえもZ戦士にならないか？

最終的にアリンスのしもべというより、不器用な女王様を導く王子様感がありました。一生幸せに暮らしてくれ。ゴマーは受刑の前に寿命をみんなに返してあげて😄

そして悟空のSS4みたいな変身ですが、なんとブウ戦後に修行してこっそり手に入れてた力だったらしい。そうだったの！？既に自力でなってたの！？正式に「超サイヤ人4」という文言が出てきたけど、今後4の扱いどうなるんでしょうね。(GT)とか(DAIMA)って表記になるのかな。そういえばくっつき虫結局使わなかったな！！！

よく分かんなかったネバ爺は、かつての平和な魔界を取り戻して同胞たちに戻ってきてほしかったみたいです。だから最初ゴマーに協力するふりをしてたんですねー。

てか今話、通常悟空のビジュが毎秒かわいすぎてやばかったのは私だけでしょうか。ED後のお店のくだりとか特に。ゴマーに実刑99年宣告するピッコロさんの猫口もかわいかった。

…ミニの時より大人に戻ってからのほうがかわいくねえか！？

あーーこのすばらしい作画で悟飯とビーデルさんも見たかったよ〜〜😭😭完全に最後まで存在を抹消されてたよ〜〜〜〜😭😭😭😭

スパヒで活躍させたしええやろの精神？その…バトルじゃなくても、画面に映ってくれるだけで大変命が助かるんですが……だめですかそうですか…

良いところもツッコみたいところもたくさんあったけど、もう終わったのでぜんぶ浄化されました。

先生が亡くなられて1年、今後公式がどういう展開をしていくのか未知ですが、これからも末永くDBが続いていってくれることを願ってます。ありがとうございました！
