Last night I rewatched Hodgepodge Dream World (夢世界ホッジポッジ) from Studio Pierrot. Some people refer to this as the pilot for Magical Fairy Persia (魔法の妖精 ペルシャ), which I guess is true in the sense that it's the short film Studio Pierrot made on their way to the concept for Persia but it has very few elements in common besides the kappa (河童) characters.

Ultimately, I gloss it separately from Persia and I do count it as a Showa era magical girl story because that's when it was created, even though it didn't get released to the wider public until its inclusion as an extra in a DVD box set during the Heisei era.

I live for the winged helmet the more tomboyish character wears when transformed. I would love to be able to see what a more fully realized version of this could have been!

このようにプロジェクトＸのせいで当社の混乱は悪化している。ＮＨＫには老人の中にはおとぎ話をおとぎ話として受け取ろうとしない人がいることに留意して番組を制作していただきたい。そして、かつて番組に夢中になった60代70代を「モーレツな労働は正しかった」という誤解をまねくような描き方で変に勇気づけないでほしい。プロジェクトＸで描かれる、血と汗と涙でつくられた熱意と団結があれば勝てるという勘違いが、日本が世界で勝てなくなった理由だ。だからこそ、僕や僕よりも若い世代は、ふたたび点灯した迷惑な地上の星たちを潰していかなければならないのだ。
