☆ BAKIT MAHAL PA RIN KITA? — chapter forty-one !

everyone knew that sophia doesn’t like to talk about her past, especially if it’s connected with yn. the same girl who used to play with her when they were younger, in other words her childhood best friend— the girl she loved. their break up was honestly never expected by anyone, one fight led all of it to end. sophia knows to let go of things quickly, a break up wouldn't be an exception. and yn? well, she lingers. always trying to get sophia's attention, all while trying to deny that she still loves her. maybe she just loves the girl too much to forget about her, or she just misses the ghost of the girl who used to know. well, how long will yn keep chasing the girl who won't even spare a glance at her? will she get sophia back or will she find someone new?

SWITCH UP

“hey yn, keep the bass drum like that— yeah, that rhythm. woah, you're actually keeping up with us today.” beomgyu feigning amazement spoke, as he nodded in approval at the drummer— who had been trying her best to play well specifically on this exact date and time more.

“i’m always like this?” yn replies, shrugging as she keeps on playing as her friends look at one another. “yeah, totally not.” ningning starts, as she laughs. clearly knowing the reason why. “i've watched your rehearsals long enough to know the difference, buddy.” she adds.

“guess you really want to impress your guest, huh?” minji speaks up, teasing. “whatever makes you sleep at night, child.” yn just calmly replies as if it wasn't true, but her glances at her phone from time to time said otherwise. “yeah, you aren't slick, you know.” the younger tells her.

“don't make fun of her, dude. she's clearly in love.” yunjin coos at her, making yn shake her head. “do you not get the memo of taking things slow?” she tells her, making everyone laugh. “i don't think y'all need to since you're already down bad.” beomgyu says, the others agreeing.

“i am not? i just— whatever, let's just get back to practicing.” yn dismisses the topic. “your actions seriously tell how much you really trust her, though. you also seem to like her company a lot.” ningning shrugs as she recalls the times yn talked about aiah.

“because i do. so shut up and focus, she's arriving soon.” she tells them, making all of them squeal. “when's the wedding? she literally suits you so well.” yunjin asks daydreaming, as beomgyu shakes his head. “okay, enough of that, miss lover girl. let's keep practicing.”

“alright, sir twinkle. what's the next song on the gig's list?” yunjin asks, making the male check the list. “third to the last song is... oh great, yn's song! falling for you by the nineteen seventy-five.” he says, all eyes on her. “what are you guys waiting for? let's hear it!” ningning exclaims.

“okay, pause. i have to head out for a second, aiah's here.” yn speaks up, after finishing the song as she stood up from her seat. “i'm excited. we're meeting her wife guys, this is reality.” yunjin rambles with ningning. “can someone slap me? is this actually real? wait, oh my god.”

“calm down you idiots. it's not like it's the end of the world of yn marrying wonbin or something.” minji shakes her head at them. “that is disgusting.” yn walks to the door. “wrong time to mention him, minji.” beomgyu tells her. “don't bail out on us, alright?” he looks at yn.

“as if i will? just don't be weird, she likes the band a lot.” she says, heading out the door as she could clearly her ningning's voice squeal. “that just made it a whole lot better!” the drummer walks the halls of the university, making her way to the main gate for a familiar person.

then, she sees her— just got out from the bus she was on, smiling so softly and warmly at her once she spots her as well. yn doesn't think too long and immediately heads to her with open arms. catching her with a welcoming embrace, making aiah melt in her arms.

“i'm glad you could make it. i hope there wasn't any complications coming here?” yn asks, feeling how well the other girl fit perfectly in her embrace. “nope, not at all. not when you already toured me around here.” aiah replies, as she pulls away soon.

“that's good to know, let's head inside? the others are already going crazy just to meet you.” yn tells her, guiding her inside the campus. “really? i'm flattered.” aiah replies. “remember my warning? they're weird so yeah, try and keep up.” she told her, as she lets out an exhale.

“i don't mind, i'm weird too. wait, do you think i'm weird?” aiah rambles, as she walks with yn side by side heading to the music room. “yeah, but so what? everybody's weird. if you're weird, i'm weird.” she replies with a shrug. “what's the big bag for?” yn adds.

taking the bag from her to carry it herself. “just a gift, i thought i shouldn't come empty handed so i bought some sweets, though i didn't know whether they liked krispy kreme or crumble cookie. so i bought both!” she casually tells yn. “what— aiah, you didn't have to.”

“but i wanted to, yn. trust me.” she tells her, offering her a sweet smile. “i— just, at least tell me next time.” yn replies, as she heads to open the music room door. “tell me if you get uncomfortable, okay?” she says, as aiah nods— immediately getting greeted by squealing.

“oh my god, hello aiah— i'm yunjin! you can just call me jen!” yunjin immediately greets her first with a hug, followed by ningning. “yunjin— don't hog her! hi, my name's ningning! i hope yn's treating you well.” making yn embarrassed. “please shut up.” shoving her away.

“hi! she is, don't worry. i should be thankful she even cares for me, honestly!” aiah tells the two overly excited girl and yn clearly sees how she doesn't mind the mess or how her friends really is. she's comfortable with it. “my, i haven't properly introduced myself, haven't i?” aiah says.

“you don't need to. yn already told us a lot about you!” beomgyu speaks up, as he approaches with minji. aiah immediately gets shy but shakes his hand. “you must be beomgyu? i hope it was nothing embarrassing.” the girl said. “not at all! she talks about you if hearts in her eyes!”

minji tells her with a smile, as aiah laughed. “don't— no, don't talk about that. let's settle down, okay?” yn tells them, as she puts down the bag. “i brought you guys something to eat, i figured you guys were hungry after practicing.” aiah tells them, making squeals erupt again.

“that's so thoughtful of you, i need a photoshoot collab immediately!” ningning tells her after grabbing a donut. “wedding first! when is it?” yunjin says, as minji elbows her. “a wedding is a bit too sudden. i'd like to court yn first before anything.” aiah says, as she sits down.

“you know, take things slow for her comfort. i mean, i don't want to rush her at all. since i've already said it, do i have your guy's permission to court her?” aiah drops the bomb, as silence was heard making her baffled. “sorry, do i talk too much?” she adds, confused.

then, screams suddenly filled the music room as a frozen yn looks at her, blinking. did she hear that right? “of course you do! we're happy to know that!” yunjin fake cries. “yn, you're getting older.. i'm proud.” the youngest speaks as if she was older than the drummer.

“court me— you're serious?” yn mumbles, facing the girl beside her. “yes i am, yn. i mean it, i'll pursue you even if it takes me long. so, can i court you?” aiah takes her hand into hers, while the others were too busy devouring the food to ruin their moment. “i— of course.” yn replied.

“i hope you won't regret your decision.” yn adds, squeezing her hands. it didn't took long until everyone was close with aiah, that is until the music room door burst open. “yn! are you here!? we need to—” yoonchae looks around until she falls silent.

“hey yoonchip, want to come eat with us?” yn stands up to greet her, as yoonchae peeks past her to the unfamiliar girl inside the room. “who is—” she speaks until she gets hugged by the girl. “hello! you must be yoonchae, yn always tells me stories about you.” aiah greets her.

“yeah, that's me— and you must be?” yoonchae mutters, confused but returns the hug with a glance at yn. “i'm maraiah, aiah is fine. i hope we get along!” she tells her before heading back to sit down, making yoonchae grab yn. “yn, mom.. don't tell me.” yoonchae mumbles.

“i've been meaning to introduce her to you. good thing you came here, this is the band's first time meeting her too.” yn says, smiling. “no, wait. listen—” the younger gets cut off. “yoonchae, i brought some food! come and grab some!” aiah calls out for her, as yoonchae looks.

“i want to get to know you, yn seems to see you as her child a lot. it's quite sweet!” the cebuana adds, while yoonchae malfunctions before smiling widely. “okay, i change my mind. she's nice. i might have her to myself for now, yn!” yoonchae says, making yn chuckle.

I can't believe it's been almost a year (come August 5th) since I posted my pride and joy, and you can tell everybody!!!! (Fyi, I always sing the title in my head with Flo Rida's voice and not Elton's or Ewan McGregor's 😔)

Sometimes I feel I make writing too hard for myself, but adding the constraints of a social media format -- and later the word count -- made me be more conscientious in my storytelling and learn to hold on to certain details *cough* to make the biggest impact :)))))) but also alex would've hidden clues in plain sight, such as the tweet in the summary, and plugging in the foreshadowing for the reread value was also a great time :))))

I don't think I've stopped thinking about this one since I've posted it! But there are a few small tweaks and edits I want to make bc there are lines that I feel sound more like me than they do Alex. Mostly word choices here and there that have bugged me with time, nothing major!

Additionally, I do wanna add the images/memes i describe BUT I do not want to part with my 7777 word count. If I ever do, it's because I'd be writing another chapter in that world in a reunion/benefit concert performance or something, but it's not a thing I want to write without a solid storyline in mind... OR the other scene i think about is when they're attending the grammys as secret husbands and the hidden moments the super six would have! But I'd have to sacrifice the social media format to give it justice, i fear :(

I can't believe it's almost been a year though!!! This feels like a whole lifetime ago and I'm still super proud of it! It's the most effortlessly creative I've ever felt by miles and miles!!!

I like how you made Mutagen like it's kryptonite to the turtles, a cool(and I'm also guessing unintentional) callback to the character trait of muckman.

Oh! I didn’t even think of the relation it had to Muckman. It was actually accidentally base it on kryptonite 😅

At the time I was writing that, I was binging the My Adventures with Superman show, so that concept was very fresh in my brain. It’s not exactly the same of course, but it’s like a reverse kryptonite (instead taking away their powers, it amplifies them, but like WAY too much). It’s definitely still incredibly dangerous, but for different reasons I guess.
