Yesterday, Nader @abdalsalam2000 witnessed three people martyred and multiple injured from an explosion in his displacement site in Gaza. You can read his description of what happened in more detail in his post here. It’s not the first time, and it unfortunately most likely won’t be the last time he has to see something like this. This is the reality of his life in Gaza under the occupation. No one should have to experience this, and especially not a seventeen year old. Nader has lost many relatives and his home in the past one and a half years, and has been displaced more than ten times. All of this at only seventeen years old.

He is raising money to support his family of eight, which includes one year old Iman and his father Ahmed who has cancer. It’s very urgent to get Ahmed the healthcare he needs and evacuate as soon as the border opens, especially because he hasn’t had access to treatment for a long time because of the destruction of the healthcare system. Food is also extremely expensive in Gaza now.

In any country where livelihoods are covered in blood, there is no country like Gaza where anyone who wants to eat flour eats it covered in blood. The aid that comes to us, which is supposed to arrive safely, is being killed by the occupation forces who secure those trucks. The reason is to create chaos and disorder. Yesterday, at 2:00 a.m., in complete darkness, I went to the aid trucks to bring flour. There were over 100,000 people waiting for the aid. The first 20 trucks entered because of the large number of people. Unfortunately, we couldn't get anything the first time, but I didn't want to go back until I got some flour. I stayed until 4:00 a.m. waiting for the second group of trucks to enter, among hundreds of thousands of people. I didn't expect to be able to take a bag of flour. I did, but after several attempts and several times, I narrowly escaped death. I was almost run over by the wheels of the giant truck. People were crushed in front of me. I managed to pick up a bag of flour and went to the beach carrying that 25-kilogram bag. I didn't feel its weight because I felt like I was happily carrying the whole world in my hands. It was a wonderful and terrifying feeling at the same time. There was shooting by the Zionists and shelling and I was injured in my foot and it still hurts to this day. In what country would it be reasonable for your 17-year-old son, brother or friend to go and see these horrors? It was truly terrifying and I can't believe I'm even alive. I don't think any of you have experienced these horrors to this day. Please, I don't want to go through this again. I want to go to the mall to buy flour in peace, not go to the death trucks to pick it up. Please donate and help me.

I've been trying to write this post for two days on and off - it's difficult to describe the way I felt first seeing the photos of Maram and Ahmed's family. You can look at these children taking the world in and know they're seeing it all for what must feel like the first time - something new in everything. And I can't imagine how they're processing this - I feel like when you're that age, every small thing is a world in itself, so how must destruction all around you on this scale feel?

In the photo on the left, Habiba sits with her family at her third birthday party. This was a year ago - she's four years old now, and in the photo on the right sits with her brother Kareem - he is only two years old - looking at what can only be described as destruction as far as the eye can see.

She has two little brothers. Kareem is the second youngest, and then there's Muhammad, who is just barely one year old. Their parents, Maram and Ahmed, adore them.

This family is now facing constant bombardment. They are in danger every day and night. Maram has fallen sick with a severe liver disease which is impacting her ability to feed baby Muhammad - he's now malnourished.

They are desperately in need of supplies and, if it is available to them, evacuation. It can't be available to them unless we help them in achieving their fundraising goal.

today, my friend Alaa @alaajshaat shared more pictures of her living situation and the contrast between the before and after is especially harrowing.

The irritating thing about Hardison and Parker—

Well, there were plenty of irritating things about Hardison, too many to name, and at least two about Parker. Hers were the way she ate when she was feeding herself (Elliott still wasn’t over the time he’d walked in on her sprinkling Frosted Flakes onto a piece of pizza. “What?” she’d said. “It’s fortified with vitamins and minerals”) and the way she threw herself into danger even when Elliott was right there to take the hit. But the most annoying thing about them as a couple was that they had no shame, about anything.

“Anniversary cruise next month,” Hardison announced when Elliott slunk into headquarters on Monday morning, nursing a headache he’d been assured was not a concussion. “You coming?”

“I—am I coming,” Elliott repeated. “To your anniversary cruise?”

“Of course he is,” said Parker, dropping upside down out of the ceiling. “We already hacked into his calendar, he’s free.”

Elliott pinched the bridge of his nose, temples pounding. “Taking too many isn’t good for you,” said Elliott.

Nader told me that usually he would go visit his family for Eid, but this year is different.

Nader @abdalsalam2000 is only seventeen years old, and has been working hard every day to fundraise for his family which includes his father Ahmed who has cancer and urgently needs treatment, and his one year old niece Iman. After being displaced more than nine times, they were finally able to return to their home in Northern Gaza after the ceasefire came into effect in january, only to find their childhood home and everything they had destroyed.

I’ve been helping Nader with his campaign for several months, and I want to tell you that he is a very kind, hard working young man with many dreams and things he wants to do, that the occupation has taken from him. He’s only seventeen and should be in school, but he has to spend his time trying to ask for help online instead just for the survival of his family. This is difficult work, but of course he does it because he loves his family. Him and his family deserve food, safety, and happiness. Please show him that we care about them and that we are listening and see what is happening to them

I am Ola Ferwana from Palestine ,Gaza. I'm a mother of 3 kids Yamen, Qusai and Mira. My husband travelled to Egypt to get medicines before 2 days of the war 7 of October on Gaza and he was stuck in Egypt until this moment.

I faced very great challenges and responsibilities of my three children in the absence of my husband, as he had traveled and the crossing was closed and we could not see each other.

This is our street of my house, the Israeli occupation damaged all the houses.

I have delivered a girl baby,Mira , through the war, She was 10 months old and my husband didn't see her until this moment.

Yamen was 7 years old, and his simplest dream was to complete the first grade at school, but his school was completely destroyed. He lost the most beautiful thing that he was happy with and enjoyed that he had reached this stage.

Qusai is 5 years old, and until this moment I do not have the courage to tell him that his kindergarten was also destroyed, the first place and refuge in which he was happy, but in this war he lost everything beautiful. He lost his father’s hug, which was his only refuge when he slept at night, telling him his daily story to fall asleep safety.

Mira, my daughter, who had never seen an hour or a moment devoid of fear, came into this world and was surprised by a war that destroyed many, many things. It destroyed her house and her room, which I was waiting for as I prepared and brought her all the beautiful clothes and colorful dresses she needed. She was surprised by the sound of missiles. She could not sleep because of it. My husband hopes to get a smile and a hug from her daughter Which he had been waiting for some time.

We lack of the basic human needs, no food no electricity no water. We were poisoned and infected because of the unhealthy water that we drink.

My three children and I had to be hospitalized. We suffered from liver dysfunction as a result of malnutrition, widespread diseases, and recurring infection.

During this period, I felt remorseful about how difficult it is for a mother to see her children sick and unable to treat them because she is also very sick.

The Rafah border crossing, which is the only way to escape from the war, is closed now.

Who wants a really sad Leverage headcanon?

Was re-watching the Gimme a K Street Job -- Season 5 Episode 5 -- and a couple of things stood out to me.

1) Nate says "Let's go steal some congresspeople", and then sends everyone on the team (except Parker, who's being a cheer coach) out to con one of their targets. But it feels like there's a profound mismatch in who gets which mark.

For the "not like other girls" feminist congresswoman who's inclined to dismiss cheer as worthless and demeaning, you need Eliot to come in looking like a man who very much knows what does and does not count as a sport, and be his tiny angry respect-women-juice self about how regardless of what you think of their choice of clothing they are working as hard as any other athlete and they deserve safety as much as anyone else. But instead they sent Hardison.

For the "Yes I am very busy and important; admire me" chairman, you need Sophie, who is better than anyone else on the planet at making you feel admirable when you're doing what she wants, and scummy and low when you're not doing what she wants. But instead they sent Eliot.

For the "Look I am trying, but I need corn subsidies or I won't be able to do anything else" newbie congressman, Hardison could happily have gone on an infinitely recurring series of fetch quests until he sees the place where they loop around and bottom out and every problem solves every other problem. But instead they sent Sophie.

2) Eliot struggles the most, so Nate works with him the most, but he doesn't help him out hardly at all; he just keeps saying, "So what's your next play?" and then revealing that he's already anticipated Eliot's next play and has all the materials in place to enact it. And of course, they do eventually get the dude on board, and it all works out, but afterwards, Eliot tells Nate, "I trust that some time soon you'll tell me why you had me slogging through all that when you already knew how to hook him."

And of course, knowing what we now know about how season 5 ends, it makes sense that Nate is trying to train the OT3 to work without him, looking for his replacement.

Except.

If the plan is to fuck off into the sunset with Sophie, then why did he throw Sophie into this uncomfortable not-my-wheelhouse scenario?

No, Nate's preparing the entire team to carry on without him. He's forcing them to learn how to plan, learn different ways of approaching problems, to think about bigger pictures and approach them strategically.

I think Nate just got the first diagnosis of the disease that's finally going to kill him. And again, we -- the audience -- now know that he's going to live for many years after that initial diagnosis. But he doesn't know that, at this point. He knows he's tested positive, and he knows it's eventually going to kill him, and he has no idea how long he has.
