i feel like people really expect rural areas (especially in the south) to be 100% conservative, redneck, racist, homophobic, etc. but my experience has literally been the opposite.. i’m pretty sure the percentage of gay/trans ppl in my home town is higher than several cities in TX. there’s an insane amount of lesbians
