“Whoa, where am I?” Caleb woke with a start, hand automatically reaching for the axe that he always kept near his bedside, only to find it missing. Momentarily, he panicked, unsure what had wakened him but feeling naked without his favorite weapon, and in a strange place no less, but then his eyes came to rest on a familiar face that filled him with reassurance. “Lia... where am I? And where’s my axe?” He didn’t seem bothered by the fact that he was naked from the waist up, because right now, the axe was the more pressing issue.

My family's pureblood as far back as we can trace - it's not my fault I don't get all these strange muggle references. If somebody's trying to come on to me, using pickup lines I don't understand really isn't the best way to go about things.

Very kind of you, Amelia. Good to know the rest of my face is flawless enough to distract from my nose.

I mean, it's not like I didn't know this was going to happen to me, and I honestly can't say I regret ending up this way. I'm a beater - getting your nose broken at least once a season is just part of the job description. And hell, I got off easy compared to a lot of beaters out there.

Still, it's a bit annoying.

I think they probably just assume that somebody as handsome, talented, and charming as me can't possibly have it all.

Doesn't stop them hating me. I'm really not kidding, Amelia - magical creatures despise me. There's just something about me. I think the only reason my owl doesn't attack me on sight is that she's too stupid to recognize me as a threat.
