Basically what if ganon puppet Zelda became a real girl . She works for the bargainer statues because they made her alive. Before the confrontation with Link in Hyrule Castle she was somewhat sentient but not alive haha.

Anyway she calls herself Sheik because she is uncreative!!! Also I was feeling lazy ahhahhhhhahhhahahaha. Ha. Anyway I have no idea what to cal this au so lemme know if you have good ones

AU where everything it's the same but "Gilbert"/"Prussia" takes the GDR representation without any previous memories--similar to what's likely the situation of HRE -> Germany, except adult to adult.

Inevitably, his personality it's not the same as before: he is not the same person anymore. At first most fellow nation-people keep calling him "Gilbert" out of habit, but he has a new human name (perhaps woke up knowing it, or choose it after a while), becoming more and more frustrated with them: "I am not him! Sorry but he'll not come back!"

...A sad AU or Divergence for everyone involved overall :)

OH HONEY LET'S GO!

Starting off strong with FrUk! This one and PruHun were my two biggest OTPs back in the fandom's heyday. And FrUk is actually the pairing that I think helped me get over a lot of my internalized homophobia growing up. There's such a strong, intense, touching, volatile, and overall complicated history between these two. So much so that I can't bring myself to fully analyze all of it. There's just so much.

I think the fanart is a large part of what got me to ship these two because a lot of it is quite beautiful. But it's also one of those pairings where there's just so much history there between them, not just as countries but also as characters. These two have been through a lot together, and it gives me the feeling that they may know one another better than anyone else.

Also, I usually hate the bickering married couple trope, but the FACE Family content made it work for me lol!

Ah yes, the BIG one! GerIta is probably one of, if not the OG Hetalia ship. And for good reason, too. Italy, Germany, and Japan are more or less the main characters, with the relationship between Italy and Germany given the most attention and development.

The biggest reason I ship this pairing, and I don't think I'm alone in this, stems from the theory of Germany and HRE somehow being the same person. Whether it be amnesia or the same-body-two-minds theory, I love all of the different storytelling avenues it opens up.

I adore the sheer drama and tragedy of a story where HRE supposedly dies or goes missing, prompting Italy to endlessly mourn his first love. Only to meet Germany many years later, where the two of them have this feeling deep in their bones that they know each other. Italy may be able to connect the dots that Germany is HRE, but it's been so long... How can he be sure? Perhaps it's even been so long that he forgot certain details about HRE, making it even more painful, and difficult, to decipher what's going on.

And as for Germany, what is going through his mind when he swears he's seen this cute face somewhere before? He's pretty sure he hasn't met Italy face-to-face before, but something about this fool he found in a box of tomatoes abandoned in the woods feels so familiar, and it's driving him up the wall.

At the end, you could have a beautiful reunion, where the two of them realize who the other is. Germany gets to a point where he remembers his past, and---after having a moment of gay panic and realizing that the cute girl in the green dress back then was actually a boy---realizes just how much he loves Italy. And so, the two of them live happily ever after.

OR...

You could have an ending where Germany discovers the truth but considers himself and HRE to be two completely different people. Germany is no longer the boy Italy fell in love with all those years ago. What could make this even more tragic is if Germany loves Italy but wonders if Italy truly loves him or who he was (that being him or HRE).

Or if Italy loves Germany, but the latter insists that, because he's no longer that same person, Italy is wasting his time. That perhaps Italy is projecting his love of HRE onto Germany as a way of coping.

Or perhaps Germany does love Italy, and while Italy does feel some level of affection for Germany, he cannot bring himself to fully love him. Because for Italy, his heart still lies with HRE, and he and Germany might as well be two completely different people.

And I'm not even touching on the potential drama this would stir up between Germany and Prussia, as this would undoubtedly mean that Prussia hid the truth from him for literal centuries! Heck, I'd even throw Hungary, Austria, and France in on the secret as well!

Overall, GerIta has the potential to be a cute and fun "opposites attract" love story while ALSO being one of the most gut-wrenching, heartbreaking tragedies you've ever read. And the way it all ends is completely up to you.

I've actually been working on a story somewhat based off of this theory because the ideas that stem from it are too good to pass up!

Lastly, RusAme. First off, this is yet another America pairing that falls victim to my aroace headcanon. With that said, I can understand why some people ship it. Particularly because of this reblog post made by @olympeline where they explained the ships appeal to me. Some other's added on as well with some pretty good insights if you wanna give it a look.

Given my love for opposites attract, you'd think this ship would be right up my alley. I mean, how can you possibly get more opposite than the United States of America and Russia? For me, it's that I just can't see them getting along. Which I know is rich coming from me, seeing as I ship FrUk so heavily, but at least France and England have some friendly moments in the series. I can't seem to recall any moments like that between America and Russia.

However, I love the idea of Russia and America being forced to work together on something. I feel like that would be comedy gold lol!

But overall, it's my aroace America headcanon doing most of the work here.

It hits me today that, as a historical PruAus shipper, I actually went through quite a bit of viewpoint / headcanon revisions throughout the years. Before my memories fail me because I’m a boomer, I want to document that a bit, in rough chronological order....

19th century imperial Austria such a vibe, Austria is sissy, weak, not physical, just lets people take advantage of him

Prussia totally tops Austria in Königgrätz, plomp, great angst dynamic (ok that’s before trigger warning was a thing). G major so good (can you believe that was published in 2010)

But seriously, why did they go to war in 1866? Did Austria initiate that? Did Prussia do that? Alright, let’s write a paper on that. Hold on, they seemed rather reluctant to go to war. It is like Zeitgeist pushed them to war. Austria was, from a contemporary point of view, rather formidable, so the defeat was more like a surprise. It is not right to depict Roderich as weak. But why does fandom do that? And more importantly, why do most of these history books frame Prussia as the strong one destined to lead? Also, Hungary was literally backstabbing Austria because they made a secret agreement with Prussia. Why did the canon depict the k.u.k relationship as a relatively happy marriage?

...Why does the canon and the fandom depict Prussia and Austria as always fighting? But they fought like - you can count with one hand - you have the Austrian succession wars, then Seven Years' War, then Bavarian succession (barely a fight but more like a joke), then Austro-Prussian war. They actually spend most of the time cooperating with each other? Meanwhile France - Austria you can count 10-15 direct conflicts depending on how you define it. But at least in my bubble I don’t see much France - Austria quarrel.

How did Prussia become a kingdom? Oh. Because the Habsburg emperor permitted it. Brandenburg stans would prefer to frame that as “courtesy call” but the Great Elector literally told the future descendants to respect the emperor ;). Hm, two thoughts: Austrian favoritism? How did politics actually work inside the empire?

At this point, canon for me is an inspiration for characters and their base personalities, but canon literalism is as bad as biblical literalism, chat can we agree? omg speaking of literalism, the times when Austria would be considered Jewish because of the name Edelstein, and all the HCs people developed based on it... >_>

The origins of Austria? Oh there is Bavaria and Saxony. Stem duchies. Wow. Very shippable, great dynamic. Bavaria has such a character. Let's RP as Bavaria. I wanna live there.

German states are underrated. Speaking of which, gotta develop country/state/nation lifecycle headcanons. Checked out NRW but god, that region, so messed up previously. Prussian administration in Catholic Rhineland, fascinating.

France fought Austria because of the Habsburgs? I want to go deeper. Treaty of Verdun, Oath of Strasbourg. Interesting. HRE and France are the same age? Fighting for Middle Francia for the next 1000 years? Now that's some founding myth we could go for.

Two important themes to resolve - love despite confessional divide, love despite Prussia waging war against Austria. Let’s go into the harder topics like sexuality and faith and how the personifications take it.

I want to write a historically informed saga for PruAus!!! Gotta do more research, specifically - how did they actually fall in love? And when?

Found more details on the 1730–1740s. Basically, the dynamic went like this: Austrian diplomacy was starting to take the help of Prussia as granted, see the Polish succession. Austrians were still kind to the Prussians, like the emperor himself intervened using imperial clauses so the king would not chop off Fritz’s head, but the resentment remained in the sense of looking down at Prussia. I think going with the angle of Prussia wanting to be treated as an equal would be the biggest personal reason he told himself that war against Austria was justified. It is like “notice me senpai” but really stupid and destructive. And I think that underdog or emotionally bottom dynamics really fit the dynamic in other times too.

I really want to avoid making anachronistic, predeterministic headcanons, as in, headcanons informed purely by present knowledge. Like “Styria wouldn’t be a personification because it isn’t a nation today,” but it surely was an entity in the present and could have had potential, and we just would never know. Same with the lower-upper state divides too. At this point it would be terribly inconsistent to have some personifications exist while some others don’t because canon didn’t create them. But in fics that can probably be briefly mentioned because it’s more like a huge distraction to the overall narrative.

Speaking of anachronistic headcanons, marriage headcanon is in my opinion a huge offender. As an Austria stan I gotta make sense of marriage. RPs and fanfics often handwave details. The main theme I see is “if there is some important political alliance marriage then the nations are married.” But then everyone would be sleeping with each other. If that is what people are going for, ok, but personally, with our Hetalia cast mostly male, some non-consensual underage stuff between two guys is the most immersion-breaking thing we could do. I love Roderich too much. I also believe the Habsburg house loves Roderich enough and Roderich loves himself enough that he and the other Austrian states did not do it. If you count just “political marriage,” then Austria and Hungary would have been doing it since medieval times.

Singling out Austro-Hungary and the Habsburg Catholic monarchy as the two marriages is full of inconsistencies. Not to mention, Spain-Austria was not an intentional alliance. There were successors lined up for Spain but they all just died LOL. Even the Spanish cortes had issues accepting Charles because the guy did not speak much Spanish. He grew up in Flanders. The 1500 to 1520s, to Roderich, would have been a rollercoaster in terms of pure luck. But I do think that if Roderich has had any sexual encounters, Antonio would be the first. Sexuality, guilt, sin, reformation, put that in a pot...

HRE being depicted as a weak kid, constant quotes from Voltaire, I’m so done with it. But the important question is, how did HRE truly decline in power? Sure, there’s the Thirty Years' War, but something else messed him up more, right? But no, there is no way Roderich would let anyone have a hand on HRE, there is just no way.

Then, why did Austria keep getting elected as the emperor after the 1440s? Czech and Luxembourgers? How? Let’s visit Prague and find out. Fascinating medieval background, I want to write her relationships with Roderich. I see them tighter together than Hungary, seriously, lol.

Saxony is incredibly beautiful and also an underserved character like Bohemia. I surprisingly liked Leipzig.

Went to all the medieval cities of Bavaria. What a historically and culturally consistent folk. Their national narrative is so laser-focused. Bavarians are the best, I want to be the emperor, otherwise I rebel, screw the centralized authority outside of Bavaria.

I finally understood the empire, I think.

Going to Italy. Let’s form Feliciano headcanons for real. His relationship with Austria is really dependent on the Italian city-states. What does Feli truly represent here? There are Risorgimento museums everywhere in Italy. I don’t think Feli is any of the northern states. He is like HRE but even worse off, with no authority of his own. I find it improbable that he would be Piedmont or Venice. At so many points in history, things could go sideways and some other state would take up the unification task. I am also increasingly convinced that the “memories with Rome grandpa” were a national myth. Feli believed and felt he remembered being around during Roman times, but upon scrutiny he would notice anachronistic, inconsistent details. He just chose to continue believing in it. This is my way of reconciling the North and South personification difference, with the North being the Germanic-conquered parts later turned Kingdom of Italy in name inside the HRE, while the South went a very different way starting with the Exarch of Ravenna.

Let’s finally give Hungary justice and read Hungary-specific history books instead of learning from side mentions in European books. To be honest I still do not fully understand it, in a sense of self-contradiction. Hungary getting ruined by Mongols and Turks, that is a theme. But the level of self-stabbing and the inconsistency between her people and her nobility were stark. It is like Hungary is happy with absolutely no one. John Zápolya surrendering himself to Ottoman authority just so he could get support kicking the Habsburgs out is like, wow, if Erzebet tells Roderich she finds Zápolya right, Roderich would just hate Erzebet so much lmfao. If Austria sides with the people, relieving them from misery and oppression from the nobles, the nobles go crazy. But then the nobles sided with Austria during the more reactionary times and the common folk was also unhappy about it. And it is not like Hungary was ever happy with their own chosen rulers either. If there is one common theme I am seeing, it is like “we could have been great, but insert reasons,” rather dysfunctional, poor but prideful folks. I think the inconsistency makes my version of Roderich understand Erzebet but never fully, like the predictable part is that she wants glory and recognition, but the means are inconsistent.

Wait, did I mention that all of this is about writing a PruAus fanfic? I haven’t even talked about HRE history and how that is relevant to rank setting for personifications, Prussia’s legality, elector legality, towns and cities and abbeys. Polish history and what that means to later interaction between Feliks and Roderich in marriages, Vienna sieges, partitions, and successions. The early days of the Teutonic Orders and how that characterizes Gilbert. I know, 700 words of rambling later and I finally mention Gilbert HCs? Austria has truly made me an AEIOU.

I've seen a little talk about how England leaving America on his own for so long messed him up a little (thank you reddit user who go that talk going). So i wanted to think about some of Englands' other colonies and stuff i guess?

so like we have America. I still stand he's probably like, Jamestown or something and over time he became the main US rep, like how the UK has the four brothers (five? Six with Sealand) but England represents them at meetings. Or Japan reps all of Japan instead of like a couple dozen prefectures showing up. That kind of thing. And like that guy's a little messed up. In earlier parts ofhis story, he's shown to just be really explorative, stil strong tho, but mostly jsut a nice sweet kid who happens to have three teenagers fighting over him. Seriously couldn't they share? Oh wait it's hetalia no they can't XD

anyways, it's only wlater once America is firmly under British rule that he starts growing the yelling and loudness. I think that's like the sign hhat he wants a little attention f rom England- like, he's shown to just be a guy when it's Canada when they're kids but england gets the "SHOVE FOOD IN MY PIEHOLE" treatment. And I think that's just because England keeps leaving and coming back but sometimes he just ignores the kids and does his own thing for a long time. Canada ends up letting America take the lead for them. And then later on once all is said and done America revels in his big parties and whatnot because the attention is on him, and it won't heal the hrut of England just leaving all the time but it sorta helps. (Canada doesn't count they're basically joined at the hip it's not the same).

and if you compare it to like the Italies for example. Austria was still there to watch over Italy North even though he really went for the uh. Less optimal route. But he was till there, in his own way. Prussia definitely wasn't going to leave HRE and later Germany alone unless he absolutely had to. Spain didn't jsut go gallivanting around when Romano was there (no comment onhis other former colonies). Ofc you could make an argument for Iceland, but by the time Norway took over he'd been alone mostly for 300 years, and even if Norway and Denmark didn't exactly visit all the time because i headcanon Iceland stayed happily on his island 90% of the time like Aland and Faroe Islands to avoid the drama called "four nordics pretending they could get along under one roof when they definitely are not good rooommate compatable", I doubt he was entirely without parental guidance. Norway could always sense him (so themoment anything bighappened Norway would be marching right over), and Iceland mentions sending letters out. I'm jsut gonna guess he sent the letters via Mr. Puffin, and I'd guess Mr. Puffin could always deliver some words if needed from overseas. Iceland also apparantly has fairies at his house so there's that too. Not thet he'd admit it.

But if you notice, it's def circumstance that gives some character which is cool when we're talkign about stereotype-based characters. Ameriica becomes loud and "ignores" the room when he's given the stage, because if he outrages everyone then he'll get attention. Italy N.. had everythig taken care of for him and has few worries, and a pretty good work ethic since Austria isn't a slacker. Roomano is a spoiled brat. Iceland....honestly boy just needs to accept the others rubbed off on him and he's just as kooky as the rest of them. I know you're a teen and all but kid c'mon you love them mystical animals and you keep bringing up your weird museums XD (I swear this child got Norway's anti-socialness, Sweden's inability to admit things (in his case, he actually likes hanging out with the others), Finland's oddness, and Denmark's everythign else because we all know Norway probably saw Iceland at last and had a crisis over it, man knows when Iceland appears but can't get around to taking the ruling for how many years????

And then there's New Zeeland, who had to raise Austrailia when NZ was also pretty young. NZ doesn't even have the hope of hep fro manyone- America and Canada i'm pretty sure still had visitors from like France and I think the Netherlands would have popped by a few times, because they did do a bit of um. Trading. with the colonies and stuff. Austrialia used to be on the other hand where they sent English prisoners. New Zealand is not ready for that kind of craziness, and so of course we're gonna get a free range crazy Austrailia and a done with it New Zealand who got no help and probabl ygot even less parental support then America. BTW it's crazy that technically GB still techncialy rules over so many big places like Canada and Austrailia even though they also technicall ydon't like that's just so wild.

so what have we learend from this? England sucks as a dad, and Iceland's teen rebel phase is in full swing. WHat was the poitn of this? I don't know but you read it and i wrote it so.....

Okay tbh I don't have a concrete answer EBGJFJ I do have regional/City State OCs, but they're not really part of my "main canon", if that makes sense?

I play around with them a lot. Whether they exist or not, if they live or die, what relation they have with the itabros, it all really depends on what I'm in the mood to explore! So for example I have some lore/story ideas where the Northern City States exist and then die off, and other ones where they stay alive as regional personifications.

Lately my friends and I have been super self-indulgent and playing with the idea of regions being Feli and Romano's respective kids. Does it make much sense? Eeehh it depends. Is it fun and silly? Hell yea 😎 I love myself a big chaotic Italian family DBFJR

Anyways, to answer your question more properly- I imagine, in this scenario, the only southern personification would be Romano (though you could argue there would be another one alongside him, but I digress). So the ones to die off would be the northern (and some central) city states, who Feliciano has interacted with a LOT throughout his life. They didn't always get along, and they fought pretty often, but I'm sure the loss would still be incredibly painful. They were a constant in his life, and now they're gone. They couldn't even fully experience unification and independence, something they fought long and hard for before passing away. It feels more than a little unfair, and I wouldn't be surprised if Feliciano experienced "survivor's guilt." It certainly doesn't help that he lost HRE decades prior.

Like I said, there are many ways to go about city states and region OCs. I never have a "set" answer because I like exploring these characters in a myriad of ways.

Anyways, I don't have any pretty art yet of the OCs, but here's an early exploration of Miss Lombardy (formerly the Duchy of Milan). She sees herself as the "bread winner" and tries her best to be serious at work, but she's honestly very easy to distract and is generally a lively woman. So don't let her stern mug fool you.

In an AU/Scenario where she's one of Feliciano's kids, she'd definitely be his golden girl.

Mega awesome HRE and Chibitalia art dump cause i’m on that high rn

These doodles are on my old AU I tried to make a game with friends for a gamejam but had to drop out but still forever haunt my mind begging to be made. I'm still figuring out a lot of the plot and ideas for the story i guess and playing with ideas and concepts of the world and characters. Mainly Death and Earth personified, since they're original creations ya know, especially Death cause they're kinda the antagonist. TLDR Whole plot of the story is that HRE is dying and Death was supposed to make it comfortable for him for giving peace of mind but they were sick and tired of it and kinda punished him for being a greedy power hungry little shit.

In these doodles they're supposed to be dancing together in a ballroom, the jig is up and Death is opening up to HRE and probably giving exposition, probably talk about how they were wrong to do that to HRE, why they lashed out and asking if he wants to do something before he takes his life for good. I have a few old doodles where I designed the dress and stuff, the scene was also drafted to still be in the dream world/ HRE unknowingly thinking this is reality so this was going to be his final moment before the big reveal and Death snapping. Was also gonna be a mini game maybe where you had to do a memory game to remember the steps

These are for when HRE finally discovers everything in the game/story was all just this dream world and he never got that closer with Italy or his brother and where Death gets frustrated and just has a whole rant about their true feelings about humans and the personified countries. The scythe is so shit im sorry. The dream world throughout the game keeps getting flooded with this black goo, which in reality is just this limbo space before a soul makes it to the afterlife, as Death has a harder and harder time keeping the world together and/or just to fuck with HRE and make him paranoid

Here is a alternative version where Death takes off the disguise, probably doing the same thing as the last one but ya know just a bit different. In my note I drabble the idea that the disguises are made with the help of Earth since death ya know kinda kills shit so they can't really create stuff, in this scene I also had a idea where (kinda gorey sorry) they even pull off the skin and hair to reveal their true skeleton form to HRE.

These were just fun doodles, played around with sketching with highlighter and going over in pen which was super fun. I also just wanted to draw Chibitalia, cause idk he's silly. These were kinda just warmups and experiments cause art block has been hitting like a TRUCK.

I hope one day I can still bring this idea to game form, maybe blow the dust off RPG maker or try to get a team together again to work on it but who knows. IN ANOTHERR LIFFEEEE I WOULD BE YOUR GIIRRRRLLLLLL

So because I'm in the mood for spooky stuff I'm once again here posting an idea for a supernatural fic but this time I'm making it Hetalia (YAY LETS GO BACK TO THE ROOTS)

I came up with this like months ago (in June) when I was barely getting back into hetalia(because of PRIDE) but left it there until I realized Hey this is perfect for the season and also who I am kidding this research paper isnt getting written anytim- ANYWAY HERES MY FIC IDEA JUST AS I TOLD IT TO MY BESTFRIEND!

For reasons Italy and Germany (it's important that Japan isn't with them) are playing with sobrenatural stuff and Veneziano ends up accidentally breaking something that triggers some kind of guilt curse and becomes haunted by the ghost of HRE seeing him sneaking around and of course freaking the hell out.

It's most probably Japan's old stuff they are fucking around so it makes sense its magic/spiritual and that they want to keep it a secret. (Also guilt onis are very in tone with japanese mythology).

Italy being Italy doesn't talk with anybody about it (HE WONT DARE TOUCH THAT THEME) and just gets scared outta nowhere and whimpers and cries and is miserable to the point he isolates himself in his house.

Nobody knows what's up with him.

Nobody except Germany.

Germany of course gets worried and suspects it has something to do with they thing they did as it was then when everything started but he's not surewjy or how so he tries to reach out and eventually goes to Italy's house to drag him out himself...except...

Except when he gets there he sees a child.

And not just any child. Lol nop

He sees a child version of himself.

Germany is rightly confused.

What is a child version of himself doing there???

He tries to chase the boy but he is unable to catch him and also Italy still doesn't answer to him so he decides to keep coming both to try to talk with Italy and to figure out what's up with the kid.

And finally on one of those days he goes he hears an interesting conversation...

Roderich (Austria) and Erzebeta(Hungary) being the closest thing Italy has to guardians strong arm their way into his room (obviously Hungary is the one who does most of the work) and force him to talk to them so Italy reveals he has been seeing HREs ghost

Hungary and Austria are like 'BUT THATS IMPOSSIBLE ITALY! YOU KNOW HES..." and yeah he knows he's dead. He knows France himself killed him (Austria and Hungary looking super uncomfortable during the whole conversation) but he's there, following him and everytime Italy sees him his heart constricts and he can't bear to look at him.

Austria and Hungary get outta there believing Italy's is having some kind of late response to repressed trauma. That he's having hallucinations.

And it makes sense!

Of course they know the boy has been developing feelings for the German and they also know how much he loved HRE... It can't be easy to fall in love again after going throught something like that

And OH GOD THIS WAS LITERALLY THE FIRST TIME THEY HAD EVER ACTUALLY TALKED ABOUT HRE WITH ITALY AFTER HIS DEATH* AND FUCK THEY DONT EVEN KNOW HOW HE KNOWS HE DIED....

Germany of course only hears the last part of Italy's conversation with Hungary and Austria before he has to hide so he only learns that yes its the kid, his child self, the one that's causing Italy to suffer so much and

He knows he had a troubled childhood but he really wasn't expecting just the sight of him could cause Italy so much grief...

In fact... why is his child self even haunting Italy in the first place? Shouldnt he be haunting himself?

Germany tries to confront the child, he chases and chases the child and it's not until he corners him and orders the child to get away from Italy that he gets a reaction

"ITALY IS HIS!" The child screams with all his might

"He won't ever leave Italy!" and "Who does he believes he is to try to separate him from Italy?!" are some of the things the child keeps screaming

And boy Germany might not remember much of his childhood but he's pretty sure Prussia had never told him he was such a brat

But at least this brings a little more of light on the issue.

Germany isn't dumb, he knows himself.

He's aware of his... complicated feelings towards the italian. The memories of a failed valentine date coming to haunt him...

BUT

He also knows he can be a little too selfish and ambitious.

A war mongering state fully capable of starting wars just to get what he believes is his.

A fact he isn't proud of himself

Fully capable of hurting others.

A fact that causes him a lot of guilt to this day.

So, he concludes, his child self somehow became aware of his own feelings for the Italian, latched onto them and is doing what he knows best.

Chasing after the Italian. Unwavering, unstoppable. Hurting him in the meantime

But what's he's supposed to do now?

The child won't leave Italy's side.

He doesn't know how to get rid of him.

He could try distancing himself from Italy.. see if the child somehow also senses this and gets away from the italian... but he isn't sure.

But he can't think on any other option

Now Germany believes he's the one being haunted and that Italy's suffering because of him.

In the meantime Japan as all the other countries is confused as to what the heck is happening.

Suddenly his friends started acting strange with Italy locking himself in his house and Germany looking more and more stressed every day

Of course he found the broken vase in his house, the one talking about a guilt oni.

But canonically Japan doesn't remember magic was an actual everyday thing in the ancient times.

To him is just another of his many relics.

The only thing that made special this case was how well preserved it was despite it being really old, back from his young days he barely remembers

From when he was still under china's care.

But Japan doesn't have any other clue.

All he knows is his friends started acting strange after they visited his house and that the vase is somehow related so he has no choice but suck it up and go ask China.

China whos ancient and remembers everything, even the times when magic was real, immeditaely recognizes the vase and goes OH NO.

"So... Who did you say was closest to the vase when it broke?" China nervously asks.

"I don't know. I wasn't there when it broke" Japan calmly responds, unsure why that would be important. "It could be either Germany or Italy. They both were there."

China who knows he's is in front the remnants of the broken guilt oni container yelps: "Germany?! FUUUUUUUCK"

China also isn't very willing to talk about what's happening with Japan.

Talking about the jar would mean talking about magic with Japan, and THAT would mean talking about old times they both would rather ignore ever happened.

China knows this is also part of the guilt oni doing but fuuuuck he really doesn't want to talk about this.

And because the guilt oni/curse spreads like an illness, infecting everybody that's gets close with guilt and feeding from it, growing and growing until there's no more...

There's another player in this.

Prussia

Prussia who doesn't regret what he did.

Prussia, who, if he were put under the same circumstances would do it again and again. 1000 times over if it was necessary.

Prussia whose only regret is knowing it would break his little brothers heart (and maybe even more) to learn the truth

Prussia who one day comes home to find his little brother clearly trying to hide how much he's freaking out and after hours and hours of pushing and poking finally manages to get him to spill the truth

And when Prussia hears from his brothers lips that Italy is being haunted by his child self he's running out the house as if being chased by the demon himself screaming about ghosts and how super scary that is.

And don't be mistaken.

Prussia isn't a bad brother.

He's an awesome brother who will support his brother in his time of need but first....

This is too risky.

WAY TOO RISKY

As much as he loathes the idea of poor little ita chan suffering he loathes more the idea of what could happen to his brother...

No way I'm hell he was going to take that chance.

He would rather never see Italy again than to lose his brother.

If he couldn't do anything back then when he was powerful much less now than he is barely more than a mere mortal/a shadow of his former self.

And here Gilbert/Prussia is exaggerating.

As much as it would break Germany to know he wouldn't disappear, he's too solid of a state for that...

But Prussia was there.

Prussia saw the last days of HRE. He watched him agonize and no way in hell he's going throught that again.

No way in hell he's abandoning his brother. (No way in hell My boy doesn't have trauma over this)

No, Prussia will deal with this on his own.

He will fix it, just like he has done before.

He will fix it before anything happens and he will be there for his brother once all this is over.

But first he needs information

So, knowing Erzebeta and Roderich had been able to speak to ita chan, he goes and sneaks in Austria's house and has his worst fears confirmed when he hears ita chan has been hallucinating with HREs ghost.

Except now he's the only one who knows that that isn't an hallucination and that both Italy and Germany can see him.

And if Hungary catches him sneaking around and demands to know what he's doing there he will only say that that he was there to execute a surprise attack on the uptight austrian.

And Hungary tries to bring up the card of long formed warrior bonds to get him to talk about that , that that shall not be talked about and he would divert the theme and laugh to her face

Because this is something he is planning to take to his grave.

And that's what I got so far.

*it's my head canon that HREs death became something of a taboo topic in the house. Everybody knew but nobody dared to speak about it. Hungary and Austria never found the way to sit down with Italy and talk with him and Italy while he was still in Roderich's house never asked them not wanting to hear it coming from their mouths, preferring to be in negation and pretend he's still waiting for him to come back even though he knew it wasnt going to happen

Eventually the truth will have to come if they want to get rid of HREs ghost but aint no way in hell Prussia will reveal it so Italy and Germany (and others) have no choice but to face the demons of their past and discover it themselves

The whole every country has a deep seated guilt and the guilt curse will spread like an infectious illness was a nice surprise for myself.

They way it touches on everyone ...

Italy and Germany dealing with the ghost (the lover Italy lost, the reminder that Germany really know who he is and what he is capable), Austria and Hungary's not being able to save HRE nor help Italy. Japan and China having to deal with their broken relationship...

PRUSSIAS EVERYTHING.

God just thinking about Prussia also facing HREs ghost, the failure to save him, to what could happen to Germany if the truth comes out... the ANGST IS SO GOOD in this one.

Even France and Romano (and therefore Spain) could enter into the game with Romano feeling guilty with not knowing how to help Italy despite being his brother and heck even the potato dumbas seemed to know more about what was going on with his brother, as always romano being the last to know his own brother... and Spain is just there watching romano suffer knowing he's partly responsable for the distance between the Italy brothers and once Hungary and Austria learn it was France who told Italy about HREs fate they will eat him alive.

Except France won't stand for that.

1 it was centuries ago when France told Italy that! It's not his fault what's happening to Italy now and 2 Italy deserved to know! He loved him! They loved each other! He wasn't going to stand there and keep quiet for centuries just like Austria and Hungary did.

He wouldn't stand for such disservice to love .

And Frances is obviously being dragged down by the guilt of causing HREs death. France might be Prussia's best friend but i highly doubt Prussia would let him know what really happened with HRE considering the circumstances... Then again even if it hadn't been Frances fault it really is the thing Prussia is the most secretive about.

He himself could have told France that HRE died. Specially because if HRE was super weak and had too many enemies that wanted him dead it would be convenient for him to spread the rumor of his death and who better than France, who both had struck the fatal blow and was connected to every part of the world and had such a stronghold on knowledge after his revolution, to do it.

Once the truth comes out i really need a scene of Germany approaching Prussia and asking him to tell him how was he before... when he was... How was he back then?

And Prussia who has never talked about this with anyone.

Prussia who for centuries kept all that happened to himself.

A burden to never share.

Who even now that the truth is out still doesn't want to talk about it relents.

Because it's his brother who asked. And he will always do whatever Germany asks him

"Truth be told he isn't that different now from how he used to be" he says his heart breaking a little when he sees the brief glimpse of desolation crossing Germany's features.

"He isn't that different but he enough for it to matter. To be another person" Prussia ammends quickly. No way he isnt aware of Germanys identity crisis.

"He has always been serious. Too dutiful for his own good. But... he wasnt as guarded as he is now. It was easier to know what he was feeling.... Even the foot soldiers knew about his crush on little Italy" Prussia says snarking while recalling the last part

And yeah that.

Germany is really surprised to know it turns out he has loved italy his whole life... Then again if he thinks about it it isn't really that surprising. It makes sense

It makes sense even if he's now avoiding the Italian as much as he can since the truth got spilled.

Germany can't help it. He doesn't think he would be able to tolerate it if he sees disappointment in the italian eyes, yearning for a person who doesn't exist anymore.

"Try as he might he wore his heart on his sleeve... And that was part of the reason for his downfall." Prussia keeps saying, wondering not for the first time if Germany had unconciously developed the way he had as a defense mechanism. "More feisty, easily flustered."

"Unlike Germany who was a well behaved boy, HRE wouldn't listen to Prussia... Not in the sense that he would ignore him/dismiss whatever he said but rather than unlike Germany who did whatever Prussia asked him to do without question HRE would have to ponder it. HRE would have to consider all the options and act according to what he deemed best....He had to. He was the head of the empire. He was in charge of all of them... Highly capable and yet so weak. A fragile constitution" Prussia says with finality.

They were nearing on hard topics he really REALLY didn't want to talk about. The brief talk already taken it's toll on him and as much as he owe it to Germany he had already pushed himself too far in one day.

Germany understood it. They had time.

Despite Prussia's worst fears that have been proven wrong... they had time after all.

A huge relief washin over prussias entire being, the relief of putting down a burden he had carried for so long.

They could keep talking about it later

And here the mic drops.

21. What tarot would your PC be?  Oh, i am FAR from a tarot expert but im pulling from my growing knowledge / understanding and doing some quick readings and i think Tetch has a Knight of Wands vibe? He's very much An Adventurer, there's a reason he's here and not having a respectable halfling crafter career and its because he likes the new situations, action, things happening, etc, but also with all his intelligence, he doesnt have the laser guided focus of a Knight Of Swords, more assosciated with pure intellect- he's passionate and jumpy and creative but also sometimes foolishly and dangerously hasty. thats both where his Big Fails and -1 wis come from, but also why Wild Magic seems to be. actually working quite well for him- his high charisma was mostly about taking things and people in good stride and returning the same, but it has evolved into Vibing With The Universe, apperently, see "inspired action".

I love color design and how they fit the characters GRR GRR it's HRE A AAA. I think about it about every other month.

like how most port mafia's characters have black in their pallettes!!! and how the DOA's colors are purple and white and AGGRHEA yea yea. I'm insane.

BUT. fukufuku. it's more of design opposites with eachother. it's a common motif(? theme? I am just a guy.) that asagiri/harukawa apply to most character relationships (atsu/aku, chuuya/dazai(? I would assume) such like that.)

fukuzawa's hair being more rounded, fukuchi's being spikey and wild. fukuzawa being associated with dogs, fukuchi with cats. and their clothing being literally the opposites of the color wheel GRR GRR I'm gonna die

their abilities are opposites as well. fukuzawa's helping people control their abilities and fukuchi's strengthing a weapon.

okay real quick before i talk about fukuzawa/fukuchi i Have to talk about the doa being purple/white. i completely agree.

notice how sigma’s almost entire palate is purple and white? because he was quite literally created for the DoA. he is the biggest representation of the colours that represent the group. and despite that he’s the one that wants to escape it most? the man painted with the colours that represent his group is the one who feels loneliest within it and wants to leave and find a real place to belong. yet even if he leaves he will be reminded of how he was used and created purely for them. oh sigma :((

OOOOOOH I SEE I SEE. i really like this idea a lot.

i suppose they contradict each other a ton. even in personality, fukuzawa (used to) want to work alone whereas fukuchi worked in a team. fukuzawa is calm and reserved whereas fukuchi is more outgoing and loud. i love this a lot.

i believe at one point asagiri said one of his favourite thing to do is pair characters that aren’t similar up as rivals (not the exact wording but something along that line). we see that with atsushi and akutagawa, dazai and chuuya (and dazai and kunikida arguably), and jouno and tecchou for examples. you could say opposites attract ahaha. i suppose fukuzawa and fukuchi are the same dynamic, with added former friendship on top. that adds a lot of depth to them and a lot of heaviness to their fight. we could see the grief in their eyes and faces as they fought each other. oh they make me so sad.

Prompt: “You work at a bookshop and you can’t help but notice a person who idles outside the shop almost every time you’re working but they have never come in. One day you walk out, while still on the clock, and call them asking why they don’t just come inside and see the store's selection. They respond that they can’t read despite you two undoubtedly being the same age.” However I am changing the book shop to the record shop because I can, Also changing some of the prompt because it went in a direction.

Day one:

Putting the Led Zeppelin record back into its designated box, my attention was quickly grabbed by the red head walking into the record store. The second thing that grabbed my attention was the girl walking in after her, who had been talking for a while based on the red head’s face. Shaking my head to snap back into focus, I continued to grab the records from the inventory box and into the display crates. 

The red head was still on my mind as I walked to the backroom, and continued to walk her way through my thoughts for the rest of the day long after she had walked out the door with her record of choice. As I pulled around the corner to turn into my neighborhood, I saw the same redhead and her friend in a Vista Cruiser with a couple other guys in the car. I slightly perked up at the thought of her living nearby. That alone raised the slight sadness I felt from not talking to her earlier. I wasn’t going to track her down but maybe we would see eachother grabbing mail or on a walk in the afternoon. 

Day two:

Working the cash register was borning. All you do is stand there and wipe down the counter after a customer checks out. As I stood there thinking about my plans after work, the bell above the door rang, effectively waking me up from my daze. Looking at the group of 6 that just walked in, I quickly recognized them as the group with the redhead. Shifting my eyes from each person, I quickly found her standing next to the boy with the long sleeved red and gray shirt. I looked at hre for a few seconds longer than seemed appropriate for a store worker, and quickly looked down at the register. I decided to step into the back room quickly to pick up the inventory list so I could check it over and update it for whatever they were about to buy.

Walking back to the front of the store, I saw one of the boys had the other in a head lock and were being a little rougher than I felt comfortable with. 

“Hey boys! Knock it off before I have to kick you out for breaking something!” I shouted at them from across the store.

They both quickly got away from each other and mumbled quiet apologies before shuffling into the group who had formed a circle behind the,. I heard a couple people chuckle while they walked back but as I was scanning over their faces again I locked eyes with the redhead. We just stared at each other for a minute before she smiled and looked back at her friends. I quickly smiled back before making my way to the counter. Four of the six of them bought a couple records and one of them just stood next to the curly haired one while everyone else paid. The redhead was the only one still looking around.

“Donna, are you coming?” the same girl from before asked.

“Nah you guys go ahead, I’m going to look around a little bit more. I’ll meet you guys at The Hub,” she replied while aimlessly flicking through the rock records,

Her friends shrugged and walked out as I made a mental note of her name. Donna. I repeated it in my head a few times before checking on what she was looking at. She had made her way to the small display shelf we had in front of the counter. I couldn’t tell what she was looking at but she didn’t seem to have any interest in it. 

“Do you need help finding anything in particular? I would’ve asked earlier but your friends seemed pretty familiar with the store” I asked her while playing with a post it note I found on the desk.

“Oh um yeah, I was hoping to get into some new music but all my friends either have shitty music taste or I already like it. Do you think you could help me find something?” She stumbled slightly through her speech but was able to quickly recover.

“Oh yeah I can totally help you! What type of music do you like currently so I can base my recommendations off that.” I’m already thinking of a few bands I could recommend as I walk around the counter and listen to her rattle off her likes and dislikes.

We walked around the store for about an hour trying different records out and just talking about ourselves before ending up at the counter. She had a mix of Pink Floyd, The Clash, Fleetwood Mac, and The Who. I was debating in my head about asking for her number but before I could muster the courage to do it she was grabbing her receipt and bag and walking out with a quick ‘I’ll see you around!’. I really hope she will.

Day three: 

I had the day off, which I was gonna utilize by doing some much needed chores around the house and going on a quick errand trip around town. I had to psych myself up as I peeled myself from bed to do the dishes and laundry. I decided that the best plan of action was to grab a load of laundry and start that first and do the dishes while it’s running. I was grabbing some stray pieces of clothes off my floor, when my fingers brushed on a folded up note in the pocket of yesterday's pants. Grabbing and unfolding it I was stunned to find Donna’s number and name were messily scribbled across a small piece of paper. I set it down on my dresser and tried to focus on the task at hand. As much as I tried though, I found it was quite hard to focus on the mundane tasks of laundry and dishes when I could call Donna. I decided the best way to get over it was to go through it. It was about 1 pm, which was a decent hour to call so I didn’t feel as tense about dialing her number. I tapped my food nervously on the hardwood floor as I listened to the ring of the phone. 

“Hi, Midge speaking,” A woman spoke, her voice slightly raspy but still very excited.

'Hi it’s Y/N and I was wondering if I could speak to Donna?’

“Yes of course, let me get her real quick!”

Before I had the chance to answer I heard the phone hit the counter and her running off, faintly hearing her calling out for Donna. I waited there playing with the phone cord for a few minutes before Donna’s voice as she replaced her mom on the phone.

“Hi Y/N, what’s up?”

“I was wondering if you would like to hang out outside of the record store, like at a restaurant or a park or something? The location is up to you if you want to.”

“We could hang out at the water tower in town. I’ve gone up there with my friends a couple times so it should be safe.”

“That works! You free tomorrow around 4?”

“I am, I’ll meet you at the tower tomorrow!”

“Bye!” With the plans set, I hung up the phone and let out a breath. I decided to quickly do my errands as I was ready to lay on my couch and watch whatever was on T.V.

Day four:

Shutting the door, I walked up the hill that led to the water tower. Standing at the bottom of the tower was Donna. She seemed less nervous than I was, or maybe she was good at hiding her emotions. 

“You ready to head up?” She asked while tilting her head to demonstrate where we would be going.

I nodded my head and we both set up the ladder. It took us a few minutes to reach the top but once I saw the view it was all worth it. 

“Do you like it up here?” She asked while playing with the seam of her flannel as though she was nervous I wouldn’t like the spot.

“I love it, I’ve never seen everything all at once like this.” I said, giving her a small smile of reassurance that I wasn’t lying to her.

She smiled and decided to lead the conversation into a similar direction as our one in the record store, base level personality stuff. The more and more we talked, the more we had in common, from books, to tv shows, to our favorite stores. We swapped personal stories and tidbits about ourselves for hours. Just sitting on the water fountain, in our own little world. After about 3 hours of talking we sat back for a bit and watched the town. I kept trying to figure out if she was into me so I could ask her out at some point in the future, or if I was going to be stuck in the friend zone forever, I heard Donna’s voice.

“This might be a little soon but do you think we could do this again sometime..” she rubbed her hands together and looked at her lap,’ but as a date?”

I was too shocked to audibly respond but I shook my head yes as a grin stretched over my face. Her head snapped up and her grin matched mine. We sat there and basked in the happiness that was practically radiating off both of us before we decided it was late and we should head back. I walked to her car and right before she got in, she pecked me on the cheek then she was gone. I grinned as I walked back to my own car with a triumphant smile.

Crazier is that Germany is canonically born after the fall of HRE and the formation of the German Empire, which means that Germany would have been born in 1871. That would make him over 200 years younger than even America! No wonder Germany has such poor emotional regulation in canon, he is practically a baby in nation ages and did nothing but fight in wars the first hundred years of his life.

Also, Austria is actually younger than North Italy. He was actually given a canon birthdate which was 976 AD.

I've actually been working on a list that will give my best estimates for when characters were born and how old they are. It is really interesting because you find certain characters were younger than you thought (like Germany) and some older than you thought (like the Italy brothers).

It can be surprisingly hard for some nations because their history is so varied and trying to tie a single event as their origin point can be difficult. Sometimes canon is also really vague about nation ages too so you are left shooting in the dark. It also doesn't help when, sometimes, canon just outright contradicts real history.

For example, canon says that Northern Ireland is older than England but that is simply not possible. Even if you try to go as far back as possible, you could really only date Northern Ireland to the Ulster Plantation in 1609 AD. Canon also goes on about how old Turkey is but, to my surprise, I found that Turkish people didn't even step foot into the Anatolian Peninsula until 500s-600s AD, which would make him younger than North Italy. Also, despite canon describing Turkey as "old," canon also says he was the Ottoman Empire in his "younger days." The Ottoman Empire wasn't even formed until 1299. This would actually make him among the youngest nations and directly contradicts canon treating him like he is older than North Italy. We know Italy has been confirmed to have been alive to have known Ancient Rome (476 AD) and to have lived with Austria (900s), so both of those dates make him older than Turkey.

So, yeah. I'm actually really interested in the idea of how old nations are and find it funny that many people don't seem to realize just how old North Italy is compared to a lot of the other nations. Hopefully I finish my list of headcanons detailing their ages soon because I am excited to show what I have come up with.

italy brothers were around by the 900s and had been around for some time. Google says rome fell in 476 and italy bros knew him so either rome lived paat his expiration date or....well. The HRE was a thing from the 900s also btw. (I forgot if it was mentioned when Rome finally kicked the bucket but i think it was while fighting Germanis...)

italy is probabpy older then most of your favorite characters including but not limited to the nordics, America beothers, England (possibly), prussia (orobably), the Baltics....beo is OLD. He was a child for like a thousand years.....

he's definitely younger then France, Spain, and Austria, unless he just never grew because he was technically on statehood of sorts or something. Anyways its hetalia anything goes but like.

I am having the feelings for my gaul oc tonight. probably gonna write this out wake up in the morning and see none of this is coherent and then I'll delete it BUT FOR NOW it is 3 am and I have feelings(tm)

Gaul had 5 kids. 1 with Rome (France) and 4 with Germania (HRE, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium).

Now, I see a lot of 'France had a wonderful relationship with his mom!!" bro he absolutely did not. Welcome to the wonderful world of Gaul hated Rome and every time she looked at France all she could see was his father even though as we all know François looks nothing like Romulus. France always knew his mother didn't really love him, not completely at least; he doesn't even have an 'epiphany' moment, he just grew up knowing it. When France was idk, five, maybe six, Gaul for lack of better term ran away from Rome's house. She escaped (eventually he'd catch her again unfortunately) she ran for the hills and for a long while was free.

She ended up married to Germania, how we got there doesn't matter rn, but they were married. We can discuss though how they had very different views of their marriage, partially bc they didn't know how to communicate for shit. Gaul always thought them ending up together resulted from nothing but the fact that they had a common enemy. Germania always thought they were married because they enjoyed being with each other, which wasn't completely untrue. they had a decent relationship, but, it wasn't anything special.

They hadn't been married long when their first child came along, a daughter, Adelheid (or Heidi). Now, Heidi may have been the personification of The Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation; she was also Eldest Daughter Syndrome personified. yknow the "I hate my mother. My mother is the only person who understands me. I'm more like my father. My father doesn't know a thing about me."

Switzerland would be the only one to ever be able to claim he knew his mother. Really knew her, it was an odd thing but Heidi was trying so hard to please their father that it left Aldrich with his mother all the time, he didn't mind. He would be the most torn up by her death, part of his "how do you feel?" "I don't" mentality comes from the extra traumatic circumstances surrounding Gaul's death.

Netherlands didn't have much of a relationship with his mother. When Rome did find Gaul again she was pregnant with him, Rome didn't know that not for a few months. When Eitel would be born Rome would basically call a meeting with Germania to go 'I believe this belongs to you' give him newborn Ned and half-order him to never come back.

I've talked about Belgium before; but I'll say it again. She was born when her mother was living under, and her father was working for Rome. Emma was born, they passed her off as Rome's kid for a good while before he connected some dots and disowned her.

France hated his half-siblings, he despised them. Why? Gaul didn't love France; she couldn't. And he tried his hardest to convince himself that he wasn't jealous, that he was happy they got what he didn't. But in the end, some of his last words to Heidi were "what do you have that I don't? What made her love you?"

His relationship with his siblings has gotten better as time has gone on, it won't be the same as if they grew up together obviously. But it's good, they're all happy with the state of it.

But sometimes, sometimes François can't help but look at Aldrich, Eitel, and Emma with a pang of jealousy and wonder again "what made maman love them?"

This, of course, now begs the question of IF you could rewrite Hetaoni with your character voices, how would you do it? Then again, this is a massive undertaking so feel free to leave this chilling in your askbox!

Gosh, this IS a massive undertaking but one I'm willing to briefly tackle!

If I were to write Hetaoni, the group going in would either change or would spend more time infighting and split in different ways because Alfred and Ivan wouldn't be able to work together. It depends on the decade of course but having Arthur and Francis AND Alfred and Ivan locked in one space? Fuck me, someone would blow. You've also got a group of mostly very domineering personalities who would all want to take the lead and direct which also wouldn't end well so theyd have to stay apart from each other and work separately to prevent a disaster

Really then, I'd change the group to be characters who worked better together OR change the entire plot to accommodate that difficult mix of people. Either way the whole thing would be immediately very different

I'd also get rid of anything 'extra', focusing only the creature, the lore of it, and getting out (we never did find out whether Ivan was up to something, did we?). Get rid of the early fandom catch phrases and quirks and generally write it in my usual style which would take away a lot of the quirky fun. I'd take away the HRE thing too and really drill down on it being a 'Oh shit what is this thing, how is this time loop working, and how can we get the fuck out.' Work on worldbuilding a bit more to being outside characters in to help and give poor Matthew his goddamm spine back

Overall it would be a lot less silly and thus would maybe lose that spark that people liked so much! It's a product of its time and I have deep nostalgic love for it
