I seem to have inadvertently balanced faction/gender representatives, and apparently the theme was red, blue, and then noodle-heads. . . With the noodles existing due to the 30-day waiting period to use guild banks as tax shelters. (Hi, tumblr guildies!)

I also got obligated to get a ship on imp side, but I've done it on the wrong character (Huraj instead of Vensys, my main). Dy was the only one who could take a summons anywhere, and I've been joining ops. . . Which is fine for the oldest few that you enter from the Fleet (Vensys & co. have cleared vet EV, KP, and SnV -- working on the last boss of TFB), but can be a problem with the rest. Lol. But This is Fine. I'll just make some sorc quickbars. hehehe.

I signed a thank you and farewell and left the shop, heading down two layers along less-used tunnels until I reached Summersoft Cloud. Despite the city below technically not sleeping, the day and night cycle of the sunlit was commonly used for business and legal work. The house of favours was quiet at dinner times, with a dozen staff chatting and playing dice games and waiting on cilents.

A tall dry’slin was lounging at a table with two humans and a h’Shien. Another had two shapelings, another human and Olimia, a Rukerth who was keeping all of her limbs close to her torso during the card game to counter accusations of cheating. There was a vensi, but it was likely with a client upstairs, or just out in the streets wandering. Vensi were weird, even by the standard of those created in the age of magic.

Drui was leaning against the far wall watching the door. Slightly shorter than I and somewhat thinner, Drui didn’t look anything like security – which should have been enough to warn people, but seldom was. They started, so I must have looked even more miserable than I felt, but anything they could have said was offered up was stopped by Yvet spotting me from the table she was sharing with Kiriat. Yvet was one of my oldest friends, which was one reason she was letting me and Kiriat live above the Summersoft. Her only stipulation had been that I didn’t steal Drui’s magic at all, which was more than fair. Flickers who were strong enough to be a spark were rare, and the last thing they needed was some thief like me messing anything up. I knew what their magic did, and I could defend against it: I didn’t need more.

Kiriat’s fingers were a blur of vensi handsigns to Yvet, each movement small and elegant. I couldn’t make out what he was saying from across the room, but he turned at her distraction. After a moment, he stood and walked toward me, leaving the conversation unfinished. Yvet was definitely smirking and not trying to hide it.

To anyone else, Kiriat would have looked calm. And he was: it took a lot to rattle one of the People, somewhat from being from another world and definitely because they tried to keep a certain image up. A head shorter, beautiful grey skin like nothing else in the world and amber eyes that weren’t gold. That part was a good sign. He walked casually, not hurried, but was looking me over carefully and signed nothing, just pointed to the stairs going up.

Drui walked over and passed some coin to Vyet. I pretended not to notice.
