Programs have different senses or level of sensitivity based on their function. They can change if upgraded; Tron shares some of his monitor senses with Beck using the disc

Programs designed to monitor a system or involved in communication have heightened senses, and a lot of processing capacity for them. Some programs are designed to get a broad idea of everything, while others are more specialised

Some see the program equivalent of shrimp colours - seeing radio waves is common in tower guardians or those who communicate with the internet.

Programs do not have a sense of smell

Less of a sense of taste than humans (they usually just eat energy, which tastes mostly similar. They can tell if it’s poisoned. Like irl, water from different taps tastes different but not by much.)

They DO have electroperception, and some have thermoception. Same with grid wildlife like bits.

A combination of the two above things lets monitors do that footprint-seeing thing that Dyson and Rinzler do (even if not directly linked in to be able to see system logs for that area)

Structures and vehicles give off different electrical frequencies. Programs whose function is related to those buildings can sense them, and receive signals from that which can hold information and helps them know where to go like they're ants following pheromone trails. e.g. programs in charge of the trains will have Train Sense

Messing with the above is totally what they used to control people in frame of mind

Programs also have their own signature they can use to tell each other apart

Electrical signals as nonverbal communication. Can communicate with Bits or Bytes this way

Programs can be linked with each other, common in counterparts or parent/child pairings (as in the computer version of parent and child), and share information with each other over the link like telepathy

Full black circuit-covering suits like Rinzler’s are stealthy both due to not giving off light, and masking the electrical signature of a program. They can disguise themselves as others using a similar principle

Users give off electricity, so they seem like a program to other programs on first glance, but those who know what to look for can tell the difference. Given it’s used in communication, programs can get confused talking to users as their electrical impulses don’t follow the same rules, but they can loosely interpret them with practice

Imagining Tron or other monitors getting sensory overload if network traffic is too high, or if in the outside world and standing among a bunch of computers/phones/servers/radio towers etc.

Programs in the outside world get pretty much none of the electrical feedback they’re used to, which can be unsettling for them

Idk how it would be different for Isos. I imagine there’d be a lot of similarities but their senses adapt/change based on their circumstances - getting stronger when needed and weaker when not

The electric organs of most Gymnotiformes produce tiny discharges of just a few millivolts, far too weak to cause any harm to other fish. Instead, they are used to help navigate murky environments, detect prey within sediment, and send signals between fish of the same species. In addition to this low-level field, the electric eels (genus Electrophorus) (image 2) also have the capability to produce much more powerful discharges to stun prey, and shock predators.

Their electrical capabilities of electric eels were first studied in 1775, contributing to the invention of the electric battery in 1800.

Electric eels will continue growing for as long as they live, adding more vertebrae to their spinal column. Some captive individuals have lived for over 20 years.

Vari’s Electric Eel (Electrophorus varii) exhibits greater parental care than the other two species of electric eel. The male makes a nest using his saliva, into which the female deposits around 1,200 eggs for external fertilisation. Spawn hatch seven days later and the mother will keep depositing eggs periodically throughout the breeding season. When they reach 15 mm (0.59 in), the hatched larvae consume any leftover eggs, and after they reach 9 cm (3.5 in) they begin to eat other foods. The male will provide protection for both the young and the nest for up to 4 months.

The Banded Knifefish (Gymnotus carapo) can survive in low-oxygen habitats by breathing air with a modified swim bladder, areas affected by pollution, and for a period on land if its aquatic habitat dries out.

The ghost knifefish species Sternarchogiton nattereri is unique in that its diet consists of freshwater sponges growing on submerged trees, stumps, and other woody debris.

The glass knifefish Eigenmannia vicentespelaea is the only cave-dwelling gymnotiform, and has reduced or absent eyes. As some individuals retain well-developed eyes, this fish may have colonized caves only recently in evolutionary time, and are currently evolving a lack of eyes as an adaptation to cave life.

Neotropical knifefish can lose their tail due to attacks by predators or aggressive encounters other knifefish, but they are capable of regenerating it.

Hi! I was wondering how you think the octa trio would react to a darling who was studying to be a marine biologist? Like I can image that before darling was taken by the mirror they were studying, have an absolute love of the ocean, and even go deep sea diving regularly. I could also see them absolutely gushing over the trios mer-forms, being curious, making treats/dishes based on what their fish equivalent like to eat in our world.

.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ "Zuzu, it's true that octopus have three hearts?" You asked out of blue. You always asked such strange questions whenever you could corner him or the tweels but he couldn't deny you and your curiosity. You had this hopeful glimmer in your eyes that was so precious to see. "Oh and why do some octopuses like to lead an isolated life? It's, uh, because they don't have a mate or just something innate? And if I can ask more, how do this whole visual communication between octopuses work?"

.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ At first, when you still haven't picked his interest, he wouldn't answer you. Not without a contract, that is. But after that, when you became someone dear to him, Azul genuinely feels very happy that you take so much interest on him though he is a little overwhelmed by how many questions you ask per second. Even so, he do his best at answering you when he note your interest on marine life.

.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ You two has long conversations about the life beneath water. You match his enthusiasm talking about fish, crustaceans and molluscs, about corals and the littles things you love. He might share some fun facts with you about octopuses and answers your questions as best as he can. Though he do gets a little shy sometimes. Like, wow, you really want to know all this? If he was in his mer form, you would see his tentacles moving in a very distinct way, almost like a dance and how his skin changed its color.

.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ He gets even more shy if you ask to see his mer form, which he is still a little insecure about. He knows you won't laugh at him but he can't help so this might take a while. Till then, he is more than happy to this little routine of yours. Plus he like when you cook some crustaceans for him. Octopus loves to eat it. Your knowledge is cute in his eyes so he, in turn, study human customs to understand more of you. If you compliment on his human form, he'll blush. But if you compliment him on his mer form, he'll without notice release ink, blush and stutter a little.

.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ Azul makes a potion for you to be able to breathe beneath water each and every time you go diving. Isn't he so generous, just as the Sea Witch herself? Though there's a trick to it. You love the sea so much and you want to know so much and there's so many things you haven't seen yet, it's just fair for him (and for the tweels, he suppose) to show you all. The price? Your legs. Yes, your legs. When you drink it you won't be able to go back to your human form.

.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ Though that's only when you guys graduate from NRC. So you still have some time on your hands, use wisely.

.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ "Jadeeee, why do eels like to migrate so much? What yawming mean you want to mate with someone?" You ask him one day, watching him pause and offer that same sweet, mysterious smile. You then look at Floyd who is using your shoulder as a pillow. "And is it true that you live to be 100? And my main question is about electric eels, how do they use electricity to communicate?"

.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ So many questions. Jade teases you a lot because of how many questions you ask, it's all good fun and he knows when to stop to not make you feel like you're intruding. He gets a little softer answering it, feeling a little nostalgic himself. He felt the same way when he got his legs, he wanted to explore the world, sightsee everything, eat different dishes and hear different songs.

.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ Everything was new though he had to learn everything alone, as his brother and Azul were busy doing their own thing. You don't need to be alone learning about marine life, he can answer your questions, go diving with you, it's a little dangerous but he is there to protect you.

.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ He likes feeling your gaze boring into his form and you little anxious hands touching his long tail and fins. It's cute. Feels intimate. Even more when he curl his tail around you and cuddle you, staying like that for various minutes or even hours.

.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ On the other hand, Floyd may or may not answer your doubts based on his mood. He likes to hear your questions, they're so diverse and they make him think about home. So far, he already told you how crabs have a strong exoskeleton, or that crustaceans adapt quickly or how eels sometimes migrate to live in salt water then on fresh water. There are so many things he could tell you about it. So many creatures who he fought against. Ah, the good times <3

.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ Most times than not Floyd likes to take you diving instead of answering you. It's just more fun, plus he like to have you pay such close attention to his mer form. He displays his tail and gills proudly, letting his bioluminescence leave you in awe.

.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ You and Floyd usually cook together on mostro's kitchen and he show you just how he like to eat molluscs, fish, algae and octopus. He even let you spoonfed him and he'll do the same for you, giggling happily, telling you how cute you are where you're eating. Though he knows humans may find eel food a little strange so he often cook your favorite dish as well.

.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ The Octotrio work together to trap and isolate you in their care. They are the only one worth enough to have you asking your little questions and they'll hate (they totally don't) to hurt someone, if you choose to be ask someone else about marine life. Thus the other octavinelle students are a little afraid of interacting with you.

.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡ But that's ok, right? After all you have your beloved friends to keep you company.

Imps of Hell: Stairways AU

All imps are immune to fire and can see in the dark.

Wrath: Reddest of the imps. Hide is a mix of scales and thick skin. Some can breathe fire (a technique that can be learned if properly trained) Average wrath imp can lift 10x their size. Strength-testing competitions are very popular. All wrath imps have hooves. Features can be any mix of pig, lizard, or cow. Farming community that values toughness and strength above all else. Doesn't like outsiders. Many pray to the Horseman God of War for triumph over adversity and their enemies. Speak with US deep south accents.

Greed: draconic, flightless. Big claws for digging ores. Long, thick tails to balance themselves. Heaviest of the imps. Can grow gem-like scales if they eat the right minerals (gemstones) Have sharp molars for grinding up stone. Greed imp children are enrolled in schools that specialize in law, science, and mathematics. They can continue their studies at maturity (Greed for knowledge is still Greed), but most go to work in the mines. Have special organs attached to their lungs that filter out particles and contaminants in the air (evolved for mining and breathing in smog). This makes them resistant to airborne particulate effects such as pollens, stun powder, sleep powder, and airborne poisons, and strengthens their immune systems. They also smell with their tongues.

Envy: amphibious - can breathe water and air. Skin is smooth like an eel, have neon freckle-like spots that generate electricity. Fins on forearms and tails. Fast on land, and even faster under water. Second pair of eyelids. Sharpest teeth and strongest jaws among any of the imps. Have a second set of jaws like a moray eel. Many become pearl harvesters in torment or pirates on the seas’ surface.

Sloth: wooly and goat-like, resistant to cold. Have big, curved horns. Hair is white to match the tundra. Can style their wool into intricate designs as a fashion statement. Can scale any wall that isn't 90 degrees. Have 4 sets of canines teeth with the rest being incisors and strong molars for eating roots and things encased in ice. Can speak in pitches that only other Sloth imps can hear, evolved so they can communicate between mountain tops, which evolved into sonokinesis powers (sound manipulation/vibration based power) and lovely singing voices. One of the more educated race of Imps, Belphagor has schools of medicine and technology, many Sloth imps work at St. Oozing's Home for the Unwell to perfect the art of medical malpractice. (Imps are drawn more to the harming arts than the healing arts). The sloth imps that get into tech jobs often do grunt work, either in factories or in office settings.

Gluttony: vibrant colors, more reptilian. Can spit venom. Many have frills. Long, prehensile tails. Adept at climbing and survival. Live in tree top communities in the Jungles of Gluttony where there are bountiful psychedelic fruits. High metabolism. Typically laid back, but get aggressive if they go too long without eating. Very community and family-focused. Rarely ever seen on the jungle floor, too many things there that will eat them. When bored of the tree tops, younglings will visit Flesh Pit Park or go on adventures to other rings, oblivious to the rules and caste system beyond their tree top home. With cross-breeds, visible traits are dominant, ability traits are recessive.

Lust: Evolved natural poisons and bright-on-dark coloration to ward off predators. As the Urban sprawls of Lust grew, their poisons weakened in potency and now have minor psychotropic effects that are only deadly in large doses. Different imps have different potencies and effects, but these only develop around puberty, as the poison develops with the endocrine system. In schools, teachers often have to stop their imp students from licking each other in class. These poisons are non-toxic to other lust imps and produce mild pleasurable effects, while for non-imps the poisons can render even large demons incapacitated. The most common poisons are hallucinogenic and cause non-imps to foam at the mouth. Another common poison is depressants, which can knock out a large demon, but not kill them, waking up with splitting headaches. Poisons with stimulant effects are very rare, but the stimulants only have positive effects for imps themselves, and while non-imps can get a "high" from it, the stimulant is too powerful and often results in cardiac arrest. Because of this, Hellborne in Lust refrain from biting imps in combat.

Pride: Beyond the urban sprawls, Pride is home to many misty swamps that addle the mind. Pride imps have evolved to be immune to these swamps as well as magicks that affect the mind. While these small imps don't have any potent magicks themselves besides being able to produce minor illusions to deter predators in the swamps, they are naturally drawn to magic. Many Pride imps seek to the employ of mages such as the goetia, only to be disappointed with roles like butler or maid. Sinners may be at the bottom of Hell's hierarchy, but more Pride Imps have found satisfaction working under Powerful Overlords than the Goetia, as Overlords are more likely to give them evil tasks of mischief and trickery. In turn, however, they risk being ostracized by their imp peers.

TXT's Type of Partner They Need

Okay, so for this reading I will actually focus in on what type of partner would be beneficial for them, rather than ideal partner. I am curious as to what energies pop up here. I also wanted to do a noninvasive energy reading for them, because girlie is way up in their energy too much. We need a break from each other energetically lol So this is more towards the collective/guides as to what they need, let's see if there are similarities to their ideal partner, or if they need a new direction, most probably do from my readings lol but I wanted to see who the right partner at the moment for them would be.

Yeonjun (3 of Swords/Dreams/Sandpiper Spirit) He would need someone who is capable of communicating their hurt and pain. He would need someone with discernment. Also, someone who can help heal his hurt and pain as well. He would need someone is they are feeling any type of hurt or pain in the relationship. He would want them to share those things with him. Instead of keeping it to themselves. Sounds normal though, shouldn't we all. But maybe he ends up with people who doesn't do that, which is why this is stressed here. He may need someone very spiritual. Why I say this is because people who are intuned with their spirituality can be able to remember their dreams more often. It is like they have access to a different portal or dimension, ya'll this is a bit too woo woo, sorry. I go with what I get, I stay real with it. I am just thinking, why is this important! He would also need someone with a vivid and strong imagination. He would need someone very playful and fun, this does not surprise me. Someone he can have fun with, maybe make him forget his worries and struggles. Also, someone very adaptable, not someone who is controlling or strict with things, well this won't be me lol Someone who can do things on the fly and make things fun for him. No one who is predictable and boring tbh, that would be me, so I won't be right for him, ya'll just playing, I am no delulu Anyway lots of messages for him here, so they may want him to figure this sh** out. He may not be picking the right partners to be honest.

Soobin (5 of Coins/Psychic Abilities/Electric Eel Spirit) He would need someone who can handle the struggles of life. Someone who can learn how to deal with less and not having enough. Seriously what is this? Why would he need this? Okay, I heard abandonment issues, and I am asking why that would be something he needs!? Okay, so I looked it up, it is someone who fears losing someone, so I am taking this as he may need someone who would have a fear of losing him and would do anything to keep him. But, umm that isn't healthy. I am not sure why this is a suggestion for a need ya'll. Maybe this partner with abandonment issues can help him somehow learn about himself, I guess. Moving on. He needs someone with strong psychic abilities and intuitive gifts. Someone very perceptive, they don't even have to know they are psychic, but he needs someone who just knows things without being aware of how they know. He would need someone who has great ideas and knows how to bring them forth, but he also needs someone who to help him build the confidence to bring his ideas to life as well. Girl, this group got lots of messages, showing they need help in the love department for sure. I will also say, even though I barely tapped into his energy. I always get a slight headache when I am in his energy. Also, I started his perspective reading and girl, that is hard. His energy is pretty heavy and draining tbh so be prepared for that one. Beomgyu (Knight of Swords/Passion/Spider Spirit) I just like to start to say the Knight of Swords represents his energy so much. He gets this card a lot! Anyway, this about what he needs, but he needs someone with similar energy as him to be honest. Someone honest, straightforward, speaks their mind, someone always with an opinion. A person who may not shut up to be honest lol It is like I am talking about him. He would need someone very communicative, someone he can bounce ideas off of. He would need someone very passionate and yup I heard vulgar, this boy. He needs someone who will talk about anything, I mean anything, do not hold back, dirty jokes will be a thing, so if you are not into that, he isn't the one for you. He needs someone who can handle that. He needs someone creative, someone who has a network of friends or people around them. Someone who can do a lot on their own. He would need someone who has a dream and goes forward with it. So, someone very ambitious as well.

Taehyun (Knight of Coins/Beauty/Horse Spirit) Knight of Coins also represents his energy a lot. Anyway, he needs someone diligent, goal-oriented, patient, slow and steady, type of person. This seems to align with his ideal type. Also, someone who takes their time in relationships, not someone who wants to rush things. He needs someone who knows their beauty and stands in their beauty no matter what. Also, someone willing to face themselves and conquer their inner demons. I am sorry but some of these messages make no sense to me at times. He would need someone who is confident in themselves, their flaws and all. He would need a free-spirit, someone who will not tie him down or restrain him, boy is an Aquarius, ya''ll they love their freedom. He would need someone carefree, probably someone non-conventional or non-traditional. Also, someone who may be okay with not having a conventional relationship. Not sure how that would work though. He may have a hard time finding that in Korea too, but good luck.

Hueningkai (4 of Pentacles/Willpower/Koi Fish Spirit) He would need someone resourceful, someone practical and can save a buck. Why do I feel he doesn't do that, and he may need someone to teach him this. He needs someone who values what they have and know what they have is enough. Okay, this makes sense because he always gives me the vibe that he never has enough and always wants more, so this makes sense that he needs a partner who can reel him in and accept what he has. He needs someone strong willed, someone determined, someone who can stay focused, maybe someone with a lot of self-control. I say he may need someone with strong Earth or Water placements. There isn't much else here. I feel there is a strong message to find someone who is happy with all they have and doesn't ask or seek more in life. I say if he dates someone with his same mindset, that could be messy and chaotic. I just keep getting someone to reel him in, that's all he needs, that's it folks lol

Now I’m curious on what your takes on how Cerebrocrustaceans speak are, given how we’ve been given three separate dubiously canon explanations in the form of “electrostatically vibrating gaseous or liquid mediums”, “mentally projecting their thoughts”, and “secret mind link”

Oh well, if I continue to give cerebrocrustaceans gizzards then I'm totally locking in "electrostatically vibrating gaseous or liquid mediums" because for as much as I do love the sci-fantasy of Ben 10, I also like to kinda pseudo ground biology headcanons in a more uh... naturalistic evolutionary way so that Mutants and Magic au shenanigans can shenanigan and leave room for psychics and [x]pathies hehe-! Honestly Dr Psychobos could probably have one of the two latter ones, having been listed as a 'mutant' cerebrocrustacean despite mostly only having cybernetic enhancements (I wonder if they'd act as the opposite and are psychic limiters a la Saiki K., it's just more convenient to have it on the brain than as external clips *thinking thinking*).

Did you know: Fish on Earth make sounds? It's a lot of clicking, humming, popping, purring, grunting, whooping, snapping, laughing, and foghorns! Some of those sounds technically resemble the buzzing whirr of electricity, or at least the sound of electricity burning gases rather than electricity itself, it's not like it produces soundwaves. I imagine that cerebrocrustaceans especially early on in their history when they were still mostly underwater would have developed a language that sounds like this, especially since sound travels very easily very far underwater, even if only benefiting longer noises over rapid switching of vocalisation as clarity is diminished.

It used to be exclusively electrostatic vibration of water, as it tended to just be there as a basic understanding of life on Encephalonus (the original), where vocalisation and language came from the gizzard. The gizzard often remains empty so that cerebrocrustaceans don't choke on water when feeling hungry and only intakes water to have a pressurised system to push the water out, but to use it in communication would be to hold the water in the gizzard and use the water as a conductor of vibration thus a medium for sound induced by electric organs akin to those in the electric eel. These electric organs, present in the brain as a defense mechanism turned useful tool, were initially present in the gizzard to aid in prey consumption but found a second useage in communication. And even if muffled, a cerebrocrustacean can in fact speak with their mouth full with full cohesion.

When cerebrocrustaceans moved to drier environments, their water-based communication stopped being as effective due to the reliance of needing to be underwater to speak, but with their electric organs working just as fine in the air as in the sea this is where they began learning out to speak with gas. Breathing wise technically cerebrocrustaceans are still exclusively water-breathers, hence the rebreathers over their gills, but their mouth doesn't connect to the respiratory system. Instead their gizzards, using their muscles to depressurise the organ and allow air (and it's specific chemical make up, whatever that ends up being) to fill the gizzards like they would with water, allowing the air and mainly the gizzard itself to vibrate with electrical induction. Functionally, it's a different enough way of speaking that the sounds - even if one can find comparisons between the two and understand that they are of similar phonetics - similar phonetics does not mean the same phonetics and some sounds cannot be produced in the air; all cerebrocrustaceans are functionally bilingual if only due to the fact that water speaking and air speaking are phonotactically unique enough from each other to be considered different languages, even if they never live anywhere else or live exclusively in one environ over the other, global Encephalonus school systems always have water and air dialects on the curriculum in language classes.

Poprock Rat Cookie:

BAM! POP! Looks like none other then Poprock Rat Cookie is nearby, tossing the poprock bombs growing on his hair around for ‘fun and profit’ as he puts it. A well known menace around the Summer Lake community, Poprock Rat Cookie takes great pride in his explosions and world-bending magic. Despite his love of explosions, his favorite weapon is a candy cane scythe crafted long ago. Even so, ever since the flow of ink started spreading through the soda lakes, that playful light in his eyes vanished, replaced by a determined glint hiding a darkness beneath them.

Soda Moth Cookie:

They say this delightful moth cookies is the very essence of summer, with her sweet orange soda hood and sour grape soda skirt, and her chocolate and cream jacket. Even her caramel boots have a delightful sweetness to her! Many speak of her skill manipulating the darker magic of the world, of her candles that banished the most evil of creatures, of the ability to raise fallen monsters with just their heads. Although…. It seems that before the Ink Wave, a force of dark magic even stronger than her own had taking its hold, tainted her otherwise crisp and sweet dough.

Rat was always going to be based off pop rocks, which are one of my favorite candies!!! (If you don’t know what they are, basically they’re small clumps of sugar that fizz / pop in your mouth)

I had a different design for Lux originally, named Sunny Soda, but I liked the moth idea more!

The ink mentioned in their stories is a reference to all the Charter stuff! While playing around with how the story would go, I loved the idea of them taking a small part of this magic in their attempt to take down Blake! (this still fails horrendously)

I personally think they'd be in Ovenbreak, mostly because I am adoring the idea that Soda Moth's skill is similar to Electric Eel's. Do you see it. she turns into an ink creature and bounds around the stage. I am cooking here

Like yes merpeople but ALSO what about merpeople who are specifically half-shark, or the underwater equivalent of giants, half-human/half-whale? We've got the occasional half-human/half-octopus but also yes to half human jellyfish and half human manta rays and not naiads specifically so much as the underwater equivalent of dryads, having the same connection to coral gardens and reefs that dryads do to trees and forests.

Gimme underwater lamias who are actually more accurately half human/half electric eel, with all the associated zapping ability, that lends them insight into electricity and related phenomena they use to build high-tech wonderlands deep beneath the waves.....and far from any shore, underwater travelers fear crossing paths with 'ghosts' which are actually like a supernatural form of jellyfish who wrap their translucent selves around their victims to "possess them."

I want selkies who don't just come ashore to have angsty love affairs with beguiling humans, but who also live in communities deep in arctic regions far away from any human civilization where they carve entire villages and cities into the undersides of icebergs.

Underwater vampiric creatures, maybe lamprey or shark themed, who specifically drink blood for the oxygen in it, as that's what enables them to go 'top side' for awhile before having to retreat back to the depths they're more naturally adapted to live in. Krakens but also a Fae-like version of angler fish who use their lights as an undersea version of will'o'wisps, leading denizens of the deep astray.

Multiple types of undersea shapeshifters, going to and from the surface and the deep, with entirely different branches of the same shapeshifter family trees.....the dolphin shapeshifters of the Mediterranean being descendants of the sailors cursed by Dionysus and having very little in common with the encantado who live in the waters of South America, but often lumped in with each other and sharing similar issues and interactions with other civilizations due to the fact that so many others just assume all dolphin shapeshifters are connected or alike even though they have completely different natures, parameters for their shapeshifting, and an entire spectrum of supernatural abilities with very little actual overlap between the different 'types.'

Not just one god of the sea, but multiple gods of the deep, all associated with their own regions, from Poseidon to Sedna to Tangaroa to Manannán mac Lir and Kimbazi. The deep sea equivalent of druids, cultivating kelp forests and coral groves and gardens warmed and nourished by the undersea volcanoes they're planted in the shadows of. Sorcerers as fixated on trying to control and harness and direct the power and positioning of underwater currents as above-the-sea counterparts are with trying to control the weather.

Narwhales often mistaken for the unicorns of the deep, but only because there actually ARE an undersea version of unicorns for them to get mixed up WITH. Protective amulets and talismans and charms made of sea shells, alchemical potions mixed from octopus ink and kraken blood and marine sinkholes like the Great Blue Hole off the coast of Belize being the undersea equivalent of fairy rings, serving as entrances to a subaquatic Otherworld or Underworld.

The rivers of various pantheons' Underworlds having exit points at multiple places around the world, so there are entire regions considered haunted or places of wild magic because they're where the waters of the Styx or Acheron slip out and get mixed into the ocean, altering the properties of the water in those regions in strange and unpredictable ways.

Deep sea mages using and manipulating pressure in ways there's no above-water equivalent for because on land its not really a natural phenomenon of note or a force of nature all its own, not in the same ways it would be for those who live their entire lives and build cities at depths where the water around them has a weight and power that the air just does not possess for those who do the same at sea level.

A spectrum of sirens, different types and different cultures all with their own unique distinctions....as much as some are associated with seduction, there are other clans with reputations as scavengers, known for sending hunting parties to the surface where they sing down storms to scuttle ships and drag them and their contents down to the depths.

An entire world where there's always a lower depth, a darker chasm, a further mystery just below.....the deepest abysses an uncharted badlands populated by eldritch creatures older than anything else in the world, a pitch dark landscape dotted with the ruins of empires so old nobody remembers they ever existed, let alone what they were called.

Idk, idk, I just think there's so much more to be mined from the sheer wealth of sea creatures and concepts and phenomena and traditional mermaids and selkies and sirens, cool as they are, are really just the tip of the iceberg. And we have gotten a couple cool glimpses of undersea civilizations and how wild and colorful they can be in the last decade or so in cinema, but again....tip of the iceberg. There's soooooo much more that can be done, I'm just like. *vibrates in place wanting it all*
