sometimes i get really sad because i feel like i'm wasting my college years. i haven't made very many friends, and the friends i do have don't really like to make plans, or at least, they don't like to make plans with me. i want to go to the christmas village downtown but can't because i'd feel so terribly lonely and pathetic if i went alone. i don't go out or party very much, not anymore. i spend so much of my time and energy honestly trying to keep myself alive. i wrote in my journal, "i am so afraid to face my seventeen-year-old self, when all i have to offer is that at least i'm still alive." i hold within me the bittersweet celebration that i'm twenty, when for so many years i never believed i'd make it past eighteen. i also hold within me the grief that i've missed out on so much of life because i was genuinely fighting to keep myself alive. it's a weird feeling, to mourn the things i missed out on, years of my life
