as a fellow psychic, this is your life with the sakadays family, especially with shin
"stop bothering me about my ass! and no! i was not looking at you!"
asakura shin x telekinetic!reader (i'm literally crazy)
─ ⟢
+ unlike shin's accidental awakening of a clairvoyant, you're the product of constant testing. that means you're probably full of not-so-great memories of the place you grew up in where kids were being manipulated into drinking purple liquid and hopefully develop powers, but you're part of sakamoto's family now! hurray!
+ no one suspected that you had an ability at the start. it's not a common occurrence that someone has supernatural powers, but they probably figured out from either a) you pulled off jaw-dropping moves like blocking bullets by launching tables triple your size, or b) they caught you chucking detergent onto the shelves without lifting a single finger. no in-between. heisuke might've got it from the latter.
+ you can lift practically anything, but the heavier it is, the harder it becomes. clearly, lifting hana and playing bird-girl is a lot more doable than shifting sakamoto onto the second floor just because he doesn't want to climb the stairs. aoi-san and lu are also ok, shin and heisuke feel like a little pebble in your hands, whereas sakamoto-san would always feel like you're holding a 5kg dumbbell. it's ok if it's for a second, but any longer and it only starts to ache.
+ "ugh, i have to move all of this because shin refused to do it!" lu would cry out, then not-so-subtly glance at you. "my poor arms have to do this work!" then with a dramatic eye-roll, you'd walk over and swing your arm in an arch, re-arranging all the new ramen packets that sakamoto-san had delivered. lu would envelop you in such a tight hug, "thanks so much! at least someone around here loves me enough to help!" then shin's sulking later only (just a tad!) because lu said that you love her.
+ and so now that your powers were in the clear, you had become such a hot topic in the family. sakamoto wouldn't really make it a big deal because he's always had shin, but he's probably never met a psychic before, so he's a little curious. shin will be gobsmacked because goddamn he scored. a badass partner for free? well, life-threatening issues such as chasing down that bounty on sakamoto's head does come as a fee for everyone, but shin's still grateful that you're there with him. he thinks it's awesome that he has someone else who can kick ass as well as him. maybe even better!
+ he will 100% suggest fighting strategies by combining his powers and yours. because you can't read minds, your plans might be something along the lines like you're the main offence while he's on guard for whatever you tell him. you'd be at the front letting him know (all telepathically, of course) of your surroundings like how many enemies or a rough sketch of the location so that he can use all of that to plan ahead. might get into silly arguments because you ran into some problems, but it's a success most of the time!
+ your powers will absolutely be exploited by sakamoto's family. need a big order to be moved that sakamoto can't be assed to do himself? ok, you're on the job, time to put that mind to work and shift some disgustingly heavy boxes. hana wants to go flying? ok! just make sure she doesn't hit the ceiling, otherwise, YOU might go flying from a certain dad. heisuke wants help carrying fifty bags of buns home? ok buddy, that is not going to be for free though. lu just can't be bothered to work? that's a no.
+ shin might be relieved to know that there's someone else on the team who they can rely on when it comes to mental prowess. sure, his ability is really handy, but sometimes, it can get a bit tiring when it's the only thing that's being used. you might be one of the only other people who really understands him
+ similarly to how shin is limited to a certain radius, your powers are only convenient with things in sight. if it's right in front of you, it's no biggie at all, but if it's to the point where you have to squint and lean forward to figure out what the hell it is you're looking at, that's where your brain starts to melt as you try to get it to move.
+ he's your no.1 supporter all the way. might get into spats with lu fighting for that spot, but everyone knows that he'll do everything he can to ensure your safety and that all your limbs are in place BECAUSE GOD FORBID everyone gets out unscathed
+ because shin can read minds and just sometimes you want to tease him, you and lu would purposely think things like "shin's an idiot!" "nice ass, shin" or "i know you're looking at me" to the point where he comes stomping over, demanding with ears as red as an apple, "stop bothering me about my ass! and no! i was not looking at you!"
+ he really wants to impress you, so you bet he'll exploit his powers to tap into your mind and figure out what you want. let's say you're craving your favourite food, he just so happens to have it delivered to the front of the store at your most ravenous state. at the very beginning you thought it was a genuine coincidence until it started becoming very specific like that extra topping or how many pumps of syrup in your drink. you know now, of course, and shin knows that you know too. he doesn't stop though
+ if shin's your number one fan, hana is for both. she's a big you and shin lover. whenever she sees one of you without the other, she's bound to ask, "where's shin/(name)? are you guys not together?" and honestly, shin's so happy that he's always associated with you. if you're not there, he'd crouch down to her height and say, "it's just me, right now. it'll be the both of us soon, then we can all play together!"
+ seeing you in action has always sent a thrill to his spine. be it good or bad, his instinct to protect you is always the same. he knows you're very capable, very, as he watches you hurl two fire trucks with a swipe of your hands. he's like, "woah . . . wow . . . " he's so impressed and knows that you're not one to mess with. he holds real sympathy to those who underestimate you.
+ obviously, word that sakamoto has a clairvoyant on his team is already out. shin's powers are good, so it's no surprise that people would target him first since he is really useful. unlike that, at the start, you wouldn't be as well known because the sakamoto family all agreed to keep you under wraps just in case people start going for you too. it's only when you join them on more missions that you have to start using your psychokinesis to help, which garners more unwanted attention.
+ shin would definitely hate that. he once saw this sign with your face that had all the pros and cons of your powers in bullet points, and this urge to rip whoever created this to shreds was indescribable. if you already know about the flyer, he'd ask if you always knew. if you didn't, he'd probably keep quiet for a while and confirm it with sakamoto. he'd hate how you're becoming a target when he would much rather it just be him.
+ but seeing you put your life on the line just like everyone else makes him nervous yet so proud. he looks up to you in a way that he's so glad that someone accepted him and that no matter what you went through, you're still pushing through. if you ever get injured, his eyes would fly open, panic rushing through his entire body like an adrenaline rush uncalled for. logic would fade from his mind as he'd hold you and rush through the building for the exit and nearest hospital. there can't be anything worse than losing his family, losing you.
+ if it isn't serious, he'd bandage you up right there and then, staring so intently with all the emotions in his eyes with comments like "idiot, i told you this isn't easy. look at you, getting me to patch you up" or "it stings, yeah? well, you gotta suck it up until we get back home. maybe if you're lucky, i can piggyback you." he stares with so much love, his brows furrowed and jaw clenched, that it lowkey gets you flustered because how can one look at someone so deeply? it's as if he's locked onto your soul and is transmitting his thoughts, despite your inability to read minds, into your heart.
+ but if it's really bad, he'd yell in your face to hang in there and not close your eyes. would beg sakamoto to run as fast he can to get you to the nearest hospital. would refuse to leave your side unless he's physically dragged away and he'd remain stoic for the rest of the week or until you're discharged. not even lu or heisuke would be able to make him crack a smile. hana would barely manage to earn a small quirk of the lip, but unless he's sure that you're ok, he's not.
+ once you're better, he's dashing to you. he's never letting you go, he never ever wants to go through that again, and he'd reprimand you so hard that you genuinely feel bad. he wouldn't go overboard with the scolding, just enough so that you know he truly cares for you. everyone's happy that you're all healed though!
+ you'd try help aoi-san with dinner from time to time. hana would also be there, asking if she can cut carrots with her star-shaped cutter. you'd agree as long as you're watching her and she's so happy! everyone else would probably be downstairs tending to the store until dinner's ready, but when shin comes up a little earlier than the rest and sees you participating in the domestic chores with aoi-san, his heart just swoons. bro is so in love, how does he even show it? he'd look over your shoulder and even if you're doing amazing, he'd tease, "what's that meant to be?" but most of the time, he's like, "looks good. can't wait to eat it."
+ it's a family you'd never trade anything for. the peace you relish in is incomparable and you believe that you owe everyone so much for what they've done. of course, minus the deadly threats that come your way, but it's nothing compared to every positive thing that happens in your saka-family life!!

Okok gonna face my fears and send this off anon . . . ♡ I woke up at 6am and have been plagued by the concept of yan!satosugu with idol darling like all morning
Walk with me here okokokokok. So like satoru obviously has like sooo much money. What if just to get a break from focusing on sorcery all the time he became a sponsor or even producer for a very cute girlypop idol group,,, (and yes I do think he would be kinda weird/creepy to idol darling, especially with how he views himself as basically untouchable (I mean he has enough money to pay the right people off) sooo).
That’s where suguru comes in (I see this as a mostly canon-compliant geto never defected au). Obviously he would want to keep up with what his best friend is up to, so he’s like a day one supporter of said idol group. With how the japanese idol industry seems to have a focus on the youth and purity of female idols, I could definitely see suguru wanting to “protect his oshi’s innocence” . . .
So if (let’s be honest, WHEN) satosugu bring idol darling home, I could totally see suguru just absolutely babying the poor girl to kind of a weird infantilizing degree?? If that makes sense?? Like very much trying to condition darling into relying on them for everything
I would assume that satoru would be a lot more upfront about how much of a gross perv he is (especially since he probably mistreated the group members to some extent)
I think they would expect total compliance from darling, but if darling ever acts up I can’t help but think one of their go-to punishments would be forcing her to perform the groups choreographies with some sort of “handicap” ie vibrator taped to her pussy at the full speed (and yes they would probably reprimand if she messes up - gotta make sure their number one idol isn’t missing practice!!
Speaking of missing practice/group activities, I fully believe it is within satoru’s capabilities to spread the narrative that darling just kinda . . . suddenly “graduated” from the group and left without a trace, so therefore the other members shouldn’t worry about her and should instead just resume group activities!! (I could also see satosugu using this as some kind of mental leverage over idol darling - like “hey, your group is actually way more popular now that you’ve left”)
Sorry gang I fear I let the thoughts simmer for too long . . .
please let me know your thoughts :3
tw - non/con, kidnapping, idol exploitation, long-term stalking, and obsessive behavior.
WAIT may i suggest: suguru and satoru as parasocial ultra-fans of the same idol as kind of an escapism thing from the stress of being some of the world's most powerful sorcerers, with satoru having the fortune to completely devote himself to making him and suguru your #1 fans. you start to recognize them around the fifth time they miraculously appear at the very front of the line for your post-concert meet-and-greet, but since they're a little bit older and they always have a small gaggle of shy, but polite preteens with them, you just assume they're a pair of wealthy fathers eager to fuel their kids' shared fixation. sure, it's a little strange that the white-haired man always seems more excited to shake your hand than his standoffish son, and it does raise a few concerns when the twin girls spend the majority of their time with you gushing about their black-haired father, but you're a very popular idol with a very busy schedule. you don't have a lot of time to think about one strange family out of the hundred or so you'll meet, that night.
you don't have a lot of time to think about them until your group starts getting extravagant, expensive gifts and donations - always paired with the a gushing fan letter and always sent from one of two increasingly familiar names. since you always seem to be the primary focus, you're the one pressured by your producers to film 'thank you' videos that are just a little too intimidate, to post the type of pictures your generous sponsors compliment the most heavily more often than you may like to. it gets to the point where you're being asked how you'd feel about ""private shows"" to ""ensure the support of a select demographic"", but you adamantly refuse every time it's brought up. it's enough to have to deal with satoru's touchiness at your handshake events, suguru's prying gaze from his permanent seat in the front row of your group's concerts. you don't need to be trapped in the same room as them, alone and all-but paid to cooperate, to know that you want as little to do with them as possible.
that is, until your producer slips you a drink that's just a little too bitter during rehearsal and you wake up in a large room decorated entirely with your merch and memorabilia, to satoru's head between your thighs and suguru behind you, an arm wrapped around your waist and his chin propped on your shoulder as he tells you about how excited they are to finally meet their favorite idol in person, how patiently they've been waiting for you to finally retire and take on a more domestic lifestyle. they'll be delighted to find out that, because of how long you've been in the industry and how protective your fans can be, you're still very much a virgin, and you very much need your two biggest fans to show you what you've been missing <3 if you're lucky, they'll even add pictures of your first climax to the shrine they've been building since they day they first discovered you, the shrine they're going to be keeping you inside of from now on. you might be crying, sure, begging to be let go, but that's alright.
in time, you'll realize how lucky you are to have such devoted fans.

am i being stupid by refusing to invest any of my money? i just don’t find it ethical (lots of people have 0 idea what theyre actually invested in with typical low risk investments and it would actually drive me nuts to have to investigate every single thing thats on there) and i also have zero faith in the stability of the economy or the world i just literally don’t trust like that. and fear that with climate change i’m not going to have a traditional future or retirement anyway. is this incredibly stupid i’m being so genuine because i dont know
I think your ethical concerns are totally reasonable. Any investment in the stock market is pretty inherently fraught, even if you choose index funds that exclude the especially bad stocks of like firearms/military contractors/etc. Even something like a bond can be easily said to be bad, because it's a loan to the government, and most money market or high yield savings are not untainted either, because most banks themselves invest in fucked up shit like oil pipelines. The one avenue I think that would be mostly okay is a high yield savings account for a credit union, or a bank that you've researched and know doesn't invest in that kind of shady shit. I have also argued previously that it's not wrong to invest in an apartment or house -- as long as you're not landlording, vulnerable people having more secure housing and the ability to share that housing with others in their community is good and understandable. So on balance, I get where you are coming from, though I think having a financial safety net makes people less likely to have to take on unethical jobs and makes them less vulnerable to financial abuse and exploitation, which has merit ethically.
I tend to see the doomerism question a bit differently. If the US empire falls or the economy collapses, you'll either have much bigger problems than your 401k bottoming out (problems like the complete obliteration of the supply chain), OR we will be living in a financial paradigm so dramatically different and more just that you wont MIND that you dont have that money anymore. Whereas if the US economy continues to exist, you're gonna be fucked if you dont have a retirement to fall back on, so why make yourself needlessly more vulnerable by not saving? The ethical rub with this, though, is that it creates the moral hazard of rooting for the US empire and economy to never fall, and that rendering you more conservative... which is a possibility, but like, as i said, i think it's possible to have some money saved for a rainy day under capitalism while still praying for capitalism's downfall. if anything, being more financially independent makes it EASIER for me to risk unemployment & etc by doing more radical political actions and speaking my mind and saying no to things. but ymmv

Platonic yandere: Childe, Scaramouche, Aether and Xiao
With an innocent fem! Reader.
[Warnings: none,]

Childe
Childe most likely met you out on a mission. Maybe you were just skipping around Liyue Harbor or collecting flowers; either way, he would be drawn to your innocent and air-headed energy. You would likely remind him of one of his siblings, which would lead to him accompanying you, as your naïve nature would be a bit concerning. Naturally, he would take on the role of acting as your protector. He would definitely treat you like a little sibling, that's for sure—waffling on about his accomplishments and generally acting like a cool older brother.
Expect piggyback rides and gifts. Oh, you made him a flower crown? He's keeping it forever. Scraped your knee running around? He's fussing over it. Your innocent nature would also make things easier for him, and just like with Teucer, he'll most likely keep his Fatui affiliations secret. All you need to know is that he's always there for you.
Over time, he will progressively become more overbearing, eyeing the people around you with suspicion, as he believes you're too naïve to figure out when someone has ill intentions—and he would like to keep it that way. In all honesty, your innocence is something that he feels must be protected, no matter the cost.

Scaramouche
Scaramouche probably met you during one of his exploits in Inazuma. At first, your presence was nothing but a nuisance. You might have approached him with innocent questions, curious about who he was-questions he found irritating, especially when he felt the hollow spot where his heart should have been shiver slightly, a reminder of a certain child whenever he looked at you.
Scaramouche would do his best to keep his distance, acting cold and often laughing to himself at your naïve, innocent nature. But something in him itched when he saw you wandering around, your wide eyes taking in everything with such unguarded curiosity. He couldn’t stand it. Yet, somehow, he still found himself scoffing as he accepted the rather shabby flower you handed him.
That split second of vulnerability would be his downfall. He began to let you stay by his side more often, responding to your upbeat questions with little more than grunts or short answers. But he would be lying if he said he hadn’t grown used to your presence. In fact, he’d send a death glare to anyone or anything that dared interrupt the moments you shared.
Over time, an uncharacteristically softer gaze took over his expression whenever he looked at you. Sometimes, he’d even let you cling to his arm or seek shelter under his hat when it started to rain. Your innocence was... refreshing. And he’d protect it fiercely. The filth of the cruel world wouldn’t taint it...not on his watch.

Aether
Aether most likely came across you on his travels, helping you out with something and being drawn in by your innocent nature. He would walk alongside you as you innocently waffled on about what you had done that day. He would take his time telling you about all the things he had done on his travels, taking pride in how your face would light up in awe when he recounted some of his fights and the things he had seen. By all accounts, he would be an amazing hero in your eyes.
But Aether would find himself concerned at how careless and naïve you were, making him feel on edge and constantly glancing your way. So he took it upon himself to be your bodyguard of sorts, walking around the city with you. He would always try to help you with anything and everything, no matter how small. In a way, he missed having someone to take care of...that being said, he won't take no for an answer.
Looking for a few herbs? Don’t worry, he’ll fetch them for you! Can’t reach something? He's already behind you, grabbing it. And so on and so forth. The traveler really does mean well, so it would be rather rude of you to decline, wouldn’t it? And it's not like you have much choice in accepting his help, either way.

Xiao
Xiao would be cautious at first around you. Maybe he rescued you from some monsters you came across near the inn. He would tell you to be careful and insist you call his name if something happens.
He would be rather distant but not outright cold when it came to you. He would feel a little off-put by your innocent and naïve nature, making you seem too fragile to be around him. But his worries would get the better of him as he began silently tailing you when you ran off alone at times. You just seemed so... brittle to him. Even though he was afraid of you constantly being near him, it didn’t feel right to leave you on your own, and so he allowed himself to lower his walls just a bit.
He would let you put flower crowns on his head, and although not engaging much, he wouldn’t push you away, finding your presence rather soothing. This would lead to him being even more of a silent shadow, always extra cautious of any threats.
He’s always there, even if you don’t realize it...so be careful.

Yae Miko x Ganyu-like!Male!Kitsune!Reader
CW: None. Pure fluff.
For Miko, there's nothing cuter than you in the entire world.
Kitsune tend to be confident, slightly malicious and crafty by nature, yet there you are. A complete opposite of her, and the traditional traits of the Kitsune race as a whole.
But Miko? She is all for it.
You’re quite the shy person, making you especially vulnerable to teasing. Even a slight remark sent your way is able to knock you off balance, leaving you flustered and blushy. Your occasional attempts at turning the tables usually end with Miko being able to effortlessly steer the conversation in her favor, and use your teasing attempts against you.
Words are one thing, but physical contact? Sometimes Miko is genuinely worried you will melt or set on fire after she does something as ordinary as holding your hand or tracing her fingers along your back or neck areas. Maybe this timidness of yours, cute as it is, has some downsides? Luckily for you, Miko doesn’t exploit your weak spot to keep you a constant flustered mess. It’s not like she has the heart to.
Why? Because you work so, so much. How can you do nine or ten hour shifts on a regular, weekly basis? And spend all this time slouching over paperwork too? For Miko, two forms to fill is a personal tragedy, but you seem to be able to handle whole mountains of documents with unshaken resolve. A truly fascinating creature you are.
She doesn’t like the overtime you constantly take on, however. The core of the issue isn’t that you’re a pushover - though Miko is genuinely worried that your lack of confidence will get you in trouble some day - but that your work ethic, admirable as it is, stands as fairly rigid and harmful to yourself. Miko tries her best to convince you to change - she tries to reason with you, bribe you with extra affection or threaten you with being grumpy if you don't come home when you should. Sometimes it works, most times it doesn't. Luckily, being close friends with Ei has benefits - a few right words whispered into her ear will land you some much needed leave.
When you finally return home, so adorably spent and sleepy, Miko won't spoil the daylights out of you. No - she will spoil not only the daylights, but also nightlights, dawnlights and dusklights. You will always be greeted with a warm meal and a warm bath. As your wife, it's her duty to care for you and reward all your efforts, no? Her skittish little husband brings out quite a motherly side of her out into the light. And rightfully so - you deserve more than the entire world.
Once you’re full and relaxed, Miko’s going to cuddle you right to sleep. She’ll gladly let you rest your cute, weary face on her lap or her belly. As you drift off, Miko will play with your hair and ramble about whatever comes to her mind in a whispered tone, marveling at how peaceful your sleeping features are.
While certainly not the typical Kitsune, you're certainly a fine specimen. Big, fluffy ears, beautiful tails and an even more cuddly fox form make you all the more precious (and handsome) in her eyes. But you don't seem to share her opinion. You are always noticeably shy when somebody mentions your unique features, even more so than usual. It's all about standing out, you try to tell her, but she always silences you with a kiss. Miko will always tell you that your ears are a point of pride and a source of respect for you, not a stigma. The respectful interest in your person doesn't seem to convince you of the benefits of being a fox envoy, so maybe her attention will, hm? Expect a lot of care directed at your special features. Miko will not only caress them, but also groom them. Such beautiful fur needs proper maintenence, and it's her privilage to indulge you.
You’re a bit more vertically challenged than her, but she doesn’t mind. Not at all. Your compact size makes you much easier to handle, and - aside from the obvious teasing opportunities - give her just the right tool to take care of your health. Finished work, but you want to do some at home? Nope. She’s going to grab you and carry you away to bed where she will cuddle all your senseless overworking impulses out of you. You say you need to work on a weekend? Good luck trying to get out of her iron grip and the deathold of her five fluffy tails in the morning. Miko is far stronger than she looks!
Unlike her, You’re quite innocent. While her idea of spending the evening after a nice date is, shall we say, a bit “for adults only”, you? Battleships, cookies and hot cocoa - that is what’s on your mind. Sometimes, Miko can’t help but chuckle at you and shake her head in disbelief. How can you be so cute so effortlessly?
Your natural gentleness is very adorable. Miko can’t recall a time when you were raising your voice, aside from the one time when she took you on a date to the Test Of Courage. It was your idea initially - maybe you wanted to impress her by showing your bravery? She’s not sure. At first, Miko was quite amused at how anxious you were, but as soon as she realized just how tightly you held on to her, she got you out of there. Aside from lots of cuddles and kisses to calm your heart, you got a stern yet gentle lecture.
Miko loves you as is, and there’s nothing she would ever change about you.

Thanks for reading!

Debunking Nonsense Against Jared
There's apparently some crap about Jared that is just absolute nonsense. Full of lies and bullshit.
It'd be one thing if people just didn't like him. It happens. Not everyone is likeable. You're not expected to like him. But don't pull up lies to explain why you don't like him. Especially when they've been debunked again and again and again.
1. The "racist" tattoo. Y'all, this is nonsense. It's been debunked over and over and over. It's not a racist tattoo. For one, it's lacking the logo of "Come and take it", which would make it a racist tattoo. But a lone star above a cannon does not a racist tattoo make.

Jared is a proud Texan. He also donates to many a charity and organization that help people, speaking out about them often. Not to mention, prior to pro-gun rights appropriating the symbol and logo, it stood for a proud history in Texas. Jared would've known.
So how about instead of focusing on a mere tattoo, come up with more proof that Jared is a racist? Hmm?
Besides, if you're mad at Jared's tattoo, are you then mad at Jensen's t-shirt, which did show the saying as well?

2. Fighting with fans online. Oh come on. Misha's done it. (Misha's done worse, in fact.) Danneel's done it. Jared doing it does not a bad person make. And I don't think he's done it in a long time.

And of course, people will go "Danneel was hitting back!" And? What's the difference? Jared was hitting back too. Danneel went a step farther most of the time, siccing her followers on them, threatening them with Clif, even ran crying to Clif because people were being "mean".
3. RE: Prequelgate. Give me a fucking break! Jared was right to be upset! He called and texted Jensen for hours before he gave up and responded to that tweet about The Winchesters announcement. Jensen also lied about not being allowed cellphones on The Boys set. When they weren't filming, they were allowed. (Of course they can't have their cellphones on their person during filming, unless it suited the scene!) Besides all that, Jared honestly didn't know about it! Kripke was even shocked when he learned Jared didn't know! Supernatural and its legacy is as much Jared's as it was Jensen's! The whole freakin' industry gave Jensen a massive side-eye for his unprofessional behavior. Kevin Smith, a man who has directed, written, and acted in the industry, thought it was uncool. Also, Jared wasn't drunk.
4. Supposed bully accusations. I'd need to see more of this to believe it, but outside of occasionally putting Misha in his bullshit place, I've never heard of Jared bullying anyone. Everyone he's worked with has sung his praises. The only one who hasn't is Misha and that's because Jared won't let Misha put him down. And in fact, has had to step in to stop Misha from torturing Jensen. So fuck off with your noise.
5. His fanbase. Is he now responsible for his fanbase? I never knew that. What about Misha's fanbase sending Jensen death threats for denouncing Destiel? Has Misha ever stopped that? What about AAs hoping for Jared to suicide after Walker was cancelled?
6. What about Genevieve? Oh come on! Do I like that Gen is featuring the kids a lot? Myself, no. But if Jared was truly bothered by it, I'm sure he would've spoken to Genevieve. And Gen isn't any different than many other mommy influencers. I'm not keen on exploiting the kids like that, but would you say the same about Danneel abruptly grabbing the kids at Wales Comic Con and dragging them out for a photo op? All because she had no one in line for her autographs and desperate for attention?
7. Jared's Hair. Apparently there are some claiming Jared had gotten hair plugs. My response to that is: So what? Misha's had plastic surgery (trust me, it's obvious--his eyes and clearly lip fillers). Danneel's had worse--her hair is fried, bad extensions, plastic surgery galore that has ruined her hair line because of facelifts, fillers, Botox, and breast implants (twice!). Jensen's likely had a bit of work too.
So. Fucking. What. About Jared's hair?
--
Come up with truthful reasons to hate Jared, hmm? Not bullshit.

hi! i hope you feel better soon!
i was wondering if you plans for continuing your ‘legions reacting to their primarch’s partner’ series ?
have a good one :) 🐊
Part 1, Part 2
Author's Note: Sure, here's the rest of them :3
Relationships: Implied Leman Russ/Reader, AlphariusOmegon/Reader, Sanguinius/Reader, Lorgar/Reader, Ferrus Manus/Reader, Mortarion/Reader, Jaghatai Khan/Reader, Horus/Reader, Fulgrim/Reader, Corvus Corax/Reader (A NOTE: almost all of these are gender neutral, but a few might have the term mother or another female term in it, so fair warning)
Warnings: None really
➧ Space Wolves:
Pretty average. They're definitely one of the better legions to be around if you're a baseline human, as they're not only pretty chill, but actually somewhat... nice? By Astartes standards.
You enjoy listening to them tell battle stories around the bonfire or whatever you're all camped around, and they like how easy it is to impress you with their feats of strength. Evenings can quickly devolve into one on one duels if you're around, and there's enough Mjød involved. Impressing Wolf Mother with your spur of the moment honor duel is the height of accomplishment, for a hammered Space Wolf.
You would hope Russ would stop these shenanigans, but you’ll find yourself disappointed when he joins in, brawling his own Astartes for your attention that he already has.
They also all find it absolutely hilarious when you use one of their tamed Fenrisian wolves as a mount, as it puts you at eye level with them.
➧ Alpha Legion:
Your relationship with Alpharius & Omegon is as ambiguous as how the Alpha Legion Astartes feel about you.
They don't like the twins having a potential weak spot that can be exploited by enemies, and their myriad of plans and spiderweb of secrets could get easily unraveled; But if the twins brought you into the inner circle, they’ll place trust that they did it for a reason.
It's just a bit, disorienting having so many men- some of which look very similar- coming in and out of your life. The twins know that you can tell them apart from their legion lookalikes (somehow and it pisses them off), but they still find it funny to try and slip things past you.
➧ Blood Angels:
As one of the kinder chapters, you being brought into the fold is of little resistance, largely because they see how happy Sanguinius is when you're around. They may be battle hardened warriors, but they find it difficult to express their worries when their Primarch has never looked happier holding your much tinier hand.
However the Blood Angels already have a protective (border-lining on obsessive) nature with their Primarch, and that is something that now extends in fold to anyone Sanguinius is close to. Being you.
Do not expect to go anywhere with any less than three fully armored Blood Angels. They will glare at anyone who comes close, they will scold anyone who speaks to you without proper prose, and you will have to deal with it. Some may have a developing soft spot for their kind Legion Mother which allows you to order them around, but they are very strict in this regard.
And Sanguinius will not stop it; Because he feels the same way as them, he's just better at hiding it.
➧ Word Bearers:
Largely neutral at first, but over time they begin to warm up to you as Lorgar's loving gazes and borderline worshipping talk wears on them. It also helps that they have some non-violent experience with other humans.
There are some however who don't approve of your closeness to Lorgar; Especially as it becomes more obvious that Lorgar's priorities are changing, and his distractions are getting worse. You becoming the idée fixe of Lorgar's mind is more than a bit concerning for some members of the legion, particularly ones touched by Kor Phaeron.
They hold their tongues, but you know they don't like whenever the two of you are alone. You've heard the word 'temptress' uttered more than once.
➧ Iron Hands:
Extremely blunt, and to the point. like the Imperial Fists, but without the protective streak. Iron Hand brutal efficacy doesn't exactly mix with the slow nurturing of what one could consider romance.
But you show genuine interest in the practices of the legion and don't impede on their chapter traditions, so the Iron Hands suppose it could be worse. They'd much rather their Primarch not be distracted however, and that is a theme that will remain present in any conversation regarding you for a long while. Expect them to basically ignore you for the first portion of your relationship with Ferrus.
Rude...
➧ Death Guard:
The Death Guard are one of the legions that is definitely more conflicted about the whole thing.
On one hand they say that he will end up distracted, eyes pulled away from his crusade to more frivolous things like romance. But on the other hand, if it does away with some of Mortarion's depressive moue, then they can bite their tongues about it. Either way, they definitely aren't fans of it, and you'll more than hear about it.
Legion meetings are, more than a bit stressful. Mortarion often times comes back ragged and angry after being told he should be rid of you.
Things are strained. You hope they'll level out with time.
➧ White Scars:
Probably one of the better legions to be in. Helps that they don't despise baseline humans, and actually know how to smile sometimes.
It's refreshing to be around Astartes who are a little less, stuck up, something you say under your breath not long after being officially introduced to them. They find it absolutely hilarious.
You have a few Astartes you're a bit more familiar with that Jaghatai trusts to be your personal guard, in the rare moments he isn't close. Pretty chill all around.
Unless there's about seven of them all eagerly surrounding you trying to teach you different Chogoran words, then it's significantly less chill.
Also jetbike rides sound rad af
➧ Luna Wolves:
They have their doubts as all legions do, but given Horus' charisma it isn't long before they toss those doubts aside, and quickly welcome you into the fold at Horus' side.
Also similar to the Blood Angels in that they get near feral protecting their genefather's beloved. It's like his obsessive nature somehow has somehow manifested or has been genetically implanted in them. Horus always makes sure you have a guard at your side, no matter where you go.
It was all fine at first, but now you're beginning to feel a bit like a prisoner.
➧ Raven Guard:
The Raven Guard are pretty tame all things considered. While conversations tend to be respectfully brief, you've noticed overtime that it's less so disinterest, and more a so near nervous formality. It's almost like they don't know how to talk to a baseline human woman for more than a few moments. It's, cute.
Nykona doesn't seem to mind you though; Largely because he overheard you mumble that you think his armor is the most impressive out of all of the Raven Guard Astartes during a sparring session between him and Corax.
Overall, they’re happy Corvus is happy, and as long as his main mission isn’t compromised, they’re content to have you here.
While most legions say ‘Legion Mother’ however, the Raven Guard tend to use the title ‘Raven Mother’ instead when being formal. When they started saying that instead of just legion mother, you noticed how it intertwines with how they refer to Corvus.
Once you realized you got a little bit too excited they’d finally started accepting you, and scared the shit out of no less than three guards by abruptly crying.
➧ The Emperor's Children:
They do enjoy being around humans that can appreciate the arts, and they don't hold much ill will towards you as the jewel of their Primarch's eye. If anything, they seem almost pleased their Primarch is able to pursue such things. You're welcomed into the fold with little fanfare, and Legion business continues on with nary a peep about Fulgrim's new wife.
Many of them create things for you, which while incredibly sweet, makes Fulgrim a little miffed if you show too much joy about it. He just gets a bit jealous, but it's harmless. You find it kind of cute.

Figured I should post this on it's own since @au-sonic-smackdown has already begun (but I kept forgetting so... a few days later it is lmao)
I'll take this as a chance to ramble a little about this AU as well- putting under the cut tho bc it's gonna get a bit long and is probably a bit disjointed lol
So Sonic in this AU is immortal, right? He's like a demigod kinda. But so are Shadow and Tails (Shadow being the Ultimate Lifeform and Tails being a kitsune). They live far into the future, long enough to meet Silver as a child and see him grow, and will live far longer still.
Sonic is a nomad and lives anywhere as long as it's off the grid. He doesn't like other people knowing of his immortality out of fear that it will be exploited somehow. Eggman Nega would eventually prove that fear true, and some of his scars are from encounters with him.
(Some scars are from his childhood, but the prominent one running down his torso and the one in his ear, as well as a few other big ones covered by bandages, are relatively recent. They're indicative of some of the ways he has died before, if you're willing to take a guess.)
Shadow has taken over the role as Mobius' current hero, at least in the eyes of the public, but Sonic has remained a hero of legend. Silver also does his fair share of hero-ing, too, and is constantly chasing after Nega and foiling his plans with Shadow's help. Sonic will come in and help often, but leaves just as quickly as he came, often remaining unseen.
Meanwhile, Tails uses his kitsune powers to appear as a regular fox and hide his status as immortal. He poses as a local mechanic in Onyx City (the city from Archie Sonic Universe's Silver Age arc, but like. A good future instead of a dystopia) and helps Shadow and Silver covertly with his advanced tech.
When he's not saving the world from impending doom, Sonic either wanders the world to find places to nap in, hangs out with Tails or Shadow, or is hunted down by Nega.
Sonic's immortality allows him to regenerate and come back whenever he dies. The Chaos Energy inside of him won't let him die, he just heals and comes back, but it often leaves a scar, especially if the injury is severe. It's left him with chronic pain and fatigue. He uses a cane he carved himself out of a stick, unless in werehog form, where he just walks on all fours instead.
As a werehog, he's extremely irritable and pretty feral, but since he can control when he transforms most of the time (except new moons), he avoids transforming unless the boost in strength is absolutely necessary.
He's gotten pretty attached to lots of old things that remind him of his friends. Even if those things have started to decay, he hoards them in secret burrows across the world and refuses to let them go. His memory is not the greatest and has gotten worse as he aged, so he holds onto things that remind him of his late friends to ensure they live on in some way.
Anyways, that's all I have for now. Go vote for your favorite Sonic in the smackdown!

Every Night
Pairing: Han Solo x Reader
Fandom: Star Wars (Original Trilogy)
Summary: Han talks to you every night to help you get to sleep. Tonight, you stay up a little later, and find out what Han talks about after he thinks you're asleep.
Warnings: None!
*******
Laying down with Han at the end of the day was always what you were looking forward to most when you got up in the morning. After all the smuggling, fighting, and running you would do with Chewie, it was nice to lay back and relax with the love of your life.
Maybe that was why you felt yourself falling towards sleep much faster with Han than you would've been without him.
"Back in those days, they didn't have marcinium detectors like they do now. It was much easier for Chewie and I to run trips between Nolana and Quermec." Han was quietly talking, like he always was after lights out. It helped you to get to sleep faster.
What it probably was was the adrenaline of the day that kept you awake just a little bit longer than normal. The three of you had been caught smuggling ten barrels of an illegal substance across a star system. Being arrested would have been inconvenient, to say the least. But I digress, the point was by the time your breath had evened out and you were completely comfortable, you were still just enough awake to hear Han talk. And talk he did.
After a slight pause, which you later realized was Han assessing whether or not you were asleep, he started talking about something other than his and Chewie's exploits before you came along.
"...I wish you could have seen yourself through my eyes today. You were...a force to be reckoned with. I thought we were done for once that guard got suspicious, but you saved us--like you always do. You were so calm, collected, and confident that honestly, I thought about blowing the whole operation and kissing you senseless right there.
"I could kiss you anytime, really. Any day of the week. Even when you just wake up, and you have those little crusty things by your eyes, I just want you all to myself. You know what? Especially then. I just love you so much. It grows more and more everyday and--"
"Do you talk like this about me every night?" you interrupted him to ask.
Han was silent for a few moments. He was probably embarrassed that you had caught him gushing about you. Eventually, he spoke, "How long have you been listening?"
"I never fell asleep, honey," you looked at him with a smirk.
Almost like it was second nature, Han kissed your forehead, but he looked a little distressed.
"Baby?" Your smirk still had not left your face.
"Yes?"
"You know I love you just as much, right? Even when you have the crusty things in your eyes in the morning."
And just like that, Han was back to normal, with a smirk of his own on his lips. “You love me just as much, huh? I find that hard to believe since my love for you spans the whole of the galaxy."
"Who says my love doesn't?"
*******

Jesus, I just got to the point in Words of Radiance where Kal is in prison and Dalinar basically says "You're not going to end racism by being radical and acting upset about it. You can't just expect us to treat you like an equal because you're not one. Play nice and maybe the racists will grow to respect you"
I.
Buddy what the fuck
In general I think I've found that I'm... Not as fond of Dalinar as I used to be. Don't get me wrong, he does some great things and he's constantly trying to improve and I appreciate that. Flawed characters make stories interesting and I think Brandon does a fantastic job of writing him. However, he is overly strict and judgemental (Still not forgiving him for hating on Adolin for trying to express himself a bit more through style in ROW; let my boy dress up a bit if he wants), he struggles to accept other ways of doing things (we could look to Adolin again, being "too friendly" with those he commands and Dalinar going "noooo they might respect you less if they think you see them as an equal individual"), and while he talks about how he wants to change how everything works, if someone tries to defy convention in a way he doesn't approve of he shuts them down. (Kaladin pointing out very fair issues with how dark eyes are punished severely and light eyes get away with everything only to be talked down at until he shut up and fell in line, for example.) He wants change and has power to bring it about but won't do anything too radical for it, I guess, and that frustrates me. He tends to support systems as long as they work for his own goals, even if they're still exploitative and deeply unjust, while also complaining that everyone else is being exploitative and unjust. I dislike that he acts like he's doing Kaladin such a favor by treating him as almost an equal. "I'm sticking my neck out by treating you like a human, act civil and don't try to speak too loudly about the injustices yet, you might make the others uncomfortable." Dalinar isn't like other light eyes, he's so quirky and different and sometimes acts a bit less classist and racist!!! Aren't we lucky!! Idk maybe I'm stating my point a bit too strongly but damn. He's giving "yeah I'm a stubborn old man but really I'm quite progressive, I don't even go out of my way to hate crime people"
Words of Radiance, while I enjoy it, is rather difficult to get through because it's just so many main characters who I generally appreciate being awful to/supporting or ignoring awful behavior towards Kaladin and if he reacts they're like ":0000 how dare he attack first" (I appreciate Zahel chewing out Adolin for antagonizing and then fighting Kal in shardplate because goddamn Adolin I love you but that sucked.)
I'm finding Elhokar a lot more unlikeable on this reread as well. He's meant to be unlikeable of course, so good job on that, but Jesus he can be the worst. Honestly standing beside my past thoughts that what Moash did wrong was not in turning on the system that oppresses him and all the dark eyes, but just that he knowingly hurt Kaladin and other people who cared about him repeatedly and severely to do so.
I'm on board with killing horrible leaders (especially if it seems the only way to remove them and stop them from causing harm: people shouldn't have to suffer and die as part of a leader's learning curve and character growth, and going "they're working on it" when people are actively suffering is garbage. I'm still sad at Elhokar's death but I'm not sad that he's no longer king) but I draw the line at abusing and killing one's friends and I am just hoping he comes to terms with what he has done wrong and improves in book five.
Anyways that was long and scattered I'm sorry lmao you should have heard my rant to my poor cousin, I was rambling for like half an hour.

NAEGIRI WEEK 2024: Day 1 - DISCOVERY
Makoto Naegi is the unlikely headmaster of a rebuilt Hope's Peak Academy, navigating its haunting past and uncovering hidden secrets alongside Kyoko Kirigiri, who confronts the emotional and physical scars left by their shared tragedies.
@naegiriweek
Full Story below the cut. You can also find the story on my WattPad and AO3.
In case it wasn't already obvious, Makoto Naegi was not your typical high school headmaster.
Several months after the Final Killing Game, Makoto and the Future Foundation decided to rebuild Hope's Peak Academy, with him becoming the principal and working alongside Kyoko. This was a decision that many had found...questionable...Especially considering almost every bad thing that had happened to Makoto, and by extension, the entire world, all originated from this prestigious, but ultimate twisted academy.
Any other person would have been more than happy to scrap the building, abolish the Ultimate system entirely, and maybe even build an entirely new academy to teach the next generation of youths, but Makoto's idea of Hope was much stronger than the average person. The symbolism of turning a school that had fallen into despair, and transforming it into a beacon of Hope once again was just too powerful to pass up, and thus the Future Foundation agreed to give Makoto this one opportunity.
But there were more reasons than just that. Hope's Peak still hid many secrets within its walls. Secrets that could potentially be exploited for evil. Makoto knew that if anyone was going to find these secrets, he was the best person for the job. And who better to help him uncover these secrets than Kyoko, who was well acquainted with the school herself?
With that being said, progress on the investigation was slow, and Makoto mostly handled it himself due to Kyoko's condition. She had almost died due to the NG poisoning during the killing game, but miraculously, she left the building alive, having been recovered by Mikan from a near-death state. However, the poisoning had still destroyed a large portion of her body inside, leaving her arms and hands horribly scarred. The doctors were able to fix the damage, but unfortunately, the burns were so severe that Kyoko had lost nearly all vision in her left eye, and needed a walking stick to help move around.
Makoto knew she would never be able to live a normal life, but he was glad she was able to survive. Even though it had been a month since the incident, she was still getting used to her new disabilities. Makoto offered to have the Future Foundation provide her with the best possible prosthetic arms and legs, but Kyoko refused, saying she wanted to overcome her struggles using her own strength.
Unsurprisingly.
Still, today was a bit different, as out of the blue, Makoto had asked Kyoko to come and visit him at the school. He hadn't been clear on the reasons why, just that it was important and involved her. Kyoko had agreed, and now the two were standing in the middle of the classroom together, looking around as Makoto spoke.
"So you're probably wondering why I asked you to come here?" he said.
His voice was almost teasing, as if he was enjoying being the one in the know while Kyoko didn't; a rare switch in their usual standing that he was very happy to take advantage of.
"You wanted to show me something," Kyoko answered, her eyes narrowing as she scanned the room, "That's the only reason I can think of for why you would invite me here."
"Correct," Makoto nodded, "so...you know how we've been looking around the school, and we keep finding these hidden rooms that each serve a different kind of purpose?"
"Yes," Kyoko nodded, "are you saying you found another one?"
"I am. But there's a reason why I called you here instead of anyone else who could help me check it out. I know you're supposed to be resting, but it felt right to invite you over. It was a bit hard getting you to come here without spoiling the surprise, though."
"That was an annoying effort, I'll admit," Kyoko smiled, "but you did a good job."
"Thanks," Makoto smiled, "So...you ready to see it?"
"Lead the way," Kyoko replied, gesturing forward.
Makoto gave a single nod, then proceeded to walk over to the wall where the hidden room was. With a quick tug on the right books, the door to the secret area opened up. The room was small, only big enough to fit one or two people inside, but it was still impressive. The walls were lined with monitors and a few keyboards, all of which were powered by an electrical box that was sitting in the corner of the room.
Kyoko also saw a few shelves with dusty paper files on them. At a glance, it was clear which one's Makoto had already read and which one's he had left be.
"What's all this then?" she asked.
"Well, I was hoping I could your opinion on that," Makoto told her, "but from what I can tell, this room was supposed to be some kind of secret study. A place where someone could hide and work on stuff away from everyone else."
"A spy room?"
"Possibly, or just a place to think."
"Junko's?"
"That's what I thought at first, but...Well, when I was looking around, I found a bunch of these files on the shelf," Makoto explained, "past investigations, secrets about the school, and even a few hidden journal entries that somebody left behind. All of them are signed with the same name..."
"Who's?" Kyoko tilted her head. Makoto swallowed, as if he was hesitating telling her, but did so anyway.
"The previous headmaster, who died prior to our Killing Game," Makoto told her, "Jin Kirigiri. I think this was his secret study."
Kyoko's eyes widened.
"My...father's?" she asked.
"I know how crazy it sounds," Makoto replied, "but this place has the same vibe that his office did, and the writing style in these documents matches up with what we knew about him. Plus, I can't think of a reason why anyone else would be hiding this place, not even Junko."
Kyoko felt a little bit of emotion rise up inside her, but quickly stomped it back down, keeping her expression calm.
In the eyes of many, and in the heart of Kyoko herself, she and Jin Kirigiri were related by blood, but nothing more. For most of her life, she believed that Jin left her when she was a little girl and that he used her mother's death as an excuse so that he could leave the house, never knowing him as a father because they never really spoke to each other much during their days together.
It was Kyoko's disturbingly twisted grandfather, Fuhito Kirigiri, a man she had spent her whole life looking up to before she found the truth of who he really was, who encouraged her to hate her father. In reality Jin left the family because Fuhito showed no care when Jin's wife died.
When Kyoko found out that her father died in the school at the hands of Junko and Mukuro, and found his skeleton, she didn't show any feelings towards his death. But Makoto, who was looking at the remains of her father instead, noticed that she didn't even look in the box.
Makoto somehow knew that somewhere in her heart she must have thought she was wrong and guilty about her father's death. But she never showed it. Not even now.
"That is certainly interesting," she commented, "I wonder why he didn't tell me about it, if this is his secret study."
"I don't know," Makoto said, "maybe he was just hiding it in case anyone tried to snoop around and found his investigation papers? I mean, it's not like you would have remembered it was here after Junko wiped our memories, so maybe he did tell you and you just don't remember?"
"Fair point..." Kyoko nodded, "So what's in here that you think is so important?"
"I think it'd be easier if you saw for yourself..." Makoto gestured towards some of the shelves, "just...be careful. The dust is thick in here."
Kyoko was honestly hesitant. Yes, as it turned out, Jin Kirigiri wasn't the poor, selfish man that Kyoko thought he was, but at the same time, she'd been avoiding places associated with him since their escape from the school. She didn't want to think about him, or about her past in general, because she didn't want to stir any painful feelings inside of her.
But still, Makoto had been nothing but kind to her, and he had taken time out of his day to find this secret study. He had even invited her specifically, despite knowing how she felt. Kyoko would have been lying if she said she wasn't at least a little curious, so with a deep breath, she walked over to the shelf, grabbed one of the folders, and flipped it open.
Makoto, for his part, lingered in the doorway, letting her read alone, but waiting nearby enough so that he could offer his support if she needed it.
"Is this..." she whispered, her voice trailing off as she began to read.
"Yeah," Makoto said, his own tone low, "it is."
On the inside of the folder, Kyoko saw a picture, a list, and some handwritten notes. The photo was of a young girl, around 10 years old...Unmistakably herself as a child.
Her style was a bit softer and less hardened than her current self, though still notably professional and reserved. She had long, silver-purple hair tied in a neat, straight ponytail, with her bangs framing her face and covering part of her forehead.
Kyoko wondered how her father got this picture of her. After all, this had been taken long after they'd been separated, so where did it come from?
"There's a letter," Makoto mentioned, "you can read it if you want, but I've already done that."
Kyoko knew that even though he said she could read it if she wanted, his tone suggested that he really wanted her to read it now. Maybe not out loud, but still while she had it so she wouldn't forego the chance to read it later.
She sighed and found the letter he was talking about, and her eyes began moving along the page, silently reading her father's words:
Dear Kyoko,
I hope this letter finds you, though I can only imagine what state you might be in, should it reach you at all. And I hope, despite everything, you will still find it in your heart to read it.
The world seems to have fractured at its seams, spiraling into something darker with each passing day. This tragedy...it is beyond anything I could have predicted, even in my worst fears. I can only wonder how you and your classmates are managing in the middle of it all. I do not know what kind of future is left for you, or for any of the young souls burdened by the chaos we failed to prevent.
I can only apologize, though I know it will never be enough. For not being there when you needed me, for all the unanswered questions I left you with. Believe me, leaving you was not a choice I made lightly. I told myself that my distance would protect you, that it was the only way to keep you safe from a fate darker than loneliness.
Seeing what you have become...an accomplished, highly intellectual detective, I believe that my father's teachings served you well, even if I disagreed with the notion myself. Yet now, I can't help but regret it. I can't help but wish that I had been stronger, had found another way. One that did not mean leaving you on your own.
But even in my absence, Kyoko, I have always cared. You must know that. I followed your progress from afar, watched you grow into someone more resilient and brilliant than I could ever have imagined. I see in you the strength I had hoped for, though I had no right to ask it of you.
Hold fast to that strength. The world may be coming undone, but I have faith that if anyone can navigate it, it is you. I say this not as your headmaster, but as your father, and whether you accept as much is not for me to force upon you.
With all my love and my deepest regrets,
-Jin.
Kyoko could feel her hand beginning to tremble as she reached the end of the letter, and she quickly placed the folder back down on the shelf. She took a deep breath, then turned back to face Makoto, who had patiently waited for her.
"It's a shame," she commented.
"What is?" Makoto asked, a little confused.
"This room," Kyoko explained, "all this space, and for what? To keep secrets, and hide things away. Such a waste..."
Makoto knew exactly what was going on, though. He knew her too well not to.
"We'll get the chance to make better use of it," he reassured her, "once everything's settled, I'll have a room cleared out. You can store all the important evidence you need in here, and nobody will be able to get to it. You can make it your own personal study, and we'll call it the Kyoko Kirigiri room!"
He flashed her a bright smile, hoping to cheer her up.
Kyoko stared at him blankly, but there was a twitch in her mouth, as if she wanted to smile back.
"We can discuss that later," she said, turning back to the shelf, "for now, I should check over the files and make sure we're not missing anything."
"Sure thing," Makoto agreed, "but...Kyoko?"
"Yes?"
"You know you don't have to be like this ALL the time, right?"
"Excuse me?"
Makoto sighed.
"I know you've been like this for as long as you can remember. You keep your emotions in check so that the people around you can't take advantage of them. It's the best defense mechanism you've got. But, the world's different now. We're rebuilding it. We've overcome the worst of our despair," he asserted, "You're among friends. I know this is gonna sound cheesy, but you're safe. There's no reason for you to have to keep putting on a mask all the time, not when we're here for you. You don't have to be so cool, calm and collected 24/7. If you want to cry, then cry."
Kyoko shook her head.
"I don't want to cry," she made this clear, "but...you're right in that I feel...emotional...about this..."
"There's...actually another thing in that file that you might want to see," Makoto mentioned, "it's a photo. I'm not sure who of, but I can take a guess."
Kyoko turned back to the files, and found the photo.
It was of her father, and another woman sitting next to him, back when he was much younger. She was sitting on Jin's lap, her head resting against his chest. A wide, contented smile was spread across her face, and Jin was grinning down at her, his arm wrapped protectively
She looked a lot like Kyoko. She shared her composed demeanor and elegant appearance, with some physical similarities. She had a refined, calm aura, and her hair was a muted shade, worn in a practical yet stylish way, possibly in a short, neat cut or a simple, low bun.
"I was thinking that might be your mother," Makoto mentioned.
"I agree," Kyoko nodded, and surprisingly, a smile broke across her face, "so that's what she looked like?"
"You didn't know?" Makoto asked.
"I never met her truly," Kyoko said, "she passed away when I was too young to remember her. I'm sure I'd have some semblance if I was allowed to visit her, but my grandfather forbade me. He wanted to prioritize my detective work."
Makoto clicked his tongue. Even though he knew that he had been an iconic figure in Kyoko's life, he couldn't hide his disdain.
"I know this isn't my place to say. I can't speak for either of you, after all," he said, "but Kyoko...Jin really did love you as his daughter. I'm certain of that now. Whether you agree or not is a matter for you, but you can't deny the proof."
Kyoko nodded.
"You're right," she said, "as far as my father's involvement, there's no denying the facts."
She put the file back on the shelf, then turned and looked at him.
"Thank you, Makoto," she said "For showing me this, I mean. I think you were right to. This isn't the kind of thing you can just ignore, no matter how hard you try. It's something that has to be faced."
"I agree," Makoto smiled back, "so it's no problem, really."
"And, also, I'm sorry. For putting you through this, for making you deal with my issues. You're trying so hard, and I appreciate that," she said, "I'm a bit embarrassed, honestly. I'm supposed to be helping you with your investigations, and instead you're doing all the work and having to worry about me on top of it. You'd think, with all my experience, I'd have a little more self-control..."
"Hey, it's fine," Makoto assured her, "it's okay to lose your composure once in a while. In fact, I like this side of you. Not to say that you're a dishonest person. I just want you to be more honest with yourself, just like you are with us."
"Honest with myself?" she frowned curiously.
"Yeah, when it comes to emotions, anyway," he elaborated, "We're friends, so we don't mind. Just...don't shut yourself out. Don't pretend you're okay when you're not, and don't pretend like you're not hurt when you are."
"I suppose I could work on that..." Kyoko said.
"Yes, you could," he chuckled, "just...if you need to let your emotions out, do it any way you please, and I'll help you with it."
Kyoko paused, considering his words for a moment.
Makoto was completely the polar opposite of her. He wore his heart on his sleeve, and never usually hid how he felt. Even when he tried, he was usually bad at it.
His kindness and compassion for others were evident in his every action, and that was one of the many reasons why everyone who had been affected by the tragedy adored him.
Maybe there was some wisdom in that. After all, Kyoko wasn't sure how much longer she could go on keeping her feelings to herself. And she trusted Makoto with her life. She had every reason to, after all.
"If that's...really how you feel..." she lowered her eyes for a minute, brushing some hair to the side with her hand, "could you...come closer?"
"Sure," Makoto nodded, carefully moving a little closer, "is there something else you need me to look at?"
"Not quite," Kyoko replied, "I was actually thinking that I'd like to return the favor..."
She carefully wrapped her arms around him in a hug. Makoto paused for a moment before he returned the gesture, as Kyoko rested her head on his shoulder.
True to her word, she didn't cry. But she did take a minute to bask in the feeling of having someone so close, a warmth she hadn't experienced in a long time.
"Thank you," she whispered.
Makoto didn't say anything back, but Kyoko didn't miss the small, comforting squeeze he gave her as they stood there, embracing each other in the secret study.
In that moment, Kyoko felt the urge to say something more.
Maybe the world wasn't ready, maybe she wasn't, or maybe it wasn't the right time. But even so, the words bubbled up inside her, and she wanted nothing more than to say them. She lifted her head, and stared into his eyes.
"Can I kiss you?" she asked.
"Sure," Makoto said again, without hesitation, knowing that this had been a long time coming.
The two moved their heads closer, and their lips met, as Kyoko's hand found its way to Makoto's hair. He pulled her closer, deepening the kiss, and she let out a soft sigh.
After a few minutes, the two reluctantly separated, and Makoto gave a small laugh.
"So...did you just kiss me because you were grateful?" he asked, his tone light and teasing, "or was there a little more to it than that?"
"You're smart," Kyoko smirked, "I'm sure you can figure it out."
"Well, maybe you could give me a clue?" he suggested.
Kyoko thought about it, and her answer came quickly.
"It's not something that needs a reason, is it?" she said, "If two people love each other, then there's no reason not to express it. That's my opinion, at least."
Makoto blushed.
"Love?" he said, his tone incredulous, "Is that how you feel?"
"I wouldn't ask otherwise," Kyoko shook her head, "you know me. I'm not the kind of person to ask something like that without meaning it. Unless the idea of your lips on mine is that revolting."
"Don't be stupid," he chuckled, pulling her in for some more.
Time passed, and eventually they broke away. Kyoko left the files where she had found them, took her cane, and they walked out of the study, locking pinkies.
"I'll definitely come back to that room later," she said, "I...think there's more I want to learn about my father."
"Me too," Makoto nodded, "just make sure you let me know next time. I'll come with you."
"You don't have to do that," Kyoko assured him.
"I know, but I want to," Makoto said, "for a few reasons of my own."
"And those are?" she asked, genuinely curious.
"Well, for one," he listed, "I also want to learn more about Jin. And even if I didn't, I want you to know that come hell or high water, I'll be there to support your or lend you an ear if you need it. That you can lean on me if you have to."
"A fair point," she said, "but also, I hope you don't feel like you have to watch over me or worry about me. I am an independent woman, after all. You don't have to treat me like a porcelain doll."
"Oh, I know," he nodded, "it's just that...well, it's nice to have someone watching your back."
"I agree," Kyoko nodded, "sorry for being difficult. Are there any other reasons?"
"Well," he leaned in, his tone and expression surprisingly low and flirtatious for him, nuzzling his cheek against hers, "I don't think anyone else knows about that study yet. So it's nice to know there's a place we can go without getting...interrupted..."
"Psh...You dog...!" she snapped teasingly, planting a kiss on his cheek.

Is Tomino an antisemite?
I assume you're referring to the section of PROJECT PROTOTYPE: Zeta Gundam Proposal that talks about Melanie Hue Carbine?
worth mentioning, this bit was also reprinted in the liner notes for the Zeta Memorial Box laserdisc release
to cut a long answer short and address the elephant in the room: the Carbine stuff, in those notes, is antisemitic. I also don't think that it necessarily reflects what Tomino currently believes, if he was even the one who wrote it, which is also unclear
the answer ends up being "there's not a clear answer one way or the other"
I'll elaborate a bit more on this below the courtesy break
for disclosure's sake, I could be misremembering some details here, but this is less of a "defence" and more of trying to sort out what's not included in that screencap which gets reposted every so often.
-
it's understandable that this comes up time and time again, given what a mess that writing is
the question of whether Tomino was antisemitic has been talked to death, which is why a lot of Gundam fans have just stopped entertaining it, but I still think it's worth clearing up periodically for people who haven't heard it talked about before, so it's not ground down into pop trivia
when you hear people talking about the Carbine lore in Zeta, it's usually presented as coming from a setting bible and being a direct quote from Tomino
that understanding comes from a long-running game of telephone that was probably significantly worsened by language barriers and 40 years of information rot
the infamous Carbine section not only has dubious authorship and canonicity, but was also written in the 80s in Japan (which was undergoing something of a Jewish conspiracy exploitation boom at the time) and first published in a fan-targeted magazine (not the setting bible, as it's usually presented) in a period of Gundam's history when there was a lot of outsourced filler lore being released to stopgap the inevitable decline of post-Zeta Gundam hype before the release of ZZ
that's not to say Tomino doesn't have a history of misstepping and saying incredibly strange (and sometimes reactionary) things, or even that this wasn't a concept in the original proposal for Zeta before it was heavily reworked. it wouldn't be that out of place, but it would still stick out
but, to be frank, Tomino is an 82 year old Japanese man who has been in the public eye for 60 out of those 82 years
even if we take it for granted that he was the one behind that off-screen lore, we then have to believe that he held those beliefs unchangingly for 40 years without (to my knowledge) repeating them, which is a bit of a stretch
there might be something especially damning that I haven't seen, but I feel like it would have emerged alongside the Carbine passage if that were the case

I made a huge mistake in going to the MHA subreddit. The braindead takes on 427 have me convinced I'm stuck in a parallel universe where we're reading a completely different story:
"It's great seeing Deku play therapist with the LOV, but all it seems to have done is make things worse!" A) Izuku shouldn't be having to play therapist to begin with, considering he's a 16 year old kid. B) most of the LOV don't see anything they did as wrong, so idk what the fuck Izuku can do about that. Also, WHY AREN'T PEOPLE HELPING IZUKU WITH HIS OWN GODDAMN FEELINGS?!
Apparently Bakugou killed Kurogiri, and there's absolutely ZERO reaction to it both in and out of universe. So of fucking course Izuku is a murderer, but not their precious Bakugou 🥱.
"I feel like Hori's really underrated as a writer!" Horikoshi doesn't know Show Don't Tell, how to actually develop characters, and how to craft actual stakes in the narrative from a hole in the ground. Also, MHA is one of the most popular mangas worldwide, so you're not even using underrated right.
"I feel like Horikoshi sees our discussions and then implements them in the story!" This I can kind of agree with, considering how much y'all hate Izuku and worship Bakugou. But on the other hand, I really doubt Horikoshi thinks the MHA subreddit is as important as you think it is.
"Bakugou's totally going to ask Izuku to start their own hero agency together at the end!" Jesus fucking Christ, just say you hate Izuku. How would that be a great ending for him? He not only has to see the source of his low self esteem and borderline suicidal feelings achieving the dream he'll now never have, but you want them to WORK together?!
@nutzgunray-lvt 👋
Well a lot of the time looking into Reddit is always a mistake unless you're asking a very niche question and you get an answer from 9 years ago or something.
I feel like a lot of people whether that be in universe or in fandom forget that izuku is a 16 year old child soldier. Izuku is more than a decade younger than a lot of the villains in the leauge. He is a child who has been exploited by the system and abused. We have seen in 425 izuku try and talk to someone but simply get brushed aside and while I don't blame shoto or ochako for doing that as they probably didn't mean it and are traumatised themselves it kinda of shows how much this has effected izuku. Also this doesn't help BECAUSE HORI GAVE US NO FLIPPING INTROPSECTION ON IZUKU'S BIT AGAIN!! Also Iam not sure if it's just me but Izuku's eye bags are heavily prominent in this chapter especially when he is talking to spinner.

The fandom especially the lov stans side of it love babayifying the actions of the leauge and hyper fixating on the humane soft side they may have while completely ignoring the horrible actions they commited. I talk about this better in one of @palesweetscherryblossom asks
I still can't believe that bk may of killed kurogiri. I don't even know when that happend and I checked the wiki but it says that kurogiris status is unconfirmed so I will be waiting until the last chapter to fully acknowledge if kurogiri is dead or not. However this brings up the point that the fandoms is being quite hypocritical if they're calling izuku a murder but not bakugo. They both killed people but for some reason it's izuku thats put into public light and bashing instead of all the other characters that have killed in the series including villains.
Yeah sometimes it feels like hori is looking at discussions of his series and implementing ideas but I think that goes more for his Japanese fans than us to be honest because after all they're his target demographic. I remember when I first joined Tumblr one of my earliest posts talked about how horikoshi's writing decisions were heavily influenced by his fans which may or may not be true.
At this point IAM convinced that izuku isn't getting a proper happy ending. Every time I think it can't get worse it does. Just by your comment of them starting an agency together haunts me just like the possibility that bk may become the number one hero

i tripped and fell down the regis and angouleme friendship staircase, which ended up being multiple flights.
this is a long post and total ramble of my ideas concerning their first meeting and interactions, around the (humorous) realization that regis never exactly told angouleme that he was a vampire (canonically at least, there was no scene for it).
because i feel like most people understand angouleme as a childish character, and she is, but that trait doesn't mean she'd necessarily be consumed by curiosity and amazement and fear and awe when encountering something supernatural-
because, she is a childish teenager, whose presence initially serves to antagonize the company and drive them to wit's end
... as well as, this is the witcher, we subvert expectations here!
so i actually imagine angouleme being uninterested and bored by this pivotal reveal - except she's not putting this up as a front, to be polite, like the rest of the company did... she's sincerely like "ok. ... can we move on now" . which flips the script and reverses the power dynamic instantly.
kind of like the whole thing like, 'fairies only exist if you believe in them' ... well ok, vampires will exist no matter what, but if you deny that they're cool and interesting, you hurt their feelings a little.
and i just think it is the perfect weapon of the teenage girl, which disarms the intellectual middle-aged man - dismissive, apathetic attitude!
plus, this is actually unintentionally exploiting regis' (not so-) secret weakness — “social approval”
these two days, he is (quietly…) critical of geralt’s decision to take her along with them, not very amused by her (she reminds him too much of stupid youth)… but … then she refuses to engage with any of the Dramatic Vampire Stuff and he gets the wind taken out of his sails
regis asserted himself to the company when he did that little skit by the ina, getting geralt to admit his weakness, then disappearing ominously…
but that kind of thing only works if it really does cause milva and cahir to draw back, and dandelion to “stifle a scream” when he smiles. (i guess what i’ve come to is that angouleme is the kind of girl who watches a horror movie like 😐 “that looks so fake”)
to put it more clearly though, regis doesn’t like scaring people… however, he loves winning arguments
and part of his whole argument, a core belief he holds, is that humans will always react in a certain way to a vampire, “for sociological reasons” “deeply lodged in the human pysche”, (and he finds this pretty funny) but angouleme just defeats his thesis without even trying.
this gives her (probably unwittingly) the upper hand, and takes regis from mentor and know-it-all to protegée himself... they soon can resolve and make a truce after this battle, but the outcome that i'm gunning for here is that regis (1) gets humbled and (2) begins to recognize angouleme as the fascinating specimen she is (preston holt to geralt: "you're a difficult specimen"),
which can make his adoption and celebration of her quirks just one chapter later make sense, from how he got to point A ("i'm not your uncle dear child") to point B ("oho, look at what the cat dragged in"). he embraced the sass between chapters so this is me trying to connect the dots.
i also think characters not getting along at first is a hallmark of sapkowski's mentorship-protege relationships, like geralt and ciri, especially yennefer and ciri, somewhat preston holt and geralt. and it makes sense, if they're both "strong personalities"
the conflict is funny enough for the time being, but later on i also think that it actually becomes one of their strengths in friendship, because of the quality of familiarity and mundaneness…
i mean, i think regis likes being marveled at a bit… (“regis took off as if blown away by the wind. geralt had no time to marvel” … ok, but what about the times when geralt did have time to marvel… 😇)
but it is good to exist in the company of someone for whom you are unremarkable (see: geralt and dandelion). it not only humbles you, but it’s an expression of genuine love and connection.
the flip side of this also, is that regis views angouleme with such dignity and respect which she gets actually nowhere else, not even from herself. because he believes her to be wise and smart and worth patience, and this isn’t sympathy or pity, but genuine respect…
but yeah. i think angouleme does have initial reactions to vampire abilities… like a scene (i didn't post it, hehe) i wrote where she witnesses him climbing out of the window and it gives her shivers—but then it’s immediately shot down by ridiculous slapstick of the wind messing with his cape… she has some sincere reactions, but is externally unimpressed, and whatever impressed feelings she once initially had soon fade into mundaneness as well - not in a bad way.
her being like “yeah whatever” is initially aggravating, but later can become so healing…
that’s also part of the humor in regis’ backstory, is that all the vampire things are treated so utterly mundanely, to “fly” from the “crypt” said like to drive from your flat… i think it is a part of how she understands him (somehow, bizarrely, no one expected this)
whereas the rest of the hanza still is a bit uncertain about regis’ abilities (by his own preference, i think), geralt saying he thinks he’s got a few more tricks up his sleeve, but he can’t tell…
yes, it’s preferred to maintain your secrets and air of mystery… what’s the fun in talking about everything… but…
regis also likes talking about everything…
especially as i throw him some new things to figure out and relearn. see, he can’t go to cahir, milva, or dandelion (if he’s around) with this “hey guys look, i remembered how to walk through walls”, they would be like “😀 that’s great regis (🫣😱 wtf wtf wtf),”
and although geralt would likely be impressed (moreso than his mild reaction lets on), it’s not good form to tell the witcher all your tricks. even if you are friends. even if it’s just for the joy of pulling this out one day unexpectedly, and him remarking, “what was that?!” … “well, you see, there many things you haven’t anticipated from me 😏 “
as opposed to these friends. random girl whose only reaction is gonna be like “huh. that was kinda sick. can you do it walking backwards” — PERFECT person to talk to here. (btw his response: “i hadn’t even thought of that…!”)
and there is an undeniable youthfulness to this too, which is also, again, utterly healing. young vampires often explore their abilities in stupid ways like this, daring each other to do stunts. and as regis re-learns (re-teaches himself?) some of these things, i couldnt think of a better friend than the one who says “now do it blindfolded”
like, it is not that he is shielded around the rest of the hanza either, at all.. remember, he smiles with his fangs to the whole company in september… regis is comfortable in the company to be who he is, and act however is natural to him… but i feel like there is also a reason to fit in and be human in most regards, anyways, it’s a comfort zone that exists between them. he tries to not freak them out too much ;P but if you’re not gonna get freaked out by anything, then do anything
and the counter, uno reverse card—regis finding the extraordinary in angouleme
one of my favorites of the interactions i have imagined for them has got to be (early on in their friendship… at this point i wouldnt even call it friendship though… more like co-existing) regis commenting on something she said that he genuinely found thought-provoking, or interesting, or just smart… but her mistaking it as him making fun of her, so she treats him contemptuously… she doesn’t believe him, because no one’s ever suggested to her that her thoughts are worth thinking before
canon: angouleme doesn’t seek the approval of others ever counter-canon: because no one has ever approved of her imagined: so what would happen if someone did approve of her explosions
i like how geralt gained her entire loyalty to the lengths of “i would fight for you and die for you” because he saved her life, but she didn’t even care if these people even liked her or not, just like, well ok, i’m on your side now, them’s the rules, all’s fair in love and (gang) war
like can you imagine if someone paid her a genuine compliment
because the point of angouleme’s character is that she’s the antithesis of ciri being the special chosen one girl who the company is willing to sacrifice for (wellll by proxy. they are willing to sacririce for geralt, thus her). but angouleme is like some random girl who sapkowski didnt even plan to keep around (hence why i call her “child of coincidence,” opposed to ciri’s of “child of destiny” lol).
angouleme (in theory) could be replaced with any girl and the outcomes would be similar. there is nothing magic or destined about her, and after the war left her an orphan, no witcher found her in the warzone. angouleme, like the rats, represents “all the rest”. or as sapkowski said, “the 90% who die stupidly” (spoilers)
but regis, as a surgeon and healer, isn’t his entire thing to immensely value and save that 90% … the “regular people”. which he wants to do, because it’s regular people he’s harmed, and it’s regular people which he himself is not, after all
and it is also regular people which he finds fascinating for this reason of not belonging to them, the regular human psyche. so, IMO, there is a case for him to find the extraordinary in the very ordinary. to him, it’s extraordinary

Soul Eater has always been a bizarre case. on one end of the spectrum there's characters like Kilik Rung, Mira Nygus, and even major manga antagonist Noah. on the other end there's the infamous bg jazz band that are straight up minstrels (they look identical in the manga. this was not studio bones' artistic liberty) and the death scythe repping Africa named Dengu Dinga who wears a mashup of "african flavoured" clothing. and then there's Sid, obviously i can't pass judgement on what's good or bad design rep but there certainly was a scene where Maka literally calls him a "mean blue gorilla"..
sorry for rambling, but Ohkubo absolutely takes inspiration from graffiti art and hip hop aesthetics in his work which makes the antiblackness even more disrespectful
Feel free to ignore that ask if the topic is bogging you down btw, I didn't see your last post if you're done engaging with the topic for now feel free to delete it. Looking forward to what you do with strawberry moon <3
Oh dude you're good. I just needed a nap before I answered more lol. I'll try and answer as many of these as I can because I'm honestly enjoying the discussion even though I have to step away from it for a bit. It's triggering to me but not in a way that I can't talk about it, just bogs down my mind ya know?
Anyway, I've never watched Soul Eater so I had no idea of the Black characters in the show! I had to look them up and I see what you're saying. Mira is a stereotype because I'd consider her a sexualized Black woman in this context. Kilik is like 100% fine to me at a glance, like he just looks like a Black guy though there may be some writing I'm missing that still makes him a stereotype.
I had no idea that he was influenced by graffiti art but I TOTALLY see it now in his shape language. Sid is by far the worst since he still has the big white teeth and a more 'gangster' aesthetic. Especially considering the time period Soul Eater was released, it's in poor taste at best and still perpetuating Black stereotypes at worse.
Anime is it's own sub-genre of racism in animation. White people LOOOOOVE to say "oh it's a different culture and they don't know" LMAO YES THEY DO DON'T PLAY stop infantilizing Asians you fucking sickos.
Colorism alone is such an issue in Asian countries. I've lived with people from China, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, and the Philippines. I've heard first hand accounts of people from the Philippines being treated like lesser human beings just for having a slightly darker skin-tone and don't get me started on how Chinese imperialism has impacted Taiwanese people. I'm not going to speak for disenfranchised Asian people but it's easy to find if you look it up. But my point is if colorism is that prevalent, imagine how much worse it is when your entire culture has a history of being exploited to the point that blackface is a worldwide issue.
Also the Boondocks exists and though not a perfect example, it still has some of the best depictions of Black people in an anime style. There's no excuse to draw racist stereotypes when there's literally 5 seasons worth of overall solid Black character designs that can be referenced for other series.
