Hasn’t that always been the case?

Ballister is no stranger to living life on the edge. Even before their death, all it took was one accident, one mistake to tank the savings his parents spent months building up. Their community was not much better either. Funds saved up to improve infrastructure, the community center, the mosque could disappear without any warning. 

And then one accident, one accident was all it took to take his parents and then his home.

And still, he dreamed, dreamed of standing at the side of the Kingdom as a hero of the realm.

Even when the queen inducted him as a squire, he could never find better footing. He knew; one mistake, that’s all he needed if he wanted to be put back in the streets. And yet that dream, his dream never strayed far. Stayed so close to him every time he reached for it, he could feel it, like silk, between his fingers before it to slipped away.

He thought being with Ambrosius would have been like that too. At first, it was a pipe dream- being friends with the descendent of Gloreth, herself? Impossible. Ambrosius falling in love with him? Gloreth’s descendent wouldn't do that. Dating and building a life with Ambrosius? A life that both Ambrosius and the Kingdom would approve of?

Only a fool would dream to do so.

And yet.

And yet, it had all been in Ballister’s hand, once upon a time. So close, sometimes Ballister’s phantom arm twitches at the thought of it. Silk, golden white like Ambrosius’ hair resting between his fingers. Sometimes Ballister doesn’t dare to move his arm in those moments because what if it still was all possible? Maybe if he’s careful enough, this time, it won’t slip away-

He’s only deluding himself. The world isn’t meant to be draped in sheets of white silk and Ballister doesn’t believe it’s all gray or varying shades of black either. It doesn’t have to be- Nimona taught him that- that splash of PINK on an otherwise pristine canvas.

Why should he have to keep chasing a future, a dream that keeps running away when he catches up?

He won’t do it anymore. He can’t, even if it’s Ambrosius who beckons him to come back. He won't trade a clad of black armor sprinkled with specks of pink for the pristine white and gold banner one he longed to wave once upon a time.

The day Ballister left the Kingdom, three years ago, he set aside that dream. Broke it in two alongside the life he once shared with Ambrosius. No more. No more.

( Even if he cried, staring at the remains of them. What they were. What they would have been. )

Now there’s only them, surrounded by the ruckus. And Nimona, in the back, picking off Ambrosius’ backup with generous strokes of her claws.

“Don’t say that, Ambrosius. You- you of all people don’t get to say that to me,” Ballister says, finally. The sword held by his mechanical arm feels heavy as he points it at his beloved enemy. “Don’t make this any harder than it has to be.”

So MAYBE, nexus can spice things up A LOT? I'd like that! I'd like it for to be like one of those apocalypse aus!! Nexus already seems to be wanting to make moves, such as killing dazzle- OH BOY

Actually interested to see that because I'm curious how he'd act with dazzle- he's never interacted with her

And I'm curious if dazzle will actually end up dead-.. even if she did, she CAN very much be revived, she's a soul. The only damage nexus can do is destroy her animatronic body atleast I think

"THE HOME INVADER? WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN????"

It took me a bit longer than I thought because I was struggling with bugs (like being able to progress when you shouldn't, etc) and recording (im lowkey a perfectionist when it comes to doing things in order sometimes).

But now it's out! This was actually my first game, originally made in VX Ace (in 2021) before I learned to use RPG2000 and remade it. (the original is ugly af)

The plot is kinda similar to Mikoto Nikki, but this goes a little more into the psychological and snooping aspect; you're going through the man's trash and stuff-

also took a bit of insp from the random yan game 'don't notice me' that kubz scouts played a while ago (omg the memories); say what you want about that game, but i kinda liked it XD

I named the game based on the plot, but lowkey also in condolences to the failed yandere sim game (rip love letter mtf); since we didn't get that game I made this instead (even tho they aren't even remotely similar XD)

mia's og design was similar to bow-chan's lmao but honestly i like the coquette pinkish design more, its more fitting!

so yeah; i finally finished and now i can continue on!!

there's definitely at least three more charon-esque games i would like to make (i have like a whole list that i might post but certainly i want to have a 'dark side' game, another love triangle one, and then a three person one like mix ore)

let's start with my babygirl, shall we? this entire thing started with her, so might as well 😌

as everybody knows, everiu's a handmaiden, guardian to the princess, caroline's most trusted friend and confidant, but what most people DON'T know is that protection has been hammered into her brain ever since one assassination attempt almost left her without her best friend (caroline).

she was around 7 at the time, a year older than caroline, accompanying the princess in a neighboring kingdom's party, when a group of armed and jealous low-ranking aristocrats cornered the pair in an emoty hallway.

had it not been for her parents stepping in, part of the Royal Guard as they were, they would have been held for ransom or worse.

for her eighth birthday, everiu asked for a sword.

by her 10th birthday, she had mastered it.

somehow, she found her stance drills calming ^v^

as for her deal with organization, it's always been part of her personality, seeing things disorganized IRKED her to no end 😌

her deal with horses stemmed from games with her father, who used to carry her around by her arms as if she were riding a horse, also she found them really cool and a great source of fun :DD

embroidery started when she had to take classes about them with caroline, and she got HOOKED. the princess, though? not so much XD

@pangur-and-grim DDDD': I cannot roast the boy! He is a precious baby sweetie and I'll start by saying healthy, happy, and the cat you needed are always the most important things you should be looking for.

I scoured your blog for photos to judge because I have been hungrily shoveling all your updates into my face but I'm not in a position I can make demonstratives or draw arrows on his photos or anything, so sorry! I shall try to be descriptive and use pictures of my own cats as demonstratives.

HEAD: The ideal shape of a Devon's head should fit neatly onto an equilateral triangle drawn from eartip to eartip to chin, with ears set more toward the sides of the head and a nice wide "landing strip" between them. Belphie looks a bit like my very first devon, Jasmine, who had more upright ears than the breed standard aims for. His ears are nice and big though and they should stay that way, which is good!

Jasmine on her 17th birthday; probably a decent approximation of Belphie's adult head shape (note: Devons either age gracefully like queens or slowly morph into Gollum and there is no in-between, embrace the madness with them).

My parents' cat Jubilee is a good example of the ideal head. She was a retired show queen we were beyond lucky to provide a forever home for once her mothering days were done. MUZZLE: An important but hard to explain feature is the Devon Rex's "nose stop", the angled portion of the nose bridge. Where Pangur and many breeds like hers have long convex noses without stops and Persians are bred to have almost no nose bridge with a very severe stop, the Devon nose stop should be well-defined and ideally form a right angle from the brow ridge to the muzzle. The chin should be just about flush with the upper jaw. Belphie's got a bit of a weak nose stop and an overbite/weak chin that makes his nose look a little bit long for the standard. The nose stop is one of the most difficult features to get right, so this is a pretty common fault (Jasmine also had a weak nose stop). You'll see Devons with too sharp of a stop sometimes as well, which taken too far starts straying into brachy breathing problem territory. If I had to pick an incorrect muzzle, I'd go for the weak nose stop over a severe one every time!

On the left is my girl Ripley when she was a little under a year old, and on the right is my old boy Vitas (he'll be 14 next Saturday!) when he was about 3. Both of them have a decent stop just shy of that desired 90 degree angle; Ripley's jaw set is correct, while Vitas has a heckin puny chin under a proper-length muzzle. Belphie's chin is somewhere between theirs but his nose stop is quite shallow.

BODY: Cats of course come in one of 3 basic shapes- square, round, and triangular. Pangur is triangular and so are Siamese, Cornish Rexes, etc. Cats like the British Shorthair and Persian are round. Devons are very much in the square category and Belphie fits that to a T. Good straight back, skull is boxy when viewed from the side, good square hips, and his forelegs seem to be properly straight and under him. Bulldoggish elbows that stick out from the body can turn into arthritis in senior or overweight cats. Devons are not large, with females often ranging from 6-9lbs and males ranging from 8-11lbs. My mom's cat Lacey is tiny and is a super-fit 5.5lbs. Jasmine was a healthy weight around 9-10lbs and Vi is right around 11 at his current age. Ripley weighs 6.5-7lbs. COAT: That magical mystery box element that takes 1-2 years to grow in! There is no actual standard length for the breed and I've seen a couple of medium-haired cats, but most Devons are short-haired. A breeding queen will often have a much shorter coat than the same queen will grow after she has been spayed. Curls can be wavy or poodly, as long as there is curl. Texture can be cottony/fleecy or silky. Because they are missing a coat of fur, certain areas will nearly always be bald or sparsely furred, such as the top of the head, the neck, and the underbelly. Judges aren't supposed to deduct points from a kitten for having a sparse coat since most Devons molt at about 3 months, but they will definitely favor a kitten WITH hair over one without (>.>). They also aren't supposed to fault an adult for a sparse belly and neck, but they will still favor a cat with better coverage (again, >.>). The whiskers are also affected by the gene that causes the curl, so they are often brittle and prone to curling and breaking. Whiskers that curl up near the eyes should be trimmed short just for health reasons. You probably won't know exactly how Belphie's coat will look until he's around 2 years old, but here's Ripley at 5 months vs Ripley at 2 years old.

You can see her belly is still naked at 2. At 7 years, I can assure you it is still naked. Jasmine and Vitas have much closer to full body coverage.

I hope this was informative and I love Belphie, especially all his many faces and all the wonderful art! Belphie content is holding me over until I bring my own new kitten Fable home in the fall.

So a few revelations on Clay in this episode.

He might have some magic in him. Possibly from a family member.

Wait what if his family member was on the Wizard's Counsil? And that's how Clay knew Ruina and why Merlok had to wipe his memory? That's possible. Right?

But who? We've really only met Merlok, Ruina, and Monstrux. None of the others have really been mentioned. Hm... Putting that in a box on the side for right now. I'll come back to that later.

And then the mostly hidden character: Someone like Clay. An orphan? A knight? (They looked young, so possibly in training still.) Maybe we saw them with the class that came on the field trip.

I was thinking they were his sibling, but would they do that? Idk. I'm just starting to poke at that idea.

Well, with both of these, we'll find out eventually.

A tiring day of school rewinded in your head, the memories of this day was tiring but empty at the same time. Ace and Deuce.. they were definitely annoying but you couldn't deny that you liked them. Possible more than a simple 'like'.

You entered you room, Grim being away for a while.

A navy blue velvet box tied with a white lace ribbon and a small bow sat atop your desk. You open to see a stuffed plushie with the colors assigned to your liking, you see that there's a note beside it.

"Hey [name]!! so me and deuce wanted to give you this bear for Good Afternoon [name], me and Ace wanted to give you this plush as a small token of appreciation. Thank you."

The change of handwriting and vibe was quite funny to you, even in letter these two still found a way to bicker.

You look down to the letter.

"From Ace & Deuce.

^ deuce has a stick up his ass he wanted to give this to you not me - ace

^ [name] THIS IS A LIE HE WAS VERY SHY ABOUT THIS AND HAD THE IDEA FIRST. - d

You giggled at it, but you moved the piece of paper aside. The box had a really adorable plush of your favorite color, and it had some highlights and tints of red and blue.

You wondered where they got this, was it custome made from a manufacturer or did they actually make it? You ponder this question a while still observing the plush. It was extremely soft and smooth, the face was adorable, then you see a small embroidered message which said:

"We hope you enjoy this! Specially made."

No further explanation, but all your thoughts on how this was made all go away when you see a small heart patched up with the your favorite color, red, and blue.

You just loved them so so much.

saw that you saw Hamilton for the first time and couldn't help but wonder what your favorite song/s were? or maybe some songs that you would like to learn all the lyrics to?

:DDDD They toured here, and I got to see them live last, last Friday!! It was wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course all the songs are great. Right now (subject to daily changes), my faves in order, and I'll link to yt in case you want to listen, too, right now haha:

"Dear Theodosia" - The way they are singing to their babies!!! AHHHHHHHHH. I could die. It's SO soft. and SO heartwarming. omg. I just. love love love this. the line: "You will come of age with our young nation." and "If we lay a strong enough foundation, we'll pass it on to you. We'll give the world to you, and you'll blow us all away." Seriously, is there anything more important than this 😭😭 And finding out that the original actor for Aaron Burr was praying for his yet unborn daughter when it wasn't his part to sing, and that by the end of the run, he had prayed around 500 times for her ugh 💓

"The Story of Tonight (Reprise)" - idk, no real explanation, it's just a funny, touching song. The line: "Raise a glass to freedom, something you will never see again." and John Lauren's "What are you trying to hide, Burr?" is so funny. Also, Alexander Hamilton's "Oh, shit" when he finds out that Aaron Burr is having an affair with a married woman. Just a feel-good song. Out of context, I now see that those lines don't sound funny or feel good.

"Guns and Ships" - My favorite character is the Marquis de Lafayette. I was so enthralled by the actor's charisma, I read the entire Wikipedia article on Lafayette and have been info-dumping this guy's whole life story on anyone who is a captive audience for me. Which has happened 4 times already. Did you know he was only 18-19 years old when he snuck away to America against King Louis XVI's orders because he was so sympathetic to the American cause and hungry for war glory? Did you know he was a war hero by the time he was 24? Did you know this? And Hamilton was like about the same age as him. Also did you know Lafayette picked up English fluently within a year of his travel to America? Shall I keep going? I can tell you more!

"It's Quiet Uptown" - This song gives me really emotions, I cry.

"Satisfied" - "From your sister who's always by your side." Anyone else has a loving eldest sister who's the wittiest, funniest, smartest, most charismatic in the family? 🙋🏻‍♀️ Honestly, Angelica Schuyler does NO wrong, and I am convinced based on the info in this musical that she did nothing wrong her entire life haha. Facts. Did you know she and her husband organized to help Lafayette escape from Austrian prison? (Which succeeded, except Lafayette got lost and recaptured).

"Helpless" - This song was my top fave after watching the musical. The actress sings so well. I love how absolutely gone she is in love with him, and that's basically how I aspire to write my NaruHina fics haha. This line: "I'm trying not to cry cuz there's nothing that your mind can't do." Just, the absolute faith she has in him!!! The admiration she has for his intelligence and the belief she has in his worth and capability!!! I love it.

"A Winter's Ball" - This song is very short. It also does the best job at showing that these guys were like. 19-20 years old. College age bros forreal.

"What'd I Miss" - Undeniably Thomas Jefferson has the most charisma of any character in the musical. I love the jazziness of this song, too.

"Non-Stop" - whoever said that this song is the entire musical crammed in 6 minutes is so right.

"Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story" - Since this idea is basically the theme/lesson of the musical, it left an impact on me at the live show. Also, yeah, I'm a sucker for recording generational history and making sure that the sacrifices of the past aren't forgotten.

"Cabinet Battle #1" - This rap song convinces me I would've learned better in AP Gov if this musical had been around 13 years ago.

"The Election of 1800" - Hamilton's drag of Aaron Burr is such a burn. Ouch.

"Cabinet Battle #2" - These lines: "We signed a treaty with a king whose head is now in a basket. Would you like to take it out and ask it? 'Should we honor our treaty, King Louis’ head?' 'Uh… do whatever you want, I’m super dead.'" lol, point made.

Marcanne Week 2021, Day 1: Rain!

Marcy had a bad day.

She was quiet, any words left her mouth today. Anne for the whole day watched how her fingers were fidgeting with her hoodie’s ropes and eyes nervously twitching, in the breaks from zoning out. If she didn't know her, she probably would've thought she’s just shy or something is bothering her. But she knew Marcy for so long and when Sasha joined them, her life actually started since then. Anne knew that something was wrong, even if Marcy didn’t. 

So when Marcy runs out from their last lesson, she doesn’t even think and runs after her. First thing that she senses is that the hallways are so loud. There are more lights than usual, as the outside sky is covered by dark clouds. She can just imagine how loud and bright it must be for Marcy, because she’s having a meltdown for sure, and she feels anger on herself, that she didn’t manage this somehow. It passes, when she reminds herself there’s no time for this now.

She wishes that Sasha could be here. Unfortunately, she’s in detention, why are there so many people here?, so she must handle it by herself. No doubt that finding Marcy and calming her down would be easier with her. 

Anne takes a breath. It’s okay, she can do it. It’s not the first time. She’ll find Marcy and take her home. 

Marcy is gone from her eyesight, but she already knows where she went. She heads to an old, not used janitor’s closet. She remembers how one day Sasha found it (and threatened every single kid who wanted to enter here), saying with a grin on her face that Marcy has her own little corner now. Anne wasn’t proud of her method, but as time passed by, it seemed to work. It’s not important now, she thinks, opening the closet's door, but not too much, knowing that Marcy can’t stand any light now.

“Marcy?”, she asks, “Do you want me to be here?”

She hears a little sob, meaning yes. She closes the door, and slowly approaches Marcy, who is sitting on the floor, curled up, with a hoodie on her head and hands on her ears. She sits down next to her, but doesn’t touch her, as she sees Marcy swinging herself, which means she needs a while for herself.

So Anne patiently waits in the darkness. 

Time passes by. It’s maybe minutes, maybe hours, when she finally feels Marcy’s head leaning on her shoulder. She doesn’t cry so much as earlier, although she sniffles.

“Do you want a hug?”, Anne asks. Marcy nods and she hugs her gently, allowing to hide her face in her neck. It’s warm. Anne can feel tears that stay on her cheeks. She strokes her hair gently.

They are like this for a while, saying nothing. Usually Anne cannot stand the quiet, but she finds it nice this time. Maybe because quiet for Marcy is safe now – and when Marcy is safe, she also is. 

“Is someone in the hallways?” Marcy looks in Anne’s eyes.

“Break is over, I don’t think so. Do you want to go home? We can stay, it's not a problem.”

Marcy doesn’t say anything for a while, like she’s calculating if she can do it.

“Yes. Let’s go home.” She slowly gets up, so Anne does. 

“I can call my mom to pick us up, if you want”, she offers. Her mom always was understanding of Marcy’s meltdowns and never guilted her for this. Marcy’s parents, instead, were… a bit worse. Nothing strange that Marcy usually felt better about going to Anne’s home after a tough day. There always was a place for her.

“I want to go outside and see how I’m feeling.” Marcy states. Anne nods and puts her backpack on the back. She takes Marcy’s backpack in one hand and holds her with the second.

“Shall we?” She smiles gently and both of them leave the closet.

Hallways are empty now. Because of the absence of students, lights were turned off a bit. They slowly were traversing hallways, until the school entrance. Anne sees the raindrops running down on the glass.

“Oh, it’s raining. No thunder, though. Wait a second, I have an umbrella somewhere.” She puts their backpacks on the ground and starts to seek her umbrella, while she and Marcy are standing under the roof. Why does she have so much stuff in her backpack? “Gotcha”, she says with a victorious smile, but Marcy is not under the roof. “Marcy?”

Marcy is standing in the rain. Her gray hoodie is darkened by raindrops. Anne takes their backpacks and approaches her with an umbrella.

“Marcy, you’re going to be wet”, she says gently, standing behind her.

“It’s warm.”

“What?”

“It’s warm.” Marcy turns back. The raindrops are shining in her hair and water is running down her face, but she doesn’t seem to be upset about it. Actually, she’s fascinated. Anne remembers how she told her that she enjoys warm rain. Cold rains are awful, but warm ones are her favourite, making her comfortable, like there is nothing else except her and feeling warm water on her skin. 

Anne holds out her hand in the rain. Indeed, it’s warm.

“You’re right”, she says, smiling a bit. Marcy smiles back, for the first time today, and spins around in the rain. She laughs.

“Come on!”, she says to her. Anne just lays an umbrella on the ground, hiding their backpacks under it and joins her. 

She catches Marcy’s hands and dances with her to rain, like it was music. It’s stupidly adorable and innocent, even it may be weird, seeing two thirteen years old girls spinning around in the rain, and giggling, like they were little kids again. Their shoes are coming into puddles, hairs are becoming curly and shirts are getting heavy from water in them. But Marcy doesn’t care, Anne doesn’t care. 

If not her mother’s phone call, they probably would dance, until the sun wouldn’t show up from the clouds. It is time to go home, but it’s not a problem, as Anne sees that the smile on Marcy’s face stays and doesn’t go away. They don’t use an umbrella, though, because rain is still nice to feel on their clasped hands. 

Anne’s mom scolds them after, saying they are going to be sick and commands them to change, while she’s preparing a warm meal and hot tea. Later Anne’s dad comes in to tell them his funny stories, and, when they eventually lie on the bed, and rain taps in the window, it really feels home and it could last forever. 

For a moment, before Anne screams when her mind finally knows what happened, she thinks that blood from Marcy’s body falling on the ground reminds her about rain from that day.
