after a chaotic week… i have returned.

the return of jealous chaeryeong but from her pov!! i wasn’t expecting that twist but words can’t describe how giddy it made me because i knew yeji would be in trouble somehow. i couldn’t help but imagine ryeong as blonde again in this entry, so now my personal dlc headcanon is that ryeong’s hair somehow turns blonde when she’s jealous…

it was such a treat reading the jealousy from ryeong’s perspective. the way i interpreted her internal conflict is that her telling herself that she’s possessive is a way to hide in her insecurities. we know from the last jealous!ryeong entry that yeji really does only have eyes for her (& ryujin) and does her best to affirm that, and chaeryeong wants to believe it but her own thoughts hold her back. it probably doesn’t help that her nor ryujin’s scent stays on yeji, so she can’t even subtly claim yeji as hers.

“Out of everyone Yeji could be with, she’s here with her” - this part really stood out to me because even after all this time, and despite yeji referring to her as her girl before this, ryeong still feels this way :(

then there’s yeji with the push and pull, riling and teasing ryeong, almost encouraging her to be possessive when they need to be professional. i sort of saw this as yeji’s trying to get chaeryeong to be more verbal about how she feels. whenever yeji asked for her thoughts on her outfit, ryeong never gave a direct answer, somehow deflecting to another question or just being stubborn., even though yeji always answered ryeong’s questions when she was punishing her (btw i hope collared yeji returns…)

again, i have so many thoughts but i will stop my rambling because i’m feeling like that charlie office meme with the map and string 🫠 thank you so much for another amazing installment so soon after “dazed and senseless”! i’m looking forward to dlc chaerji’s date but please take your time! hopefully chaerji’s 2sday date gave some inspiration :) // 🦇

i'm glad i got the 'oh shit yeji's gonna be in trouble~" vibe across hahah. oh i love the hc of ryeong going blonde every time she's jealous, it's got a semi kitsune energy to it and i love that.

i think parts of jealousy are rooted in insecurities, we know that ryeong is possessive over ryeji, and we've seen that a few times on the chaerji side (a little less on ryury's side, but in a sense, ryury have a stronger foundation than chaerji, that's why we see these moments of ryeong being jealous and very intent of marking her territory.) but we're close to a real chaerji sit down and talk/affirm their feelings soon!!

i interpreted that line as more of a "yeji's hot, she has a ton of options if she truly wanted those, but she chose chaeryeong and ryujin", chose to get entangled into an unconventional relationship and follow through with it instead of taking an easier/more traditional way out. (but! it could be read that way too, again we'll see how ryeong deals with that realisation that yeji is in it for the long haul soon)

yeji knows how to tease, she's might be ..whipped for ryeong but riling her up, pushing her buttons just enough to get her way is part of the foreplay LOL. it would have been a different entry if ryeong had stepped in and staked her claim then and there.

ryeong not answering yeji directly was partly because... what does one even say to toxic yeji's fit, but honestly, chaeryeong hasn't been the best at confronting her feelings and thoughts, she demands complete and total honesty even to the point of submission, but we're still not clear whether that's just from play or from something more internal she's yet to work through. (collared yeji will return.. perhaps in a different context ;)

it is my pleasure, i absolutely love hearing your thoughts, it really helps me see if things came across how i envisioned them, perhaps what needs to be clearer and what should be left to reader interpretation! plus it makes me so happy to see you as invested into dlc as i am. Nobody can answer my question of what manner of black magic was stopping them from borrowing little Jimmy's Genesis for an afternoon. Mostly because there was none.

Ben Hurst stated multiple times that he had never touched a Sonic game and had no intentions of doing so.

The team's neglect of the games continuity becomes especially egregious knowing that Sonic 1 and 2 sold like gangbusters at the time.

Not sure why folks act like Sonic was some obscure untranslated region-locked arcade game that the hapless SatAM team were saddled with adapting instead of, you know, a game franchise that rocketed to stardom so quickly that it sparked a console war:

Sonic 1 came bundled with the Genesis, and 2 was so highly anticipated that its release date was dubbed "Sonic 2sday." There is a non-zero chance the SatAM team had kids, or knew kids, who played these games. They could have made an effort like the guys behind Captain N made an effort: an imperfect effort mitigated by the limited resources on hand at the time, but an effort nonetheless.

It's 2sday! I still don't have any idea how Tumblr works when in fact, I used to have an account before where I write all of my thoughts about certain things that either made me happy or frustrated. The reason why I created a new one is because I feel like I needed a way to vent out the thoughts and emotions that I have been bottling inside for years. I just wanted a way to escape. Turning 22 was pretty hard for me and made me realize a lot of things about my life. I always try to convince myself that I am surrounded by people that I call as "friends" who would be there for me at all times. I belong to a lot of groups. People that I hang out every free time. People that I just randomly message when I have questions that myself cannot answer but I have no one that would call me in the middle of the night. I have no one that treats me special. At first, the solitude was peaceful but now it's become insufferable. The isolation I once enjoyed is now suffocating to me.

Sometimes, I think I am the problem. Every time I feel left out, I slowly distance myself from people because I just don't like the feeling of surrounding myself and calling people as my friends who don't even make me feel comfortable always. It's not their responsibility to rebuild the closeness and friendship we used to have. I am sick of being alone all the time. I also get tired of giving updates about my life to people who don't even care. I was never someone's first choice but instead, they only choose me when there's no one better available. I crave companionship. I want people to appreciate me because of being me not only because they feel like I needed some encouragement to make me feel better.

Does your OC usually make the plans or leave the planning to others?

Tuesday will 100% make the plans- he actually kind of expects to, because Chuu simply won't and Keathan has pretty severe memory problems, so Tuesday making the plans and keeping the Itinerary is just for the best in near all situations. He gets a little fidgety if he doesn't know the plans or the schedules and somebody else does and he's just not allowed to know it for whatever reason. Please, just give him the schedule.

Tangy when left to her own devices will plan a party, but it's usually better if someone else helps with the finer details like how much catering/food there needs to be. There will be far too much if she sets that particular detail. Her plans can be somewhat childish, too, but that just means everybody gets roped into 'Pin the Tail on the Chocobo' or Tangy looks like a soggy kitten in a cardboard box. Please play her fun party games there's a sack race in half a bell 🥺 (she loves to plan but if it's for important people she tends to leave it to someone else. But she will have input. Please consider the sack race. Or the three legged race.)

Oohh, I got a question for you! Do you have a favorite god/primal and do your OCs?

*!!!!* OOUUUHUHUHU I have a favorite of the Twelve yes yes yes~ my personal fave is Byregot. He’s. He’s big 🫢💦 and of the Primals…… it’s Ravanna! The music slaps, and he just wants a thrill in combat. Can’t fault a guy for that. (Runner ups are Ramuh / Bismarck)

Chuu would gun down the Twelve for a single cornchip. No favorites. Puts Alexander down as a Solid ‘Would’ in any kinda questionnaire. (That thing’s a primal right?)

Tuesday‘s fave primal in theory would be …. Mmh…. Garuda? (Both the XV crossover and the XIV version) but I say in theory because I’m not sure he ever encounters them- I just think he’d like them xD. Fave of the Twelve would be Halone… definitely no biases… It’s a very inspiring statue in Ishgard ok,

Ishi’s favorite primal is probs… ah, the four lords aren’t primals… I would say Byakko otherwise xD they’re all pretty harrowing fights in game I think- I could safely rank Shinryu as their least favorite. I think Ramuh would take top slot- Ramuh was only concerned with protecting the Sylph’s and wasn’t about to take down the entire twelveswood unless he felt threatened. Pretty reasonable (or, able to be reasoned with) (visually, though… in a vacuum? Or if XIV was a game he was playing? Uhm, he’s making kissy noises and acting embarrassing abt Raktapaksa (Garuda-Ifrit combination from Eden) ….. their favorite of the twelve is a tie between Menphina and Nymeia

Mochiie‘s favorite primal is… hm…. If you stripped it to the bare bones I think he’d find Susano the most interesting… there’s also Phoenix? He’s firmly of the mind the only good Primal is one dispersed but like, Shiva gets a pass? So. Wait- no yeah Shiva is his favorite because he gets to know/(knew) her :T Finds a strange kinship with Azeyma of the twelve. Don’t think too much about it.

Tangy’s favorite primal is Good King Moggle Mog XII it’s hard to resist a song and dance (since I imagine the song during that fight is actually sung/performed out loud by the moogles during the fight xD) Her favorite of the Twelve is Rhalgr…

Levraut fishes up what is CLEARLY a cursed artifact. Like the kind of cursed that'd take Y'shtola and Urianger half an expansion to figure out how to deal with it.

Who would he try to give it to with a big ole smile and a "Oh I just thought of you when I found this" ?

So there’s two options to this- and both are equally possible, so just think of it as a place where the timeline splits 😂

The first one is handing it off to Kizuna who he thought of immediately as being just the sort of Hero to deal with the sort of mess a cursed artifact comes with. Perhaps it would be of use during his battles to come? Who knows- Kizuna’s Eaten Voidsent several times in the past so hopefully the worst case is he slurps it dry, and it’s just a cool definitely not cursed trinket that doesn’t pulse under your fingertips like it has a lifeblood of its own.

Lev needed it out of his own hands asap though. It was whispering to him. Shapes curling in the corners of his vision. Out on the water he saw what he thought was a ship, lantern dangling as an inviting beacon. So why did it have fins, the glint of teeth poking out of the water at the bow? “Hail, sailor,” it calls, “come hither, cast off the dingy, we’re stranded, we can pay you handsomely, and more,”

Anyways. Get rid of it.

Or! He gives it to Tangy- an orange cat who would probably appreciate this sort of thing. Some sorta gauntlet, mysteriously lacking corrosion from its time under the waves. When he’d hauled it up, it had been grasping at the lure. Yet it pried away easily, like it was meant to be held. To be worn.

‘Much too big for my hands, though,’ a voice unfamiliar in his mind murmurs.

“Here, you seem the sort what would really ‘preciate this sorta find,” he declares, presenting this glove, washed clean of the salt and wrapped in soft cloth. To Tangy, his new made friend, made in the Rising Stones. She’d just been complaining her hands had hurt from using them bare to fight. Surely a glove would be a welcome gift.

Certainly, he was not guided into her path, a gullible, stupid girl, who slides the gauntlet on like a perfect glove with a bright and too-toothy smile. “Oh I LOVE IT!” She squeals, and then she goes off to crush another Garlean squadron that was patrolling too near for comforts.

The gauntlet tries to whisper, to probe, to control, manipulate, but Tangy brushes it off. ‘Thats not very nice,’ she tells it once, when it had suggested that if the merchant was going to insult her she should show him her full might, demand respect.

‘I’m not going to waste food like that,’ she stubbornly defies it again later, when it urges her to pour boiling hot soup into someone’s lap after an off-handed comment about Moenbryda rubbed raw wounds of all seated.

She polishes this glove, gives it a place of high honor (right next to her bedside table!) and even has a replica made for her other hand. Too stubborn to be manipulated. It gives up, eventually, resigned to its fate of being wasted

Sometimes it tries to call to others; Thancred, Urianger, Y’shtola, Ishi’li- never Keathan, who would smite it before it could take hold.

Someday she’ll slip up, and perhaps some other hand will slide into that welcoming embrace, and it will renew its efforts to overtake, consume, throttle, command, Rise.

Anyways Kizuna + Keathan belong to @dustedbooksandreadingnooks and this was really fun to answer MWAH

Has your OC ever been the object of someone's affections that they did not (or could not) reciprocate?

So, something Levraut doesn't know about himself is that he's Aromantic.

Which means for all just flirting, and gestures of affection, bad pickup lines, and getting into situations where a woman dumps her drink on his head and storms out....

When someone shows real interest in being with him, returns the gesture of flashy bouquets and cheesy lines, he feels, stressed. It's nothing like his romance novels where the girl shyly takes the boys hand after a declaration of undying love, their hearts united in purpose, or, anything of the sort. They reach out to take the hand he's clearly offering and he, recoils.

Fortunately he hasn't jilted anyone at the altar, but he HAS stood up a few would've been dates enough to have a reputation in the Drowning Wench, which he slithers out of being yelled at by insisting fantastical circumstances (some real, some invented, and some real, but retold as if they'd happened the previous evening as an excuse.)

But he keeps the same flirtatious air, because, well. He's behaving as any Swashbuckling, Rough And Tumble Adventurer Man would. And he's nothing if not committed to being seen as Masculine

Who likes to gift things that will be Used, even if that means Used Up, like honeys or jams or even lotions and soaps. If he can, he'll make things himself, but he can recognize when something is better done by the more experienced (post EW, he starts writing home more, and some of that is getting the Good Shit imported for scale care. He makes his own but it's not as Nice as the stuff made back home. Different equipment, different ingredients, different skills....

........... he likes to gift Urianger Jewelry though. Rings, and chokers and earrings and body chains and necklaces... he may never propose (who is he, to tie Urianger to that, as the Warrior Of Light, drug into the spotlight, constant worries he'll leave for a fight that he finally doesn't come back from?) but they do probably have matching jewelry.... that's probably where his most expensive gifts end up huhu....

I am being mesmerized by the gif of Chuu shmooving and I gotte ask, has she ever injured herself while doing that beyond emberrassing falls?

She’s not had any such spectacular falls as to break any bones (fortunately!!) but she has sworn off ice skating forever after watching someone else beef it when she was lacing up…. They caught their face on not ice, but someone else’s blade, and split the chin+lip. Blood everywhere. (They’re ok of course! Healers are pretty good at closing up wounds, and it wasn’t that deep. Faces just happen to REALLY bleed when they bleed.)

Decided she’d stick to regular wheel-roller skating… uh- aside from that her worst fall was straight on her ass, rattled her teeth and bruised her tailbone u_u it took her a month before she wanted to skate again (for the Embarrassment! Talia SAW THE WHOLE THING….)

It’s one of her few exercises she enjoys though. Get around quick, without actually as much effort? And unlike a bike (she does not know how to ride but could be bothered to learn, given motivation) her hands are free uvu able to hold ice cream or boba tea or… yknow, whatever else drink.

Chuu doesn't find herself easy to love- she's inclined to long naps on the beach, she picks arguments with one guy in particular Whenever Possible, even if it's the wrong time for that, she doesn't like being Outdone or Bested at something she fancies herself an expert in, so working with her can be a challenge on its own, she doesn't often want sex, which, shouldn't be a 'hard to love' selling point, but it is to her-

It takes her a while to warm up to people in general when there's not a project between them, and she's stubborn and plants her feet on an argument until a week later when she's talked herself around on it using the other persons points (something she's working on, admittedly, sometimes she's just wrong.)

She gets absorbed into projects and forgets to keep in touch, but when a friend/Talia is physically there she'll drape herself all over them to work on something, cos while she's not touch adverse she doesn't think to seek it out on her own

She does think she's the luckiest Viera in the world to be with Talia tho uvu

How does your OC feel about surprise parties? 🎉

Colette is more into helping throw them for someone else than having them thrown FOR her. Shes sharp anyways, so it's a little tricky to properly Surprise Colette with a party anyways; you'd have to get real creative to make sure she didn't suspect anything was up, and then..... maybe have some fire extinguishers ready. In case she [Triple Cast] [Fire III] the surprise situation (mistaking it for being in danger, maybe don't use those confetti poppers without warning.)

Levraut tends to give uh, Useful gifts? Storebought, in that he'll want to do things like Pay for your Dinner, or cover paying for whatever you were about to buy for yourself. This is of course, assuming he has money, which he very much struggles to keep. But hey, it's the attempted gesture that counts right? He's also a little bit like a crow, and if he picks something pretty and shiny up on the job there's a decent chance he'll keep it to gift to someone if he thinks it suits their style or compliments their eyes. He's, ah, doing his best. Not always good at knowing what to gift people.

Tuesday enjoys the decor- it livens up the city and they obviously have those Valentione braziers stored somewhere in a dusty warehouse, so it's nice they see use every year. Also, while he tries to keep on top of events, seeing the festival decor being put up is a good way to know what's happening.

Someday he hopes to participate in helping specifically with setup and running Little Ladies Day, but he tends to be busy....

Carbs would like to know where the cities commissioned those set pieces set up in Ul'Dah for All Hallows Wake- those coffins with the ominous glow within. For. No real reason. Certainly not to commission their own. Otherwise, it finds the city decor to be an eye roll. As in- not particularly hated, but not particularly liked, it's a Neutral leaning towards 'uhgh'. Certainly not because it tripped over the Hatching Tide decor one year.....
