my 75 soft? hard? medium? challenge.
start date: july 1st, 2024 end date: september 14th, 2024
i'm doing this challenge to primarily change my lifestyle and become the best version of myself in a sustainable manner. for that, I decided to combine the two challenges and even add a few new goals.
the 75 soft challenge is not too challenging for me, but the 75 hard one might be a little bit too challenging for me right now to do consistently. also, I wanted to add a few other rules to integrate the challenge more into becoming the best version of myself.
🌷 rules: you can read the original rules here
🌷 my rules:
♡ eat well & no drinking alcohol. eating a balanced diet, with no restrictions or limits because i struggled with eds in the past and i dont want to slip back that. ♡ drink 3,5 liters per day. the majority will be water, i'll be also consuming teas for their health benefits. ♡ two 45 minutes workouts per day, one must be outside. but i can take a rest day on the heaviest day of my period. ♡ 10 pages of nonfiction reading per day. since the start of 2024 i've been reading daily: - 365 days with self-discipline by martin meadows - the daily stoic by ryan holiday in addition to that, the following books are on my tbr: - the power of now by eckhart tolle - mindset: the new psychology of success by carol s. dweck (276 pages) - breaking the habit of being yourself by dr. joe dispenza (329 pages) - why has nobody told me this before? by julie smith (368 pages) - burnout: the secret to unlocking the stress cycle by emily nagosaki (227 pages) - atomic habits by james clear (319 pages) ♡ take a progress picture everyday. - which i won't be posting online! ♡ spend atleast 30 mins per day on a hobby. - i want to restart studying korean and start learning how to code. ♡ no procrastination. - that is probably my biggest flaw. i procrastinate way to much and even put myself in awful situations that could have been easily avoided. ♡ if i fail one habit, i have to restart the challenge!
🌷 progress:

March’25 ˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚
March was an interesting, beautiful month.
This month has been a busy one for me. I’ve accomplished many of my goals and gotten to know myself a lot better. I wouldn’t say I’ve been consciously on a path of self-reflection, but this month, I seem to have done a lot more of that.
March felt blue to me—a rebirth into a new version of myself.
Completed Goal
75 Soft Challenge
I challenged myself to do the 75 Soft Challenge at the beginning of the year. I wanted to see if I could build more positive habits and spend less time on my phone. I completed the challenge, and I have to say—it helped. Throughout the challenge, I noticed I was being more mindful of what I ate, the exercises I did, and the type of content I consumed.
This challenge also helped me rekindle my love for reading. Since starting, I’ve read 12 books—already surpassing my goal for the year. So, yay me!
I will admit, though, that I didn’t wake up at 7 a.m. every day. It was more like 7:30. I’m a night owl some days, and that early wake-up time was a little too much for me.

[my 75 soft challenge and affirmations I used along the way]
What I Learned This Month
I learned this month that sometimes, you wake up and simply choose yourself. This month, I decided to let go of everything that no longer served me and focus on myself.
I had lost a spark in me due to a lot of different factors, and I was starting to miss it more and more. I knew it was getting bad when I found myself yearning to be the girl I was at 19. Even after accomplishing many life goals, I still missed that version of myself.
I’ve always believed that when you start longing for a past version of yourself, it’s often because your future self is asking you to change things now.
So, I decided to go after things without overthinking. I had been considering cutting my hair for a long time—so I just did it. I started doing the things I enjoy and got comfortable with being alone. I put myself first, and it’s been amazing. After nearly six years, I’ve relearned the value of doing things for me.
Healing My Inner Child
I started to feed my inner child a lot. I felt like I was losing my creative side to comparison. For some reason, this month, I compared myself to everything. That’s usually not like me, but it felt like nothing I created was good enough. I kept measuring my work against everyone else’s, and no matter what I did, it never seemed to measure up. I was falling into what I call my marketing brain instead of simply enjoying my hobbies.
I was stuck in a cycle I couldn’t break—so I decided to do things I enjoyed as a child or when I was younger. I colored, sketched clothing designs, and made collages. I stepped into my childlike creativity, and it helped me so much.
Connecting with my inner child made me realize how much of my creative brain was being burned out by comparisons. I was suffering from what felt like imposter syndrome. None of my work felt like my own, or it lacked the vibe I was used to. So, I took time to sit alone with my creativity and let myself be a beginner again. I didn’t care how bad it looked or whether it was visually appealing—I just enjoyed myself.
📓✧˖°. Book I have been reading to help with my creative - The Artist Way
Movies and TV Shows ˙✧˖°🎥 ༘ ⋆。🎞️˚
I watched a lot of great movies and TV shows this month. I started getting back into the Golden Age of Hollywood. I’ve always loved the storytelling in these films. I’m not always the biggest fan of the acting, but the stories feel like a breath of fresh air even today.
Lately, I feel like a lot of movies have started to get repetitive and, honestly, harder for me to get into. That’s not to say I haven’t found any hidden gems, but I did watch one of the most painful movies of my life on Netflix this month. Hint: it’s Aftermath with Dylan Sprouse. 😬
➤ A Face in the Crowd (1957)
➤ A Patch of Blue (1962)
➤ Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street (2021)
Top 3 Songs 𝄞⨾𓍢ִ໋🎧ྀི
Last month I listened to over 4,000 minutes on music as my Spotify DJ KEEPS reminding me. March, I listened to the same three songs on repeat. I don’t know what it was but this songs really spoke to me. They all reminded of something I was going through or a message being sent to me through music.
➤ Your Interlude - Sabrina Claudio
➤ Thinking Less - Sinéad Harnett
➤ Love Hangover - JENNIE
YouTube Videos That Helped A Lot

Give me 21 minutes and you’ll never suffer again - This video really helped me understand stand the cycles I have been trapped in. Through genetics and life experience, we take on other pain that is not necessarily ours. We have to require ourselves to stop holding onto limiting beliefs because our minds don’t know the difference between the past, present, and future.
Rewire your mindset in 3 days - Key takeaway from this video was that it is never too late to change your mindset.
1. Define your dream reality or anything you want to achieve now
2. Prepare to receive it
3. Get in the mind of gratitude and tackle those limiting beliefs

75 Soft Challenge Week 1 -
Mediterranean Diet:
I struggled to not eat out socially this week as that's something I enjoy. I also only eat once a day maybe twice if the meals are small.
The meals I did eat that were Mediterranean based was a poached egg dish that was basically Shakshuka, a tomato arugula pasta, a turkey spinach burger with tzatziki sauce, and salmon with asparagus and Yukon potatoes. Everything was delicious except the salmon I ended up just eating only half and turning the rest into nori.

3 Liters of Water:
I found this absolutely impossible even on the day where I exercised very intensely I couldn't manage this. The day I did I felt very sick.
I don't know if it's because of my size or my activity level but for next week I'm putting it down to 2 Liters and see how I do with that.
No Alcohol:
Surprisingly very easy. I was able to avoid drinking during my social outings by offering to be the designated driver.
I don't really miss alcohol either at least not this week. It has never really added anything to my life.
45 Minutes of Exercise:
This by far has to be the most disappointing row this week.
I had my coach who is also my close friend recommended stretching after workouts to prevent soreness and tightness that I had been experiencing. Also recommended taking the stretches slower and deeper. I had cramps all Friday mostly in my legs and biceps and still went back Saturday only to feel it 10x worse today
Very disappointed in myself but my coach assures me that it's alright especially for where I am in my cycle and being inactive for so long.
10 Pages of Any Book:
I have been reading Lapvona by Ottessa Moshfegh.

I cannot stress enough how much I do not recommend this book it was a chore to read. I enjoyed the deep symbolism it showed around religion and capitalism but that symbolism was buried under the over the top grotesque scenes that served no other purpose other than to shock you.
It seemed pointlessly edgy at times where it forgot about its main plot just to focus on disgusting you. Unlike some of her other books no character had a redeeming quality. No sob backstory could save any of these nasty people.
It was hard and genuinely thinking of buying this tote.
Summary:
I went from 111.6 to 109.4 not great not awful by any means. I still have a BMI 22 and haven't seen any noticeable improvements in my mood or energy.
At a 54% completion rate for this week that's to be expected I'll continue and update next week!

75 Golden

I’m Rowan, and this my version of the 75 hard/soft/medium/whatever you wanna call it. I wanted to do a 75 day challenge that would fit my goals—mainly to lose weight, eat well, nurture my mental well-being, and grow my confidence and my strength.
Today, April 6th, marks day 1, and the 75 days ends on 6/19, one day before the first day of Summer.
My Rules:
Physical:
Stay within a calorie deficit
5-6 workouts per week (3 strength sessions and 1.5 hours cardio weekly)
Drink 2 liters of water each day
Weigh in once per week
Take progress pics every 2 weeks
Mental:
Read 10 pages each day
Walk/meditate outside once per week
Have a self-check-in/spiritual reset once per week (journaling, spend time with my altar, etc.)
Follow screen time limits
Feel free to comment if you are doing something similar, and wish me luck! I’ll be checking in as I go. Because this is my own version and not true 75 hard, I will not be resetting the clock if I fail to do something on my list, but I am determined to hit my goals every day. In March, I really hit my stride with being consistent in the gym, with food, and with my moods, and I’m excited to see how much can change if I stick with it! This is my wall for the next 75 days:

July challenge announcement (and warning)
Hello friends! I'm doing a writing and lifestyle challenge starting in July based on the "75 Hard for Writers" event that has gotten popular on authortube. Basically it's an adaptation of the original 75 hard challenge, but you can make up your own lifestyle/fitness/writing elements. (I'm starting with only July bc of work timing, but we'll see if I can go for 75 days lol)
You're supposed to post daily progress updates on social media, and since I'm not really keen on doing this on my real person accounts, I thought I'd use tumblr. I'm going to make a tag for it so feel free to block that if you're not interested in this kind of content, I completely understand!
without further ado here are my daily goals for July: 1. Draft at least 1k words (I will almost certainly hit this any time I write, it's just to get me sitting down and doing it) 2. Novel revisions - at least two 45 minute blocks 3. Drink 3 litres of water 4. Exercise (lifting every other day, whatever I want in between) 5. Go outside (touch grass, etc etc) 6. Social media update
Also my friend JC is doing the challenge too over on youtube, so if you want to check her out she talked about her goals here!
